Move SCOM agent between gateway server and management server ?

Dear all,
IN SCOM 2012 R2 is it possible to move SCOM agent between gateway server and management server ? I mean if one agent is reporting to Gateway server , in case if i want to shutdown that Gateway server , can i move to another Management server and
Vice versa ?
Thanks,
Sengo

  • SCOM Agent on Linux Server Fail

    Dears,
I am new to this topic of deploying SCOM Agent to Linux Server...
In my deployment, I want to push SCOM Agent to Linux Ubuntu, I have confirmed below:
    Ubuntu distribution is supported
I am using root account with no SSH certificate
On Linux Server firewall for IPv4 and IPv6 is off
I can telnet to linux port 22
root account have privilege to access 22
WHen I try push installation, I am able to:
    Discover the servers
Push the agent and deploy it (I can see the service scom agent service started and I can telnet to Linux Server port 1270)
when scom push agent wizard try to sign the certificate it fail with below error:

    Please help on this.

    Jean,
It looks like this is most likely your issues. Please give it a try and see if it resolves the problem.
    Possible Causes
The Management Servers default action account does not have the necessary privileges (administrator) to open the root certificate store.
    Resolutions
Set the Action Account for the Manage Server(s) as a local administrator account
Configure a local administrator account in the Run As Profile: Certificate Signing Profile
If the Certificate Signing Profile is configured, the action account associated in that profile will be used. If not, it will fall back to the default Action Account

  • Difference Between Legal Consolidation and Management Consolidation

    Dear Experts,
    Kindly help me to know
    1) To Differenciate between Legal Consolidation and Management Consolidation Theoritically?
    2) To Differenciate between Legal Consolidation and Management Consolidation Technically in BPC?
    3) What is impact on /Difference on Business Process Flow in BPC in case of Legal Consolidation or Management Consolidation? (What should be done in Management COnsolidation and Legal COnsolidation in BPF in BPC)
    Thanks in Advance
    Ritesh

True accounting/legal consolidations encompasses the three following elements:
    1.  the general ledgers of the entities
    2. elimination entries between entities (inter entity transactions such as sales/cost of sales, a/r and a/p etc.)
    3. adjustments for partially owned entities
Using the legal app, rate and ownership apps, and the proper configuration, outlooksoft achieves a legal/accounting  consolidation.  Accounting consolidations also link to a legal hierarchy of entities.
Any consolidation that is referred to as management or financial consolidation etc. can have differing connotations.   In Outooksoft  software,  management consolidations does not include item 3.
However, when the terms are used by the client they can have different meanings.  They could mean either :
A true legal consolidation BUT tied to the  Management hierarchy of entities (as  opposed to a legal hierarchy) OR An aggregation without item 3 above and tied to the Management hierarchy of entities.
9 times out of 10, clients usually want the first  rather than the second alternative.  Financial statements
rolled up using legal consol should equal that using management consol.
However, when clients do planning, they may have their entities plan as if they were fully owned. They could also have their entities provide actals for less than 100% in the case of partially owned entities.   In these cases, you have to adjust appropriately.
From an Outlooksoft config point of view, you need the legal, rate and ownership app and the related configuration for a legal consolidation.  Management consol depends on client definition and client practice in the data that they collect from the entities.
In the area of BPFs, the key difference between legal and management COULD be the steps (1-3) and the maintenance of the different hierarchies and ownership values.
    Hope the above helps.

  • SCOM agent communicating with server?

    Dear all,
After SCOM agent installation how that agent will start communicating with server? Is there any flowchart (like first how the communication will start , then when the MP will get download ..etc..)
    Thnaks,
    Sengottuvel M

    Hi,
The System Center Management Health service on each monitored agent collects performance data, executes tasks, and so on. Even when the service is unable to communicate with the management server it reports to, the service continues to run and queues the
collected data and events on the disk of the monitored computer. When the connection is restored, the System Center Management Health service sends collected data and events to the management server.

  • Move encrypted filesystem between OS X and linux?

I would like, if possible, to copy and use an encrypted filesystem between OS X and linux. I haven't found a way to do this, and would appreciate any assistance (that is, I want to create something like an encrypted sparseimage that can also be copied to, and read and mounted on, a linux system). If I build an ext2 filesystem in a sparseimage, is there any way I can get linux to understand and mount it (presumably this requires linux somehow recognising the sparseimage as a partition)? Or alternatively, is there any way to mount an encrypted linux filesystem on OS X? Cross-mounting isn't a solution to my problem; I really need to be able to put a secure filesystem in a file on a USB drive or CD or..., and then read it on a mac or linux system when I plug it in. Even the simple answer "no, it can't be done" would be a great help in saving my time... I'd like to avoid solutions that involve creating a clear copy of the encrypted system in file space (e.g. tar/gzip/encrypt/delete -> copy encrypted decrypt/gunzip/untar) if at all possible. Mechanisms that decrypt on access are much preferable.
    Thanks and Best Wishes
    Bob

I believe TrueCrypt can do what you want.

