Moved from MBP to iMac and aperture library has some odd issues.

Hello
I have just got myself a nice new iMac today and I have copied my aperture 3 library over from the Macbook Pro and I thought all was well but I now seem to have some problems.
Some of the images would load and then just disapear but if I zoom in they are there? If I export the version I just get a black image.
In the other project as I go through and the image loads but then gets obscure makes across it or its half blue.
Then when I was going through the library it was jumping back to a image I looked at before.
If anyone could help with this it would be fantastic because the reason I got the iMac was for aperture 3.
Thanx in advance!!
Spoony

You may find the iMac is still processing. This could take a while to complete. Is it showing the little grey wheel. If so just leave it to get on with it. Trying to do other things at the same time is too much for it to cope with. The r.a.m. will probably be working overtime with less capacity than it really needs to do the job efficiently. You don't say how large or small the library is. Or the iMac spec, but i would be surprised if it's anything other than this. You could phone the Apple Support team to confirm. It's free with the new machine. Allan

  • Moved from PC to iMac and cannot sync shuffle

I just bought an iMac, after PC died...now when I tried to sync with iTunes on my Mac it shows a message that my shuffle is already synced with another computer. I am sure this is not the first posting on this topic, however, I can't find the answer...any help would be appreciated!!

The iPod shuffle is only designed for use with one library and lacks the full manual setting that the larger iPods have to safely connect to a different one. I presume that your new library does not have the same songs in it that you have on the shuffle and you don't want to lose them. In that case if you are careful you can copy the songs from it and once they are back in your library you can sync the shuffle and link it to the new iTunes.
Retrieving songs from a shuffle is a bit different from retrieving songs from a regular iPod. When you connect to your computer you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, your reaction of course is to press "Cancel". As soon as you connect a shuffle and choose "Cancel" when you get the "linked to different library" message the iPod will disconnect. For a shuffle follow this process:
1). On your Mac desktop go to Edit>New folder and add a folder to receive the songs from your shuffle.
2). Download Senuti from this link: Senuti
3). When it's downloaded and installed open Senuti (it will say "Insert an iPod to get started" or no iPod connected, something along those lines, ignore that for now)
4). On your Finder bar go to Senuti>Preferences>Copying>Save location and change the default location to the new folder you created on the desktop. Close Senuti preferences but keep the program running.
5). Connect your shuffle to your Mac. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc. ignore the message (don't press either choice).
6). Go to Senuti (it should have picked up the presence of your iPod and show all the songs on it). Highlight all your songs in the program window and press Transfer (the icon is in the top left corner).
7). When all the songs have transferred close Senuti and choose "Cancel" in the iTunes warning. The shuffle will disconnect.
8). Close iTunes and unplug your iPod
9). Check the desktop folder and make sure all your songs are there.
    10) Open iTunes and go to File>Add to Library, navigate to the folder on your desktop and click Open to add the songs.
11). Connect your iPod. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc. Choose "Erase and Sync", iTunes will reload your shuffle with the songs you recovered and link the iPod to this new library.

  • I moved from Canada to Australia and don't want to blow my iMac up

So I moved from Canada to Australia and dont want to blow the thing up when I turn it on. I'm wondering if I need to get a whole new power cord (different voltages etc) or i can just use an adapter? I'm not really keen on using an adapter though..
    It's a 2011 iMac 27"
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
    Katie

2011 iMacs are suitable for power of 100V to 140V, 50hz to 60hz power. So you won't fry the system. You can either use a wall adapter for your plug or buy a new Australia-specific power cord from a local Apple dealer (find one at http://www.apple.com/au/retail) or an Apple Authorized Service Provider at http://www.apple.com/au/service/.  Or try Apple Australia Online at 133 622

  • HT204414 How to import both iPhoto and Aperture library to iCloud Photo Library (Photos app)

    Hi all,
Based on the article here (Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support) has anyone tried to bring both an iPhoto and Aperture library into iCloud Photo Library so that both libraries are available as one in iCloud and form the one Photos app library rather than being seen as separate libraries. I don't want the two separated as I have 200GB's of space in iCloud which is plenty to hold the two's collective space of about 40GB's.
It seems as though the procedure is pretty simple.
First of all set one of your libraries as the System Photo Library, this will happen naturally with setting up Photos app for the first time. I chose iPhoto as the original library.
Let this library upload all it's photo's to iCloud over a few minutes, hours, days etc.
When finished, enter your other library by closing Photos app and reopening while holding down the Option key (usually Alt). In this case I now opened the Aperture library that it had found.
Under Preferences > iCloud set this library as the System Photo Library and in turn it will have the ability to upload to iCloud.
When it's finished I suppose you will have both iPhoto AND Aperture pictures in the one iCloud Photo Library.
At least I hope the above makes sense.
Anybody already tried this with good / bad results, let us know here.

found it here  - 'If you designate a new library as the System Photo Library and then turn on iCloud Photo Library, the photos and videos in the new library will merge with those already in your iCloud Photo Library. If you want to keep the contents of your photo libraries separate, don’t turn on iCloud Photo Library for more than one library in Photos.'
That bit seems clear. You can merge photos from different libraries by making them 'designated' first  .
BUT  this means that Photos app only shows you library A , or library B, depending on which one you have opened , but Icloud library contains photos from Both library A and library B .
    is this correct ?
and if so, does it not get a but confusing ?!?

  • Wait, I'm a little confused. On my day old iMac running Mavericks, do I install iDVD from my iLife 11 disk, or somehow copy the app from my existing iMac and install it on my new one?

