I've come across to a site that is some sort of official announcement from MSi regarding the upgrade of 'old' motherboards to the AM3+ standards. Since I cannot post external links, I'll just post what it says:
Supported Mainboards
AM3+ Compatible Mainboard
890FXA-GD70 880GMS-E35
890FXA-GD65 870A-G54
890GXM-G65 870A-G54H
880GMA-E55 870A-G46
880GMA-E35 760GM-P33
I have a 880GMA-E45 and according to these news, I'm able to download a BIOS update and make it compatible with AM3+ CPUs.
According to the old announcement you found your board were already not mentioned. As the cpu support chart leads to the same conclusion AM3+ cpus are not supported. Besides these boards would anyway just support old Bulldozer FX cpus not the newer Vishera cpus (like FX6300).

Hi,
Can you tell me this mainboard MSI 880GMA-E45 will support new FX Bulldozer processors?
In official msi global site says just 880GMA-E35 mainboard supports new FX bulldozer of all 880G mainboards but in this site http://www.techpowerup.com/143748/MSI-to-Make-AM3+-Processor-Upgrade-Painless-for-its-Users.html says 880GMA-E45 will support FX processors but with new BIOS version. Is there any confirmed information that this is true?Quote

785GTM-E45 CPU support COMPLETELY MISSING
Howdy all!
I checked the MSI website, I checked this forum, I googled the whole Internet but I cant find a list of working processors with the MB in subj.
http://www.msi.com/service/cpu-support/ leads to a "Not found" page when selecting the MB from the menus. http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/785GTM-E45.html proposes a list of supported CPUs as of BIOS v8.0, but I read here that the BIOS version is currently (?) 8.6.
Where the good 'ol table with which processor is supported starting from which BIOS version has gone? Why the BIOS files are not listed in the "Downloads" section along with a description of the new features? Why this MB has been forgotten by MSI?
Thanks.Try here.

First of all, I'ld like to say i did follow the "Will this CPU work on my board?" topic and I have seen what the site says about the 880GMA-e45. It says it supports Phenom II X6 Thuban HDT90ZFBK6DGR 1090T 200 3.20 3M 6M E0 125w. Now my question is does it support the Phenom II X4 945 which come 125w (and 95w but my supplier only has the 125w)? Thanks for the help!

The board does support 125W CPU's.

My 880GMA-E45 won't read Windows 7 Install disc! Please help me!!!
Hello everyone! I bought an MSI 880GMA-E45 mobo a few days ago and until now, I can't find a way to install Windows 7 Ultimate on the thing. I tried installing Vista Starter and it worked perfectly. I also installed Ubuntu 10.04 from a USB stick, and it also worked fine (on the 2nd attempt). But I've been trying my darndest to install Windows 7, which is going to be the system's main OS, and it seems to refuse to read the installation disc.
I installed Vista, booted up, then inserted the Win 7 disc, and it still can't be seen in My Computer!!! Is this a common problem with this mobo or did I get a bum board? I've tried changing DVD drives (several times) to no avail.
I've been at it for the 3rd day now, still no luck with Windows 7. Please help. I know I'm doing the installation correctly since I got Vista installed on it 3 times already and Ubuntu twice. I've done numerous Win 7 installations on other PCs but this is the first time that I've had problems like this. I'm really at the end of my wits here...
BTW, the Windows 7 Installation disc works file when I tested it on another machine, so that can't be the problem.
Here's the setup:
MSI 880GMA-E45
AMD Athlon II x2 245
Gskill Ripjaws X 2x2Gb DDR3-1333
Nvidia GTX-460 1Gb Video Card (I tried it with and without this installed)
WD Caviar Green 1Tb HDD (Where Vista is right now)
Seagate 160Gb Barracuda SATA (Where Ubuntu is)
3 x 80Gb Eaglestor SATA HDDs (to be installed as a RAID0 array and where Windows 7 will go)Quote from: Fredrik on 18-October-11, 23:32:59
" Hello!
You most likely have a memory problem. Use as little hardware as possible when installing, and only one of everything, no extra cards or USB things. One stick of memory for example, and should the problem remain try the other. "
Hello Fredrik!
I tried that already using 4 sticks of RAM inserted one at a time. It didn't work either.
I already found the solution! Here's everything I did in detail...
On another computer, I formatted a USB stick using NTFS, then made it bootable using DISKPART and BOOTSECT. I wasn't sure if those bootable USB stick software would give the same result. In my case, I wanted everything to be as basic and as native Windows as possible.
Then copied all the contents of the Windows 7 installer disc to the USB stick, inserted the stick to one of the the rear USB ports in my PC, then booted from there. I didn't set the BIOS boot from the stick anymore. I just used F11 instead. It booted up properly, then went on to install Windows normally. I just had to have the RAID drivers on the USB stick as well, since I knew Windows would be looking for it from all the Vista installs I made earlier...
Now, everything works as it should.
BTW, is there a problem with this mobo and IDE DVD drives? That was one of my theories. Since all the DVD drives I used in the failed installations of Win 7 were IDE drives except one, which was an external USB drive. It didn't occur to me to try and use a SATA DVD drive. Besides, I didn't have access to SATA DVD drives at the time anyway, so I had no choice. Do you think it could have worked?
Also, I emailed MSI tech support who suggested I flash the BIOS. It didn't work either and the mobo ended up not booting and getting stuck after POSTing at the "Checking NVRAM" message, so I reflashed it to the original BIOS version.
I hope my mis-adventures with this mobo and my solution would be of help to someone someday as I don't think this is an isolated case. I seem to have read somewhere in a forum about a similar problem that happened several months back but the thread was closed without the solution being posted.
Thank you to everyone who gave their opinions!
PS: I almost bought a new Gigabyte motherboard earlier today because I was already getting frustrated with this one. Good thing I didn't.... -

