That ram is supposed to be a 9-9-9-24 timing. Most boards default to much lower. I had the same situation recently. Also, the auto oc tried to fry my memory by boosting the voltage on it to 1.7 when it ran fine overclocked at 1.5.

    Hello Everyone,
I put together a new Llano rig not too long ago with an AMD A8-3850 APU, 8GB GSKILL Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 memory, and the MSI A75A-G35 motherboard. With the stock BIOS, 1.0, I could use the OC Genie function to quickly overclock my components. I updated to the latest BIOS because it fixed a problem with the CPU fan failing after sleep mode. So now I have the newest 1.4 BIOS available and I try using the OC Genie function and it fails. The computer reboots and says that the previous overclock failed. I have tried tweaking the settings myself but it still gives me the same error. Sometimes it even gives me three beeps before POST indicating that the overclock failed. When I reset to defaults everything is fine. Keep in mind, I do not have a separate video card installed but do have two PCI cards, a sound card and wifi card to be exact. I've tried everything I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas of why it won't overclock anymore? Or am I just out of luck?
    CPU: AMD A8-3850 Llano
    RAM: GSKILL Ripjaws X 2x4GB DDR3 1600
    PSU: Cooler Master 500W PSU
    HDD: 1TB Hitachi Drive
    GPU: None installed
Expansion cards: sound card and wifi card
    ASUS DVD burner
    Thanks,
    jp

You call a low-profile board "useless" because it is not suited for overclocking?  When you want overclocking, why did you not buy a board that is not low-profile and actually more suited for overclocking?

Thanks for the help but unfortunately I couldn't revert the BIOS using the file you supplied.
I am getting the same error as with a manual update: Current ROM version is not compatible with something something.
I've used both the manual way and the MSIHQ USB Bootable Tool and BIOS Helper to no avail...

also in task manager the CPU speed is jumping between 4.34 ghz - 4.38 ghz. And i put the clock to 4.4 ghz in the bios.
A bit weird, you should have had 4.39-4.4.

There is no such settings, I don't think any MSI board has it.

PirateDog, thanks for the advice but that didn't change anything.
I believe I have found the problem with low Gflops in IBT. It appears to be the RAM, I have run a benchmark called Passmark Performance Test 8 and it is showing my memory is only performing at half of what it was in my P8P67 and I beleieve that this can account for the GFlops being cut in half as well. The memory I have is 16GB of Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B. I have made sure that it is being detected as dual channel through CPU-Z and even tried pulling a pair just to see how it would run with just two sticks and no change. I have ordered some new RAM, 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A771ZWI/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item. If anyone knows if there is a setting in the BIOS that would cause this kind of behavior please let me know or if there is some other way to test how the RAM is truly performing.

    Yes, well partly at least:
    - found my USB ports to work after I enabled all the options there were in bios (that's a start!)
    - found USB sticks to work normally after uninstalling the USB port drivers (ASMedia)
So far, so good at least.
Then I remembered my short "voyage" with a Z87 board. Simply entering numbers seems to work. I like the idea as it keeps total newbies away, but I hate it for not seeing any kind of range.
Especially now, as the platform is totally new to me, and even the default values show up in bright red when I enter them manually. No sort of documentation to be found in the manual, so I hope I'll stumble across something like a "MSI-specific" OC tutorial (most of them seem to concentrate on Asus and Asrock, as usual).
Thanks for trying to help though I couldn't find a button to delete the topic so I thought locking it would be a good alternative.
PS: I'm on Win 8.1 now, which updated my previous Win 8 installation, and it's running fine now. Using things like "show hidden devices" & uninstalling old drivers has helped me to keep my installations for quite some time normally. Often across various platforms even (used to be far more years ago as I don't upgrade as much anymore).

  • A75A-G35 C6 mode issue

    Hello all,
I have an MSI motherboard with following specs:
    Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2SB 500W ATX12V v2.2 Power Supply
MSI A75A-G35 FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
AMD A8-3850 (using integrated APU graphics)
    2 x 4GB DDR3 G.SKILL Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL @ 1600Mhz
1TB WD Blue Caviar SATA HDD
    80GB WD SATA HDD
    SATA DVD-ROM drive
I have a problem similar to one another person has with the A75A-P35. Windows (regardless of the version used) reboots at random times. I have tested the memory and it is good. So are the HDDs and DVD drive. Apparently, I've run into the same issue that when C6 mode is enabled, it will cause Windows to randomly reboot without any warning or Windows Event information. All video ceases and the screen goes blank.
I've tried re-flashing my BIOS thinking I had a bad flash, but it didn't work. I have since disabled C6 Mode. I haven't had any further stability tests. But it always seems to happen when the CPu seems to be trying to "sleep". Any suggestions?

    Overclocking issues with Neo2 Platinum

    hiya nocturnal
1st in Integrated Peripherals / IDE Function Setup....disable sata1/sata2 dma transfer and enable sata3/sata4 dma transfer...sata 3 is top on left side of board one closest to cpu.
2nd ... Cell Menu / DRAM configuration  is where you set memory timing 1T/2T
3rd...Cell Menu / AGP Frequency ..set it to 67
just My 2 cents but why don't you take Everything back to stock (cpu & vid card) , Do the above and see if it will boot. the biggest problem you have (my opinion) is your memory...you do not state if it is pc3200/400 ...if it is go 200 Max Memclock (step 2, 1st option)
set the CAS  settings to stock..see if you can boot to windows, then and only then go Play   as in see what your sandie will do with that memory..Leave your vid card stock until you get a stable windows enviorment...also if you do shift F2 ..alt F3 it opens up other settings within our bios
I believe you will be upgrading your memory real soon if ya got the o/c bug
    Hope this helps
ps...by the way what type of power supply do you have ?

