Some AGP VGA's are picky when they need works @x8, tips to solve the issue:
* Disable AGP Fastwrite {If N/A in BIOS, can be forced off by VGA drivers, or Rivatuner}
* Switch to AGP x4 {If option is N/A in BIOS, you can use Rivatuner http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163 /* By strap driver */}
* Disable AGP 3.0 Calibration Cycle
* Disable AGP Sideband Addressing
* Disable AGP Master 1 WS Read/Write
* Update to the latest AGP Gart driver

    K8N-NEO2-F HT?

Yes, I will be making the big leap to OC my 2.2GHZ 3700+ to 2.4GHZ shortly, and am doing my homework before starting.
But right now I am doing here is trying to see what I can get out of my Asus 9480 video card.
In using 3DMark03 it tells me about my hardware and settings and I noticed that it said "n/a" under hypertransport.
So naturally, I am curious as to did I get all the goodies advertised in my MB or not.
Yep, I rechecked the MSI website and I am supposed to have HT.
My system is detailed in my sig.

Yes, it will fit and it is working very good
The only problem I could think of is that higher memory modules, like the Corsair Pro with leds) might not fit ... with "normal" modules there is no problem.
    thanks!
    now I'm a happy boy
I have "normal memory modules" so thats cool :p

Are you using CoreCenter to overclock? What version is your BIOS? Post system specs.
Quote from: tahuru on 25-May-05, 14:24:45
the overclocking is done solely in bios.
Anyway, there seems to be different problems relating to waking up from sleep, I know that Cool'n'Quiet would stop working when I would wake up from sleep. I'll try overclocking mine a bit and I'll get back to you.
Also, check that the Save/Clear CMOS jumper is in the right position.

    Hello,
In the BIOS you must set the FSB:DRAM ratio to 1:1.
Set the HTT (hypertransport Ratio to x4)
Set the CPU ratio to x4 (just too see if it will work.)
    Set the FSB to 250Mhz
    Set the Vcore to 1.45v.
Set the memory timings to SPD (or default values for DDR500)
Set the memory voltage to 2.7v, 2.75v or 2.8v.
    Save and exit
Then let it boot from the memtest bootdisk.
Use memtest to see if it is ok, test for a long time, over 1 hour.
    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.55.1/memtest86+-1.55.1.floppy.zip
Tight timings and high FSB is even better
I have the same problem I can go as high as fsb 219 without tweaking anything but the FSB. My system is about the same only my ram is ddr 400 so what should my mem volt and timg should be set to?

    Hold fire m8
I'm in the same boat.  I have the Neo2 with 3200 Venice and after applying all correct settings it doesn't work.  CnQ is not yet working with the Venice or San Diego chips.  There should be a new official BIOS update coming out any day that will rectify it, or if you're impatient you could try the 1.9 build 5 (Beta) that enables CnQ to work with Venice chips.
I would personally recommend waiting for the official update though, because you take your MB's life into your own hands with a Beta.
Here is a CnQ FAQ outlining the correct steps to take in setting up CnQ (steps you've already taken!)

    Hi,
Can you start from a floppy disk, or at least get into BIOS (you probably will need a new install of Windows)?
Try to start with a simple configuration: FDD, HDD, 1 stick of memory, video card - remove the rest for now ... reseat the components that you will use (starting with video card, then memory, finally CPU - check thermal grease) and check connections.
Try with the board out of the case (shortcircuiting may occur when the board is not placed correctly, check the stand-offs under the board)
Let us know how things are going!

    hello Colin,
What you are seeing when your screen goes black with the cursor flashing at the top is a legacy from the old DOS booting days. If you had an older motherboard that still offerred ISA slots, you could put in an old ISA video card and see what the system BIOS is trying to tel you. If I remember right it's message would be the same as your D bracket.
Can't help you much except suggest that you keep asking MSI tech support for assitance. They should be able to seng you a new CMOS chip to insert in your board at no cost since you use their recommended procedures. They have done so for others. Just make sure you are not overly  aggressive when dealing with them.
If this does not work  then see theis web site and  consider bying a new chip for your board. http://www.flashbios.org/catalog/index.php?cPath=22&language=en&osCsid=975ee1b8be41cdf61aa2feba67385bb2