Hi Guys,
I'm new here. anyway, can anybody teach me how to overclock using this motherboard? below is my current setup:
Cooler Master Elite 430 Black
HEC Cougar 700W CM 80PLUS Bronze
MSI 880GMA-E45
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8Ghz (still stock clocks, with stock heatsink fan.)
4GB (Dual) DDR3-1600 G.Skill RipJaws CL9
Sapphire HD 6850 1GB GDDR5
640GB WDC Black 64MB
Can I overclock my X6 1055T to around 3.4Ghz while using my stock HSF? I plan get a Thermaltake Frio and OC it to 4+Ghz. Are these realistic targets?hehehheheheh you really shouldve kicked in a few more bucks and the 1090t BE x6, the 1055t with stock cooler should get 3.55ghz easily however make sure you add more voltage to the cpu, also read up on your products I know this seems like a pain in the ass but if you take the time to read about your products you can ask direct questions about over clocking... this ----> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=40413.0 is a damn good place to start first.
Also I do not recommend overclocking with stock cooler. Not to say they are bad just saying that you are adding more voltage and heat to your system. Seems in my 17 years of building/playing with computers the stock heatsinks are made to fit the already set manufactures specs. i.e. if the cpu is a 3.20ghz then all they make is a heatsink to deal with those temp settings.
I have got a stable 4.04ghz on my x6 1090t shown here alittle (all on air cooling)
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=146059.0
However I feel like every system has a "sweet spot" a zone where if tuned right you get the max performance for current build. Like mine ended up being 3.84ghz memory @ 1602mhz fsb to 240
I think 4ghz on the 1055t is very doable as long as you keep it cooled, also keep your room temps to about 68-70F as far as doing it to 3.40 on a stock cooler i wouldn't see why not?? but don't see much of a gain to increase it only few MHz?? -
Maximum Athlon XP CPU support ; enter yours !
I’ve a K7T Turbo Limited Edition (3.X with Bios 3.4) but i cdo not understand what is the maximum CPU supported; In fact :
The manual says Athlon 1.3Ghz
The Board product page says Athlon XP 2Ghz
The CPU support page says Athlon XP 1.8Ghz (the OK stops there)
The Bios page says the ver. 3.3 bios supports XP up to 2Ghz
It’s a little messy, isn’t it ?Quote

