BTW HU16E HW monitor reports my system to be unfairly hotter compared to yours. Is that picture the I7 990x system you have?
Quote
Also on HW Mon Core #9 reports about 10 degrees hotter than the rest...Is this normal or signs of a bad cpu?
Quote
The problem is still there! CPU-Z shows CR at 1T. It should be 3... I verified the BIOS is set to 3.... Is this a BIOS problem?
Quote
Should I revert back to an older BIOS?
Yup! 990X OC'd. My ambient is 19-20C at most, case air flow is optimized, CPU cooler is super good, I use either MX-2 or AS5 TIM, & it helps I have a well above average CPU that runs cool & at low voltage. All these combine into pure sweetness.
Not really a sign of a bad CPU. The contact by the cooler may be a tiny bit off or a bit light on TIM in that area.
Can you post a snip of the CPU-Z Memory & SPD Tab? Photobucket is a good hosting service.
Yes. I recommend to flash BIOS v1.4. I use the forum USB flash method as just about the safest way I know of. Prior to flashing, make sure all OC's & all is returned to stock/auto/default. After the flash, be sure to power off, remove the PSU power cord, the battery for awhile, clear CMOS & then set it up to optimized defaults & fine tune the rest of your settings. I'm interested in hearing what that RAM defaults to.

    I agree with Osnavi!
You wont note difference in performance if you don't play fairly modern games, and hardly then. Ít is allowance for the g. card to keep very big size pictures in normal memory, you could say. As new g. cards got so much memory onboard, I don't think you need worry whether to have 64 or 128 MB aperture, even if playing modern games.
I have had some bad experiences of Fast write and Radeon cards, though I can't absolutely point to that as a reason. Could be what model of graphics card you got.

    >> How could a mobo BIOS fix your display problem?
I thought so as well at first.
The solution seems kinda like the one in this thread: http://forums.viaarena.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=74011&enterthread=y
My problem is well explained there as well.
I've been building pc's for many years, and it's the first for me as well, where I might have to flash the MB BIOS to be able to run 1440x900. Probably because it's an onboard display adapter. Not usually a fan of those, but since the computer with the problem is for Windows use only (and no gaming), I saw no use in spending money on a display adapter other than the one bundled with the MB.
From the thread I pasted above:
"The VIA Unichrome onboard video does support this resolution, but the mainboard maker has to put this resolution into the mainboard's VGA BIOS in order for you to have this resolution available.
VGA BIOS is built into the mainboard's BIOS if you have onboard video of any kind. In order to update the VGA BIOS you must update the mainboard's BIOS. You cannot do them seperately. BIOS updates must come from the maker of the mainboard."
"For example - here is the latest BIOS for ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard, which uses P4M800 UniChrome:
    BIOS Version 0709
    1. Initial Release for P5VDC-MX Version 2.0
    2. Add Support for 1440x900 WXGA
    3. Add support for RAID5 "
Seems like this is the solution, at least for the ASUS and ECS mainboard. Both of the endusers asked ASUS And ECS and they made BIOS's available that was compatible with 1440x900 resolution.
    >> Have you installed the drivers for you monitor yet?
Yep, and it didn't work :(

As soon as I update with version 1.2, it is not possible anymore to overclock with EXACTLY keeping the same parameters (see my previous subjects).
Did you clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU after flashing the BIOS?  If not, please do that and test again.  OC settings can vary between BIOS Versions, that is not that unusual.

Is it possible to return to version 1.1 after flashing to version 1.2 ?

Winki is actually used via an USB Device that is directly connected to the board's USB Pin headers:
It cannot be loaded from a CD.

X58A-GD45 has a Winki folder on the CD that comes with it, and has no device as shown in the image.  It is not enabled on my board, but a coworker bought the same board and his *is* enabled.  Don't know.

She's working. I had a similar problem on a previous build where the MB didn't want to see all the RAM installed at once.
Put 1 stick of ram in slot 1....BIOS POST!!!
Go to Bios and save config.
Then  1 more stick in slot 5. Boot save config.
Add another stick in slot 3, boot save config.
    Next slot 7.
    Then add slots 2 & 6 boot & save
Finally add slots 4 & 8 boot and save.
Bios post with all 32 gigs ram. For some reason didn't want to see all the ram at once. Recognized my Transcend M.2 512. Able to install OS, system drivers and vid driver. So far so good.

I don't think there should be such an option for SATA devices (?).
But you might want to try USB Safely Remove which claims to make it available anyway.
They just released version 4.0 last week (and gave away free 1-year licenses to celebrate that).

I did't do that. I don't want to boot from the RAID. I want to boot from a single S-ATA Drive attached to ICH8. I just want to have the RAID available in Windows as second drive.
EDIT: I just tried that and moved the Bootable addon-card to the first position. But the Controller-BIOS still doesn't show.
    Regards, Pioneer.
I read about this problem earlier. Some PCIe SATA raid controller did just boot on this mobo. I know that much that in the "hdd boot priority" he didint get any hdds to see from this controller and put option "bootable addon card" to first one. No boot.
He changed to pci contoller -> ok. Maybe pcie problem, maybe not.
I have been my self having problems with SCSI hardware. I got 3 cards, all designed to work with 32bit pci (2 actually 64bit, but support 32 too).
    1) Adaptec 2100s, bad write performance unusable
    2) Mylex Acceleraid 1100 even worse read peformance, unboottable from bios.
    3) Atto U3LS works 100%, bad card :S
When I connect some scsi devices to these cards, mylex wont show any hdd in my bios.
Both adaptec and Atto shows in HDD boot priority like:
    Att168 06 : IBM IC35.....
    Ada162 02 : Maxtor Atlas 4k10_73wls
So I would guess that if you dont see any HDD's there from your card, you just cant boot from it.
Also if you get another raid contoller, i would suggest u to check somewhere someone claiming it works on this board.
For performance issues, refer to my thread, see last 2 posts some benchmark pictures.
