Move tool again

I'm sorry but the move tool isn't working again.  I have a blue background layer and a text layer.  Neither of the layers are locked.  When I'm on the background layer the handles on the move tool appear but they don't appear on the text layer.  I need to resize the text layer,

If I understand you well you want a bigger or smaler Font (Letter Size) if so then go to Window and on the dropdown menu click on Character.
Noww double click on the T in the square in the layers palette and change whatever you want in the Character Palette.
Perhaps this is your problem: Go to the Move tool and then select the text layer (click on an empty space to the rigght of the T box. select or deselect "Show Transform Controls".in the Optios bar like John sayd. Hope this helps

  • Move tool crashes Photoshop CS4

    Hey =]
I have quite a large problem with  PS CS4,
Whenever I use the move tool, I get the message "Photoshop CS4 has encountered a problem and needs to close"
    I'm running Vista 32-Bit.
It worked fine until about a week ago when I de-fragged my HDD, I've tried Uninstalling and then Re-Installing, no luck.
So I tried to delete my preferences, again nothing, so then I tried resetting the tool preferences, once again, no luck =/
I also tried Installing my old copy of CS3 and the same problem occurred.
I have the latest version of CS4, my drivers are up to date and so is my version of Windows.
Any Ideas? They'll be much appreciated.
    Thanks =]

Look in the Vista event log and post the crash information please.
    Update PS CS4 to 11.0.1?
Did you try to delete the prefs the MANUAL way? Here is how to do it in case you didn't.

  • Photoshop Elements select tool, when targeting layer or multiple layers the layer properties box pops up.  Having to very carefully and repeatedly select and highlight layers to move, or merge when using Move Tool.  Win 8, Adobe 12, Intuos 4 w/ updated dr

This issue has been going on for several weeks.
The Move Tool is not functioning properly when selecting and TARGETING a layer or multiple layers, as the Layer Properties box pops up requiring me to close it and try again.
How to reset or is there an update and fix for this issue.
Using Win 8, Elements 12, and Intuos 4 Pen and Tablet.

To reset the tool I suggest click on it once and then look for something like this in the bottom half of your window:
In the above picture I have marked one section in red box.  You need to click on it to get the option to either reset the only tool you have clicked or to reset all the tools in the editor window.  Of course you have to be in Expert Mode to get this to work.
    Good luck.

  • Photoshop CS5 - Image resize problem with move tool

    Hi People
    Here's my problem
When I try to resize an layer using the move tool (as opposed to the Free Transform tool), while I'm in the process of moving the scaling handles, the bounding box reflects my movement but the layer preview stays at it's original size. When I stop moving the handles there is a few seconds delay and then the new scale size shows up. If I try to move the handles again, without commiting to the transform, the layer preview reverts back to it's original size until I've finished moving the handles.
I didn't have this problem with CS4 and I've only recently upgraded. I work around this problem by using the proper Free Transform tool (ctrl+t) but it would be nice to know why the hell this happens. It seems to me to be more of a graphical glitch than a software preference but I thought I'd check just-in-case.

I also read you you tried updating your video dirvers and your syste crashed and you had to roll back.   Make sure you have downloaded the latest correct drivers. If that does not work try turning off Open GL in photoshops preferences.
On my old XP 32 bit system CS5 movet tool with transform dialog does not fail like on your system. I can move the handles time and time again without commiting the transform. The only way to have Photoshop revert the transform back to the original state is to press the ESC key to cancel the uncommitted transform.

  • Move tool layer context menu acting differently to "Auto Select"?? (using 12.0.4)

    Okay,
This is weird. I've just updated my mac photoshop to 12.0.4 and I'm finding that, when using the Move Tool and right/command clicking on an object, the context menu that pops up isn't selecting the right layer?
To be clear, it is highlighting a layer (this is not the initial Photoshop 12.0 bug that drove everyone mad until the update) but it's the wrong one? Results vary depending on where I'm clicking, sometimes it's "close" to the layer I want, say the group it's nested within, other times it's a million miles off.
Yet when I switch on "Auto Select" it's pin-point accurate again? It's like the brain has dropped out of my context menu and it doesn't know what to select.
Obviously I can keep switching "Auto Select" on, but that's an annoying change to my work flow and will slow me down no end. Mores to the point, clearly something is up here.
I've updated to 12.0.4 on my home imac (on 10.5.8 OSX if that helps) but I've been using 12.0.3 (possibly 12.0.2) in the studio where I work and never noticed this issue, it's just now after updating to 12.0.4 at home i'm noticing this weirdness.
Anyone have any ideas, I'm at a loss.
    Thanks in advance people,
    G

  • Content-Aware Move Tool no longer working.