Any higher can work, but you might blow the board because of the powerconsumption of these CPU's....
As the BIOS for the K7T Turbo2 is the same, but this board supports higher CPU's, it's a bit confusing that you see the above CPU's listed...
That makes no sense as the power consumtion of the xp 2000+ is lower (70 watts max according to amd tech docs) that the 1.4 gig tbird cpu(72 watts max according to amds techdocs) -
K9N4 SLI - Lack of 125W CPU Support
Hello,
Just wondering why does this board not support any 125W CPU's?
I was looking at getting one of these boards to throw in a 6000 X2 but according to the website, this board only supports the 89W version, which is unavailable where I am.
I've seen this CPU supported on a Gigabyte board using the nforce 4 SLI Chipset, which the nforce 500 SLI is based off or rebadged from.
Thank you.I'm sorry, i really don't care if the board goes up in smoke. As a matter of fact, this board is one of the worst decisions i have made. Don't get me wrong, I will always stick with MSI, but this particular model of a board seems to have constant issues with a lot of other people. particularly with it not posting right out of the box. i myself had this issue 2 or 3 times with the same model board and according to my findings here, and in many other forums, so do a lot of other people. so really, who cares if the damn thing goes up in smoke? it was only $80.00 and in the meantime I have a good setup going on. you won't hear me complaining about it frying, i'll just buy a different model.

FM2-A75IA-E53 CPU supported list is missing
I read the subject about how to know the CPU supported by the Motherboards but in the case of FM2-A75IA-E53 motherboard there is no SUPPORT -> CPU SUPPORT in the product page.
I think (hope) they are revamping them because they are definatly missing.
Contact msi for this information for now.

880GMA-E45 - Need to press start several times
Hi,
880GMA-E45 with a Phenom II X2 555.
I've unlock the Phenom using auto features of this motherboard (4cores). I've installed Win7 x64 without any problem.
Then, I've updated the bios to the latest v17.7.
Now, when I press start, the computer shuts down within few seconds. I do that 3 to 4 times then it starts normally and works correctly. If I set only two core (I keep the unlock feature on). Same problem
If I disable the unlock feature, it starts on the first try.
Probably related to the bios update but not 100% sure (with the original bios I've not made a lot of start up ... not sure that it was starting up correctly with unlock core on)
Any idea?
ThanksQuote from: Bas on 17-November-10, 17:35:09
That is Intel memory.
3 sticks on AMD is not a good idea.
Either use 2 or 4, but not 3.
Also because it is Intel memory, it can have wrong timings for AMD.
And please stop the OC stuff until the problem is solved, as OC on top is seeking problems.
(thanks for your response)
Already tried with two (and one) memory stick.
The Phenom is not overclocked and runs at its normal frequency. There's no OC set up in the bios (OC Genie Lite disabled, no manual settings)
To be short: since the new bios when I use the unlock feature (nothing else changed), I have to press start several times (OC Retry Count +1)
I don't think the problem is coming from a faulty core (even if I manually enable one, two or three cores with unlock ON .. same problem) -

This question was solved.
View Solution. You can upgrade to an SSD.
The simplest method is to use an SSD like the Corsair Force 3 and be sure that you purchase the migration kit.
The migration kit comes with cloning software and a usb to SATA/power cable that connects to the new SSD.
It is recommended that you purchase and SSD that is about 256 GB in capacity if you can find one that is affordable.
SSD with migration kit options in a search that I did.

GX700 bios 1.22 cpu support???
Does anyone have a full list of GX700 bios 1.22 CPU-support?

About CPU support found this:

GX700:
Support Intel® Penryn FSB800 CPU T8100/T8300/T9300/T9500
Support Intel® Merom FSB800 CPU T7100/7300/7500/7700
Thank you
I have tried several memory types and all of them have worked so far.
I think that I found that Avadirect too, and it suggests that T9500 will work with MSI bios.. I am just not sure whether I can trust that source. Maybe I will buy a cheap T9500 from ebay if I happen to find one.
Official information from Intel states that:
PM965 Chipset supports also X7800/X7900/X9000, but I guess that BIOS is the restricting factor in this case. -
Hi all I'm thinking to buy mobo B85M-G43 along with celeron g1820.
The problem is that in CPU support list there is no celerons but in spec page I see this
Supports 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 / Core™ i5 / Core™ i3 / Pentium® / Celeron® processors for LGA 1150 socket
It is intresting because all other mobos with b85 seems to have celeron suppot in official msi cpu list.
If there is some tech guy form msi in this forum could you check this?
And if this mobo doesn't support this cpu what all you could recommend with similar price and features?
