Move tool and command key in photoshop 2014.2 is driving me mad

Hi all,
I'm extremely frustrated with the new move tool in the 2014.2 update. I can no longer able to isolate a selected layer and move it about by holding down command key. Instead every time by holding down command key (while move tool is selected), it'll toggle between layer and group selection. So when you drag, instead of just moving the isolated layers, it'll toggle group and drag the entire group.
Does anyone know how can I revert this back to the good old days or how do I revert back to 2014.1 version.

I was greeted with the same frustration this morning. Talked to a coworker and found a way around the update.
Turn OFF auto-select (I know, it’s a bummer)
Command click layers on your canvas -OR- just select the subfolders and multiple layers in the layers palette.
Drag those selected multiple layers around (no need to hold any key down or aim mouse over layers)
To deselect layers, command click outside canvas
Looks like the update is forcing us to press “Command” PRIOR (instead of during) the move action. Hope it helps, coworker said not using auto-select prevent him to move things by accident.

I'm trying to move a layer within the document by holding command key and mouse dragging (mouse cursor not above the layer) is not working at all while using move tool. Usually when a tool is not working as expected, a Reset of that tool might be the answer.
Select the move tool in the toolbox,
Go to the move tool icon on the top left of the screen (just above the toolbox in its' Option bar) and Ctrl-click on it to get the Reset menu.
Click on Reset Tool.

There is not Content Aware Move or Recompose tool in Premiere Elements.

Zxc and command key not working on apple keyboard

Hi, I'm having issues with certain areas on my Apple keyboard, specifically the zxc and command keys on my keyboard. I have to keep copying and pasting those letters. No spills, no drops, no known reasons for what may cause damage. Any help appre_iated. Thank you in advan_e.

Does it happen with another KB?

Give this a try:
1 -be sure to have a current backup of the iPhoto library.
2 - download and launch http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/BatChmod.
3 - click on the File button, locate and select your iPhoto Library.
4 - check the Unlock and Apply to enclosed checkboxes.
5 - make no changes to the other checkboxes
6 - click on the Apply button.

Option and Command Key Swapped on Built-in Keyboard

My option and command keys are swapped on the built in keyboard. They work fine with a external USB keyboard. I have checked that the keyboard & mouse > modifier keys preference and they aren't remapped in there. In fact, changing the mapping in there has no affect on the command and option keys.
Any suggestions? Is there a plist file that I can trash?

I was finally able to fix this by plugging in my non-Apple external keyboard. Once I did this, a drop down menu appeared in the modifier keys window that let me select the internal MacBook keyboard and fix the mapping issue.

why can I only have three layers: the reason is that you most likely are using the maximum dimension.
you can then only use three layers. If you would work with smaller dimensions you would get more layers.
Repositioning the selection - you can do this by pressing on the selection and moving it Or you can use the selection/transform.
Move tool - if you want to move a selected area use transform (icon that looks like a cross) - note that it can lead to minor artifacts depending on how good your selection was.
If you want to move all pixels on a layer withuot selection it will do that too.

How can I view mov, mp4, and avi files in Photoshop 12?

thanks for your reply Tom. the video is from cameras, video cameras, vhs tapes, and mini dvds. everything looks much worse after import into fcpx; i haven't imported hd files. The specs. are, everything gets blurry and color pales. i just tried importing four more files (and optimized), all mov, (no avi or mp4), and there is no change in quality. I'm comparing the video in fcpx to the same video before it was imported. i've compared it side by side to the files being played in quicktime, real player, idvd, and el gato eye tv (third party video capture software). everything is crisp and color is vibrant before going into fcpx.

The Move Tool not working in InDesign CC 2014, no click-and-drag. What Can I do to fix it?

It just started not working this week. I am unable to click-and drag anything in my document with the Move Tool. I have noticed that I can click-and-drag objects if I switch to the Free Transform Tool. Ok work around for now but I want to fix the issues. I have tried deleting the preferences and reinstalling the program but with no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Why does the move tool and the resize function freeze when I insert pictures to a layer?

This is very annoying. I was stupid enough to buy a one year subscription to Photoshop CC, only to find that it is ruining my happiness. I am trying to run it on a brand new Macbook Pro 15 retina i7 running Yosemite, and everything works fine, except for this one thing - when I drag a new photo into a layer, the resize function and the move tool stops working for a very long time. If I am patient enough, the functions will finally wake up. Is there a way to get around this problem? I have searched the forum without any luck, and I am just about to start jumping up and down, calling Adobe by names that will make my neighbors cover up their ears. $/!"%%#/&%"#W)!ÆY!!!

Right-mouse on the Synaptics toolbar icon to bring up Mouse Properties, select the Device Settings tab, press Settings to bring up Properties for Synatpics ClickPad, on the left open Pointing... Sensitivity... Palm Check. This is a feature to prevent accidental touchpad movement by your palm while you're typing. So it prevents use of the touch pad when keys are directly used.

Problems with "v", "]", and command keys on the keyboard

On my MacBook, pressing either the "v" key or the command key to the left of the space bar, without pressing the other one as in a keyboard shortcut, pastes what is currently on my clipboard. Pressing only the command key to the right of the space bar, and not the "]" key in combination, moves me forward in my web browser. When I do press the "]" key, nothing happens (I had to copy and paste the "]" and the "v" for this post). Obviously this is somewhat annoying as typing anything with these two symbols becomes a chore. I am still able to use other keyboard shortcuts, however, but in doing so the command key either pastes from the clipboard or, if I'm using a web browser, moves me to the next page in my history before completing the shortcut. How can I fix this? Thanks.

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound (bong) for four times.
6. Release the keys.
If neither help, you could have a hardware issue with the keyboard.

Possible to swap shift and command keys?

I would like to change my keyboard settings so that my MacBook reads my shift key as the command key and vice versa. From extensive (or at least time-consuming) Googling, I found out how I should be able to do this, except that when I go to
System Preferences --> Keyboard --> Keyboard tab --> Modifier Keys,
the shift key is not included as one of the modifier keys whose functions can be altered.
It seems unlikely, but I thought I'd ask: can anyone come up with a workaround that would let me make the change I want?
I want to make this change for several reasons, which I anticipate having to justify. In brief, 1) I don't like having to move my hand so far off the standard position, asdf and jkl;, in order to copy, paste, undo, etc. with the command button, and 2) I use Boot Camp for Windows XP, VirtualBox for Windows XP, and GIMP for Mac, all of which use shift the aforementioned shortcuts, and even after 11 months I still have trouble switching back and forth between the shift and command mindsets.

Trouble with the brush tool and shortcut keys on a Mac

If I select the brush tool and use it on an image, then go to use shortcut keys like to make the brush bigger, or smaller, to zoom in/out, or change the colour for the mask etc, it won't work. I need to select another tool then go back to the brush tool to make the shortcuts work again. After working for a bit again the shortcuts won't work. Has anyone got any idea on how to fix this?
I am on a Mac.
