MOVED: Mobo dead?

This topic has been moved to Intel Core-iX boards.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=176329.0

Even with a bent pin the mobo would at least show some sign of life (leds, fan starting). Of course you need to at least place a cpu in the socket.
If the reseller refuses warranty claim contact MSI about it as they usually accept rma with a bent pin/bent pins. >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • Time machine remembers moved or dead drives

Hello.  I've been having a hard time wording this in typical searches, to get appropriate answers.
Here goes: I have a older Mac Pro with four internal drives. One drive, my boot drive, failed.
I had been using an external drive for my Time Machine backup. On that backup, I had included a lot from the other internals.
Once I had isolated the problem (the internal was dead or dying) I made room on one of the other internals by moving things around- condensing to allow for a Restore to one of those three remaining drives, temporarily, as I planned to buy a new internal and a larger external.
Suprisingly, it went great! I ended up with a perfectly restored boot drive with all my Apps, etc.
    Now the problem:
When I turned Time Machine on, intending to create a newly restored version of my boot drive---to the new drive I just purchased, TM had a stored list of items that were spread out among the other drives, but I had moved these items all around.
I'm afraid to run TM at all now, not knowing how to tell it to ignore items, volumes, even drives; and restore only the boot drive with its applications etc., and not the various other items that were in places that no longer exist.
If this makes sense, and anyone can advise me, I will greatly appreciate it.

I just restored the first drive. My system drive. I keep all of my work on the other drive except for itunes, iphoto, and iweb. I initially restored from my latest backup. Same OS. No changes.
When you restored the second time, from an earlier backup, was that the same version of OSX?
I didnt do anything about my second internal drive. The mail message was just saying "welcome to mail" and then everything was okay. But this was still a scary sight. I didn't do anything crazy in the terminal, however i did used the CS3 Clean scripts from Adobe and I think that was the real cause of all this misery.
I don't know what that is or does, so can't advise on that.
Should i just restore EVERYTHING on both drives?
If you restored an earlier version of OSX, but had data in a newer format on the other drive, yes.
If the version of your boot drive that you restored has the Adobe applications, and the data was on the second disk, perhaps. Depending on what the "Clean Scripts" thing did, you may now have a similar mismatch.
If you're concerned about Spotlight indexing, don't be. Time Machine automatically omits some things, such as system workfiles, most caches, trash, and Spotlight indexes. So Spotlight will normally re-index a restored drive.
I don't know about the Quickview and Preview problems. What, exactly, is happening there?
OH, and yes. I just read that article. I did everything it said, however I ONLY backed up the first drive. Not the second
Do you mean you don't have backups of the second drive, or didn't restore it?
If you do have mismatches between the two drives, you may need to restore one (or both) again so they're from the same time.
and I was getting a ton of SUID permission errors that couldnt be fixed.
Are the SUID errors the ones shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448 If so, you can ignore them.

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum problem (Mobo dead again?)

Ok, its been more than 4 months since my computer have been "dead".  I went through two RMA for my mobo MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum and I went through RMA for my AMD cpu chip twice.  Just today I decided to put the parts together when I got my new chip.  Upon putting the parts together and turning the machine on, I get nothing.  No post beep, nothing on the screen of the monitor.  My PSU fan is spinning, I still get the red light indicator on my motherboard as I always have been in the past.
I put the parts with 1 stick of RAM next to the CPU.
    My components for the following:
    MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
    AMD 64 X2 5600+
1 stick of 2 GB Corsair Memory
    650 Watts Corsair PSU
Does anyone know what else to do?  It seems like my options are getting dried up and I feel like I want to ask for a refund since my motherboard is still under warranty, if that's possible.

Wait slow down here.  You're saying that I supposed to hear a beeping sound when I power on?  If so, I heard none.  I am hard of hearing myself by the way.
*Not sure what you mean el-jack?
Quote from: Fredrik on 30-April-09, 06:03:16
Are there more things connected to the same el. jack? - Have a feeling I asked you that before!?
This is not 100% true, but if nothing works there is a power failure. If some things work and there is no beeping you can guess towards the processor. With beeping memory climbs up the ladder as the prime suspect.

