I've ordered some ECC memory so I guess i'll be using the two new sticks rather than all 4 when they arrive. Still that'll give me 2gb which is better than the 1gb I have today.
NOT GOOD! Must be REGISTERED-ECC, else it will not work either.

  • K8T Master and PNY PC3200 optima memory PC won't boot

I have an older K8T Master 2 proc machine I have started to re-use for various OS's. Having only 1gb of memory in it I bought two new PNY Optima 1gb sticks to use either as replacement or in addition to the gigaram I have in the machine already.
The gigaram that has been running forever is PC3200 so I specifically purchased Optima PC3200 also.
The MOBO manual says it supports 3200, 2700 and a few lower specs.
When I try either a stick, or both sticks in any of the memory slots the PC won't boot and just beeps constantly. I'm pretty sure I have the right memory type for the machine and i'm at a loss as to why it won't boot. But since I don't do this very often I thought asking on the forums would help.
Is there some kind of mismatch between optima and the K8T? The manual says each slot should support up to a 2Gb stick and it can support up to PC3200.
I've tried each stick in different slots, only one in the machine in each slot, i've looked in the BIOS and don't see anything there. At this point i'm out of ideas of what to look for.
    Anyone got a suggestion?
    Chris

  • I have a iPhone 5 and mini ipad which I bought unlocked in the UK. I have just moved to singapore and have been told the iPhone won't accept a sim here as the phone is locked to the UK. Any ideas how to unlock. Will this be the same for my ipad?

I have an iPhone 5 and mini ipad which I bought in the UK Unlocked. I have just moved to Singaporen and have been told that my iPhone won't accept a sim as the phone is locked to the UK. Any ideas how to unlock as apple say they can't do it.  Will I have the same problem with my ipad?

Unless you purchased the iPhone direct from Apple in the UK and paid full price either on line or In an Apple Store then it will be locked to a UK Carrier and only that carrier can arrange unlocking
It is unlikely that the iPad is similarly locked as most are sold carrier free unless specifically purchased from a UK carrier as part of a packaged deal involving a subsidy on the price of the iPad ( not very likely but they do exist )

Appearently I have left my glasses somewhere , LOL
hehe yes mate i have guessed you have probably missed that was little hidden  :D : "My mainboard is: kt4v 1.1"
    Sterbik:
"I can't use the program that you suggested for me, because (i told before) my PC reboots suddenly."
put a working stick (which you dont have problems) go and get Memtest86.
then create bootable diskette, you no need to enter into OS. you have to boot from FDD. chance of reboot is minimal. start testing your memory.
go into BIOS and ensure memory timming is adjusted by memory SPD like in example below. then reboot PC and boot from floppy. write down (on the paper) memory timming which you should see into memtest listed for each stick of memory. test each stick one by one of your 3 sticks of memory. and write down induvidual timming of each one. and ensure they can pass test N5 in memtest. paste results.
you can setup memory vcore (DDR Voltage) manually to 2.7V to gain memory stick stability. couse some of your stick may need more power then other once.. couse they are different. you have got mixed memory type..

Well using different sockets as described in the manual you can run single channel. However mixing RAM like that may prove too much for the CPU's memory controller to handle.

  • New Memory Computer won't boot windows

I am running a MSI A58M-E33 running Windows XP
    AMD A Series A4-6300 - 3.7 GHz - 2 Cores - 1 MB Cache - Socket FM2 - Box - AD6300OKHLBOX
    It came with Memory of
    ADATA XPG V1 4GB Desktop Memory Module - DDR3 1600, PC3-12800, Blue - AX3U1600C4G11-SD
It's been running fine since December. I decided to add another memory component. So I bought a duplicate ADATA memory stick
    Now my computer is saying
CPU or Memory Changed !!!! Please enter setup to configure your system.
    Press F1 to run setup.
Press F2 to load default values and continue.
I tried F2 and it goes to load XP and then ask to run in safe mode or normal. I don't see what options to select in the bios for memory. Is there an option to choose what it loads?
I tried taking out the new memory and just using the old memory and it still has the same problem. Same problem with just the new memory or just the old or both together it fails to load. I can access the bios but am unable to load the preinstalled windows os.
Do I have to reinstall windows when installing new memory? I could have sworn the last time I did this on another computer it started no problem.
The only strange thing is though the memory looks the same on the outside. Same stickers same pictures same colors. When I explore my board the old memory is labeled.
    DDR3 memory slot 1: DDR3 SDRAM - Kingmax                                          EWB4GB681CA3-16IC
And the new memory is labeled
    DDR3 memory slot 2: DDR3 SDRAM - A-DATA                                            DDR3 1600
Both say A-Data on the physical memory so I wonder if I was swindled on the original and it really isn't A-Data.
    So what should I do?

