Move stuff from old laptop to new

i have my iPhone synced with my old core duo 15" laptop.. i just purchased a core 2 duo 17" laptop. how do i get all my iTunes and iPhone stuff to my new computer? when i try to sync with my new computer, it tells me that it will have to erase my iPhone first
i'm sure there has to be some way to do this.

Backup your iTunes library and restore it on your new Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382
Authorize your new Mac and setup your account in Tunes. Deselect automatic syncing and set up at least one contact and event on your Mac to get the merge prompt when you sync.
Connect your phone and backup manually by right clicking on your phone in the device list. Transfer purchases the same way. Only music and media purchased in itunes will be transfered.

Your phone will be wiped during your first sync and restored from the backup you made when you first connected.

Hold down Option key while clicking on menu bar and Save as will appear.

If you want to transfer your camera roll photos, along with text messages and other data and settings from your old phone to your new one, back up the old phone then restore the backup to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109). If you only want to transfer the photos, import them from your old phone to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then put them in a folder and sync them to your new phone by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing. (Be aware that photos synced to your phone using iTunes can only be deleted later by syncing them off again. They can't be deleted directly on the phone.)

You should be importing any pics taken with iphone to your comptuer regularly, just to be sure

Could you let me know how can i move my configuration from ASA 5510 v.8.0 to the new ASA 5515-x V9.1.1?
i used copy running to TFTP and apply to the new ASA but it has some error like nat and Certificate.
could i export my certificate the old ASA and import to the new ASA, that are different version. Does has any solution without donwtime ?

I do not believe that there is a way to do the transition from old ASA running 8.0 to new ASA running 9.1 without some downtime. But is is possible to minimize the downtime. I have recently done a transition like that and it was not an easy one. As you have discovered if you attempt to copy the old config to the new ASA it will reject as invalid syntax much of the access lists and all of the nat.
The easier way to do the transition is to have an ASA running the old code with the old config and to upgrade that ASA to 9.1. In this process the 9.1 code should read the config from startup and will do a conversion to the new syntax. I have done this going from 8.0 to 8.4 and see no reason why 9.1 would be different. You then only need to check the accuracy of the conversion. And then you can take the converted config and load it on the new ASA. In my recent conversion we did not have an extra ASA with old code, the new ASA does not support the old version, and the downtime to do this on the existing ASA was not acceptable. So I took the access lists and nat and did a manual translation from old to new. I loaded the modified config on the new ASA and did some checking. We then just switched connections from old ASA to new ASA and the downtime was minimal.

It can be possible to use the Migration Assistant, but you must take into account that any recent Photoshop requires activation with a server account, like Apple iTunes does for purchases. To avoid potential problems, you want to make sure that you deactivate any software (like iTunes or Photoshop) that you have installed from any company that requires activation, and then reactivate them after you migrate. Otherwise it is possible that any software you activated might stop working if it notices that the underlying hardware has changed.
Also, you only get 2 activations of Photoshop and 5 of iTunes, so you don't want to lose any because you forgot to deactivate before getting rid of the old Mac.
Migration Assitant is not perfect, so the most reliable way to migrate is to deactivate Photoshop before migrating and then run a clean installation of it after migration using your original media and serial number.

How many files, and what total size?
To move ALL your files from an old Mac, you would use Migration Assistant, using either an Ethernet or Firewire connection. It's not quick, though.
To move just a few, you COULD put the old Mac into target mode (reboot it while holding T, and connect a Firewire cable, with Thunderbolt adaptor on the new end if need be). Or you could just copy them via an external (probably USB, for compatibility) drive or flash drive, formatted Mac Extended.

Transfering photos from old laptop to new with different versions of PS elmnts

We have PS Elements 4 on an old lap top, running Windows Vista, which is beginning to fail.
Have just purchased new lap top running Windows 8 which will not accept PS Elements 4 as it is incompatible, but it has partially loaded.
Shop says they transfered photos across from one to the other but cannot find any of the tags for 7000 plus photos.
Am intending to buy PS Elements 12. but being 70 plus am not computer savvy.
Is there a step by step idiots guide on how to get said 7000 plus photos, complete with all the tags on them, from old LT to new LT at the same time converting them from PSE4 to PSE 12.

sounds like you skipped a step. do you have a "iTunes" folder on the ipod with your music and the itunes library.xml file?

I got a new iPad for Xmas to replace an old laptop not realising I would still have to have a laptop or PC for my main iTunes library. I have got round ths by creating my own area on my partner's laptop & have installed my iTunes library on there. Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content

I tried to back up my songs to an external drive and then import them to the new laptop. It worked for about the first day, but then it wouldn't play my songs. I kept trying and now it plays, but it shows every song i ever purchased since 6th grade! There is a cloud symbol next to some. I have a 2007 macbook on 10.6.8. I have lots of photos that I want to move onto a new Macbook Pro on Yosemite. I have an ethernet cable. I have connected the 2 laptops. I connected to the old laptop on the new one and dragged the iphoto library file onto iPhoto on the new laptop. It asked if I wanted to merge the libraries which I agreed to and now it doesn't seem to be doing anything. When I click iPhoto on the new laptop it says it is upgrading the library. I was going to leave it sitting to do this but it just exits iPhoto after a few minutes. How do I fix this and get the photos on the new laptop?! Thanks.

Don't do that. You will end up with a colossal mess.
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
