MOVED: A75MA G55 default memory frequency

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=152729.0

yes that's true. memory doesnt support jedec at higher level than 666 Mhz. just XPM is 1k MHz
It is not such a big problem to owerlock the memory to get it work on that frequency, but more, what i dont understand is, why i cannot get change the NB frequency to this 993Mhz.
I tried to overlock it also, i have movedl bus speed to higher level, but also max cannot give me this number and of course computer is than very unstable ( problems to start etc. )
I would like to have this overlocked frequency supported also by mobo and CPU and it looks like i'm not able to get it in any way :D or better :(
maybe im missing some point here.

1866 is a multiplication of something. Do not set it to 1866!!
I do not know your motherboard, but your processor would probably like something that add up to 1333 MHz.

I checked the changelogs for the standard BIOS release series of the A75MA-G55.  There are two references to "Lab Burst Mode".
The first appears in the changelog for the E7696AMS.138 [v1.3b8] release:
    - Change setup item "Enhanced Spread Spectrum" to "Lab Burst Mode".
The second reference appears in the changelog for the E7696AMS.139 [v1.3b9] release:
    - Fixed Lab Burst Mode always enable when OC more than 133Mhz successful then load default.
    That tells us three things:
    1) The option should be available be available in the E7696AMS.130 final release under the name "Lab Burst Mode" and as "Enhanced Spread Spectrum" in all final releases before that.
    2) The "old name" for that option suggests that it has to do with "clock modulation" (because that is what Spread Spectrum generally does).
    3) Spread Spectrum probably may need to be enabled first in order to get access to the "Lab Burst Mode"/"Enhanced Spread Spectrum" option.

And boot order is set to boot from SSD?
Yes, but it forces it to boot to EFI Shell. When I press F10 on startup there is no other option to boot from than EFI Shell. I had this mobo working for about month and half with Windows 8 without any problems. Now after I flashed it to v 2.0 (Which is not reverse downgradeable to older 1.xx version) whole system started to act strange, display resolution can not be set properly, sound card stopped working. I wonder if its really final or only unstable beta version of this bios file.

Don't use Live Update. For flashing, use the forum's USB Flashing Tool found here, along with instructions how to use it; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.0
Like I said earlier, I can't download the 1.3, it says my bios is the latest. And if MSI could be sweet and put a download link instead of pointing to Live Update.

  • A75MA-G55: Lab Burst Mode temp sensor bug

Me and a friend were on a quest to find the best BLK frequency on stock voltage and finally arrived on 153MHz to be the max possible on stock voltage.
We went some benchmarking on 7-zip, GTA4 and wPrime without problems, only we can't measure the cpu core temperature because of that no software can't give us an honest result.
Then our heads came up with an idea, howbout 2hours Prime95 then quick reboot and check temps from Bios.
2 hours later quick reboot, enter bios and there we almost passed out... CPU temperature: 128 degrees Celsius but case temp on 27degrees C.
We left the system off for 3 hours then checked again from a cold boot, 128 degrees C again! then we changed to default settings and there we go 25 degrees C, we switched back to LabBurstMode and temperature showed us again 128 degrees C.
Maybe this was a planned Helloween trick from the MSI team But this have to be looked at.
    System:
    2x A8-3850 chips
    2x 1866MHz Kingston 4GB
    2x 1600MHz OCZ Gold 2GB
    MSI A75MA-G55
    Asrock A75Pro4-M
    500GB WD Black
    2x 500GB WD Green

    That tells us three things:
    1) The option should be available be available in the E7696AMS.130 final release under the name "Lab Burst Mode" and as "Enhanced Spread Spectrum" in all final releases before that.
    2) The "old name" for that option suggests that it has to do with "clock modulation" (because that is what Spread Spectrum generally does).
    3) Spread Spectrum probably may need to be enabled first in order to get access to the "Lab Burst Mode"/"Enhanced Spread Spectrum" option.

  • Memory frequency in overclocking?

