Move parts on the timeline

How can I move a part on the timeline to the right and move all the parts to the right of the part on that track at the same time?
I guess it´s a tool for that but I cannot figure out which to use..

Correction: hit T 4 times
1 time for 1 track right
2 times for 1 track left
3 times for 1 track left and right
4 times for all tracks right
5 times for all tracks left

  • Anyway to loop specific parts of the timeline?

Hey, is there anyway to loop SPECIFIC parts of the time line, the way you can in Motion, Logic and some other audio programs.  That would really be nice as you can make changes while you watch in REALTIME.
    Thanks

I tried both.  First i simply used "A" Seclect tool to highlight the part of the timeline that I want to loop. That didn't work. The cursor just continued after the highlighted part. Then I sued "R" range slection tool and selected part of the clip/s in the timeline and again, the cursor just continued after the end of the selection.
In logic and other programs, you can create a section on top of the timeline where you want the loop to be and it will loop from those points.
Any other ideas of what to do?  Thanks again

  • Premiere CS6 crashing when I move clips in the timeline

This error box appears when I try to move things around in the timeline. I'm not exactly sure where to start so I don't know what to troubleshoot.
    Anyone ever get this before?

Yes!  I too keep trying to move clips and get relentless crashing.  My clips are all named.  I also tried to rename a clip and when I moved it, CS6 crashed just like before.  Is there another clip name you are referring to?

  • Export part of the timeline

    Hi,
Is it possible to mark in/out on the timeline and only export this part in PPRO CS3?
    Thanks in advance.
    /Ulf

You can do it, but not with In & Out points. You do it by setting the work area bar to the portion you want to export, and setting the export options to Work Area rather then Entire Sequence.

  • Trying to move clips in the timeline and they won't drop?

I'm trying to unlock tracks and that doesn't seem to help, what's going on? When I try to drop them in the place where I want them, instead of the cursor becoming that down arrow with the line below it, it just stays being the regular arrow cursor but with a star to the right of it and a square line appears on the timeline where I'm trying to drop the clip but it won't drop.

You can open your Project file in a text editor and see what links the project expects to find.
    To do this,
    1. Find your project in the iMovie/iMovie Projects/ folder. Make a copy of it, and put the copy on your desktop so you don't risk harming it in step 2. The project will have the name that you gave it, and will have the file extension RCPROJECT.
    2. Open the copy of the RCPROJECT file in a text editor. You can do this by right-clicking (or control-clicking) on the project file and selecting OPEN WITH...some text editor.
You can open it in Text Edit, which comes standard on your Mac, but it may be confusing because of the hexadecimal characters. If you have access to the BBEDIT text editor, it seems to handle the hex characters better, so you can tell what is going on.
    3. Now look at the links in the project file, and see where iMovie thinks they should be. If necessary, move them back there.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I move video down the timeline?

New user here. Please can anyone help. When you import a picture into Soundtrack, why does it always automatically go to the first frame of your project title. For example, if I want the picture to be at 10 00 00 00, I will put this in the project title import the picture and away we go. However, I would like the opportunity to put a plop 48 frames before the picture. I thought it would be a simple process to drag and drop the picture as you do audio but it appears not to be the case. I have looked everywhere for a solution but to no avail. I should point out, that I am using ST Pro as a stand alone audio device, that is, not alongside Final Cut. I also work in an audio post production studio and am evaluating the possibility of using ST Pro as part of our tools. With this picture restriction, though, it is looking unlikely. Anyone's help and advice on this would be much appreciated. I am aware ST Pro is audio editing only. I use it for that purpose. However, it is an audio to picture tool. For example, in my game, I put audio to tv commercials. Thus, I need the picture to put audio against. I know I can import the picture. My simple question is why, when you import the picture, does it always go to the start of your timeline. So, if I put my start time at 10 00 00 00, I am unable to put anything before that marker. So if I want to put any audio before the picture, whether it be a plop or tone, I can't. I simply want to drag the picture to another time point that will allow to have some potential audio time before the picture. If any of you try to import a picture in a new title, you will see what I mean. If you don't set a timecode, it will put the picture at point zero on the time line and not allow you to bring the cursor before that. If you set a time at 10 00 00 00, again it will not allow you to move the cursor to a point before that point. If Apple were serious about going into the post pro market they should ensure that this works as a stand alone system. I was speaking to them the other day and mentioned this. As I say, it really does seem peculiar that you are unable to perform such a simple exercise.

Hi laser558, everything you say is true. I continue to [maintain|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1385395&tstart=150] that STP is mainly a tool for video editors to work with sound in a better way than they are able to in FCP, and not a mainline tool for audio professionals. Some people may disagree with that, and if they can get the job done that's great, but the more I work with it the more I feel this way. That's not to say the program doesn't have tremendous possibilities, and that eventually STP may become a really useful program for you, but regrettably I don't recommend it for everyone you at this time.
The only way to deal with your dilemna in STP is to edit the movie (say in QTPro) before you import it.

