Not sure what's going on. My video card seems to be shutting down or something while playing games. My games will start to get sluggish so I try to open the graphics card menu by right clicking on desktop and clicking NVIDIA control panel. It keeps giving me this error saying NVIDIA Display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU. Help please.
    Edit: GTX 675mx

  • MSI GT70 0ND - Upgrading Video card

Hello! I currently own an MSI GT70 0ND with a gtx 675m gpu in it. Im looking into upgrading it to the 770m which I was told should fit fine. Thats mainly my question here, does anyone know for sure if the 770m will fit properly with the heat sync? The cards are identical aside from the Chip themselves on the board. I'd like to assume all would be well considering the 770m's chip is slightly smaller in width.
Thank you for any information :D

Laptopvideo2go. it's the Place to get video drivers when others fail; all new hardware gets added to the infs instantly when revealed.
    NVIDIA_DEV.11E0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M" is supported in the latest inf;
    download http://uk.download.nvidia.com/Windows/335.23/335.23-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe
and unzip it into a drawer.
    download modified inf http://laptopvideo2go.com/infs/335series/33523_win8x64/nv_dispi.inf
copy the modified inf into the Display.Driver drawer and then run setup - hope it works. If not, try another driver with a modified inf.
It worked as far as installing, but after rebooting the laptop goes to a blue screen. Looking at the screenshot, does this have MSI bios? Will I have to flash it to MSI?

  • Why does "Baskerville Regular" keep getting turned off?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, Baskerville Regular -- the font used by the Dictionary (V2.2.1/156) -- keeps getting turned off.  Result: when I open the Dictionary, all definitions etc. appear in bold.
All is fine if I open FontBook and turn Baskerville Regular back on again -- until I restart.  Then I have to do it over again.
The problem is on a per-user basis.  If I turn the font in on my account, stay logged in, and log in from another account, the font is turned off in that account.
Something’s turning it off.  Anyone know what?
    Thanks

It is probably related to your other post about being dropped off from the internet.

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi

I guess but that was what I was on earlier but it wasn't of much help.
I need to chat with an apple person but don't know how if I don't have a phone accessible.
Is there a way to connect thru a laptop or something?

it"s not drop into the water and not shoking or else????

If you have restored the phone as new and it still shuts off by itself, then take in the Apple store and have the people at the genius bar take a look at it.

  • Since updating to Mavericks, my graphics card keeps crashing OSX and forcing a reboot. Anything I can do?

    Hello community!
This is the first major problem I've had with my Macbook since I got it over a year ago. This is a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina Display (Mid-2012 - 2.2 GHz).
Everything was fine until I upgraded to Mavericks, and ever since then, my entire system cuts out and has to reboot when trying to do graphically-intense applications. So far, I've had this problem with the following programs:
Safari/Chrome (when playing embedded videos that are not from YouTube)
    Adobe Photoshop CC
    iPhoto (the brand new one)
    Sid Meier's Railroads!
    Civilization V
    Demolition Company
    Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Preview + Pixelmator (at the same time)
All of these programs are the most recent stable versions.
That this whole problem is being caused by my graphics card is merely an assumption that is based on the list of programs that make it crash. All of the rest of the applications that I use (Mail, Calendar, Tweetbot, iTunes, etc etc etc) run completely flawlessly.
Here's what usually happens - I start a game, for instance. I go through the menus and everything just fine. Once I start an acutal scenario, it loads and finally puts me into the game. It runs and I can interact with the entire UI for about 10-15 seconds, at which point, everything - the screen, the audio, the fans - instantly turn off. It's as quick as someone unplugging a desktop computer.
The computer is unresponsive to me trying to turn it back on for about 30-60 seconds (depending on the app that made it crash). Eventually, the power button "works" and everything comes back. The computer reboots normally, and presents me with an error message.
This has happened dozens of times over the last few weeks, and I can repeat the problem very easily (just open up something on the list!). Below is a crash report that I just got after the one that involved Pixelmator + Preview.
If there's anything that anyone sees that I can do to fix this, I would be extremely appreciative. Thank you so much, everyone!

