km4m-v overclocking????

Hello,
This is board was not meant for overclocking so it may have limited BIOS options.
I had a look in the manual and it did not show a page for frequency/voltage control.
So can you list everything that is shown in this section, (does it only have the 1 option you listed?)
eg
FSB
CPU ratio
Vcore voltage
Memory voltage
Also the "Advanced chipset features >DRAM settings" might be in the BIOS.
It may contain some useful memory options.
If the CPU is locked you may not be able to change the CPU ratio.
Does the board have any CPU ratio jumpers?
Overclocking the FSB to anything/200Mhz may not work if the board does not have an option for you to lock the AGP/PCI BUS.
Look in the BIOS for something that allows you fix the AGP/PCI BUS to 66/33. < this is a very important if you want to OC.
And if the Board does not have a FSB:DRAM ratio option other than 1:1 you may need to get some PC3200.
But to make matters worse the board does not officially support 200Mhz FSB (400DDR).
So you are probably not going to get very far.

Overclocking is at your own risk.
A moderate overclock could be regarded as a set up where you can maintain your power saving features and keep your voltages within the Intel specified values. For the Sandy Bridge CPUs it is recommended to stay below 1,4V.
OC Genie normally provides higher voltages than is really necessary and if you start tweaking yourself you may find for the same voltage, that you probably run at 4,3-4,5GHz. But each CPU is slightly different and you will need to find the upper limit.

    Clear cmos.
Enter bios and load optimised defaults.
    Exit.
Re-enter bios and change user settings to your liking; ensure usb stuff is enabled.
    Save and exit.
    Shutdown and change keyboards.
    Report back.
I tried what you mentioned above several times and sometimes boot up would work without the PS2 keyboard, sometimes it would not. Clearing the CMOS never worked on this board. I pressed the clear CMOS button (with power cable disconnected) and it did nothing. I also upgraded to the 1.2 bios and that seemed to reduce the frequency of the "overclocking has failed" bootup failures, but it was still present. Also, with the 1.2 bios, I seemed to have more bootup hangs (raid, etc.) once I did get through the initial posting process.
    Power Supply Specs:
Antec Truepower 2.0 (480 Watt) - Haven't had an issue with thie PSU in my previous SLI setup.
    +5: 38A
    +12(1): 18A
    +12(2): 18A
    +3.3A: 30A
    -12: 1.0A
    +5: 2.0A
But at this point, it is a lost cause because the board is now toast (where is the PB and J!!!!). I left the PS2 keyboard connected, installed windows, installed some testing software, and did some performance checking, heard a "sizzling" sound from around the capacitors between the cpu socket and the rear board connetors, a quick burnt electrical smell, and the system powered off. Now the board won't power on. I checked the CPU, memory and cards and thankfully they are ok. So it appears the board is toast. I have already requested an RMA.
The first board I got was DOA, and now this board had issues from the first time I powered it on. It just seems like the K9N Diamond boards have some serious quality issues. I read the NewEgg reviews for this board and there are quite a few reviewers having DOA/posting type issues.

Thanks for the help but unfortunately I couldn't revert the BIOS using the file you supplied.
I am getting the same error as with a manual update: Current ROM version is not compatible with something something.
I've used both the manual way and the MSIHQ USB Bootable Tool and BIOS Helper to no avail...

After realizing something.. this CPU batch can't handle high NB frequencies.  After dropping the multi to x6 and 286 being the current FSB, this processor is chomping on numbers like a champ.  Anything over 2Ghz on the HT link or NB really screwed things up for me.  Weird thing though.. after changing the voltages to 1.4V, the CPU voltage according to CPU-Z state it fluctuates to 1.42V even.  I know the maximum is 1.475 for this chip but I would like to keep temps as low as possible to keep this overclock.  The RAm being 1333mhz ddr3 dual channel modules (2x2GB), it's actually able to hold 1525 (286x1:2.66) mhz ddr3 quite nicely at stock volts.   The ht link and NB freq is at 1716 mhz.  The batch I have is 1030FPMW.

I've just upgraded a Windows XP Professional..................I'm using the latest BIOS for the motherboard and have installed the version 5.9 drivers from the ATI website. All of the problems go away when I run a crappy old ATI Rage3D PCI video card, so this is definitely all related to the onboard video.
Please help me resolve these issues! Thanks in advance!
    use the driver from here.

also in task manager the CPU speed is jumping between 4.34 ghz - 4.38 ghz. And i put the clock to 4.4 ghz in the bios.
A bit weird, you should have had 4.39-4.4.

That ram is supposed to be a 9-9-9-24 timing. Most boards default to much lower. I had the same situation recently. Also, the auto oc tried to fry my memory by boosting the voltage on it to 1.7 when it ran fine overclocked at 1.5.

