"move to new window" opens blank window (no content)

On a tab with content I right click and select "move to new window". A new window opens with an empty "New Tab". The content is still in the old window. Feature worked fine in 3.xx

I find I have the blank windows open only when "cool previews" is enabled. I would like to be able to use both features.

    Hello Gary.
Go into ''Tools > Options > General > Startup:When Firefox starts:'' and configure it as you like.

  • Link in new tab opens blank and "javascript:subValue(1)" is seen in the address bar.

On a specific website, when I left click a link it opens but when trying to open the link in a new tab, the new tab opens blank and "javascript:subValue(1)" is seen in the address bar. This website hosts many, many images which I hope to download using a bulk image save addon but those images must first be in separate tabs. Opening these links in new tabs is vital to the process.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • 2013 Excel WFservlet.xls check exports to Excel and opens blank Windows 7 Ent

    HI All,
I am trying to work through an issue involving an online check through Accounts payable downloading to a blank Excel document. If the user saves the file it opens as it should but if she chooses to open it, it opens blank. If I go to View>Arrange
All> leave the Tile selected (basically do nothing but click OK) and click OK it opens. I have done an Office repair with no luck and also a complete uninstall then used the office removal tool then reinstalled with reboots in-between and still no change.
This computer is on a domain and I can get the check to export to excel without any issues on another computer so I know it's not her roaming profile. I can get it to work on my machine and others as me, admin and her but on her machine no luck. I have opened
IE settings on her machine and a working machine and matched the settings exactly as well as Excel settings. I have started Excel in safe mode and exported but no luck. I have disabled all add ins in excel and added the site to compatibility settings and trusted
sites in IE. I reset the browser and deleted history with all options selected.
In the beginning I was receiving the error "The file format and extension of ".xls" don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust its source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?" I checked the following
In Windows Explorer Tools > Folder Options > View tab > made sure "Hide extensions for known file types" was unchecked.
    I also did
Open your Registry (Start -> Run -> regedit.exe)
    Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\12.0\EXCEL\SECURITY
Right click in the right window and choose New -> DWORD
Type “ExtensionHardening” as the name (without the quotes)
Verify that the data has the value “0″
    No luck.
If I log into the computer as local admin or my domain account it still opens blank.

The file will open in Chrome but I am wondering if that's because Chrome downloads the file as if I choose to save the file opens fine. I am going to run the OffCAT will post my findings.

  • PDF opens blank window

I have an application that opens pdf in an iframe. There are several pdfs that are opening fine. However, after the most recent Reader 10.1 upgrade, a particular pdf is showing a blank frame. The pdfs stream data from the server and display the populated pdf.
The pdf opens up fine the first time it is opened. The second time it is opened, it displays a blank frame. I have waited 10 minutes for it and nothing displays. If anything, it should open faster the second time. If I shut down IE and reopen, it again works the first time and then it fails the subsequent times. If this is not the first pdf opened when IE is brought up, then it shows the blank frame when you open this pdf.
The pdf data is streamed from the server.
There is a link on the site to open the pdf. The link opens up an input dialog. After filling in a couple of fields in the dialog and hitting OK, the pdf opens. I mention this because there are other pdfs in the site that do not take input; these pdfs open directly from a link; these stream data from the server; and these pdfs open fine every time I open them.Windows XP Service Pack 3, IE 7, Adobe Reader 10.1
This pdf was working fine in Reader X and previous versions of Reader.
This pdf works fine in Windows 7, IE 8 and IE 9.
This pdf works fine in Windows XP, IE 8.
Can someone help me figure out what is causing this pdf to fail?

Thank you very much for the reply. I followed your instructions. This fixed half of the problem. Links to pdf files that are on web pages now come up with a box that asks if I want to open or save the file, without a blank browser window in the background. That is great.
When I tested the fix with pdf file links in email, the problem still exists. I tested links in Outlook Express, Yahoo mail, and Gmail. Any time I click on a pdf link in an email, a blank Firefox window opens and then I get the small window that asks me if I want to open or save the file. Sounds like this is a configuration issue, not a technical problem. Thanks for your help.

  • Firefox opens blank windows, plus a normal window with my previous sessions, whenever I start (Firefox 6 on Windows XP) so how do I make it stop doing that?

Since upgrading to Firefox 6 my Windows XP computer opens about 40 blank Firefox windows whenever I start or restart Firefox. I get my previous session (a single window with multiple tabs) but also these 40+ blank windows that I have to close. So I close them all, restart, and get same thing.

  • Odd "progress bar"-like window opens occasionally, Windows Task Manager associates it with AcroRd32.

