And the board has no effect at all? I'm not new to this although its nice to get an answer that does me absolutely no good and does not even answer my question. I am aware the memory controller is in the CPU but to say the board has no effect is absurd.

Anyone able to actually get their MSI GD65 to run an 8gb kit at 1600mhz or higher? I keep reading more and more people are having problems with this.

Msi gd65 gaming restart problems

Hi recently built a new pc.
Msi GD65 gaming (bios updated to 1AO)
i7 4790k
8GB corsair vengance
msi Gtx 970
win 7 64 home edition
Ok build went smooth had retailer update bios a while back to 1AO as i knew id go for the 4790k, everything is running great until i need a restart and the system goes through the normal shutting down then just hangs there.Reset switch won't work i have to actualy power off the system then reboot,But if i shutdown the system instead of restart everything is ok and boots normaly.Now i can get by just using the shutdown method but obviously something is not right.
I have double and triple checked cables and front panel connectors as i am using the little connector that comes with the mb for the front panel cables.
Any thoughts tx in advance

Thanks for the quick response! But I didn't think I explained myself very well :s
I originally had everything on the MB internal HDD, and only had 1 HDD which was / is still, my TM HDD.
I then moved all the photos, music etc to the 2nd HDD, to free up memory on the MB HDD.
I dropped the 2nd HDD and it's beyond recovery.
What my thought is - given that originally all the data would have been backed up on the TM HDD, can I recover it from there? (If it hasn't been over written of course)
I'm unsure if the 2nd HDD was included in TM backups. It was usually connected to the MB when TM was running...

MSI-GD65 Status code question

Hey everyone, I just got my MSI-GD65 board hooked up for an external power up to make sure all my components are working before I fire it all into my case, and I noticed a status code on the POST LED's that says "bb" I'm assuming they are "B" and not "6". I just don't see anything listed for a "bb" POST code. Can anyone tell me what this is?
Just some quick potentially useful info: I do not have a hard drive connected, and I am only using the integrated graphics on the Intel i7-4770k processor. I am only booting into the BIOS. I have 2 sticks of DDR-1600 RAM that is detected fine and doesn't seem to show any issues.
Just as a side question, my CPU idle temp is ~50C. This seems high, but I am using the stock HS right now. Anyone know if this is high enough that I should be concerned about something?

I just have a hard time believing that the code is sixes. Every other 7 segment display I've seen displays the sixes with the top segment also lit up. I was just trying to clarify if there was some sort of known use of the displays showing this sort of arrangement. Also if it was displaying temp. I think it would increase or decrease at least 1 degree over the hour that it sat idle. It never moved from the "bb" code that was posted.
The BIOS temp does vary from 50-51C and I can see this change in real time, so I am much more inclined to believe this is the actual temperature, or at least a more realistic representation of it, even if it is not 100% accurate.
Thank you both for the replies though. I think I will safely assume that it is the standard "bb" code that is displayed while in the UEFI BIOS, and see what happens when I get everything hooked up into the case later today.
Unless there is anything else anyone else would like to add? All help and input is appreciated!

Can't even run memtest

Here is my set up, Athlon64 3000+, MSI K8T neo fis2r, zalman h/s (don't think it really matters) FIC 9800+, WD 40Gb 2MB 7200rpm (os), 10Gb seagate, OCZ EL3200 512Mb x 2 = 1gb(2-3-2-6). When I power up all of the fan spin, I get an error in the promise raid screen, no bios loaded, then it continues to the VIA raid screen. there it promts me to set up a raid array by press the tab button. Then it starts to run MEMtest 86, it shows "loading..............." then for a split second I can see the memtest screen and then it reboots. When I try to boot to windows it does the same thing, it asks do I want to start in safe mode. then it reboots upon me pressing the enter key. I've done just everything I can think of, raised the voltage to the ram, changed the timings, tried with one stick of ram, then two. My psu is a 400w allied(3.3v-28a, 5v-40a, 12v-17a). Ive unpluged all of the fans except the CPU fan, no workie. One other weird note, the bios doesn't show a contant RPM for the CPU fan, it jumps from 2678 to 0. Any help would be appricated.

