K7N2 Delta Upgrade Power Off Problems

Thanks for the various suggestions.  I can confirm:
 - 4 pin cpu power plug connected
 - front bus frequency changed to 200MHz, processor now recognised correctly as Athlon xp3200+
 - I have been assured the cpu has not been overclocked
However power off problem persists.  System shuts down after approx 1 minute whether i am in BIOS or start initiaiting xp repair from CD.  As the system shuts down after such a short time the xp repair will not complete. The system wil not power on again until at least 15mins has elapsed then promptly powers off again.
I have fitted the D-bracker diagnostic tool and this shows 'operating system booting', ie four green lights.
I note from the motherboard maunal that a cpu thermal protection system is installed for the Athlon cpu platform.  If the mechanism senses an abnormal temperature rise it automatically shuts down the system.  As noted in my original post the system is powering off with the cpu temp at <40 deg C.  The cpu warning temp in the BIOS PC health check stsus facility is set at 60 deg C so do not think this is the issue?
System details:
MSI K7 N2 delta (MS-6570)
Athlon xp 3200+ (AXDA3200DKV-4E)
Corsair twinX 1024-3200C2 DDR-DIM 1024 MB
Seagate ST340016A 40MB HDD
Pioneer DVD Rom
Generic CRD - BP1500P CD
1.4MB mitsumi FDD
Thermal take TR2 470W psu
Coolermaster xdreamII socket A cpu fan
Gigabyte geforce 6600GT turbo video
soundblaster live 5.1
Anyone any further thoughts?

  • [nForce] K7N2 Delta Upgrade Possibilities

I think I fried the AGP slot on my K7N2 Delta-L mobo and was looking to upgrade to a new board, perhaps the Delta 2 Platinum.  Would there be any conflicts with using my old peripherals/modules from the old mobo if I upgraded?  Here is what I currently have installed:
    Athlon XP 2700+ 333FSB
    Nvidia 6600
    2X 512 Corsair XMS2700 CL2
    Soundblaster Live Platinum w/LiveDrive
Oh and if you can think of any way of troubleshooting my old board that would definitely be appreciated.  (Swapped out video cards and still no signal going to the monitor.  Swapped monitor and cables as well and still no picture.)

There were a couple things that were awry.  I was going to swap a fan in my case and it was daisey-chained off the supply that also went to my video card.  I am almost positive that my PC was unplugged when doing this.  I unplugged the fan and then booted back up.  Windows came up but all of the graphics were a shade of blue.  I quickly shut down and checked everything and it appeared that my VGA line was not secured properly(I had recently moved my PC).  Resecured it and replug the fan and received no signal to the monitor.  I swapped out my video card with my old one and still no signal.  Attached my PC to a different monitor and cable and again no signal.
Any ideas?  I will check the d-bracket when I get home from work today and see if it is reporting anything unusual.

  • K7N2 Delta, upgrade to Win XP, no sound

I have a K7N2 Delta with Nvidia Nforce2 and onboard 5.1 sound, Athlon XP 1.25Ghz
I upgraded from Win98se to Win XP Pro yesterday.  I have the full install version ("for Win95 or earlier or PCs without windows") but it allowed me to install as an upgrade.  It warned me that there would be a problem with the sound... and now that I've upgraded, I don't seem to have any sound installed at all.
One of the things that I've tried is to download the latest audio package from Nvidia's web site at http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_audio_4.57_win2kxp
When I click to Open this program, Win XP wants to open it with Win Media Player (I have no idea why).  When I instruct the computer to unzip it using an actual zip utility, I end up with a folder with a bunch of files, including two uninstaller programs, but no installer program or any explanation of what I'm supposed to do next.  When I try to install a new program from the control menu and direct it to this folder, Win XP itself is confused because it can't find an installer program.
I'm not entirely sure that this will solve my problem in any case, but their drivers were reccomended by someone on the City of Heroes boards who had a similar-sounding problem.     When I look at sound in the control panel it appears that nothing is installed, so I assume that installing the right drivers would solve my problem.  Only I can't seem to get there from here...

    Hi,
Jacoband: You may like to start your own thread with this question!
You might also like to inform us of what hardware you are using - it would be interesting to know which motherboard you have as you haven't mentioned it!
You need to make a list of all your hardware and then repost.
Btw, I'm guessing here but to answer your question I'm pretty sure the answer is no! The jumper position only allows for use of front or back....not both!
But as I say as I don't know what you're using so I can't be sure!

  • K7N2 Delta Athlon 2600+ Boot Problem!!

