    any ideas

Hello I updated the bios, was not neccesarry but problems remains.
    cleared the cmos several times.
I have to inform you that i'm building 4 similar systems all suffering from the same problem.
During boot there is a black boot screen not splash screen. and on the top left a cursor and in the bottom right b2 b4 and 92 messages.
When I install and old ati x1050pro all is ok during boot I see the splash screen and i'm able to enter the bios.
    boot time approx 20 sec.
when running the system with the msi n680gtx boot times are back to 2 min and a long period with only the black boot screen and the bios codes.
As suggested I tested the card in a other system.  Motherboard is asus. And voila I get a splash screen.
STRANGE THING IS THAT THIS SCREEN IS NOT RESISED BUT IS I GUESS 800 X 600 AND CENTERED IN THE SCREEN.
Also after several reboots I could not get a screen filled splash screen.
Can this be a video card bios issue ?

  • How to disable trackpad on Boot Camp?

How do I disable my trackpad on bootcamp? My trackpad (clicker?) is pressed in, so sometimes it goes crazy and hightlights stuff or clicks stuff randomly.. I just want to disable it. I know you can do it on the osx, but I have no idea how to do it on boot camp.. it would definitely help out if I can disable it.. because it just makes typing and doing things on windows very difficult. Thanks!

You could always just change your fstab file to denote that you don't want that particular mount to be checked...although that wouldn't fit in with your "after a certain number of times" idea.
If you don't mind my asking, why are you looking to do this?  Since fsck checks the integrity of the filesystem it's trying to mount, and it usually doesn't take too long, why would you want to check it sometimes, and not others...I think it's extremely beneficial for unexpected filesystem problems caused by things like power-outtages, etc.  Especially if you don't reboot too often, I guess I don't see the advantage...

  • How to disable fsck on boot?

I was wondering how to disable fsck from running after the drive has been mounted a certain number of times.
I really don't want it doing the check.

  • [SOLVED] Disabling Bluetooth on boot with systemd

I'm having a nasty-won't-go-away problem with the disabling of the bluetooth module in my Thinkpad X200s.
Resorting to the old Arch way of disabling bluetooth on boot, I added this to my rc.local:
    /bin/echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/bluetooth_enable
The thing is, this somehow made my boots hit'n'miss: kernel panics every two boots. As soon as I commented that line from my rc.local... no more kernel panics at boot.
I was still using an rc.conf just with daemons, and in troubleshooting the kernel panics got rid of it and used the systemd way of enabling/disabling services. My problem here is that the bluetooth service seems to be impossible to disable.
I first tried the good ol'
    systemctl disable bluetooth.service
Which supposedly disabled bluetooth... but didn't. Even
    systemctl stop bluetooth.service
    Does not work.
Digging around the interwebs, I found that there are "stronger" ways to disable services with systemd, meaning "masking" services - basically links them to /dev/null
So, I tried masking the bugger...
    systemctl mask bluetooth.service
Reboot and... the damn bluetooth is still enabled. Only way that works is to echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/bluetooth_enable... but I can't do it at boot with rc.local, otherwise I'll get the kernel panics again.
    Any ideas?

It disables the bluetooth service which is very different from what your write to sysfs accomplishes. Don't you really just want to blacklist the bluetooth module? Your post is a bit hard to follow...

How can I disable AGP Fast Write with the MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R ? I can't find an option for this in the BIOS !

You wont usually find this option in most MB BIOSES , as the only Option that SOME BIOSES Have is the Option to enable, disable SBA (Side Band Addressing) for the AGP Bus....In order for you to Disable or Enable the FW, You Must have the Option in your Vidio Drivers Controll Panel.....If you have a NVIDIA Card, you Must go to  http://www.guru3d.com  And Download the program "NVHardpage" and then Open the Program and you wil have the Choice to Enable these options and they will then appear in your Vidio driver CP >> "Activate "Coolbitts" (this is NVIDIAS Overclocking Utility) Activate "Harware Options", and then Activate "AGP Options" and finally Activate "Performance Options"........If you have a ATI Card then you must Download one of thier "Tweeking Utilities".......I will Post the Direct "Link" for NVHardpage in a Minute, just say yes to the Lic. Agree. and download......Here>> http://download.guru3d.com/nvhardpage/  ...........Sean REILLY875

    |+5vsb = 2.0Amp
Before i start let me just say that i dont really know much about these motherboards as they are rather new and there are lots of buttons and switches all over it.
This computer is custom built by myself, i would NOT consider my self to be a noob at building computers, seing as i have built many for many different people, but the latest motherboard i bought (the X79a-GD45) is a socket 2011 which are very tight and hardly any tolerance.
The computer has been working without a hitch for around 4-5 months, it was amazingly fast and responsive, but this morning i was sat playing Battlefield 3 on Kharg Island when the screen just went black (No Signal) and the PC completely shut off leaving a nasty smell behind, so i immediately jumped up to unplug the PSU from the mains (240v), i then noticed that the back of the PC Case (where the PSU sits) was EXTREMELY hot, so hot that i thought it had literately caught fire.
After totally diss-assembling, cleaning and re-assembling the PSU i tried to power up the PC thinking the PSU might have burnt out (Remember it was VERY hot) but nothing happened, and if the PSU is connected to the motherboard then the MSI power button is lit then when i press the main power button (Front of Case) some of the motherboard lights flash on for just a brief second, no CPU fan movement, HDD Sound/Movement , GPU fan movement, but the MSI motherboard onboard power button is still lit.
Also one more thing, i took the CPU out of its socket to check the pins and i noticed a horrifying sight in the pins connected to the motherboard, on the right side of the socket towards the top of the pin layout, there are 2 pins that look like they have either melted  or been bent backwards i cannot really see as the pins are that small, i have provided a picture to take a look at.
I could really do with some help/suggestions on troubleshooting this problem, as i am about at my wits end also im only 20 and i saved up alot of money for the parts for this computer (Around a £1000)........