I really can't help too much except to say that we have similar systems and I have the same problem with memtest, can't even run it.
However, I can get in to WinXP but only with the speed set to 333mhz for the RAM. No matter what I set the timings to 400mhz = no boot. Even at 333mhz, regardless of the timings the machine is crazy unstable. Freezes, BSOD's, and spontaneous reboots happen whenever it feels like it.
At this point, I'm about to throw in the towel and order new RAM. Fortunately, I can upgrade my XP 2500 with this RAM and not feel quite so cheated.
1.20 didn't help in the slightest.

Its quite possible you need to install drivers for your PCMCIA card reader device. Look on your notebook manufacturer's driver page for the correct driver.

MSI Ti4200 Run DLL as an app. error

Hi all,
Sorry if this has been answered before.
I have an MSI Ti4200 VTD-8X (128mb) with VIVO running on a 2.4Ghz, 512 mb, Asus P4S8X motherboard, PC running Windows XP.
The problem is that when I try to access the MSI Settings tab in the control panel I get a " Run.DLL as an application error" message. The error message was more detailed before I upgraded to service pack 2 and said something about 'system 32' but now all I get is the above message. I can access all other options under the control panel but not this one.
Tried all latest and different drivers as well as un-installing re-installing Windows to no avail. Problem has been present since I bought the PC (about a year and a half ago).
Any help would be appreciated.

The problem was there even when the computer was brand new and the only drivers that had been installed were from the MSI disc. Have since tried all combinations of uninstalling/re-installing MSI drivers and XP itself to no avail. Uninstalling the old one as opposed to installing the new one over the top as well. Currently using the latest Forceware driver (5.6 or 6.something?) and find that to be pretty good (fixed another problem I had with capturing video) but still didn't fix this problem.
Forgive me, as I know very little about this sort of thing, but could it be a conflict with the card and motherboard (even though Asus list the card as compatible) ? Or a bios thing ?
Tried in vain to get help from MSI with no luck. Frustrating as I'd like to tickle the old girl up a bit. I hear you can get them running the same specs as Ti4400's.

MSI 5870 Crossfire Option not available on MSI GD65 - PLEASE HELP

Hi All,
I just installed two MSI 5870 on MSI GD65, install the latest driver from ATI, however, I can't find the crossfire option under the CCC Graphics drop down list....
All setting is set to standard, no overclock for the CPU.
I have tried several ati driver up to current and beta ones....but still no luck.
According to Graphics Hardware under CCC, the 2nd graphics adapter is disabled......
However, under the control panel the 2nd graphics card is installed and enabled.
Please help.

Can I install an 8Gb Ram Module on a 2010 Imac?

Acording to apple support iMac (Mid 2010): Memory specifications - Apple Support, "You can use RAM module sizes of 2 GB or 4 GB in each slot", but clearly is more cost efficient to be able to install an 8Gb and a 4Gb, as the iMac already comes with two 2Gb modules, the iMac only takes 4 cards and it has a max RAM memory capacity of 16Gb.
Can I install a 8Gb?

We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required

We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required to install. The apps have already been installed. The users cannot run them unless they are in the local admin group.Using "Run as admin" does not work. It gives the same error.
I have opened a case with adobe support and was basically told to suck it up and put the users in the admin group. Actually, what was said was that it is "mandated that the users have administrative rights".
There are a couple of things wrong with this. It was working for both users until recently - a recent required creative cloud update. The users have never been local admins yet the apps were working (poorly, but working).
We are in an enterprise environment and users simply do not have administrative rights on the computers.
I have changed permissions on all adobe folders, granting users or authenticated users modify or full control rights, did the same in whatever Adobe registry HKLM keys I could find. Nothing has allowed the users to run the apps - unless they are put in the local admin group.
Someone has to have a fix for this. Adobe apps have proved to have far too many vunerabilities to even entertain the idea of elevating user rights. I can't imagine that enterprise environments are allowing this.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. The users in question are "standard" domain users. We do not reduce users permissions below the standard level.
The apps do not load with their current standard user permissions.
The thing that makes this odd, is that up until recently they did this issue with cloud apps. The only way I can make it work for them now is to put them in the local administrator group on their pc's - which is not going to happen.
This is what they now see. As I said before, this was not a problem up until recently they would see all their available apps. If I put them in the local admin group the apps are listed without having to install. Everything is there, just not accessible to the user.

Some of your reports can be done using RSAT with Active Directory Powershell module. Some of them including
Computer Accounts Changed needs auditing to be enabled for directory object changes. These are not predefined reports which you can simply run my friend. Can you please be more specific?
