Move music: IPod to iTunes

I did this once before with some third party software (shareware), but tossed the info. Does anyone know the shareware for moving music from iPod to iTunes. I had to wipe and rebuild my Mac Mini this week and all my music was backed up on my iPod. Now I need to move it back to iTunes. And I also need to restore my iPod due to it not shutting off when the battery get below one half. Thanks!!!

  • Sometimes when I move music from my iTunes library to my iPod I get incorrect album art. Any known causes/fixes?

Sometimes when I move music (typically an album) from iTunes to my iPod I get incorrect album artwork on the iPod. Is this a known issue with the iPod classic and are there any fixes other than a complete restore and sync of the iPod?

You can manually manage or you can sync by playlist/artist/album/genre/checked songs.
Maybe you should read the manual:

  • MOVE music from default iTunes library to another?

I'm new to itunes/ipod use. Cannot figure out how to MOVE SOME of the music I've already imported into the default iTunes library to a separate library I created to hold JUST Christmas music. I can create the "Christmas" library and can switch between it and the default library in iTunes but am unable to move music between them. I have the ipod set to manually manage music and to use as a hard drive (I think).
iTunes has to be the most frustrating system I've ever used!!!

Not sure what you've tried. Do you want to move the actual holiday music files? Or just temporarily add the holiday music to your main library?
I just have it all in my main library, and all properly tagged with genre=Holiday. Then I have a smart playlist where Genre=Holiday. Now that I don't want to hear any of that stuff anymore, I went into the smart playlist for HOliday, and control-checkmarked it.
Now, none of that stuff will play - it is unchecked, so will get skipped during playback and shuffle.

  • Transfer music Ipod to Itunes

In changing my computer OS to windows 2007 I lost my Itunes library. I reloaded same but have lost the songs that I downloaded from CDs. I have these on my Ipod and want to know whether I can trancsfer ny music from my Ipod to Itunes on the computer.

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. And here is a guide about how to transfer iPod musichttp://www.ipod-transfer-copy.com/how-to-transfer-music-from-ipod-to-computer-it unes.html, Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Transfer/Sync Music Ipod to ITunes (i.e. computer)

I have a whole bunch of albums on my IPod Classic 80Gb and would like to transfer them to a new computer install with ITunes on it i.e. sync from the IPod to ITunes as against the normal vice versa, is there any way this can be done? I obviously do not want to have to download all CDs again just so that I can sync as normal.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • How do I move music from my iTunes library to my iPhone?

iTunes 12 is certainly a different UI from before.  Previously, there was an icon of my plugged-in iPhone in the upper right corner of the UI to which I could drag items I wanted to transfer to my phone - movies, music, etc.
That's gone.  I'm seeing my iTunes library, and the iTunes store, but no references at all to my iPhone 6 that's plugged in.
So, how do I now transfer items from my iTunes library to my iPhone???

You can connect your iPhone (wired) to you Mac and in iTunes an iPhone-icon will appear right next to the three dot in the white top bar. It will also appear in the sidebar you can open by clicking on the playlistsbutton right next to My Music. If you click on your iPhone in the sidebar all folders on the iPhone will be unfolded and you can drag and drop music from you library to you iPhone (as shown in the screenshot below).
If you click on the iPhone icon in the white bar, you get the screens to manage the content of you iPhone and synchronize.
PS: the iPhone should appear wireless as well, but does not most of the time. This is a bug. I expect it to be solved in the next update. Until then we must work wired.

  • How to transfer video/movie to ipod from iTunes?

    Hi,
Recently, I have got my new iPod Touch 4G.  I succesfully transfered songs/apps from iTunes to my iPod Touch. But I don't know how to transfer video/movie to my iPod. I can't add a movie/video clip to iTunes ( File-> Add file to Library).
Is there any video format conversion required?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You are right! I just converted my videos/movies into MP4 format using HandBrake and it works!

  • I cannot move music from my itunes library to my iphone after an update

    Hi
I recently updated my iphone 3GS and now I cannot move any music from my itunes library to my iphone. I have also had to sync my iphone with my laptop as my PC that I used before no longer works.

Connect the phone to your computer
Wait for it to appear in the list on the left side of iTunes
Click once on it in that list
Look to the right and scroll down to Options - one of the checkboxes says Manually manage music and videos

  • No sound when converting movies to ipod in itunes

Ever since i received my ipod i was having problems converting my movies to ipod format. It takes a few hours to convert and then when its done i get no sound (movies are currently on my computer just not ipod ready.) I've made sure i have the latest version of itunes. Other than that i couldnt find any trouble shooting tips. I also tried converting using Quicktime pro. That was just a complete waste of time. It says it converts in about 4 seconds, when i go to open the file its just a snapshot of my computer screen instead my movie. (i go into export, pick the file, then select movie to ipod. also tried movie to mp4) Any ideas on what to do?!?!

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

  • How do I move music back into iTunes?

I've tried a couple of third party programs that move your music from your ipod back into itunes. However, none of them seem to keep your playlists and the order that the music was listed intact. This is driving me nuts since I have almost 5000 songs and my old hard drive died. I do not want to have to buy all of the music again and spend days importing CD's. I'm also holding off on buying a new iPod until I can get this resolved since I don't want to start from square one.
If anyone knows of any utilities that can preserve my playlists and keep the play order intact (I have some books on tape and other things where play order is important) would love to hear from you. Thanks!!!!

The following utilities claim to be able to restore counts, ratings and playlists, although I haven't tried them myself and they are not free. No doubt there are others that could be found with google.

  • Can't drag movies into iPod from iTunes

    Hi,
I had a problem a while back importing movies that I had compressed (using Handbrake) into iTunes. Once I updated/reinstalled the iPod software it was fine.
Last night I did the same with a couple of episodes of 24- both imported and will play in iTunes but only one can be transferred to my iPod. It says that "This movie cannot be played on an iPod" but the formats of the 2 shows were identical.
This is obviously for my own use so I'm hoping I'm doing nothing illegal.
    Any ideas?

Ah. Just updated iPod again and movie dragged in fine.
Odd how it should work for one and not the other.
I guess that could a "bug fix" that the update referred to?

  • Playing Protected movie on ipod from itunes

Can any one explain to me why i cant put a protected movie that i purchased from itunes, on my daughters ipod touch. The movie goes onto the ipod but will not play.

Because the CD does not have digital encryption that has to be broken. As I said above, what is illegal is the breaking of the encrytion. It isn't so much the actual copying of the DVD content itself, which one could argue could be legal in many different "fair use" applications.
Yes, I agree it doesn't make sense, but that is how the badly concieved law reads...
    www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf
    www.copyright.gov/title17/chapter12.pdf
So it is still illegal for Apple to create software designed to break DVD encryption, at least in the USA and other World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) member countries who recognize that law.