  • ENTER makes the movie skip around the timeline

I have a multiline text box for data entry. If the user hits
enter in there for a new line, the program jumps to a different
place in the time line. I checked to see if this was something I
had inadvertently programmed in by creating a new test program with
a few key frames and no text input. The enter key jumps me around
in there too. How do I get rid of this behavior?
    Thanks for any help!
    Kerri

I believe your problem is the Enter key under previewing
mode. When test movie, Enter mean play :-)
So, check if it also happen in published swf.

  • How do I use cookies to control which part of the timeline to play from?

    Hi there,
I have created an animation with Adobe Edge. My site uses Concrete5 and I am pulling in the Edge content into an IFRAME on my home page (there my be a better way to do this and I'm open to suggestions). I want the animation to play from the start when someone first visits the site, but if during their browser session they navigate back to the home page, I want the animation to only play a shorter segment of frames near the end.
My question is, how do I use cookies to acheive this? I'm new to javascript/jquery.
I've included the following code on compositionReady, (found in another post on this forum) but don't have a clue how to continue...
    // insert code to be run when the composition is fully loaded here yepnope(   {     nope:[       '/js/jquery.cookie.js'     ],   complete: init   } ); function init() { //create your cookie's initial values here }
My temp site is here - http://79.170.40.43/nutcrackerdesign.co.uk/
On revisting the homepage, I only want to play from when the green 'How can we help?' button drops in.
    Many thanks!
    Russ

    Hi, Russ-
I found this article, which seemed really helpful in describing how cookies work in JavaScript:
    http://www.quirksmode.org/js/cookies.html
Remember that JS works just fine within Animate, so on your compositionReady, you can read your cookie and then set the play based on that.  You should probably uncheck the autoplay for your Stage and control the play of your Stage from the compositionReady.
    Good luck!

  • What are these Gray and blue parts on the Timeline?

I have no idea what they are for,I've looked for a few minutes. I've looked all around, but there is no way to delete them I've come across. I'll show you what I mean, this would help alot! Answer Some Time Soon! I need it right now kinda...

That is the cache indicator. Blue = disk cache, green = RAM cache. Anyway, this is basic stuff required to understand how AE works and you need to read up.

  • HP Scanjet G3110 Light Scan on moves part of the time

    I have an HP Scanjet G3110, several times during the past few months I have had to Uninstall an reinstall my software as I was getting error codes.  This time the Light bar is only moving about 1 inch and then stopping.  If I unplug everything and wait, I can get 1 full scan and then it does it again.  I uninstalled and reinstalled on more than one computer.  I have replaced the USB to scanner cable and that did not help.  Running XP on both computers.   Error message as follows.   8, [ (0, 3,  -2147467259) }
Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Solved my own problem - went to the official HP website looking for any downloads.  Found one called "HP Scan & Print Doctor" .  Ran it and my scanner was fixed immediately.   Now to copy this off and try my other computer.  Thank you HP.

  • How to move a scene in the timeline?

    Hello All,
I have about an hour of footage in my timeline. In that hour of footage I have about 25 scenes. In each scene I have made several edits.
How do I move one scene to another part of the timeline? If I go to scene 5 and I use the double arrow tool it highlights all the footage from 5 until the end of the timeline. What I want to do is just "cut" the 10 edited shots that make up scene 5 and "paste" them to another point in the timeline. Every tool I have tried won't allow me to just highlight all the footage in scene 5 (so keep in mind there are several edits in scene 5. it is no longer one long piece of video).
Can this be done in FCE?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Click on the first clip of the scene then hold down the Shift key as you click the end clip. Make sure the cursor is the standard selection tool - A

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to move the handle of the timeline window to scroll it forward and backward......?

I want to use keys to control the part of the timeline that I want to see by scrolling the timeline ahead and backwards.....exactly what we do with that handle at the bottom of the timeline......

I don't know a keyboard combination to scroll the timelime left or right, but you can easily do it, either
using the trackpad (two finger drag), the magic mouse (1 finger drag), orthe "Hand" tool. Press H to select it. Click and hold, and drag.

  • How to go back to frame 1 when the timeline reaches a certain frame?

I have a timeline that has some label frames at the very end of the timeline. During the timeline a user will hit a button on a frame and will jump to one of the label frames. On the label frame is another button that when clicked - returns the user to the previous frame. How do I make the movie return to frame 1 - without a button - but before it reaches the label frames? In other words, by simply reaching a certain frame in the movie, I want the timeline to go back to frame 1.
I am using Action Script 3 on a PC
    Thank you.

Thanks from me as well. I'm trying to make an interactive house simulation game (basic) and hit this issue where the timeline needs to skip to the next segment as several options are available per room (listed one after the other in the timeline). Flash isn't particularly easy to use when it comes to this kind of thing. Is Flash Catalyst CS5 more suited to this?