Windows XP (non-64 bit) can only detect up to 4 GB of memory.
HOWEVER....a 32-bit system will shadow various memory from the end of memory back towards the beginning. Things such as your video card memory and other various memory components will be shadowed.
On top of that, if you are using the on-board video, the memory allocated to it will start at the 4GB point and work towards the beginning. So if you set it to use 1GB of memory, it will reserve 1 GB of system memory for use with the video card. In that case, you would only have 3GB available. Add in other shadowed components, and you might be at 2.96 available.
All in all, for a 32-bit system, this isn't surprising. Many people don't remember those days, but us old people do.
I would consider upgrading to a 64 bit based OS before going further.

  • I upgraded to lion and now my 2009 MacBook pro won't boot after the grey page.

    Hi,
I just upgraded to lion, my computer restarted, and I was able to use it for quite some time with the new software.  It was upgrading the display pad software and when it finished required a reboot, which it did.  Upon restarting my Mac is now stuck on the grey screen which is supposed to show login info and a place to type in your password, but it doesn't.  All I see is grey.
I'm currently reinstalling lion, so hopefully that will help.  Any suggestions? I want my computer back!

Does anyone know how to get the version for Lion?
I just asked that in another thread:
Does Safari go the way of MobileMe?
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15790649
The Safari download page specifically says the version is for Snow Leopard, and only offers this version, and when I try to install it, the routine gets blocked complaining that it needs Snow Leopard.
I also tried to simply remove the app in order to use Software Update. But this is blocked as well.

  • 6680 Themes from memory card won't show

I've been having this problem lately wherein themes that i saved and apply from my memory card won't appear when the phone gets turned on again. It gets back to its "Nokia" theme. It works if I save it on my phone memory but it's quite an inconvenience since my phone memory is already low. everything was working fine before until just recently. Is there any way I could fix this? I'm starting to get annoyed seeing the default theme everytime I start my phone. Hope someone could help me with this. Thanks.

So the phone won't work with two different memory cards?
This points to it being a problem with the phone, not the cards.
You should contact the retailer or network about the fault or take your phone to a nokia care point.
Care points/service centres and repair info:
    UK • Europe • Asia-Pacific • USA •
Canada • Middle East and Africa
Elsewhere: Click here, select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.
To use a memory card in a PC to recover your files you need to use a card reader. They are quite cheap and can be found at most computer stores.

  • Help - My machine won't boot and I cannot get into the BIOS - 990FXA-GD65

I have been trying to install an AHCI driver for use by WinXP, so far with no success (see this link: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161637.0 )
However, following my last unsuccessful attempt, I had to take a break from running any more attempts and switched off the machine for several days.
I have come back to it tonight and I find that the machine won't boot at all and that pressing DEL or F11 after starting won't take me to the BIOS or the boot menu. The display shows nothing, other than 'No HDMI signal'
Are there any tests I can do to establish what might be wrong?
    pbb

Thankfully the machine has come back.
I tried a couple of cmos/battery clears, with no success.
Then I took out one stick of memory, cleared the cmos and it all worked on rebooting!
I put back the memory slug, cleared cmos again and it continues to work!!
What a relief - thanks xmad.

  • Macbook Pro won't boot past grey screen with Apple logo and then shuts off

    This is a long story...
This morning, I would turn it on and it'd go to the grey screen with the Apple logo for a few seconds and then go to the icon that is a circle with a line through it. After reading online, I was able to boot it up in Safe Mode. I messed around a little bit in system preferences thinking I could fix it on my own, not really knowing what I was doing (I'm a *******). I went to Startup Disk in Preferences. I chose the MAC OS X, xxxx and then clicked the lock to prevent further changes and then clicked restart.
Now when I turn on the macbook, it goes to the grey screen with the Apple logo for at least two-three minutes and then just shuts off. Won't boot into Safe Mode now. Please help. I already tried the Command-Option-P-R keys trick like five times.