I hope someone is willing to help me out as I am a complete beginner and very much out of my depth... having said that...
I'm looking to set up a very modest stable overclock... with next to no idea of what i'm doing.
    I have an E4400 ms-7255 with 2 x 1gb RAM which runs at 333Mhz according to cpuz.
I haven't been able to find anything about 333Mhz RAM (if that IS indeed what i have - since i read it usually runs below its specs)
How does RAM frequency affect overclocking? Is it still possible/worthwhile or does the bandwidth limit it too much?
What settings would you recommend me attempting as a very safe attempt without having to flick the switch to reset my motherboard - and could you give me a bit of a run down/how to keeping in mind i'm less than leet.
    Thanks so much
    Samuel

    Hello oscariouss,
the first basic thing you should try to get sorted before you get into overclocking is the difference between "real clock speeds" and "effective clock speeds" and also the inter-dependencies of different clocks and clock rates on an Intel System.
CPU-Z for example, shows you the "real" clock speed of your memory.  Now, as we are talking about DDR memory modules, the effective clock speed is always twice the real clock speed.  That is why "333 MHz" actually translates to DDR2-667 Mhz effectively. [DDR stands for "Double Data Rate" and this means that with each clock cycle, two transactions will take place (that is how you get the factor x2)]
    Quote
I haven't been able to find anything about 333Mhz RAM (if that IS indeed what i have - since i read it usually runs below its specs)
You probably have DDR2-667 memory modules.  To be absolutely sure about that, open your computer case and have a look at the memory modules themselves.  The brand and model name is usually mentioned on some sort of sticker.
CPU-Z should also display information about the brand and model name of your memory modules.  Have a look at the "SPD" Tab and see what it says in the top half.  You can also make screenshot and post them here for comparison.
To overclock the system, the most basic operation is to simply raise the FSB Clock Speed in BIOS.  For your current processor, the default FSB clock speed should be 200 MHz.  CPU Frequency is always the product of FSB Clock Speed x Multiplier and that is why raising the FSB Frequency will automatically result in a higher CPU Frequency.
Keep in mind, that memory frequency is also tied to FSB Frequency.  The relation between FSB Clock and memory clock is regulated via FSB/Memory Ratios that can be set in BIOS.  If your FSB Clock speed is 200 MHz and memory clock speed (real) is 333 MHz, that means that FSB/Memory Ratio is set to 1:1.66 in BIOS (probably via an AUTO setting).
Now, if you raise FSB Clock Speed, memory clock speed will rise as well.  If you would increase FSB Frequency to 210 MHz in BIOS and the FSB/Memory Ratio remains @1:1.66, memory clock speed will be forced to:
    210 MHz x 1.66 = 348,6 MHz [or DDR2-697 MHz effectively]
Please also remember, that your board is a budget model whose VIA Chipset is not really a high-end/high-performance piece of hardware.  Overclocking is not exactly what the designers had in mind here.  That means that the overclocking potential will most likely be limited and the BIOS will probably lack specific OC relevant options that will help to  reach higher clock speeds.  That, of course, does not mean that you should not at least try to check what is possible, but you should not be disappointed when you find out that you are unable to stabilize the system above certain frequencies.
I don't know which options you have to influence memory clock speed (or more precisely FSB/Memory Ratio) in BIOS.  Just have a look what options you have there and tell us here.

  • How to: make SDcard DEFAULT memory

I just got my BB about a month ago... I've been recieving pictures & music from friends but I cannot save the music b/c my BB wont let me change the default memory from the device to the sd card? I figured out how to do it for the pictures but not for the music... PLZ PLZ PLZ leave feedback.
    CandieM

    Well Candie,
First off sorry to hear about your issue...
The BB default save configuration once you insert a media card and insert batt will be to save to media card by default.  If you are having issues with saving, try the following:
-Remv battery and reinsert once more.....
-Verify your s/w version (your service providers website will have the latest approved release) Do this by going to Options ->About 3rd line down will indicate your s/w version
    - Verify upon bootup that the phone displays 'Media Card Inserted'
    - You may want to consider formatting your media card AFTER moving your pix/flix/music to a CPU (BB desktop mgr using media manager icon)
Let me know some more detail once you check these items..... What model BB? What s/w vers.?
    Thanks!
If I successfully help you with an issue, thank you for clicking "kudos" in my post.

