Okay, I can confirm that after resetting BIOS defaults, Speccy is fine in getting CPU temperature and Windows Indexing isn't having an error now at all. So it does seem like the OCing is causing the issue. Game-o-meter couldn't find any performance stuff even without OC.

890FXA-GD65 Small memory issue.

Hello, I am having some difficult getting my memory to run at rated speeds when I try tweaking my bios settings I cannot get to to read at 1600, they default to 1333 1.5v so i changed the voltage in the bios to 1.666 reason i used 1.666 instead of 1.65 is because MSI control reads 1.65 as a lower voltage and 1.666 as 1.653. My first question is should I go by bios voltage or trust msi control in windows.
After changing my voltage my speeds stayed at 1333 so i changes the ratio when changing the ratio i can only set it to 1333, 1500, or 1800. So this brings me to my second question, why cant I get my memory to run at 1600.
Third question, should i just run my memory at 1800 and try CL 8 instead of 1600 and going for CL 7. Currently I have my memory running at 1500 with CL7 since i cant get it to 1600.
I'm a bit new to this so if I am missing so info on how memory speeds adjust please let me know

Hi Scooter31,
Go into Bios and then enter Cell Menu. Before doing this if you are using any oc utility turn them off. After entering cell menu check CPU FSB, it should be at 200.(I suspect it is at 225). If you want to run cpu at 3.8 put fsb at 200 and set cpu multiplier at 19.
Next go to memory and enter fsb/ratio, should then see 1:2, 1:2.66, 1:3.33, 1:4. Enter the 1:4 and exit this category. Line below fsb/ratio should read 800 which being DDR is x2=1600!
Possibly move this topic to OCing and Modding.

I would agree and disagree on what you said. I'm tempted to think that the power supply might be involved however even at idle the computer freezes and I can't imaging the PSU can't hadle the load. I have 3 other computers runing perfectly with 450W and 500W power supply with much more load 24/7 with similar config (AMD X6, video card, nics and RAID controllers on top). I don't understand why changing the memory model helped to have the computer lasting longer though as they have the same voltage, timing....? Also, the computer draws 220W out of my UPS which is 176W with 80% efficiency.
This board had some former issues with USB ports that have been address since according to the forums, however I wonder if my Majic Jack is not doing something funky but I have tested the computer without and got the same crash... it really puzzle me. All my other boards are Biostar, Asus and Abit and I never had this issue before.
RMA the board could be a pain so I'll try with a OCZ 550W and see if it works better, worth the try using the new memory set.

UPDATE: After doing lots of moving and cleaning, like GPU and CPU (were very dusty btw) I had some issues that I encountered in the proccess but I fixed them.
After moving the cooler away, the CPU was in the same position as before but I still moved it and placed new thermal paste. The issue still exsisted, the other slots were not working (beside the old one I used) BUT now it does not give any beep codes but just simply gives no display and no beeps.

890FXA-GD65 and possible USB Controller related issue?

Hi all - Been having a bad time of it with a new system build for a little under a month now. Have tried to capture my "notes" below, any idea of a root cause? Is anyone aware of known issues with the board; the board and Windows 7; the board and some other component(s)?
My issue: During Windows 7 x64 installation or startup, the system will freeze at the "Starting Windows" screen.
My system specifications:
MOTHERBOARD: MSI 890FXA-GD65 (BIOS ver 18)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 @ stock speed (HDZ555WFGMBOX)
MEMORY: DDR3 1600 2X4GB G.Skill Ripjaws-X [DIMM1 & DIMM2] (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL)
VIDEO CARD: XFX Radeon HD 5670 512MB (HD-567X-YNF3)
HARD DRIVE(s): 2 x Western Digital 500GB 7200 drive (WD5000AAVS)
POWER SUPPLY: Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W
Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate edition, retail)
This problem has existed since I first built the system and is consistently reproducable.
I am able to avoid the issue by disabling the USB Controller in BIOS prior to initiating the Windows installer. This will allow me to proceed through Windows installation, but as soon as the USB Controller is enabled once again, the issue recurs. Having to disable USB support is undesirable.
I'm now on my second 890FXA-GD65 motherboard, having RMA'ed the first board after a fairly brief exchange with MSI tech support(2 replies, with the eventual suggestion of RMA for a faulty USB controller). So I went through the RMA process with the online retailer, receiving a new board today.
The problem is that the RMA replacement behaves in exactly the same manner. Normally this would suggest to me that the problem may lie with one or more of the other components, but I've not been able to identify issues with any of them. One obvious suggestion would be to try swapping out components, but my resources are constrained on that front - video card happens to be the only component for which I have a alternate that I can test with, actually.
As far as troubleshooting investigation, here's what I've done/observed:
1. Windows installation/startup will succeed if the USB Controller is disabled in BIOS.
2. The same behavior can be observed with a Windows Vista installation disk as well.
3. When loading Windows in safe mode, the last driver file loaded was disk.sys
4. Memtest86+ (v4.2), repeated full passes reveal no issues with the system memory.
5. While seeming that it would be an unlikely factor, I have swapped out video cards(to an eVGA 8800 GTS 320MB), but observed the same issue still exists.
6. Running in a single DIMM configuration affected no change.
7. Have disconnected one or the other of the hard drives with no change.
8. The BIOS version installed is equivalent to the latest(and only) version posted on the MSI support site.
So...any ideas on what's left to try? I've done enough reading online to notice that I'm not the only person to have observed this behavior, but have yet to encounter any explanation of it nor a resolution.
Any suggestions?