If you have a full retail DVD for 10.6 you can boot from that by holding the C key during startup...but you will then be in install mode if that is what you want to do.  At least go ahead and see if it will boot ok from the 10.6 disk and then you can decide what you want to do further.
Apple does not have 10.5 for sale anymore from what some other users have said on here so if you want to go that route you will have to find a copy for sale such as from eBay or one of the Mac resellers.
Before taking the machine to someone, try booting from 10.6 and see if that works...that way you can narrow down problems the machine may be having.

  • Even with a new hard drive and fresh install, it won't boot

Here's my story. On Wednesday last week, we had a power outage. (Yes, I had a surge protector. It didn't matter.) The next morning, when I turned my iMac on, it wouldn't boot. It got to the startup icon, but it just spun forever. I restarted and ran fsck, and it gave me a bunch of invalid sibling link errors. I used my Mac Mini to look at the hard drive in Target Disk mode and got the same result. I also tried using Disk Warrior, which hung a couple times before rebuilding the directory, but that didn't help. I took the iMac into the Apple Store, where a Genius checked it out, reset the PRAM, and then got a kernel panic. He told me I'd have to "erase and install," which I did (I had most of my important stuff backed up, but still lost some data, unfortunately.) I rebooted with the Apple install CD and reinstalled the OS. Then I rebooted into the clean install. The machine was extremely slow and took forever to get to the desktop. Then it hung with the spinning beach ball when I tried opening the Applications folder. A couple more pokes around the desktop eventually produced another kernel panic.
Yesterday, we got the hard drive replaced. I just finished reinstallation the OS, and guess what? It still won't boot. I get the Apple icon after the start up chime, then we get a blue screen that's quickly replaced with a gray screen. Then a black screen, then a gray screen again. This repeats forever with an occasional spinning beach ball until I restart.
I should note that I can boot into single-user mode and run fsck, and it reports no problems. I'm running DiskWarrior now for lack of any other ideas, and while it booted into the CD, it took forever to do so. I'm completely out of ideas, so other than throwing this machine in the trash and buying a new one, is there anything else I can try to diagnose the problem? Please note I was able to boot into a CD and reinstall the OS twice so far, so it still seems to be functioning to some extent.
    Any ideas?

Did you format the new drive, if not it has to be formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) before the OS can be installed. Here is a simple how-to guide:

Been working in iMovie 09 for 6 months with no problem. Decided to update the iLife package and qt today. Now iMovie won't boot.
    Any help?

    Dear IPeter,
My problem is similar. I can accept the 2 app, but the acceptation message is staying. If I try to accept again I get the message, that the apps were already accepted and in my purchases map. Which is the case. Problem on Imac 2013 and Yosemite.

  • IMac G5 Power PC won't boot past the grey apple and pinwheel

After everything froze and having to shut down (holding the power button), it won't boot past the grey apple and pinwheel. After a few seconds, the fans speed up and then nothing else.
*it won't boot into safe mode (holding shift)
*booting to OS on DVD works but then freezes after select language and hit "continue"
*disk utility shows the actual hard drive name but no disk image/partition is listed for me to repair or change
*running the system hardware diagnostic CD returns a list of "passed" for all hardware
I did have the logic board replaced during the extended warranty period a few years back and have not had any issues at all since.
    Any thoughts, suggestions, tricks/tips?

Perfect diagnosis. I replaced the HD and reinstalled the OS. Back in business! Thanks!

  • KN72 + PNY PC3200 Memory

I have installed 2x 256 PNY PC3200 on my Board both in the Green DDR sockets.
Can I add a third Stick of the same ram in the purple slot.
    mike

    Thanks for the reply...
I have tried to install a third stick same as the other two and the system does not boot with all three sticks in.
I have tested each stick on there own and they work fine, I have tested two sticks at a time in the green slots and again they work fine.
but not all three sticks so I can only assuem there is a problem with the memory running up to the 128 ddr setting.
I have checked the PNY-Europe site and my memory is correct for my board but I do not know how PNY memory stands as in the quality of there ram.