  • SCOM-Difference between Problem Count and Event Count in Application Failure Analysis Report

    Dear All,
Could someone explain me clearly , the difference between  Problem Count and
Event Count in Application Failure Analysis  Report. Please help me in understanding What is meant be problem and event in the report .
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh Kumar C

    Hello Rajesh,
The "problem" is the logically grouped set of the exception events which have the identical hash calculated over several fields as "Stack", "Source", "Failed Function" and so on... So, even if exceptions are different
in the other properties but hash matches over the considered properties - then all those exceptions go into the same "problem group".
So, event is an instance of the problem. One event contributes to one problem but one problem might have a huge event count if you have a repeating issue.
The logic is similar for the performance analysis report, only fields that go into the "problem" hash are different. e.g. "Stack" is not used in hash for perf events...

  • Can I move project files between a mac and a pc?

I have a PC desktop, which I run Adobe Premiere CS4 and work mainly on.  I am looking into buying a mac book pro to use in the field and for some work while traveling.  I was wondering if I could start a project at home (I work on Firewire Portable Drives) then open it in the mac version then back to the PC when I get home?  Or even the other way around... I just want to go back and forth between the machines seemlessly.
    Thanks!

Other than the physical external formatting, you might want to plan your Assets, so that you have the greatest compatibility between the two platforms, also. Some .MOV CODEC's can cause PrPro problems on the PC side of the street, though in general I have few problems with the ones that I get from most Macs. Same can be true for .AVI's on the Mac side.
I've swapped Projects from Mac's to my PC with no issues to date. Only hangup was the FAT-32 format for the external, because of the Mac compatibility (what Curt pointed out). File sizes have to be kept down due to that. Do not know if the newer Mac OS's can read NTSF, but I do not think so. To overcome this, you should be able to get MacDrive for the PC and use a more efficient formatting than FAT-32. I'd check into this, as a 4GB file limit comes up quickly.
In my case, I just plugged the Mac's external and copied the whole Project & media, to my 2TB NTSF externals and didn't have any problems. Never even needed MacDrive.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • HT1379 The USB ports on my 30" Cinema are not working.  The monitor has not been used for a year or so, and the computer is a Mac Book Pro, 1012 model running OS Mavericks.  I need to move the computer between two locations, and the other monitor is a 27"

The USB ports on my 30" Cinema HD display appear to not work.  The monitor has not been used for almost a year, when I upgraded to a new Mac Book Pro and the 27" retina display.  Now I need to move the computer back and forth between two locations using the two displays.  The need for operating USB ports is essential.  Any ideas.  The display appears entirely normal.  Am running OS X 10.9.

  • QOS on Cisco 1841 between MS TMG and managed Cisco 1841?

Replicating our VM data from our Site A to a Hosted Provider (Site B) for DR purposes.
    Crude annotaion of our network:
    VIRTUAL HOSTS-----NORTEL L3 SWITCH-----MS TMG 2010 EDGE FIREWALL-----ISP MANAGED CISCO 1841-------------------CLOUD---------------SITE B
At times the replication traffic is hogging the connection and causing degraded performance for VPN clients amongst other things.
TMG 2010 doesn't support QOS and we cannot make any changes to the ISP managed Cisco router, nor can we request changes to be made.
My plan was to get a hold of a small switch that supported QOS and place this between the MS TMG and the managed router but we actually have another Cisco 1841 sitting doing nothing, would I be able to use the spare 1841 for this purpose?
    Many thanks

