    I currently have an AMD64 X2 5600+ stock 200Mhz OC'd to 217MHz (14x)
At 100% utilization the cpus are running at around 54-56C (1.35V)
TMPIN1 which is the northbridge I think, is around 46C
TMPIN2 which judging by the heat coming off the plate, is the transistor/power cluster temp is showing 120C. Another clue that this isn't a chip is the fact my motherboard still works and the temp hasn't risen at all during the OC process :P
    TMPIN3 is 30-31C.
At this OC the memory frequency is ~434MHz (corsair xms2 ddr800)
This seems stable but I'd like to push it a little further.
Is it possible to fry your memory with the Overdrive utility autoclocking it?
I haven't done much with this utility and am not sure where to draw the line...
I'm pretty amazed I was able to let it go this far and still be stable.
I'm well aware of what happens when OC goes bad 8) but really want to know how far you can trust this tool to not let the smoke out...
I'm going to run for a few days like this and test stability. I've played around with OC in the past but am really a complete n00b doing it on newer boards, especially the 790 series.

VDroop set to 100% is all you are going to get. 1.344v's should get you about 44-46X on the cores on 'Auto'. The voltage goes down from there with the lower VDroop settings. With CPU V. set to 'Auto', you get power saving, soon as the CPU V. is taken out of 'Auto', you lose it. No, the CPU speed may lower, but the voltage going to it will not.
VDroop is not a true offset feature like can be found on other brands of boards. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162779.0
Most folks around the industry recognize 1.350v's as the recommended limit for socket 2011 CPU's, so 1.344v's is fairly close to that anyway.
So when i set the voltage and the cpu multiplier i loose power saving features right?
    Thanks for the reply

Oh well I guess I have to try to figure out what these settings do myself. Seems to work roughly like I thought it would. Although not quite, Override 1,1v turns into 1,12v under load and Override 1,1v + offset 0,02 somehow turns into 1,136v close enough I guess.
Was just afraid I'd enter 1,1v and it would set the voltage to something entirely different. Seems to work roughly like you'd expect. Still don't know what would make the CPU run stable overclocked when idle, have to experiment I guess.
Seems setting the voltage to override and higher than the Auto: 1.05v makes the minimum voltage when idle slightly higher

I/O is ridiculously high. I can run Corsair RAM at 2800 on only I/O of 1.09v's, SA 0.970v's. Bernhard is right, '1.52v's' on the CPU is 'Absolute Max.', and the industry recommendation is not to exceed '1.400v's'.
Nominal DRAM V. for the platform is 'not' 1.65v's, but 1.50v's + or - 0.075v's. Your RAM sounds like overvolted, undertimed, overated RAM.
GT is the onboard graphics. GT ratio 32 is about all it can handle on default voltage.
It's your stuff, if you want to test higher, the risk to the components and lifespan is all up to you.
I think Bernhard wanted to link the Gen3 CPU datasheet rather than the Gen2.
I found datasheet for third gen of intel core, exact
G.skill ddr3 pc17000 is delivered with nominal voltage 1.65v for 2133Mhz, where is problem ?  I've just made 3 hours of occt  at 2600mhz, not tested higher for now
So I/o in auto mode is really too high with 1.25V ? so i took this voltage as nominal reference
Not so easy to overclock ivy bridge, I 'll stop to search highest frequency, 4,6Ghz even with 1.36V is not stable in occt with too high core temps 80°C, so sa xmad sayed, 4.5Ghz is a nice overclock
I'll try to optimise DDR speed and timing now.
    Thanks for answers

Updated my BIOS a few days ago, now there is no way to OC. From what I understand I enable "My OC Genie" but that option isnt even availible. No way to change multiplier or voltage. Plus a few other things.

  • Iphone Limitations Question

I'm so excited for its release within the next couple of days but I have a question about the limits/restrictions that apple has put on these applications. Can anyone elaborate on the possible apps (i.e. new themes, screen savers, video record, copy and paste, flash player, live TV, ect.).
I know that people will say that live TV is not possible but MLB.com is coming out with an app that allows live TV streaming.
Any details would be great thanks.

they havent really said much...i know some may be free and others may charge a fee to download(this is up to the application's creator)...ther is a limit, i believe, of 2GB for an application..most im sure will not be that big.
i believe MLB.com might use Flash for live broadcasts, but as of right now Adobe, creator of Flash, have only said that they are trying to develop a Flash application for the iPhone

  • 4GB limitation questions

Couple of questions regarding the 4GB limit:
Are indexes included in the 4GB?
    How is the 4GB measured?
Is there a way to query the database to find out how close to the limit the database is? (preferably a simple SQL query, so that an application can warn about impending space limits on startup).
    Thanks for any response.

