Move OS 10.8 & Apps to SSD (Mac Pro)

Is there an online reference to the steps to take to move OS 10.8 and Apps from my Mac Pro's HD to a newly installed SSD.
Mac Pro Model 4,1
OS 10.8.4
12 GB Ram
2 HD installed : 640 GB + 500 GB
New SSD: 240 GB

Yes.
Leave the drive you have as is for backup and safety.
You could do a clean install if you want and use Setup Assistant, or you can use Carbon Copy Cloner and skip moving the large data and media sub folders in user account.
People have been separating the OS/Apps (system boot drive) from the user account (and all the data) for a decade and pre-SSD
SSD addition is you need TRIM Enabler or another method to enable TRIM.
And move the user data also to its new home on another drive.
you do not want to fill the SSD beyond say 50%.
With a 4,1 you can also buy and use a PCIe card designed to hold one or two SSDs and boot from there and get 6G / 550MB/sec instead of ~250MB/sec (but either way is better than what you are getting now).

The destination storage device (SSD drive or hard drive) you are migrating to should be physically located in the same computer. Moving operating system files from one computer to another computer using software not specifically designed for that computer can cause issues due to software, hardware, and firmware version mismatches.

It is never a good idea to move to different hardware, even if it does seem okay and work.
Why not try and see? and then ask what's next.
Obviously you'll have to reactivate when it detects new hardware.

There is a forum for iTunes and Apps. Last time I used iTunes 10.5.0 those apps would if you have the option checked in iTunes "auto add to your device" during the next synch session when you plugged it into your computer.
But it runs iOS 5.01, not Lion or OS X something. Totally different code base.

Quicktime can do this.
Open the MP4 in Quicktime Player. From the menu bar, File >Export > select quality. The subsequent file will be saved as .mov
Alternatively, you can simply change the extension on the mp4 file to mov since the codec is the same.
*I should mention that .mov format is not DVD format (TS_VIDEO), and the DVD will not play in a DVD player, even if you successfully burn the file to it.

The apps that you have on your iPhone will only work on iOS devices i.e. an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch - your Mac uses a different operating system, OS X. You can get some apps/programs for your Mac e.g. you should have a Mac App Store icon, possibly on the dock at the bottom of the screen, and/or in the Applications folder :
If you are using Safari to access Facebook or other sites then you should be able to add bookmarks for them to itvia the Bookmarks menu at the top of Safari (command-D is the keyboard shortcut for adding a bookmark). If you are using a different browser, then again you should be able to bookmarks for your favourite sites.

When I move a harddrive with Bootcamp from my mac pro to my macbook, windows doesn't work

I have a 13" Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook and the topcase-keyboard doesn't work and so for some reason, it makes it impossible for me to install windows on the bootcamp partition. While the windows installer is running, it doesn't recognize usb keyboards. So I decided to install windows 7 professional on that same drive using my Mac Pro. The installation worked perfectly.
Then I take that harddrive and I move it back to my MacBook and windows won't start up correctly, stating that something has changed (of course!...duh).
Can anyone help me with a workaround for this?

With the Lion it is essentially unnecessary to resort to external driver disks. What's more, most of those disks are incompatible with the OS and should not be used. The system already carries a wide variety of printer description files (aka PPDs, which is what modern printing systems use as "drivers") for a lot of brands. And there was an HP printer update just two days ago.
Just checked in mine and did indeed find that the HP OfficeJet 6200 Series, with or without Fax, is covered with the latest update.
So just go thru the motions of creating a proper printer instance:
Make sure the Mac "sees" the printer on the network.
System Preferences / Print & Scan
Click on the + button on the left column
Select the appropriate type of printer, will use IP for the rest of this
Select HP Jetdirect - Socket, default for HP network printers
Type the IP address or look it up
Name the printer for easy identification on the print dialog
Let the Mac identify the printer model or manually choose the driver
Click Add.
Once the instance pops up in the list, can click on Options & Supplies for further config.

You appear to have boght a Mac and taken it to a country with no iTunes/Mac App Store. So there is nowhere for you to buy. You must buy from the stores for your country and there isn't one that I can find.

What applications are you trying to update and what version are they?
Have you checked there are updates available from the manufacturers website?

Can't log into Mac App Store from Mac Pro Desktop.

Earlier this evening I logged into the Mac App Store fine from my MacBook Pro and downloaded an app. Now I want to do same from mt Mac Pro desktop. Despite repeated attempts I can't log in. It just sits and cranks.
Any recommendations appreciated.

Best video conversion app for 2009 mac pro?

hi, i just bought a 2009 2.66ghz quad-core mac pro, and as i have 4 cores (or 8 virtual cores with HT), i wanted some video conversion app that really uses the 8 cores. Can someone suggest me what app is the best for multicore?

For multicores I have no idea, (even though I have a Pro), I don't think many of the apps made are written to take advantage of multicore computers. That said you've not mentioned any formats that you really need it to handle so any suggestions made may be a little hit and miss.
The two I use are Handbrake and Visual Hub.

How to copy apps to new Mac Pro?

Is there an easy way to copy the applications from my G4 to my new Mac Pro? It would be nice if at least some of them can be moved over along with the user licenses.

If they are Universal Binary and can be just dragged to /Applications you are probably fine, but if they use an installer, then only migrate your home account folder and install fresh. Good to collect and keep all your software downloads and updates in one place.
PPC and Intel are different operating systems and support libraries, at least with Tiger, and can cause anything from sluggish weird performance to downright nasty.

Random app crashes on Mac Pro

When I got the mac pro I notice when copying my data from my mac g4 quicksilver over the linksys router that the finder was crashing on the new mac pro 2.66 I figured it might be my linksys router that was 2 yrs old so I bought an external drive copied all my data that went fine but when I was importing my itunes and iphoto catalog would crash so would quicktime and system preference so I decided to format the 250 gig hard drive zero out data and started over even though disk utility said the hd was fine thinkg that there might be something wrong with the factory install. I also checked the memory and added another 1 gig of apple memory.
So I started over and the same problem continues. Last night I ran the diagnostic test from cd disk 1 by holding down d on the keyboard ran that everything past. I can not update the EFI firmware now either. What gives??? Is anybody having this same problem? I am going to call apple but with all the tests passing I'm afraid there is nothing they will do.