Hey this is my first post...
    Here is my comp:
    K7N2 Delta Series MB
    Athlon XP 2600+
    Thermaltake Volcano 7+
    512 DDR PC3200
    GeForce 4 Ti 4200
I noticed that my comp is booting at 1200 mhz. My comp is reading the CPU as a 1.2. I checked the bios and turned the fsb up to 200 mhz because my friend said he read in a forum that it was ok to do so. I did this and now my comp doesn't read my video card. It boots up ok just I have no picture. I have tried resetting the bios and still I have no pic. My questions are this:
1)Am I not flashing the bios correctly, and if so what is the best way to do it?
2)Could I have permanently damaged the motherboard or video card?
3)If none of the above what do you guys recommend I do to fix the problem and what have I done to create the problem in the first place?
Well if you can please help. I really want to be able to see windows again or even the bios!
    Thanks

set jumper j10 to pins 1-2 and remove jumper j11. set cmos jumper to clear........unplug the power from wall....... press your power button to relieve any charge left in the mb.........now place cmos jumper to save......plug power back in, and try to start it.......if all goes well and it fires up set bios defaults....save and exit bios.............replace j11 and set j10 to pins 2-3.......and restart.
btw jmbook 166 fsb is also overclocking a 2600......default is 133 so take baby steps.

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR Strange network problems

    K7N2 Delta ILSR
    2500+ AMD Barton
    Radeon 9600 PRO
    Windows XP
    Hi there,
My network was working fine yesterday but now whenever I plug a cable into the onboard network card, my computer starts having these strange flucuations...Every few seconds the CPU usage jumps from 0% to about 50% which causes the system to freeze for a second, making it a real pain to do anything.
Does anyone have any idea whats causing this?
    Thanks,
    Shim

for some reason msi have not removed kingston from their supported list.

Further, I'd like to buy another 512 M stick and honestly it seems more sensible to me to mount two equal sticks. And I feel somewhat stuck...
a memory can be incompatible but still work.
alot of people buy any memory they can and throw in and it may work.
but it can start crashing after installing some program or updating bios or drivers.
thats the reason i posted the memtest program.
worry about a crash....no reason for that as you self said memtest reported no errors prime95 no errors and doom3 worked good.
kingston uses many different chips on their memory and its those chips that is the problem.
one guy found out that on the specific memory he bought kingston used 3 different chips on.
only 1 of them worked good on k7n2.
so a 33% chans of success in getting a good module is considered bad.
so write down the numbers on the chips and take it with you to the store and compare it to the memories they got.

  • K7N2 deltas mainboards have a problem with usb devices ??

    Ok here is my problem..
I had installed WinXP Pro with SP1..
I got a 20 GB USB2.0 disk.i connected it on the both front or rear usb ports.
When i tried to transfer files to my usb disk or to my PC, in the middle of the copying, i got "Write Delay Failed" error and lost my usb connection..
I had to plug it out and in again..
Now, i have an DSL modem..Last night, i was disconnected from internet and my modem's lights gone..I plug it again, no lights..restarted my PC, also completely shutdown Windows XP..Again no lights..
Then, formatted PC and installed windows 2000 Pr and SP4, until now, my modem worked fine..But USB 2.0 ports are still no use for my usb disk...
In bios , it's enabled as USB 1.1+2.0..
I think this K7N2 deltas have a problem with usb 2.0 devices and Win XP Pro..
Some guys talking about, removing 9th wire earth, but couldn't understand which wire from where ? From mainboard or from usd device's cable ?
Those cables are fabricated, i think it's impossible ?
My processor is Athlon 2500+, ram Twinmos 512 DDR 400
    Thanks for reply

I'm also having this problem. It's happening with my USB flash disk. I was almost buying another one when I tried it with Windows Vista on the same machine and it worked ok, then I tried Arch Linux (with kernel 2.6.30.5) on another machine and got the same error. After that I tried Ubuntu and it worked ok. Seems that Arch's kernel doesn't like my USB flash disk.

This topic has been moved to AMD SocketA based board.
    k7n2 delta has VIA chipset?

I see "Standard Enhanced Controller PCI to USB Host Controller." Also, I have 5 unknown devices under the USB Controllers in Device Manager. I dont see any ? or ! anywhere in device manager. The only usb device that is working is the printer. Tnanks for the prompt replies & help.
Also, which wire do I snip in regards to the blue JUSB2 blue colored plastic hub? There are 2, black wires pinned together, do I snip one of them?
One more thing, it seems that my usb devices, some, will work when they are plugged in and winxp is restarted only. What giives?

  • Power off problems ----

I was thinking about buying a MB - but --- It's always my belief to not buy anything as soon as it comes out - wait 6 months to 1 year....and read read about the product - I like consumer reports where they rate products.
What are your opinions --- since the MB was released in May - maybe wait until year end ? maybe Apple will have the issue resolved with the power off ? I know it's not all but don't want the possibility as a known possible issue..
    Bob

While you plan might sound good, by waiting 12 months there'll be another revision of the MacBook for you to evaluate over the next 12 months. Normally with Apple computers a good time to buy is around 3-5 month after release of a first revision and around 3 months after the release of subsequent revisions.
There will always be issues with ALL computers of one type or other so basically you will need to take a "risk" of one type or other. As of today I feel that the current MacBook is as good as any other release.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Power problem?!