  • A75MA-G55 AMD A8-3850 overheating?

    Hi,
I have a ZT systems PC computer (CPU AMD A8 3850), which has a motherboard A75MA-G55. Months ago, it more and more shutdown itself suddenly. I changed a larger power supply (450 W). It had no problem for 2 months. Now, it shutdown again recently. I feel the heat sink is hot when the problem happens.
What step I can do to remove the problem? Any diagnostics procedures? Or, change to an effective heat sink?
    Thanks in advance

Quote from: miklkit on 28-August-13, 21:34:33
Has the heat sink ever been cleaned?  It could be full of dirt causing it to overheat.
The heatsink does not have dirt. I have changed a 460 W to replace the original 360 W power supply. It was better for a couple of months. I find that when there are more windows open, it will shutdown suddenly. Recently, when I run a computation for 1 hour, it will shutdown suddenly. I can feel the heatsink it very hot. I find that it has much lower temperature when I lower CPU frequency to 2.6 GHz and DRAM frequency to 1033 MHz (I only try to set these as a newbie). The new problem after these BIOS changes is that it cannot sleep under Windows 7 OS. I need sleep function. How can I get right settings to lower CPU while with sleep function?
Does anybody know the BIOS setting tutorial ?
    Thanks,

  • Problems new build A75MA-G55

    Hi all,
I put together a new system last weekend, which ran for about 2 days, and then it basically stoppedworking properly. The hardware components are:
MSI A75MA-G55 with an AMD A8-3850
    2 x G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8 GB, PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, 9, Non-ECC
    SSD Kingston HyperX 120 GB, S-ATA III / 600
    Seasonic X-400 Fanless 400 Watt
The whole thing is in a Fractal Design Define Mini box, and the OS is Ubuntu 11.10 x64 version. When it was running, it suddenly froze; after I restarted it, it did not boot and crashes with segfaults and kernel panics (both "normal" Ubuntu and the safe-mode). Once in a while it actually boots (both normal and safe mode) but is not stable and freezes after a few minutes. I have tried the following things, with no result:
    - ran memcheck for 24 hours; no errors
    - used a different harddisk w/ Ubuntu; no boot
    - used new Win7 install and Ubuntu Live USB sticks; no boot
    - updated bios to v1.3; this went without errors but still no boot (and re-tried the above again as well)
What I will try in addition is to use a different PSU to ensure that is not the problem.
What I would like to know is, if there is a way to test/validate the motherboard and/or APU without an OS (and another board) and if anyone has any idea what the cause of this can be. Any help/input/ideas is much appreciated!
    Thansk in advance,
    Joost

SafeMode is not a bad test for possible memory problems, but it doesn't seem to run all that well there either?
Ubuntu is not my department. I was considering a mal-functioning memory, too. What other kind did you try with?
You can also try without the hard disk altogether, and see if things keep running well for an hour or so. Try having BIOS hardware monitor visible during that time, to see if temp. keeps climbing. That is usually evidence processor isn't very fond of your memory.
Use a single stick. Set memory speed down. Make sure memory gets the volts it wants, try 1,65 volts for example.

  • A75MA-G55 oc genie 2

I got A75MA-G55 mainboard last month and i can't get oc genie 2 to work since then. When i enable this option in Control Center and reboot, the system won't start and PC just keeps restarting. I tried loading the default options (i really didn't change anything in BIOS) in BIOS and activating OC genie 2, but it's the same as for enabling it in Control Center. This results in me clearing CMOS. I don't know why, but I can't get Overclocking Center and AMD Overdrive to work, either. I updated BIOS to the latest version v1.3. Do i need to install drivers or am i doing something wrong? I installed all drivers from Liveupdate 5 but it says I haven't got the latest versions of display driver, network and audio drivers even when i installed them.
Thanks for your help in advance.