Background:  I use Windows 7.  I recently starting using Lightroom (downloaded 5.5 64 bit a few days ago).  I edited a photo in there, exported it, opened it in Photoshop CC 64 bit. My goal was to remove a pole with the content-aware move tool and an added layer.  At first, it worked like it usually does.  However, I attempted to do the same with another photo and it began saying  "selected area empty" even when I had my new layer selected, forcing me to perform my edits on the background layer. I have tried opening all types of files: CR2, JPEG, TIFF, PSD, including photos that I know were never edited in Lightroom and which I had previously been able to use this tool on.  Photoshop is not allowing me to use the content-aware move tool on any layer besides the background in any of these formats.
Furthermore, it no longer performs an automatic fill-in based upon the surrounding area when I delete the content that I have moved.  At times, it provides me with a "Fill" window  (at which point I can manually select "Content Aware") or it provides me with no option and simply deletes the selected area INCLUDING the background behind it.
I have tried restarting the programs with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated as this has pretty much halted by ability to work. Thank you!

Alright, so I downloaded CC 2014.  I opened it and first attempted using the content aware move tool on a photo that I had edited ONLY in Photoshop prior to this.  The tool worked again.
Then I attempted opening a few photos that I had been editing in Lightroom earlier today and then had exported as a new file so I could apply some corrections in Photoshop (i.e., removing stuff with the content aware tool). These files (I attempted a file that I had exported as a CR2 (original file type) and a file that I had exported as a PSD) are exhibiting the same issue I discussed above.
I closed the program completely.  Reopened the first photo (the one that had only been edited in Photoshop prior to this) and now the issue is reoccurring with that file too.
The issue seems to reside with the files that I am trying to move from Lightroom to Photoshop.  Unfortunately, once this issue occurs with one photos, it seems to be ruining my ability to use the content aware tool with all my files, whether they were ever touched in Lightroom or not.
Rebooting the program and my computer has not helped.

  • Using the move tool

I am using Ps Elements 10. I have opened a background and an image I want to move to the background. The move tool locates the moved image in the center of the background and will not allow me to change locations for the moved image to another spot on the background. What can I do to solve this?

Thanks, but I have figured it out. I did not want to move a portion of one photo to another. I wanted to create an page with the same picture repeated several times on a white background. I found that if I put the image I want to repeat on my work space, I can pull down the edit menu and use the "add blank page" which gave me room to repeat the image several times on the blank page. It's kind of a weird way to do it but it worked for me this time. I haven/t tried adding other images to the blank page, but I'll figure that out later when I need that option. Thank you very much for giving me as much help as you could. I really appreciate it. I think I am going to buy an older version of photoshop, maybe PSE 8 since it is the oldest version that will work with Windows 7 and see if it is easier to use. Thanks again.

  • Movie Tools Convert to MP3 Error

I've been using the convert to MP3 movie tool regularly for 5 or 6 months to flatten the .mov file recordings I get from my skype call recorder program. Recently, the converter has been giving me the following errors for no apparent reason (NOTE: these were in separate pop-up windows)
"Sorry. There was an error trying to convert the file. File Macintosh HD:private:var.folders:sQ:sQu-28IJFAmlvC6ylNRsKE+TI:-Tmp-:-Tmp-:pathToFile wasn't found."
    "Cannot Create MP3
    Error:MP3 file was not created.
    Error: -36"
Looking for a fix/recommendation to get it working again!
    Thanks - Daryl

Began happening after years of use. Could it be related to an iTunes update?
    Anyone found a workaround?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4/5 Crashes when using the Move Tool