  • K8N Neo2 Plat Vista Beta install

Need help.  currently running Win XP Pro.  I have 2 SATA I drives on Sata 3 and 4 set as Raid 0 (Win XP partition and data partition), and a third SATA 2 drive on Sata 1 (data partition).
Burned the Vista x86 Beta ISO to DVD.  I want to install dual boot with Vista on a new partition on the SATA 2 drive.  I boot Vista install from DVD, but the install says it can't find any drive.  I assume it is the nvidia raid drivers needed but there isn't any opportunity given to install the drivers from floppy like you get in XP.
I don't want to rebuild this system just to play with Vista.
Edit:  Did a lot of searching, seems like install from a DVD boot isn't working, at least with the nvidia controller.  Don't know about promise, intel, etc.
I found a link for some nvidia drivers.  These I could burn the "legacy" (I think this is nforce3) drivers to the F6 floppy.  Then I did an install within Win XP starting the instal dvd, and this time I got to the point where I could install the raid and sata drivers.  I think only a clean install or dual boot install can be done, not an upgrade.  But I did get Vista X86 5384 build installed, without any other drivers required.  Every thing is working except my usb game controller.
    scott s.

install vista from within XP but i'm not sure whether you will succeed since you will have to set your sata2 drive in the bios as the primary drive that contains the OS. beleive me the only way you will get to install the raid drivers for nvraid controller is if you start the setup from within xp

If you intall windows with only Hd Sata 200 Giga Seagate in Sata 3 connected
    you dont need to F6
if you install XP With Both HD Connected then you need to F6 x 2 and load both Raid & Sata drivers.
the error you are getting Quote
Boot System Failed. Put Another disk and press Enter.
seems to be because you havnt got a bootable disc in the CD
This causes the boot process to halt
    Try changing Quote
The priority to boot the devices is:
    Floppy
    Cd-Rom
Hard Disk (don't have scsi or sata to choose in bios)
    to :-
    Floppy
    Hard Disk
    Cd-Rom
and see if that works any differently
    hope this is  some help

    Hi,
First, please give us more informations to troubleshoot this issue:
    a. Which versiion of hard disk did you use?
    b. Which IDE mode in BIOS did you use?
    c. Did the hard disk can be detected by BIOS?
    d. Can you use the list disk command to obtain summary information about each disk in the computer.
A Description of the Diskpart Command-Line Utility
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300415/en-us
You may check whether the "plug'n play OS" option in you BIOS is on. If so, you might try to turn it off to force Windows to use the devices detected by BIOS. Also verify the health of the disk: broken disks often take longer to detect and might exceed the
detection timeout. Also check cables and wiring.
In addition, please download the latest Windows 7 compatible motherboard chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer’s website.
    Hope it helps.

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum (7025) Nvidia LAN problem

Just noticed that Nvidia LAN is working in very strange way(was using Realtek one before).
If I connect to the router, it can automatically acquire network address, but I am not able to ping the router! Status window shows "0" packets received and nothing happens.
If I connect to ADSL router, I can connect to Internet through it (!?), but - I still cannot ping the modem, status still shows "0" packets received, and it is acquiring address at least every 30 seconds, constantly displaying Network disconnected - connected.
There is no IRQ for Nvidia LAN, but it "is working properly".
    How this is possible?
    Thanks.

I think I have done evetything possible - reinstalled drivers (5.10; after cleaning with drivercleaner), repaired winsock etc.; except haven't reinstalled Windows. I have now tried the bundled drivers  (Ethernet NRM driver version 4.42 (WHQL)), 5.11 and 5.10, and the result is exactly the same.
Connection can obtain autoconfiguration IP address, but in status window there is 0 received packets.
Also, cannot ping router or whatever is connected (neither can view router's configuration page).
Could it really be hardware problem? I think I need some expert advice.
It is unlikely that it would be possible to get IP address without physically receiving anything. I have tried to connect to the same router with Realtek connection without any problems, also with some usb LAN, so it cannot be a problem of router too.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