Trying to catch the points that weren't explicitly spoken to by me in the last attempt:
@Stu - Regarding testing with zero USB devices connected - this was done as part of troubleshooting and it has no observable effect, so I think that I can rule out a bad USB device being the culprit and I apologize for not making that clear previously.
@Frederik - I've done a little more legwork on the memory item. Troubleshooting, for the most part, has been executed with this memory set to run as DDR1333 @ 1.5V as that is what the board auto-defaults to(the kit is rated as DDR1600 @ 1.5V) It was at the defaulted setting that I ran memtest86+ and no errors were reported.
I've also just now made an attempt to run this memory as DDR1066 at 1.65V and still there is no change in results. In my research on this specific kit, I have not run into accounts like mine - in the accounts that I have read regarding a poor experience with the kit, memory has either been been obviously bad, for which failures are reported in diagnostics like memtest. ...or, I suppose that there's also the random guy complaining about his overclock not working or the memory speed defaulting to the wrong value in BIOS.
Frankly, I don't want to battle any particular component and I owe no allegiance to this make of memory. I do want to try to be objective, given that I'm stuck with these modules until I make the decision to RMA. As such, I had read what info is available out there - prior to purchase, I hadn't noted so many reports of issues with this kit across a considerable sample size of feedback so as to cause me initial concern, or else I would have gone with a different kit/different brand. Probably will do that anyways, next time, but in the meantime, I'm afraid of this being a distraction. If both myself and this other person(drgan) had both been using the same memory kit, and thus it was more likely to be the common thread, I'd certainly be more inclined to this line of reasoning. But since he's using Kingston and in the few other accounts of a system freezing on USB controller enabled status I've noted varied memory kit brands, it doesn't seem to me to be an obvious culprit. But if not, then what's left to consider? The other interesting factor to me is that the issue appears to be Windows-centric....but...

Msi 890fxa-gd65 USB and video dying after extended use

Multiple times this has happened to me. I will be playing a game for a while (2+ hours) and all the sudden my mouse, keyboard, and monitor will all black out and shut off. My computer is still running and the buttons on the front of the case to shut the computer off no longer work either.
I know it's not a heat issue because i touched the heat sinks on the mobo and they are not hot at all.
I have taken the board and exchanged it at frys; this is the 2nd board so i'm pretty sure its nothing wrong with the board.
Help me please!

Steve64, do yourself a favour and search for RAM SPD profiles on the net. Memory module manufacturers write the SPD information to the EEPROM on the module. Motherboard BIOSes read the SPD information to configure the memory controller. If that SPD profile is not in line with the native RAM speed supported by the CPU, then the board's BIOS will be set to the incorrect memory speed as can be seen in this post. Its an industry design standard (JEDEC) and the memory manufacturer is the cause of the incorrect setting when the user buys an incompatible set of memory.

AGEPA Update for 890FXA-GD65 (Socket AM3+ Steam incompatibility)

Just installed Valve's Steam onto my new desktop for the first time and get the blue screen of death upon loading Portal 2.
After a bit of Googling I've discovered that this is a known issue for Bulldozer chips with certain newer titles on Steam, there appear to be a few bios updates from major venders to tackle this issue as advised in this page on the AMD site - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/STEAMGamesonAMDFXplatforms.aspx
Unfortunately the link for the MSI board is for the newer socket 990FXA-GD80 and there doesn't appear to be an update for the 890FXA-GD65 (I'm currently running the most recent BIOS for this board). Just wondered if anybody else was aware of this / has seen a fix?
I have filed a query direct with MSI, but have yet to receive a response, don't really want to dump this board & upgrade as this is the only issue I've had with an otherwise superb product.

This is an issue with all AM3+ with Bulldozer chips installed, boards from all vendors, MSI released a fix for the 990FXA-GD80, but both 890's and the 990FXA-GD65 haven't had the fix released, I'm talking to myself because it is quite a niche problem, not that many people using FX chips that want to play the 4 or 5 games affected by this problem. There have been other forum posts relating to this issue regarding other boards.
However to prove a point, this problem has persisted over a Radeon 5870 and Radeon 6850 and about 5 complete formats and reinstalls on a Samsung 500gb F3 and a Crucial M4 SSD and 2 bios flashes to the latest bios.
It's a problem conceded by Steam and AMD, and isn't an "issue" I have concocted to scapegoat an issue I can't find.