Hello. I'm here because I'm having an issue with Photoshop.
I was trying out CS5 when it started to crash every time I tried to use the Move Tool. It was the generic error message: "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working.
A problem has caused Adobe Photoshop CS4 to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Thinking that it was a CS5 issue, I went back to my copy of CS4, only to find the same thing happening there (I also downgraded because CS5 was also crashing at other random times for some reason, but that's an issue for another time).
This puzzles me because both were working fine before. Granted, I hadn't opened them for a while, but it was a sudden thing.
My first impulse was to uninstall and reinstall CS4. No luck. So then, I uninstalled all third-party plugins, thinking that might be it. Still, the same problem. I started looking around on Google for solutions and found the instructions on resetting the Tool preferences (I chose to reset the preferences for ALL of the tools). When that didn't work, I tried deleting the preferences file outright, which said instructions recommended. Nothing.
I should note that Photoshop crashes when using the Move Tool to move an object without ant lines around it, i.e., a layer. I'll move the object, and after two to three seconds, the mentioned error message will appear and Windows will close Photoshop. This, however, only seems to happen after selecting, copying, and pasting part of a large object with some variation of the Marqee Tool (thus making that part a new layer by default) while working at a zoom of 100%. So, in short, working with a large image like <a href=http://www.wallpaper4me.com/images/wallpapers/ergo_proxy_267_1280-862301.jpeg>This</a> at 100% zoom. The image linked is the image that I was using and am currently using to reproduce the problem. It is 1280x1024 pixels. I have tested this with somewhat smaller, yet comparable images too. Same problem. I have never had this problem working with large images before, and I wonder if anyone has any suggestions short of formatting my hard drive.

Even a decent RAM upgrade is usually only a few hundred dollars nowadays, but it's not a trivially simple process.  That said, with a little research and care you can do it.  Alternatively, you can hire people (e.g., "Geek Squad") to do such an upgrade.
First, you'll need to know what your operating system capacity is.  For example, a 32 bit Windows system can really only use up to a bit more than 3 GB of RAM, while a 64 bit Windows system can use all the RAM you can find a place to plug in.  What version of Windows are you running?
Then you'll need to determine what RAM you have installed and what your computer's maximum RAM capacity is - usually you can do this through internet research, either by visiting your computer manufacturer's web site or doing google searches.  There are even RAM manufacturer web sites that will tell you what kind of RAM your computer needs and suggest sources, for example:
    http://www.kingston.com/
It may be that you can just plug additional chips into currently empty sockets, or it is possible you'll need to replace the RAM chips you have installed in your computer to make room for an upgrade.  Every computer is different.
If you list your computer model and current RAM that you have installed here, it may be that someone can help with more specific advice.

  • How do I use the move tool in CS5 to put two images on to an A4 sheet?

Have recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5.
I often print out two images on A4 paper.  Under CS3 I would simply adjust and crop 2 images to say 7 ins x 5 ins, after that bring up a new A4 sized sheet (file, new), then using the move tool I'd move the two separate images on to the A4 sheet and print.  Fine!
Now under CS5, once I've adjusted my first image then try to bring up a second image to adjust that one I seem to lose the first one from the screen.  But on going back via Bridge and clicking on the image it re-appears - problem is, I lose the second image.
When I bring up a new A4 sheet neither of the images stay on the screen and there is nothing to move.
Have been into Preferences to see if there is anything there to help but can't see anything.
Does anyone know what is happening here and what I'm doing wrong i.e. how do I get 2 separate images on to an A4 sheet?
    Thanks,
    Bob Eveleigh.

There have been changes since cs3, mainly that cs5 uses tabs.
Tabs can be confusing if your coming from cs3.
If your in the tabbed mode, try going to Window>Arrange>Tile.
All your open documents should be visible on the screen.

  • Adobe Photoshop cs6 problem - it closes after ''move tool'' button

After I push Move Tool button I cannot use any of the buttons bellow in that tool bar, when I try any button after it on closes the program with windows error ''adobe photoshop cs6 has stopped working''
    os: win 7 64bits.
other adobe installed : adobe dreamweaver cs6

OK, it seems to have been narrowed down to the video driver, or to its settings.
What make and model video card do you have?
What is the number and date of the installed driver?
For OpenGL, what are your performance settings?
    Good luck,

  • Photoshop CS4 Crashes when using shift and the move tool

    Please help!
Everytime I click on a layer with the move tool while holding the shift button (so I can constrain the movement), photoshop crashes.  I get a message that says, "Could not use the move tool because of a program error". And then photoshop just shuts down.
Now I can use the move tool without holding shift, but as soon as I hit the shift button and try them together . . . crash!
    What is going on?
I'm wondering if it has something to do with an updated video driver that I installed yesterday.  It wasn't doing this before that.
Suggestions anyone?  Please Please Please Help!

Have you tried rolling back the driver to see if the fault disappears?
You could also try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
(A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.)
