  • How can we move our existing documents into iCloud?

So far I've been presented with the option to save files into iCloud (textedit and the like). How can we take our existing documents (Word, Excel, TXT, PDF, etc) and store them in iCloud as well? Short of individually opening each one and saving in iCloud...

iCloud is not intended for general file storage. (It is not iDisk.) It's also not organized the same way. Each application is responsible for interfacing with its own documents in iCloud; Word and Excel do not have the function encoded.

  • Database refresh of a 10gb database through export-import

    hi ,
I am using oracle 10g R2 . I need to refresh the development server from the production server .
The size of the database is 10GB . Can I do it with export-import ?
    Thank you .

besides these mentioned methods, i.e. 1) exp/imp; 2) data pump; 3) transportable tablespaces; 4) rman duplicate. you can also use manual duplication of the production database which is faster and easier I would say. Below is link, which can be used for detailed steps.
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_db_copy.htm
Please note that, if your source database can not be shut down, so you can copy your datafiles by putting tablespaces or database into hot backup mode.

  • Export/import to/from database

    hi,
i do not know what is this for. i read the help but still no idea.
i know to use export/import to/from memory id and also set/get but not export/import to/from database.
    1) what help says it stores data cluster? what is data cluster
    2) can have example of export/import to/from database?
    3) what is the different for export/import to/from memory id and database?
    thanks

    Hi,
    1) A data cluster is a set of data objects grouped together for the purpose of storage in a storage medium(Like database, local memory or shared meomory etc), which can only be edited using ABAP statements like EXPORT, IMPORT and DELETE.
    2) Suppose you want to export the data in a internal table to database.
Here TABLE_ID is the identifer of your data cluster. You are exporting your data to a SAP table INDX and giving it an ID (TABLE_ID in this case and this ID you are giving it an area by name XY where your data will be stored). EXPORT tab = itab
      TO DATABASE indx(XY)
      CLIENT '000'
      ID 'TABLE_ID'.
You can get this data as follows.
    IMPORT tab = itab
      FROM DATABASE indx(xy)
      CLIENT '000'
      ID 'TABLE_ID'.
    3) The difference is simple when you use MEMORY ID the data you export is stored in the application server MEMORY where as in the case of DATABASE it is stored in the database.

  • How to create a new database after copying an existing database with a new name

    hi
i have an existing database and want to copy with a new name in sql server 2005 how do it is possible
    spose
i have a db name attached in sql server StoreManagementDB now i want to copy this database with all the transactions as StoreManagementDB_1.
    thanks

Use a two steps to use a backup file to restore a database with a new name.
----You need to have a full backup of your database:
    --Step 1:
    RESTORE FILELISTONLY
    FROM DISK = 'C:\bk\TEST.BAK'
--Find out the LogicalName of data file and log file
-- in this case: the data file: TEST and the log file LogicalName: TEST_log
--Both names will be used in the MOVE command
    --Step 2:
-- Restore the files for test1.
    RESTORE DATABASE test1
    FROM DISK = 'C:\bk\TEST.BAK'
    WITH RECOVERY,
    MOVE 'TEST' TO 'C:\bk\test1_Data.mdf',
    MOVE 'TEST_log' TO 'C:\bk\test1_Log.ldf'
    GO

  • Adding Spatial to Existing Database

I am looking for information detailing how to use/implement the
Spatial search to an existing database. Most of the information
I have already read does not indicate how to set up pre-existing
tables. We are using another company's database design within
our product and rather than rebuilding or recreating the current
tables, I would like to see if we could add the indexes without
    major changes.
    Thanks!

does the existing database design include the storage of spatial
geometry or is it your intention to add spatial data storage
    capabilities to an existing design?

  • Best way to move LOB between database

I am using Oracle 10.2.0.4. Please share your experience what is the best to move LOBs between databases. Lob size is 40 gb. I have tried using data pump, and parallel insert with nologging but it is taking almost 1 hour to transfer 1 gb.
    Thanks for any suggestion.

    N Gasparotto wrote:
For data pump I am using impdp over network_link .Would be much more efficient to copy the file accross the network and then run impdp locally. Did you also tried also parallel impdp ?
Nicolas.Thank I will be trying your suggestion to move the copy. Currently do to space issue I cannot try it but I have already requested for the designated mount point.
I tried using parallel hint. Our sever had 8 cpu so I tried parallel 16. Although current parallelism was 16 ,
worker parallelism was 1. They were only 2 workers and other worker was always waiting. In other words, the two workers did not execute simultaneously. So, I guess data pump did not run parallely.
Should not more than one worker be executing simultaneously for it to run parallel? I did not understand what worker parallelism meant?