Unfortunately within about 30 minutes to 2 hours of playtime the BSOD hits even using this workaround.

I've tried playing a friends boxed copy of Shogun 2 (one of the titles effected) and it installs and runs with no issues, further underlining that this is a problem with the DRM associated with Steam and how it interacts with the FX chips on this bios and not my Windows installation.
The problem also doesn't persist when I replace the FX chip with a Phenom 2 Socket AM3 chip using all the same hardward.
Trust me Bas, I wouldn't be posting here that this was the "issue" if it wasn't. I build an average of 2-4 machines a month (all with MSI mainboards, but mostly socket 1155), and am big enough and ugly enough to fix any issues I create. I chose to build my own desktop using socket AM3+, so I could have a play with the new Bulldozer architecture before recommending it to people. Unfortunately it looks like I'm gonna continue recommending Sandybridge for the time being at least.

Msi 890fxa-gd65 1 beep begins to post then shuts down...help?

Hey I just purchased a 890FXa-gd65 board this week and have a phenom 2 x4 970z in it with corsair 2x4GB 1333 ram thats made for phenom 2, i looked it up on corsairs website to make sure. Im using 2x XFX 5850 graphics and an OCZ Agility 3 sata 6/gbps SSD along with two WD Caviar blacks. This is a new build, although i tried using a phenom 2 x4 965 originally but had same problem. so, i boot up get a single beep the comp begins to post and then shuts down. vie tried dif ram and now have tried a dif cpu. vie tried using only 1 graphics card at a time and switching between 1 and the other. always gets the same response. i do not have the sad or hard drives plugged in either. originally i was using corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram but thought that was the issue because of the speed being to high so i got some 1333 just to make sure and it still is doing the same thing. i really don't know what to do at this point. in the 15yrs vie been building comps for myself and others vie never hit a brick wall like this. any suggestions? just to make sure i tried running just the board ram cpu and video card onto of the motherboard box it came in, as msi tech suggested....still nada

i have a corsair 850HX 850watt. Nevermind It turned out after getting a friend to plug some diagnostic hardware into it we found out it was a dud mobo. I RMAed it and after plugging everything into a new board things worked fine. sorry i wasted your time. i appreciate the help you give to people who need it, thanks again.

890fxa-gd65 1 long 2 short beeps

I have a 890fxa-gd65 and a xfx radeon 6870 HD in a new computer that I am trying to get running. I get 1 long and 2 short beeps at power on. From what i read from the forums it is a video problem. I know for certain the card is good. Anyone know what might be going on. I want to update the bios but obviously cannot with out video. Or can I? Anyone know of a way i can update the bios without video, and without having to buy another video card? just fyi, I know that the power supply is also good.
Any help is appreciated.
One other question. I am new to MSI boards and was wondering what to do about the 6-pin video power plugin on the board itself. The card already has two 6-pin connectors so im not sure if the board plug needs to be used or not. I have tried booting with and without it so i dont think its the main issue, but i would still like to know what to do with it.

what psu you use?
have you connected all power cables to the vga?
have you tried to reseat the vga into the PCIE slot?
do you use 1st PCI-E slot close to cpu socket?

MSI 890FXA-GD65 North Bridge Temperatures

Hi there I have recently purchased the MSI 890FXA-GD65 for a new build. The thing that suprises me is that the temps on the North Bridge are very random. It normaly stays in the 55 C- 65 C range, but it is constantly jumping up and down in a matter of seconds. For example it goes from 58C to 65C in a second and then could drop to 55C the next second and after that could jump to 70C and it just continues playing. I am wondering if anyone else has the same issue with the readings and what could be the cause of ti?

I am waiting for a memory at the moment. However the airflow in my case is more than adequate, GPU idles at 30C and does not exceed 50 under load with the fan at 25% of the max speed. The CPU is well cooled with no fans on the heatsink (Thermalright Black 120), idling at 25C and going to 45C under load and overclocked. The RAM modules are very cool on touch as well and my MB shows constant temperature of 28C - 30C. I think its something wrong with the diode, because there is no way that the temp would jump from 55 to 70 in a second and the next second to come back down to 60. I was just wondering if someone else has similar thing with their mobo. I have got 3 year warranty on it so I am not that worried about it, plus it is not crashing or anything, its just the readings.
P.S. I forgot to mention that this is not detected as NB on any program. Instead on AIDA64 shows up as AUX temperature, and on HW Monitor comes up as TMPIN1, but I read it corresponds to NB usually. Plus this is the warmest part on touch.