I went ahead and went into safe mode and uninstalled Parallels Desktop 9 as well as Parallels Access, which I figure were the programs associated with the "culprit" you listed. I uninstalled by dragging them from Applications folder to the Trashbin, which is the only way I know how to uninstall a program as well as the way that Parallels recommends themselves. I shut down the laptop and started it again normally. I didn't bother reinstalling Paralells Desktop yet because I really don't use it that often.
Anyway, I tried a game just to see if it had removed the problem, and it did it again, unfortunately.
I then tried to run the Hardware Test, but it brought up something about an internet test instead of a hardware test. For what it's worth, that ran for about 30 seconds before giving me an error code.
Did I do something wrong, or is there anything else I can try?
EDIT: I tried the Hardware test again, and I ran into the same problem. This time, at least, I got some more details. It's trying to go into "Internet Recovery Mode," and I run into error code -1006D.
EDIT 2: Also, here's the Crash report from the one just now:

  • Is there a fix for MAC Pro with Dual video cards that randomly logs off and on?

From my readings on the Internet this seems to be a know problem.  That even furthers my frustrations with the latest OS X upgrades.  So far on both my MACBOOK PRO and my MAC PRO it has been a major downgrade as both systems are no longer stable.  Enough with my complaints...
Is there any plan to address this problem with the MAC PRO?  I can't believe 10.8.1 didn't fix it.  More can be read on it at:
    http://jvm-technology.blogspot.com/2012/08/mac-pro-users-experiencing-random-log .html
Does anyone have work around to use dual screen monitors with the system?  I have two video cards, the article says to remove one.  Has this worked for anyone?  Can I use dual screens with the one video card.  Before I go messing around with these type of things I just want to be sure that this is a real fix.  For the price of the cards and the system I really can't believe apple has this issue in the first place and has not fixed it.

Self-hosted add-ons have to be fixed for every new version of Firefox. Two to 6 months for updating an add-on is ridiculous for a program which has a new version release every '''6 weeks'''. If that extension was hosted at the official Add-ons website, Mozilla would take take care of "bumping" that extension, as long as it keeps working, for every new version of Firefox, as the new version is released.
See this thread from yesterday, I posted instructions about how to "bump" that extension for Firefox 7.<br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/884484
You can also use this extension to "bump" an already installed extension for compatibility with the currently installed version of Firefox. <br />

  • Video card making computer shut off?

    hi all.
i posted this issue originally in the "display" forum but now it has expanded to a more general problem.
as of about a week ago, while using my Dual 1.25 MDD400, all of the sudden, my screen would look like this:
    http://www.burhans-burhans.com/mac.jpg
at first, i thought it was a software related issue, as the program i was using (pro tools) can get crazy. however, i then realized that i could still playback the music i was recording even with that screen (using the keyboard commands i was able to "stop" and then "playback") then, it started happening while using any program.
i tried switching monitors. that didnt help. i tried unseating the video card and reseating it, it didnt help.
i ran the Hardware Test cd and it says everything is fine.
now it just happened again and after about 15 seconds of that screen, my computer turned off by iteself.
has anybody seen anything like this or had this problem before? i have no idea which direction to take...
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The ATI 9000 has a heatsink, no fan. No problem.
It is my understanding that all the fans in a MDD like yours should be operating when it is warmed up. The lower fan not working creates a lack of air circulation and could allow the Video card (without it's own fan) to overheat and slowly burn up.
My guess is that you need a new (newer) video card and a new fan. This is how to replace the fan:

  • Crashing & Turning Off Device Completely

Hi, I just upgraded to iOS 8 on my iPod 5, and things have been going very crazy. My apps are crashing. My iPod is freezing when I'm watching YouTube videos. And now, my iPod shut down and won't turn back on. I was on Safari when it suddenly turned off, and I haven't been able to turn it on for the past two hours. It is charging right now, but there is no sign in life. My iPod is just over a year old, so I don't know what is wrong with it. What do you think is wrong with it? I don't know if it's my iPod, or if it's iOS 8.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem or there is a bug in iOS 8 and then you will have to wait for an iOS update