***Strongly recommendation: For AMD platform, please follow the voltage/timing as specification to stabilize your system instead of select AUTO/Default.

    hey,
I noticed this in your sig...."Custom liquid cooling driven by Apogee Drive Block/Pump, Coolit System CPU Eliminator Mod/Tecs and pump, TT T2MG Radiator"
I have a coolit eliminator that I plan on ripping apart fairly soon....from reading your sig and looking at your avatar it seems you have almost an identical cooling setup to what I'm about to do
few questions I have for ya:
    -what pump are you using?
-what kind of temps do you get with it?
-do you have some more pictures?
-my eliminator is still installed on my current system(squeals like a pig all day long tho) so I haven't had a chance to really examine it closely,Do they come apart fairly easy and will I need any rare screwdrivers or tools? (eg.like Nintendo Wiis tri-wing screws)
I'm thinkin of getting another eliminator (my friend has 1 w/ a broken pump he might sell me real cheap) and plumbing them both together than adding a rad and reservoir with a more powerful pump.
    nice system
edit:I don't mean to hijack your thread (I thought I PMed this lol)...pm me back if ya prefer
Thanks for not wanting to even though did Jack me just the same .
Please respond only to the with overclocking suggestions if you don't have a MSI P45 Diamond and if you do please share your settings in the afore mentioned format.
youeffsee, I would be more than glad to share info and pic's.  Please pm me because I don't appear to have those privileges yet or too unfamiliar with site and haven't fiqured out how to.

Brinbane,,my e6750 runs all day at 3600mhz.  However, I have learned from experience that every CPU is different, I had a 630 that overclocked better than a 670 CPU...it's a crap shoot at best.   Also, just wondering if Vista is less tolerant than WinXP for overclocking?  I have CPU-Zd to 3800, but it's not stable due to my budget memory.  The 680 boards have always been decent overclockers, but an Intel board will almost always reach higher bus speeds than a Nvidia board....but, we do have SLI..!!     If Intel ever comes out with the Skulltrail board, I'd buy it..two processors (ala server board) and Nvidia 100 chipsets for SLI..woohoo.!!

PirateDog, thanks for the advice but that didn't change anything.
I believe I have found the problem with low Gflops in IBT. It appears to be the RAM, I have run a benchmark called Passmark Performance Test 8 and it is showing my memory is only performing at half of what it was in my P8P67 and I beleieve that this can account for the GFlops being cut in half as well. The memory I have is 16GB of Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B. I have made sure that it is being detected as dual channel through CPU-Z and even tried pulling a pair just to see how it would run with just two sticks and no change. I have ordered some new RAM, 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A771ZWI/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item. If anyone knows if there is a setting in the BIOS that would cause this kind of behavior please let me know or if there is some other way to test how the RAM is truly performing.

Thanks for the quick reply and suggestions. I did already have those settings tweaked and was still having issues.
For posterity, after hours of tweaking every possible thing in BIOS, I found the answer. It wasn't even in BIOS. In control panel > power options, under advanced, there was a processor power management setting that locked the minimum value to 100%. Lowered that down to 40% and voila, working multiplier. I have NO idea why it was still working under default values in BIOS as I haven't touched the Windows power settings since I installed windows. But hey it's working now and as of yet, I have no crashes while my system is in idle.
Hours in BIOS and I didn't even have to leave Windows to fix the problem.

    Pchas,
If by what you mean is being able to run RAM at a 1:1 divider with your FSB, then you are absolutely correct.  When overclocking, this is well known to be the most desirable means in which to run your RAM, as slower RAM can bottleneck performance, while faster RAM  won't result in any realized, every-day-use performance benefit (with a Core 2 system.)  Therefore, a 500mhz FSB (2000mhz rated, quad pumped) would pair best with RAM running at 500mhz (1000mhz DDR2, hence, double data rate.)   However, whether or not the memory is SLI enabled has nothing to do with how fast your RAM can run.
I'm not sure I see the value in finding max FSB by reducing the processor multiplier to its lowest value.  It doesn't reflect any real world usage scenario, and it greatly reduces the amount of stress placed on the FSB, such that you'll be able to bench quite a bit higher than what can be obtained when tuning for an overall overclock. As such, it really doesn't tell you anything useful  about the boards capabilities.  M goal is to see whether or not the board will support a stable 400-450fsb with my Quad running at a full x9 multiplier, hence resulting in a 3.6-4.05ghz quad.  I know that the reference boards have no problem doing this, and I'm hoping the MSI will pull through, if not with the latest BIOS, then with one coming down the road.  Being able to support my overclock while providing a superior power-phase & delivery system would make this the hands down, unqualified best high-end nForce board (680i or 780i) yet released.
    Mark.