  • Move BOXI31DEV (CMS Database) to BOXI31Prod(CMS Database)

We have setup our BO 3.1 environment which currently uses BOXI31Dev cms database (oracle 11g) on server1.
We want to move the cms database to server2 and rename it to BOXIR3Prod (oracle 11g).
    Please suggest the steps.
    Thanks,
    Satvinder

Stop SIA, go to properties, click on Configuration tab. Next to 'CMS system database configuration' click on Specify button, choose the second option 'copy data from another Data Source' and click OK. Enter the database in Server 2 details, this will copy the CMS database from server 1 to server 2.
If you have any data in server 2 CMS then it will be removed.
Note: Take a backup of the CMS database in server 1 before making changes, just in case.
    Thanks,
    Hari

  • SSAS Deploy returns error on existing database instead of overwriting

I am aware that this issue has been discussed before. However I have not found a satisfactory answer. I occasionally run into this issue: I have a deployed SSAS database on the server from a project in SSDT. I open the project again at a later
time in SSDT, make some changes such as adding a new attribute to a dimension and deploy with the same name. I get a metadata engine error "Errors in the metadata manager. The database with the name of 'XYZ' already exists in the 'SERVER' server.".
Please note that unlike commonly discussed scenarios, I have not renamed anything. The Database Name property in SSDT matches exactly both the Name and ID properties on the server, and the Deploy Changes Only property is set in SSDT. Why doesn't it
see that I want to overwrite, or at least ask me whether I want to overwrite? Since the ID and Name properties on the server are derived from the Database Name property in SSDT, it is clear I want to overwrite?
I know I can delete the database on the server and deploy successfully, but I don't want to do this. The only way I found of deploying successfully without deleting the database on the server is to change the Database Name property in SSDT (e.g.
by adding a 2 to the original name) then deploy, rename back to the original name then deploy with overwriting, then delete the renamed one from the server.
The fact that I can circumvent the error in this way surely proves the current functionality is a bug?

    Hi Charles,
For the error message "Errors in the metadata manager. The database with the name of '' already exists in the '' server",
generally there are two reason that can cause this issue.
Deploy this solution to a different name than your existing database.
Rename the previous database before deploying the new version with the new cube
Please refer to the link below to see the detail information.

  • How can I move an existing contact to a group in iPad Contacts?

I have a years worth of contact information stored before the last update which added the Group option, this is great for new contacts being added but I can see no way to move the existing contact from All Contacts to Customer etc. short of re-typing 400 contacts . .
    Any ideas?

    Hey Jerry,
I've got the same question.  I've figured out a very un-elegant way (because I don't think that Apple has a way to do this with IOS) to "move" existing contacts from either 1) your iPad's Contacts "All Contacts" list to an existing Group, or 2) to add it from a Contacts list on another computer:
    1) If you haven't already made a new Group, you may need to figure out how to do that ( I don't).
If you already have an existing Group (from syschronizing with your iMac for example), but wish to "move" a Contact over into that Group, then you'll have to take that Contact file (it was probably under "All Contacts"), and "Share" it with the same iPad that you're using.  First, you'll have to go to the already existing Group, and hit the "+" sign on the lower left panel.  When the new blank Contact page opens up, merely type in the Last name of the contact which you wish to be in this Group.  Hit the "Done" button.  Next, go into "All Contacts", find the Contact that you wish to move into the desired Group.  When you are looking at the opened Contact File, you will see three active links (buttons) at the bottom: "Send Message", "Share Contact", and "Edit".  Select Share Contact.  You then either Email or Message yourself at the iPad's email address.  Go to Mail or Messages (depending upon which you chose to Share the .vcf file), open the recently received email/message, and touch the icon for the "attached" file.  At the bottom of the Contacts window that just opened up you will see "Create New Contact" and "Add to Existing Contact".  Choose the "Add" option, then navigate to the desired Group, and then the file Contact file (having only what you initially filled in, such as the last name, or whatever you used to initialize the Contact within the Group). Voila!  Although it won't have looked like anything happened, you can close the email message, and go investigate within the desired Group to see that your contact file has indeed been added to the Group.
Whew! That was pretty convoluted.  Once you've done it, you'll get it.  Once you get it you'll probably wonder out loud: "Why hasn't Apple made this simpler...or it it has, why haven't they let us in on the secret?????"
    Cheers.

  • How can I move an existing iTunes library from a Dell PC (which uses Windows Vista) to a MacBook Pro?  I have tried to copy the library from the PC onto a memory stick but cannot move from the stick onto the MacBook Pro.

I have tried to copy my iTunes library from my old (2008) Dell PC to a 32 GB memory stick and then copy it from the stick to the iTunes library in the new MacBook Pro which I purchased recently from a reputable dealer which resells refurbished Macs, (lease returns, etc).  The dealer was Computer Trends store in Saskatoon.  They told me how to move my existing iTunes libary from the PC to the Mac but I cannot seem to achieve that objective.  The Mac does not seem to recognize the memory stick.  I thought the Mac would recognize that the memory stick held iTunes files and would then transfer them without prompting to its own iTunes libary.  It did not do so.  I have therefore tried to find the command sequence within iTunes (on the Mac) for moving the material from the memory stick to the iTunes library.  Cannot find those commands.  Does anybody know where to find such commands.  I have to say, I am really disappointed that such a simple function would prove to be beyond my capabilities.  I thought the Mac was supposed to be easier than a PC.  !!!  Oh well, I am hoping this forum will help !!!

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
So, you can see your whole iTunes folder on the memory stick after copying from the PC?