  • MOVED: P67-GD65 Memory Questions

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Undervolting & Modding Corner as it is focused on Overclocking.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=146781.0

Your memory is an example of overclocked and overvolted 1066 chips.
See the max bandwidth in the SPD Tab. PC3-8500F (533) i.e. 1066 and that is what they defaulted to, correctly.
If you inspect the SPD tab you will see 4 JEDEC profiles the last one (XMP) being DDR3-2000 at increased timings but requiring 1,65V which is not JEDEC standard.
Based on these profiles you will have to manually set your memory in the BIOS.
Go into your BIOS and manually select a DRAM ratio that sets your memory to 1333. Set your memory timings manually to 9.9.9.26, those will be the first 4 timings in the list of manually adjustable timings.
Then test your system. If that is stable, then use the same timings but set the memory to 1600. For this test increase your DRAM voltage to approx 1,55V.
    Test and report back.
You need a 64bit OS to be able to access more than about 3GB available RAM. If you have XP 32bit, you should have bought 2 X 2GB and saved a couple of dollars. You can read this thread as well. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108883.0

    Thats right, as 10acjed said
    (2x) 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (6-6-6-18 @ 400Mhz) (5-5-5-15 @ 333Mhz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266Mhz )
I can also choose 800 Mhz like the picture of his, but the adjusted dram frequency differs and 800 will result in like ~999.
Btw the dram Mhz is on generally on [auto], but that is the same as 800.
So I set it to 667, So the adjusted dram freq will be around 830.
that could be your problem right there. Is that when you are running at 300 FSB??
Try it at 533 and see what happens... If it is at 830 when set to 667 and you try and raise the cpu  higher its also raising the ram higher, probably causing an issue..
I am still pretty sure you are hitting a wall with that board, its just not a great overclocking board. I am extremely disappointed with my NEO-F as far as overclocking goes. But its been running stable for about 3 years now so its a good board....
If all else fails run it at 300 - 320 (as high as you can get stable) and put the ram at 667 so it runs around 830, ou will have a nice moderate OC...

    K8N SLI PLATINUM QUESTIONS

Okay  finally i overclocked a bit (i am not really in the overclocking business)
With Bios defaults settings without touching anything else i raised FSB to 220 MHz resulting to a 2.2 GHz CPU operating frequency a nice 10% overclock    (of course  i have disabled spread spectrum in bios) reaching that way the Athlon 64 3500+ .
Every thing seemed rock - stable!!..
However, when i tried to shut down the machine,  i got a nice BSOD (Black screen of death) HDD light remained on . As far as i know the board is locking PCI-E , so graphics card and SATA drive should not causing the problem here.
So i raised the CPU core voltage up to 5% and oualla!! Rock stable ( 3 Hours Prime 95)
... did not try to rise chipset voltage or memory voltage (is set to 2.7 volts by memory SPD) since this was not necessary in my case. Might try some more overclocking in the future but right now i am happy with it and just will sit back and enjoy
There is a guy who succeeded in rising FSB to 358!!! Mhz with this board (well almost) he advices just not to enable Aggressive memory timings...
    here
Anyway, Thanks for the tips guys
    Best Regards,
    Markoul

henry,my CM psu is fine, its been running a heavly overclocked [email protected] on a abit IP35 with 4gb of A-Data 1066+ running at 2.35v@1200mhz for 3 years,so i doubt a i3 540 and 4gb of ddr3 is going to really cause it that much of an issue but just to be on the safe side i borrowed a thermaltake toughpower 750 psu and still ran in to exactly the same issues. Also on your advice i borrowed 4gb of crucial ballistix tracers and again same problems i've been having? However on the advice of another H55M ED55 user ive downgraded the bios to 1.3 and used the o.c genie button it'll run at 3.7ghz but i cannot get it to run at that manually? i feel that the board may have a faulty/damaged ram socket because out the 12gb ive tested none will run without bluescreens when socket 1 and 2 are filled but when i only put 2gb of ANY make of ram in socket 1, it will overclock automatically with the BLUE button as i call it(i normaly would never ever use anything like the o.c genie but i'm so tired and p$%ed off with the whole thing!)
if that reply sounds arsey, it really isnt meant to be but nearly 3 weeks 6 forums 200+ views no answers kinda gets to you after a while? and i appreciate everything you've suggested and help you've offered, i'm open to anything else if you have any,no matter how daft the suggestion!