So I worked all last night trying to fix the damn thing. It wants to keep powering off on its own. So I unplugged all the devices from the board and powersupply except the only needed items, the board, power switch, and memory (cpu fan of course left on). Still turns off. Reset bios, still. Put system into safe mode by the jumper. Still.
Okay so I gave up, and took the board, memory and processor into a local place that sells these boards. They have seen a few problems with them. 4 hrs later, $55 short they tell me the heat sink wasn't on the chip right so it caused the board to think it was hot and shut itself down right away! He said he ran it for most of the day. So I am like whatever! He left it on there how he had it. I took it home, hooked it back up, and there it goes again!
The 1st night it ran fine, no hd, but I ran it the whole evening. The 2nd night I powered it up, it started to do this. Nothing changed. So now I am getting ticked off. I am about to take my whole case, and system back to those guys and tell them see....
Anyone who has used this board have any ideas? I have built many systems and this is the first one that is being a pain in the butt.
    PowerMAX 400w powersupply.
    LP-8800D MODEL #

Powersupply was brand new and came with the case. :(

    Powersupply is rated at:
    +12v - 25amps
    +3.3v - 28a
    +5vsb - 2.0a
Power supplies can go bad at anytime.Take the whole thing up there.Case and all and let them check it out.BTW all power supplies aren't equal. IMHO buy an Antec TruePower 430 or 480 watt

  • Winxp install power off problems

I have a Kt6v board with 512 mb ram, leadtek geforce fx 5500, maxtor 40 gb hdd, athlon xp 1800+; I have a problem when i'm trying to install winxp. Just after the first blue screen (when it loads the drivers in the memory) after 35 seconds it switches off my computer, the power button won't work only after unplugging from the ac outlet and reconnecting. Winme works fine (i have it installed right now), I can play 3d games for hours (10-15 hours) without any switching off, but when I try installing Win xp this happens. I really don't have a clue what could be wrong.
    Someone Please Help!!

    My system:
    Unknown psu:3.3v=28A,5v=30A,12v=18A, 350W
    Athlon XP 1800+
MSI KT6V mobo with ver 1.9 BIOS upgraded
Maxtor 40 gb 7200rpm EIDE HDD
    SBlive 5.1
    Conexant 56kbps modem
Leadtek Winfast A340 Pro (FX 5500) graphics card
    2x256Mb Infineon DDR400 Ram modules
    SONY CRX1611 CDRW drive
    A4Tech Wireless Mouse RFW-33
    Genius PS/2 Keyboard
My HDD and CDRW are on separate IDE cables, they are both Masters and I have the original CD too. I've tried to disable the APM and PM option in BIOS,but it did nothing. There are no Settings like "cpu heat detection" to disable, in my BIOS.
My system temp is generally 37-40C and my CPU is 55-63C the most. All this ran fine with my older ECS K7VTA3 mobo.I could install winxp without any problems...

  • Officejet 5610v Power Off Problem

New to the site, hoping someone can help me solve this problem.
When I go to turn off the power, I press the power button and the display reads "shutting down."  It will stay this way and don't turn off.  I have to unplug it, plug it back in, press the power button, and the display reads "Fax Failure, Unable to send or receive faxes, press OK."  I press OK and it is ready to print.  Ideas?
    TS

I have had my Officejet 5610V now for over two years on my Windows Vista PC. The HP Officejet 5610V that I have has been a turd since the day I bought it. After numerous contacts with tech support and numerous un-installs and re-installs and software downloads and in-stalls, as well as resetting the printer back to the factory settings, I still have to pull the power plug out of the wall socket to turn the HP Officejet 5610V off and plug it in to use it every time. I have never had such a dirty rotten piece of junk in my life!!! I will never purchase another HP Printer again. Tech support was no help at all and I was never offered a replacement printer due to all my problems. Cannon printers have always worked great for me, and it looks like I'm going to have to go buy a new Cannon Printer once I use up the ink in this junk printer. I was looking foreword to having this HP Officejet 5610V printer because it offered so much all in one unit, but I never expected all this hassle and problems!!!

I make a schedule  to run at night for an info package but the power is off at night
How I can repeat this request again
Do I need to delete the failed request?

    Hi Anas,
I agree with Mrituynjay. In addition to that when you schedule the IP, a pop up appears asking for "Last Delta was Not successful. Do you want to repeat Delta". Click on Yes, the last failed delta will also be loaded.
    Hope it helps!