And as for the pins, the New range of MSI's are supposed to have pins that looke bent and melted , i just checked on the front of a Scan.co.uk magazine and the GD79 also has those.
Not true, if that magazine had pictures of socket with pins like that then it was a defective socket they photographed.
     GD79?

  • Cryptsetup - how to disable automounting during boot

    Hi,
I have encrypted partition on usb key, works fine, but when computer boots it complaint that it cannot mount the USB stick (not there usually).
How can I disable this attempt?
    My setup:
    /etc/fstab:
    /dev/mapper/usb-private      /mnt/usb-private  ext2    user,noauto       0       0
    /etc/crypttab:
    /dev/mapper/usb-private /dev/disk/by-uuid/ae5.........49b /root/keyfile luks
Notice, I have noauto in fstab, but there must be other rule that attempts to mount the drive.
Problem is not critical, PC goes on with boot without waiting, but I would like to fix it anyway.
    Regards

In your /etc/crypttab, I don't believe you need to prepend the target name with the full path.
    So instead of this:
    /dev/mapper/usb-private /dev/disk/by-uuid/ae5.........49b /root/keyfile luks
    Use this:
    usb-private /dev/disk/by-uuid/ae5.........49b /root/keyfile luks
Notice there is no /dev/mapper/ in the target name anymore. Not entirely sure this will solve your problem, but it can't hurt to try. I was going to mention the "noauto" option, yet you're already using it.

  • How to disable everything to do with itunes store

    Hi
Whenever I open itunes a window pops up "iTines setup assistant" trying to connect to the itunes store. I don't want this. As a matter of fact I don't want anything to do with the itunes store until I choose to do so. Therefore how do I disable this pop up and anything else related to the store?
    Thank you

Did you try going into the preferences and turning of iTunes store stuff? Not sure what has changed in version 7, but in version 6, under general prefs, there is a box to show or not show the little arrow links next to your tracks that send you to the store. And then under parental prefs, there is a button to disable to apple store.

  • How to Disable Genius in iTunes (with iTunes Match ON)

So i just got iTunes Match, but noticed Genius turned itself back on (i've always had it disabled, it's so annoying).  I also notice that now iTunes takes forever to load (i have a SSD, and it used to instantly pop up).  If i delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file (which is over 50 megs large) iTunes pops right up instantly like it did before, but then as soon as it does it takes about 30 seconds or so to "gathering information about your iTunes library".
So how do i disable Genius like it used to be?  I want to keep iTunes Match on, i just don't want Genius or any of it's useless mixes or playlists or sluggishly large crap files.
For reference, I'm running the latest version of iTunes (10.6.3.25)

    Hi,
You need genius for iTunes match.

  • [Solved] Numlock on boot (with systemd)

I recently upgraded to systemd. Everything is working extremely well. Except that I am given to understand that systemd no doesn't use /etc/inittab, where I had added the command from the wiki that turns on numlock on each of the virtual terminals. Unfortunately the wiki doesn't have any method to do it with systemd, only the /etc/inittab method.
This means that for a brief while, I had to live with the onerous task of hitting numlock manually. It was one of the worst weeks of my life. My index finger is still raw.
I have come up with a somewhat-solution. I just edited /etc/bash.bashrc and added
    if [[ $( tty ) == /dev/tty? ]]; then
        setleds +num
    fi
to it, which works quite well. It turns on num lock once you're logged in as long as you are on a virtual terminal and not on one of the /dev/pts/* ones.
My question is, is there a better place to do this? Maybe some way to get it to turn on before you're even logged in? It doesn't really matter all that much, I'm just trying to make things "correct."

Set it in Xorg for whatever DE/WM you use and it will be active when you switch to a tty.
Don't forget to mark it as solved.
Yes, I tried that. I use lxdm and xfce, and setting the numlock=1 option in /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf turns on numlock in xfce and the light in the consoles, but not the actual numlock itself in consoles.
And Kejpi thanks, I was doing that but when I upgraded to systemd it said those would be taken out "at some point" so I was trying to find out if a permanent solution existed yet. Apparently it does not exist yet, which is fine, I was just curious. So I guess I'll stick with the bashrc method for now.
    Thanks for the replies.

  • How do I start on boot with linux?

    Hi,
I'm running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga). How do I start the weblogic server on boot? Can I just put in the startWebLogic.sh from the /opt/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/adf2_domain/bin directory into init.d? Is there another script somewhere that I can use for this? I've searched and searched for this to no avail.

You may also need to auto-start your nodemanage process(es). So that if your machine restarts, nodemanager will start and then ( if you have CrashRecoverEnabled=true in your nodemanager.properties file ), nodemanager will start your managed servers for you.