  • [Solved] A75A-G35 gives no video signal over HDMI, resolution over DVI limited

    Hello community,
following problem: I have been using my A75A-G35 board with an A4-3400 Llano APU, the APU has been connected to a 19" BenQ FP91GP monitor via a DVI cable. I got its maximum resolution of 1280x1024 with no issues.
Now I have purchased a 24" Dell U2415 monitor with a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 and wanted to connect it to my computer. However, I got stuck:
    1. I get no signal whatsoever using the HDMI output and a HDMI>HDMI cable. I have tested a different computer and connected it to the Dell with the same cable successfully, so the cable and the monitor should be fine.
edit: Disregard the following as the problem with the DVI cable appears also with the other computer. The problem is therefore just the fact that the HDMI output of the board doesn't work!
    2. I get a signal with a DVI>DVI cable + DVI>HDMI adapter. I can access the BIOS, the boot manager and see the boot screen, however once the desktop should be displayed the screens turns black and the monitor keeps switching to standby and back on again, the screen staying black all the time, however. But before installing the driver package (for chipset and video, downloaded from the MSI website), I could see the desktop with a resolution of 800x600. Also, if I boot into safe mode, I can see the desktop and increase the resolution up to 1280x1024. Higher resolutions up to 1600x1200 are available, however selecting any of them results in severe screen flickering.
    3. If I boot my Linux install, I have almost the same behaviour. I see the boot messages but then the screen turns black when the desktop should appear. However, if I connect the old BenQ monitor to the VGA port, I get a signal on both screens, however both screens have the resolution 1280x1024 and I cannot increase the resolution of the Dell, because if I try to, the screen turns black again. Lower resolutions than 1280x1024 are possible, though. Note that the "second monitor trick" does only work with Linux, with Windows I get only a black screen on both monitors.
As a side note, the DVI cable I'm using is a DVI-D single link, so the maximum resolution it supports is actually exactly the resolution of the Dell, 1920x1200.
    Thanks for any hint,
    Photon

    your welcome!
when you said your problem and the symptoms I thought that board sounded familiar as alot of people when it first came out that we had to explain that to them so I had a look and yes it had the jumpers to switch ports for its digital display display signal to be routed to another port so i thought that was the cause!
have fun with your board now you have it in HDMI mode!

  • A75A-G35 Problems

Hi all, this is my first post so plz bare with me.
    I have an issue regarding a A75A-G35.
I have built a new machine today with various parts (psb) and for some reason the motherboard gives out 3 beeps with the same amount of pause between each beep when powered up. The machine powers up with no problems and nothing is burning/overly hot. I currently only have 1 brand new stick of ram in DIMM2 but the machine even fails to POST (monitor remains dead on start up) which means i can't flash bios with the new 1.4V. Please help.

  • How to increase cpu voltage on A75A-G35?

Please tell me how to increase cpu voltage on A75A-G35(I changed pstates in BIOS but voltage not changed!)? and then tell me range of voltage in 1-7 Pstates?

Q: I cannot adjust the CPU Voltage on my A55/A75 motherboard?
A: Due to a hardware limitation on this platform, you cannot adjust the CPU voltage. However, you can adjust the NB voltage which is the same on this platform.
The NB voltage setting is below the "Advanced DRAM Configuration" and the only way to increase a cpu relating voltage on that board.

  • A75A-G35 will not boot

    Hi
Have the motherboard A75A-G35 (MS-7695 ver1.0 printed on it)
It was working without problems for a few month. Suddenly it stopped to boot. Hangs with BIOS check code (right-bottom corner of screen) - 99 (Super IO Initialisation?).
Tried to clear CMOS - no results.
Tried to boot with only one memory module installed - no results.
When plug-in PCI card:  ST-Lab A142, Ultra ATA /133 (Silicon Image Sil0680) (for my PATA devices, not connecting them) - it hangs with status B2 (Legacy ROM Initialisation?)
When plug-in PCI card: 3 Port FW100 Firewire IEEE1394 Agere FW323-03 (alone, w/o other PCI-cards plugged(usually they are plugged both)) - it stops with 99 code too.
I don't know which status is earlier 99 or B2, but I thinks it doesn't matter in my case, because halts w/o any cards too.
PC speaker beeps once(short) as usual, keyboard indicators blink once(after beep) as usual to.
Even tyied to boot w/o keyboard.
Tried other Power Supply Unit - no result.
What I can do to resurrect it?

  • A75A-G35 Problem installing Radeon 5850 and 5870 Video Cards

    Hello,
I have a A75A-G35 motherboard with an AMD A4 processor.
When I install the first Radeon card (radeon 5850) the driver finds the card (no problem).
When I install the second card (Radeon 5870) the driver cannot install and the system reports an error.
I have checked to be sure the cards are properly seated, can anyone suggest a solution?
    Thank you!!

Why do you want to mix a 5870 and a 5850? Crossfire will work badly on this mainboard as it can only provide X4 for the second slot and an A4 processor is also far too slow to take any advantage of a CF setup anyway.