890FXA-GD65 PCI-E 1x port slow after Overclock.

Ok so at home my gaming rig which i just recently built around the 890FXa-GD65 is Wireless with the Dlink N PCI-e Card. I upgraded to this board from a NF750-G55,. Issues is that when ever I overclock in general the PCI-e ports go into a sluggish mode, reason why i know is because my wireless card relies on the pci-e port so internet is bogged down about 65% after overclock. Have ran speedtest.net with stock settings and Internet speed works fine, but then when i overclock and run the speedtest.net internet is tremendously slow. Could it be an option that gets disabled after overclocking that can be causing this to happen. On my MSI NF750-g55 this issue never happend! Help!

890FXA-GD65 with AMD Phenom II 1100T and Asus Radeon 6950 No Video Signal

I just did a new computer build with an MSI 890FXA-GD65 motherboard AMD Phenom II 1100T processor and Asus Radeon 6950 graphic card.
I have a SATA hard drive and optical drive. Memory is Corsair XMS3 4GB PC10666 DDR3 1333MHz 4096MB.
When I turn the system on I have no video signal so I can't see bios. I tried taking everything apart and rebuilding and still nothing.
The power is on to the motherboard and graphic card. The motherboard has 2 LED indicators on.
I am a newbie with the new computer build and need some help. I accidentally pressed the clear CMOS while the power was on. I have no idea if this is going to mess up the motherboard.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I could not locate this on this specific motherboard. The one issue is that there is a CLR CMOS button on the back and I pressed this when power was on .
I know there is another way to clear the cmos with the jumpers but I didnt do that .
Anyway motherboard still powers up. I took it to a tech to check it out. Don't know anything as of yet. Thanks.

Multiple Problems with MSI 890FXA-GD65

I am having problems getting a clean build of new components to work. The components are:
motherboard is MSI 890FXA-GD65
processor is AMD Phenom II X2 565 Callisto
memory is 2x 4Gb G.Skill Ripjaws X model F2-12800CL9D (CAS 9, Unbuffered DDR3 1600)
disk drive is a Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1 TB SATA III
card is an MSI N460GTX Cyclone 768D5/OC.
power supply is an Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W
operating system is Windows 7
All items are brand new, and being assembled for the first time, so nothing is overclocked.
I have three problems. First is that the video output is flaky. I initially thought that the board wasn't POSTing, because I was getting no audible 'beeps' and there was no display output (does this board not have a speaker or speaker header?). Through trial and error, I discovered that the board was POSTing, but I could not see anything because of a strange video problem:
If the monitor is connected when the video output changes, then the video will not work, and disconnecting/reconnecting will not fix it. For example. If the video cable is plugged in during a cold start, I will get no video output. If I wait a few seconds until the Bios loads, and then plug in the video, then I get a video signal. However, if I leave it plugged in as the video output switches when Windows starts up, then I lose video again. Only by plugging in and then unplugging during the same video output mode can I use the output.
I have tried 2 different video cards (same mdodel number) with the same result. I have tried switching my memory with only 1 stick and with both sticks installed. I don't have another processor to try.
The second problem is that Windows will not run with the USB controller turned on in BIOS. It starts 'loading files' and then just hangs.
The third problem is that the MSI utility program will not run properly. I tried to install the updated chipset drivers, but the installation hangs.
Thanks for any help!! I am on the verge of returning the board to NewEgg after many hours of trying to troubleshoot this build.

Just three small issue...

Hello All,
Well after a few months of delay (First me damaging the bois chip then me burning out the motherboard) I finally got my computer up and running. I do have some small issues that I hope someone may be able to help me with.
1.   When I shut down the computer it restarts itself. The only way I can shut it down is to hit the power button in the back of the case.
2.   When I do attempt to shut down the computer and it restart on it’s own I get no video. It also gives three long beeps. Now please understand that the video card works fine when the computer is on or when I do a manual restart. This only happens when I try to shut down the computer.
3.   When I try to use the RAID by plugging up two hard drives the computer well get stuck at the screen where it read the array configuration. The configuration can be correct with the RAID set for stripe two (WD 13GB and a WD 7GB hard drive) Western Digital hard drive’s.
Any type of help would be great. Here are the specs to my computer.

after finishing my rules and decisions, i dropped Business Rule inside BPEL and start to copy values in input parameters of Business Rule, but i face *"Exception - Problem Building Schema !" !!*
and sure my problem now in XSD file, please advise why and how to avoid ? ..

Resolved, it is a small issue as i expected, i forget to update in/out variables to map for elements in XSD file like below ..

<variable name="dsIn"
element="client:Client-BR-Input"/>
<variable name="dsOut"
element="client:Degree"/>
</variables>