Wait, I'm a little confused. On my day old iMac running Mavericks, do I install iDVD from my iLife 11 disk, or somehow copy the app from my existing iMac and install it on my new one?

The following may be a bit easier set up the new Mac with the same iDVD capability on your old Mac:
1 - copy your current iDVD application from the old Mac to the Applications folder of the new Mac. The latest version available is 7.1.2.  If you don't have that versoin go to the Apple Downloads site and download the iDVD 7.1.2 updater and run it on your current iDVD application.
2 - copy the iDVD folder that resides in the old Mac's HD/Library/Application Support folder to the same folder on your new Mac.

  • Ok so i broke my old computer and my iphone has some of my library on it so now how do i get my stuff from my library thata not on my iphone to my new computer?PLeas help!!!!

i broke my old computer and it had my music library and stuff on it and my iphone has some of the music on it but not all of it and i know how to transfer my purchasses from my phone but how do i get all the old stuff from my computer onto my new itunes library????

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here;
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - After you get everything on the computer, make a backup of he iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
If in the USA and other places where iCloud is released, you can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

HP 6500  need to delete from my Macs - iMac and Macbook Air, I gave up on this one that I exchanged 3 times! So how do I get the item out of my systems?

Hi @Noni1948 , and welcome to the HP Forums.

  • After restarting my computer firefox is deleted for Windows, when i try to open firefox a message pops up saying the program has been moved from its original location and is unable to run How do I get Firefox on my computer permanently?

After restarting my computer firefox is deleted for Windows, when i try to open firefox a message pops up saying the program has been moved from its original location and is unable to run How do I get Firefox on my computer permanently?

I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

  • HT1515 I have moved from windows to mac and had to reset my airport. I am trying it to join the existing wireless network. the process ends in an unexpected error. The ethernet connection seems to work OK

I have moved from windows to mac and had to reset my airport express. After the reset I enter the name of the existing network, name the base unit, enter its password twicw and select additional options as join the existing network. It comes back with a screen asking for the name of the base unit and password. Aftre which it starts cycling between "waiting for airport express", "connecting to 'network name'" and ends with an error message. When I try to set up using ethernet cable evrything works but I need wireless (it worked OK just hours ago). Any advice?
    Thank you

    Hello, vgafromva.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the AirPort can resolve this issue.  However, here is an article I would recommend going through when experiencing issues connecting to Wi-Fi.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply back with the exact error message received.

I have purchased a magazine through Zinio from the app store and my account has been charged, however, there is no magazine in my library and the new edition has been published

Oh gosh, I saw the same issue. Because i was messing around with something earlier. I don't know why Apple took off the option of "none" as a payment since not everyone puts in a credit card and people use iTunes gift cards. I think they just made that changed recently. Anyways, Ive just found out about this new issue also, so i don't know what you could do... maybe call apple support?

  • New internet provider (moved from Comcast to Uverse) and I can't get my new network to stay put, and I can't get my Time Capsule to stop blinking yellow

I have moved from Comcast to Uverse, and can't get my TIme Capsule to stop blinking yellow.  I know it isn't updating.  Additionally, I can't get my computer to recognize the 'new' wireless network.  It keeps changing back to the 'old' network.

You have two separate issues here. although both were created with the recent changes on your network.
Find out why the Time Capsule is blinking amber as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the the Time Capsule icon
Click directly on the amber dot....and another window will open to explain more about the issue...along with suggested actions that you can take to remedy the issue.
If you want your Mac to connect first to the "new" network....
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
    Open Network
Click on WiFi on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
Make sure that the name of the network that you want the Mac to connect to first appears at the top of the connection order list. Drag the name to the top if it is not there now.
    Click OK
    Click Apply
Now your Mac will attemp to connect first to the network that you positioned at the top of the connection order list.

  • I have moved from uk to Ireland and changed my mobile provider, but I can't send texts to uk numbers.  My service provider say it is an I phone problem, not a service provider problem.

I have moved from uk to Ireland and had to change my service provider, but despite 3 calls to my service provider I can't send texts to the uk. They have checked it out by my using a different SIM card, but I still cannot send texts. They say it is problem with my iPhone 4's settings and told me to contact apple. Can anyone help me?

If you can find out what country your iPhone was officially sold in, you could take it there (or if originally sold in the EU, take it to any EU country where Apple officially sells the iPhone) or you could send the iPhone to someone you know in that country who could get it serviced and then ship it back to you. Apple Support does not accept shipments from other countries, and will not ship a serviced iPhone to another country.
This, though, presumes that the iPhone has not been modified as your service provider claimed. If it has, Apple will not provide service for it in any country.
You may be able to find out what country your iPhone was officially sold in by calling Apple Support:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
and giving them the serial number.
    Regards.

  • I am using iPhoto 11 and my library has 736.5mb on disk. I have problems with iPhoto stalling and needing to force quit. I have rebuilt my library. Can you suggest anything else?

I am using iPhoto 11 and my library has 736.5mb on disk. I have problems with iPhoto stalling and needing to force quit. I have rebuilt my library. Can you suggest anything else? Thanks, Rose

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that does'nt help log into another user account on your Mac and try iPhoto from there.

  • I get an message that the Aperture library has insufficient memory

I'm trying to import new photos into Aperture and it tells me there is insufficient memory in the library. I have loads of storage space - do I have to create a new library?

    You are welcome.
Thanks for the help. So I find the Aperture library by searching with Finder?
If you did not move it from the default location your Aperture library is a package named "Aperture Library.aplibray" and is laocated in the "Pictures" folder in your Home folder.
If it is not there, search with Spotlight: Type ".aplibrary" into the search field and select "Show all in Finder" to reveal them.