10 Mbps is around the limits of an 1841.  It might or might not have enough capacity.  You could try using it and monitor its CPU when it's dealing with saturated 10 Mbps.
You can police or shape before the 10 Mbps bottleneck.  That will insure you can guarantee bandwidth for the non-replication traffic.
You can only police after the 10 Mbps bottleneck.  If the replication traffic is TCP based, dropped packets should slow the sender, but the sender can often still burst saturate the link before it detects the drops and slows.  If you set a very low bandwidth allowance for the replication traffic, you can often keep it from burst saturating the link.  The other issue with policing, it cannot dynamically allow bandwidth utilization (i.e. prioritization) as you can do with a shaper.
If most of the replication traffic bandwidth consumption is one way, insert the 1841 anywhere upstream (where all traffic will pass through it) of the 10 Mbps bottleneck, and shape or police.  I would recommend shaping with a very low bandwidth allowance for replication (e.g. 1%).  This will allow replication traffic to use all 10 Mbps, but any other traffic will get priority.
If the replication traffic bandwidth consumption is two way, you'll really want a 2nd device, on the other side of the bottle neck.
    PS:
BTW, in lieu of shaping, having your upstream (of bottleneck) also with a physical 10 Mbps interface works even better.  Again, de-prioritize the replication traffic.
    e.g.
    class-map replication
    match
    policy-map phy-10m
    class replication
    bandwidth percent 1
    (optionally random-detect)
    class class-default
    fair-queue
    int 10m
    service-policy output replication

I had some suspect behaviour using the java.lang.management MXBeans (MemoryMXBean, ThreadMXBean, ...). I want to monitor my JBoss Server and for example for the memory heap usage, I found differents values and it depends if I get the HeapMemoryUsage in the JMX Console by the HTML Adaptor or by using my MXBeans. I don't understand why !

I want to use the new function that give you the opportunity to import in iTunes library the new purchased music from iPod.
In order to have both computer able to connect to the iPod I format iPod from PC (FAT32)...

  • Gateway server and Management server in SCOM 2012

What are the main Different between Gateway server and Management server in SCOM 2012?
I have referred this , is there anything ?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2008/02/19/10-reasons-to-use-a-gateway-server.aspx

    1) Management server can write data , gathered from agent, directly into operations manager database. Gateway server should forward data, collected from managed agent to management server.
    2) In a unturst environment for example workgroup or untrust domain, and you do not want to deploy a certificate to every monitored agent, you should deploy gateway server rather than managment server.

    Greetings!!
I would like to know the differences for gateway server setup in Scom 2007 and 2012 versions..
Are there any changes in the data collection or in the configuration? and also the prerequisites for it.
Please let me know these info..
    Regards,

There is no great different in settng up gateway server in SCOM 2007 R2 and SCOM 2012. As summary, it requires
    1.Request certificates.
    2. Import those certificates into the target computers by using the MOMCertImport.exe tool.
    3. Distribute the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.GatewayApprovalTool.exe to the management server.
    4. Run the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.GatewayApprovalTool.exe tool to initiate communication between the management server and the gateway
    5. Install the gateway server.
However, the prerequisites has different between SCOM 2007 R2 and SCOM 2012
SCOM 2007 R2 gateway server support folloiwng OS

  • Exchange 2010 Edge Transport - Not being detected by SCOM agent?

    All,
I recently installed the SCOM 2007 R2 agent onto our Edge Transport server for Exchange 2010.  Our architecture is pretty simple.  We have a DMZ network where I have a SCOM 2007 R2 Gateway server and our Edge Transport server.
    Essentially it goes like this:
Edge Transport Server Agent <-> Gateway Server <-> SCOM RMS server
I have the Exchange 2010 and the FOPE for Exchange 2010 MP's loaded on our RMS server.  When I loaded the SCOM 2007 R2 agent onto our Edge server, the agent discovered it had FOPE and does reflect as such on the RMS server, but it did not seem to pick
up that it was also the Exchange Edge Transport role.
I looked on the RMS server in the Authoring -> Object Discoveries and the Edge transport is set to discover, so I am a little stumped as to why the agent didn't discover the role.
Any suggestions where to look next?

Just a little more detail on this.  I've been working on this exact issue for probably 3 weeks with an engineer.
This issue is actually a bug in the Exchange 2010 MP.
How is it a bug exactly?  Well, the MP is looking for the Active Directory site that the Edge Server is a member of... let's think about this, the Edge server is NOT domain joined, and as such, shouldn't have an active directory site.
Additionally, the regkey path referenced above is incorrect, though it seems that numerous others have figured that out on their own as well.  The correct regkey path should be:
    hklm>system>currentcontrolset >services>netlogon>parameters
So sure, this "fixes" the issue - but the real issue is that the MP is looking for an Active Directory site, on servers that aren't a member of an active directory site. Kind of a BIG oversight by the MP authors in my opinion.
I'm sure there are plenty of orgs relying on SCOM to monitor their Exchange 2010 implementations that don't even realize that their Edge servers aren't being monitored for the Exchange roles.
