    Hi,
    HP notebook computers have an emergency BIOS recovery feature that allows you to recover and install the last known good version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional.
    Try restoring BIOS using instructons in this HP web document. You have to strictly follow it to elicit a positive response. The timings are of utmost importance and you've keep on trying many times.
    If that didn't work, try recovering the notebook BIOS using an external storage device (USB key) as mentioned in the doucment ...
    The latest HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ is sp69886.exe .  Run the installer and create a USB key as per instructions from another PC.
    (This package contains the WinFlash utility and a system BIOS image for the supported notebook model running a supported operating system. The WinFlash utility is used to locally flash the system BIOS (ROM) on notebooks operating in a Microsoft Windows environment.)
    Previous version of HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ sp66941.exe ,  is also available. You can try with this if latest one don't work out.
    Note: Keep the laptop plugged in with AC adapter to Power supply during the whole process.
    If the above methos doesn't work, please Contact HP in your region or local computer service center for further help in this regard.

  • Iphone 4 Stuck in Recovery, Please help

    Hey guys, I keep trying to restore my iphone 4 but it never completes, it just keeps flashing up:
    the iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).
    And i cannot get out of recovery mode now!
    Please help i don't know how i can get out of it, I have made a genius bar appointment but the first available time is Sunday
    I have tried all sorts of things, putting it into dfu mode, general recovery mode, uninstalled itunes, reinstalled itunes, tried it on my mac and pc.
    Everything i can think of but it just wont start
    Thanks
    Craig

    Ok lets try this on your Mac:
    Find and delete any and all .ipsw files on your Mac, there should only be one, but delete ALL that you find. It should be located here:
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    Once that's done, reboot your Mac & launch itunes then, see if you can force the phone into recovery mode, reset first as I described earlier:
    Turn your phone off(if you can), if not try to reset: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, select "new".

  • Bad BIOS Flashing - Please Help !

    Hello,
    I'm having a serious trouble because the BIOS UPDATE failed since I had a power outage while I was updating the BIOS.
    Since that, I couldn't get any video output, it's only 8 beeps with the orange light, and then the blue light and nothing happens. Is there a way to prepare an USB KEY with the BIOS updates, initiating the CPU with the Windows+B keys pressed on?
    I've tried to apply the BIOS UPDATE SP63535 who had the BIOS version ANP_704.bin
    Please HELP ME, thanks a LOT !!!

  • Bios Downgrade please help

    Hi
    First of all sorry for my english...ok...I have a problem on my probook 6550b with which I have been dealing for two days now...i format my disk install a fresh copy of Win 7 ultimate 64 bit...I download al the drivers and update my bios...comp starts to working slowly,like laggy...i updated win with all the updates, use nod 32, scan everything, use speedupmypc etc...everything loks ok, but computer is still very slow...so i format again...do the same thing again...no results...So I assume that the problem is in the new version of BIOS...and here are my problems start...i tried do flash with older version but it wound let me(failure) I tried with windows key + b + power button holding 3 sec...i get black screen, fan starts to spining at ful, but nothing happend(i wait for 3min,3 times), and then i cannot power down comp unless i take my battery out..so my question is, is it posible to flash backwards on my laptop, or am i risking to brick my comp?????
    PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hm, @Manjunath, does what you suggest actually downgrade the BIOS or simply reset bios settings to the factory default settings? I understood that a BIOS downgrade is not possible in all instances, though this would be clearly stated in the BIOS release notes if a downgrade is not possible after the update.... So if there is no such downgrade warning/statement in any BIOS release notes between the current BIOS and the desired older BIOS, it should be possibly by simply running the HPQFlash.exe with the older BIOS and accepting the prompts/warning that the new BIOS is older than the current BIOS (i.e. a downgrade). If there was a warning/statement in the release notes of a any BIOS between the current BIOS and desired older BIOS, then it wont be possible without specialist tools, software and/or effort (if at all)!

  • Notebook Hp dv5-1118es, How to recover BIOS ? PLEASE HELP

    here is the link of a youtube video i uploaded just for you to see how my notebook is NOT booting at all.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3ZAaKKuJ58
    My best guess is that i need a BIOS recovery... but i can not boot from usb or even a disc.
    I red about making my own USB with HP UEFI BIOS update and then try to use the windows+B start from here:
    (bottom page)
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/How-to-use-the-HP-BIOS-update-uefi-utility/...
    my problem is that i dont know where to find those bin files (even if i do, i dont know wich ones would be for my model)... moreover (as you see in the video) i doubt this is goin to make any difference since it is not taking the USB boot command from boot order.
    should i throw this one to the trash and buy another one ?