We've had a few users report an odd grey "progress bar" style window open up when Adobe Reader is open.  The box has no title bar and no activity is displayed.
There is no close gadget or other buttons, just a blank space that looks like a progress meter.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it does only seem to happen on the computers that are running DisplayLink.  These would be Windows 8 (32-bit or 64-bit) or 8.1 (64-bit) installs running on Microsoft Surface tablets or Dell Latitude E-series laptops.  We have a number of Win8x machines out there, but the box only appears on those running DisplayLink.
If the box appears, opening Task Manager typically shows multiple (more than 2) instances of AcroRd32.exe running, and closing them all (one by one) through Task Manager will make the box go away.
We don't see anything get recorded in the Windows logs.
I know of two instances where this has occurred that were on Surface tablets where the user was just coming in for the day, waking their tablet from sleep (not a cold-start), and one of the first things they did was open a PDF file.  I cannot say whether the wake-from sleep is also a commonality or not as this "progress bar" box appears randomly and infrequently.
It has been observed on machines running Adobe Reader XI and X.  It occurred this morning on a tablet that is running the latest XI 11.0.06.  It has been observed on machines running various versions of DisplayLink, including the latest public release.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this box to appear?

    Hi,
You can consider the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems Reset Firefox] feature via '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information'''. If the problem persists, please also try to '''Disable''' the Yahoo Browser Plus '''Plugin''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > Add-ons''' and possibly other related plugins.

  • AIR: allow scripted window.open popup windows for specified sites ?

I'm adding desktop interaction to an existing webapp using AIR.
The webapp allows portlets to be undocked into their own window using a scripted "window.open" call.
When running the webapp in AIR, the "window.open" call is blocked (window ref returned is "undefined").
Presumably AIR is detecting the invocation of "window.open" isn't directly linked to the mouse click event.
With a "standard" browser, you can configure the popup blocker to allow popups for urls specified as Exceptions.
Is there a way to do this in AIR ?  (either by config or by overriding one of the AIR classes).
I've looked at using a custom HtmlHost but the popup blocking occurs before the HtmlHost.createWindow () call

I couldn't find a way to customize the pop-up blocker in AIR.
I tested the same thing with Safari 4.0.5 (AIR uses WebKit 4.0.3) and got the same result.
After some testing I found that changing the Javascript to ensure that the event was bound to "onClick" fixed it (previously was bound to "onMouseDown")

  • Opening New Window opens a window w. no Bookmakrs Toolbar. toggling the View..Bookmarks Toolbar does make it appear.

in addition, the new window shows two top "bands" around hte window. One says Firefox, the one below it says Firefox w a drop down menu.

    Sounds like an extension conflict.

  • Window.open or window.showModalDialog question

I am creating a response window using window.showModalDialog.
The dialog has a Yes button and a No button.
If the user clicks No, I want to log them out.
    BUT...here is my problem:
The user can click the X button in the upper right hand corner of the dialog. This will close the window, but will not execute the Yes code or the No code.
I tried adding a <body> tag to my JSP that says on the onUnload, execute the same function that is called when the user clicks on the No button. But I am using htmlb tags, and I don't think I can put in an extra <body> tag.
I tried, but my function is not executing when the window close (on the unLoad).
Can you create the dialog window without the X button?
Or...is there some way to execute code when using HTMLB that does the same thing as a body onUnload when using HTML?

    Hi Eric,
You cannot create a window without the x button (this is a standard windows action).
Perhaps you can try adding the onUnload event in the BODY tag. If this does not work, try to catch the event.
Pls have a look at this code (the x button works in the example):

    cheers,

after installing camstudio i'm stuck with this. although my Firefox isn't disturbed i wanna rid it asap.help!

Note that such a chrome URL shows a problem with an installed extension (Firefox uses the chrome protocol to access built-in files and files used by extensions).
    In this case a quick_start related extension is involved (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).

  • When opening Apple Mail links 2 Firefox Windows Open, The top one is blank and the one behind it contains the web link page???

Whether with previous version of Firefox, or new one (3.6.4), when I open an Apple Mail link, Firefox opens 2 windows. Top window is blank, window behind it contains web page for mail link that I hit. I can't find anything in preferences of mail or Firefox to resolve this issue.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

I have discovered one solutionto my problem, which is not really convenient and is something I don't have to do with Safari 5 -- If I have Firefox open, but not a window open, then when I click on an Apple Mail link, only 1 window opens. But I don't always want to have my browser open, so this is kinda annoying. I'd rather not use Safari -- Firefox is so much better. Please fix this! Thanks.

  • When clicking CTRL+Link my new tab opens in the background window, instead of the foreground window I'm using. Is there a way to make this work the way it used to, where the new tab always opens in whatever window I was currently using?

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.

That didn't work, but thank you very much for the offer of help. I had already tried that option.
To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.
    1. Goto [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/centered_popup.htm http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/centered_popup.htm]
    2. Click the GO in the center of the box on their page (This creates a pop-up window with links to other programming pages)
    3. CTRL+left click any of those links. The page opens in the background/original window, not the pop up window where you are currently working. And, with your solution takes me back to that window and the new tab.