    Hey MatiV,
    I'm sorry you're running into this no boot issue! Thanks for making that video though. It really helps to know and see exactly what you've tried and how it's behaving.
    You could try Windows key + B by itself. You don't need the UEFI flash drive necessarily and actually, your notebook is not UEFI capable.
    1. Shutdown
    2. Power on and immediately press and hold the Windows key + B for about 5 seconds.
    3. Release those keys and wait about 5 minutes for an image to come onto the screen. You should be presented with the question, "Are you sure you want to roll back the BIOS". Select Yes.
    4. Allow it to finish loading. This could take an hour (probably less though).
    Sometimes this takes a couple of tries. If you can at least get the, "Are you sure you want to roll back the BIOS" part, it should be successful. If it isn't, try pressing F11 System Recovery from the ESC Startup Menu at power on. Try a System Restore if it will allow you to, or if you want to just go straight back to factory conditions, perform a recovery. Recoveries using the HP partition take about 30-45 minutes.
    Let me know the results when you get a chance

    Please help me, I also asked another person who bought exactly the same model but he also told me that he has only 4 recovery discs.
    Thanks!!!

    this looks like file read error from the disc. if you do not have the media you need to get one from hp.com linke here.

    Such combination is not recommended in AMD systems as you must use 2x2GB and 2x1GB memory stick to obtain it.
    Which is not good idea[mixing memory sticks]
    For best results and optimal performance, use 2x matched memory sticks only.

    Go to reseller to sort for you.
    Let him try with different memory sticks{AMD Tested}.
    The message may gone by itself, often such fake message can come from bad or not compatible memory stick.

    Make sure to change the extension to .ROM.
    Nope, system is expecting original file name A7577AMS.200 as Bas mention as well.
    Quote from: Hans on 08-October-09, 01:26:19
    Ah, I see. Thought it needed a .ROM, but I'm obviously wrong.
    But if we already knew this, what's this whole topic about then?
    Get the file on a stick and make it recover. Can't be that hard... ???

    I would suggest to try with AMD regular memory stick 1st before attempt any BIOS recovery.
    Else he really can kill his board, while attempt to recover healthy BIOS{Too possible to be memory error and not BIOS failure
    [bad|not compatible memory stick can produce the same fake message.]
    Also BIOS hardly can corrupt to this stage by itself, he tell never touched the BIOS:

  • JS CS5.5-Moving Selected Objects-Please Help!!

    Hello,
    I have a scritpt that will apply a certain object style to the selected items in the document. I am trying to add a "move" to this scirpt. I would like every item selected in the document to move down .125 inches. I know this is much simpler than I think it is, I've always had trouble with bounds in scripts. If anyone could please help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks for your time,
    Danny

    I suppose if I was going to be picky, I should have provided my code initially, rather than waiting for csm_phil and then posting something else. Anyhow, I think it is better to use:
    var
        i,
      savedUnits = app.scriptPreferences.measurementUnit;
    try {
      app.scriptPreferences.measurementUnit =
          MeasurementUnits.INCHES;
      for (i = 0; i < app.selection.length; i++){
          app.selection[i].move(undefined, [0, +.125]);
    } finally {
      app.scriptPreference.measurementUnit = savedUnits;
    This changes the scriptPreferences, not the viewPreferences, which means that even if you screw up and don't set it back, it does not affect the user. It also means it is one variable to change and not two. We take care to save the units and set them back, so other scripts and users are not affected.  We even use a try/finally block so that if an error condition is thrown by the move, we reset the measurement unit afterwards anyhow.
    Lastly, unlike csm_phil, I don't cancel the selection at the end. I didn't see Danny asking for that and I don't think it's what you would want.

  • Pavillion DV6 2020sa bios corrupt, wont take recovery. please help.

    hi, thanks to anyone that has any input on this problem its much appriciated,
    I am looking at my brothers laptop, pavillion DV6 2020sa he had a virus lock the screen, he held the power button to switch it off, upon reboot he gets the blank screen and flashing leds (2 flashes) upon lookin up it says bios corrupt, i have downloaded the bios from HP tis 3635.bin and have put in on a USB drive, the sticker under the battery also says 3635, so im confident i have the right one.
    I then hold the win + B button and then power, it starts, and shortly after the USB stick light up and flashes, then stops, then flashes again, at that point i get 6 beeps, then silence, then i get 5 slow beeps, i have read this is meant to happen, but then its meant to resart, and this is the bit that dont happen, it dont do anything, when i restart it, it just does the same flashing lights.
    am i doing something wrong, or something im missing.
    Thanks again for any help.
    Jamie.

    You will need an eeprom programmer to reprogram a new BIOS chip with a fresh BIOS file. It takes a special hot air tool to successsfully remove and replace a notebook BIOS chip. This is not just normal soldering. This is what real electronics technicians and workers at an electronics R&D lab and workers on the assembly line at manufacturer do. Unless you just happen to be an electronics enthusiast or engineer, and I am guessing you are not since you asked these questions, this may be out of your league. If you feel adventurous and have  your brother's permission to use his notebook as a guinea pig...go for it! It is not as easy as the guy in the video made it look. He is a trained technician and  does it for a living.