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum problem (Mobo dead?)

I just got a brand new CPU today.  INstalled it to replace my AMD 64 X2 4000+ with the AMD 64X2 5400+ BE.  I made sure everything was connected and upon turning my computer.  I received all red lights flashing on my motherboard.  Is this a sign of dead mobo?  According to the manual on page 2-26 if light is lead on all four it would mean processor is damaged or not installed proper.  I tried reseating several times.  I tested both the onboard vga and my 8800GT video card.
    Can anyone help out?
    Thanks.

I did all that.  Took out the motherboard out the case and took the old processor out and inserted the new one in, along with a drop of thermal compound.  I put the CPU fan on.  Had 1 stick of RAM next to the CPU and also no drives connected to the motherboard.  Turned on and still nothing.  I still got the red lights.  I tried switching different ram and still no go.
Quote from: Fredrik on 12-February-09, 03:31:38
Red lights normally mean there is a processor problem. Since you can't get the previous processor to work either I would like to know how you went about when you seated the processor. And of course if all power cables are in place.
You wouldn't think so, but as you see time can be save by taking the motherboard out when changing. As Creativity says clearing of CMOS, with power cable unplugged, is the normal way when you get a new processor.

  • Moving from dead WinXP to Working Vista with Centro Phone and Palm Access

About six months ago I upgraded my Verizon phone to a Palm Centro and moved all my files from my old T|X to the new phone with no problems. The Palm Desktop "Access" was on my older computer running WinXP Pro. A week ago that computer died although I had backups of both the Documents and Program Files folders. I have installed the Verizon Palm Access software on my new computer which is running Vista Home Premium as a Administrator. When I try to Hot Sync the process hangs part way through update of the calendar. I followed the pattern given on the posting elsewhere on this forum of copying the Palm OS from the My Documents and Program Files on the backup to the new computer in their respective locations. Specifically when I click on "Details" in the Hot Sync box the first "Date Book" entry and then hangs about 30% of the way through the second one.
I hope someone can help me  so I can begin to hot sync again and thus print out a calendar.

    Post relates to: Palm VIIx

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  With it hanging during the sync indicates that the current palm desktop /  hotsync mgr sees some of your data on the centro as being corrupted.  The first thing you need to do is turn off calendar and contact conduits, right click on the hotsync icon by your clock on the computer then go to either custom or setting-applications.  Select calendar (datebook) go to change or configure and select do nothing and put a check in set as default and then ok or done.  Do the same for contacts (addressbook) and then sync.  If all syncs successfully one of those two are the problem.  Now you need a utility to clean up the date called dbfixit.  It is a free utility that will need to be found thru a google search and downloaded to your computer.  It will be in a .zip format so extract it and once you have the dbfixit.prc file double click on it which puts it into the installer and sync to install.  Then go to the device and run it.  The free version will check for errors and let you know where they are and you will have to manually fix or delete the problems.  If you spend the 12.95 to register it, it will find the errors and fix them as well.  If you decide to register it they tell you that you will receive a email with the registration code in 24-48 hrs.  Once the problems have all been found and fixed and you can run dbfixit and not find any errors, go back to those conduits and select one of them and put it on synchronize and check set as default then sync when successful go in and add the other conduit and sync.  This should fix the problem for you.

  • Big problems think mobo dead 845eMax2

I bought the Xms2700 Platinum and mounted alone on the mainboard, it worked perfectly.
Then I tried it with the other memory that I have and the computer started the boot but it freezed at the windows XP logon. So I tried to change the slot of the memory modules but same results. In the end when I replaced on DIMM1 the XMS the computer didn't boot and said me with the leds that there was a problem with my 2.2GHz processor.I tried also with the other
    memory but same result.
Please can You explain me what appened or what should I do to solve the problem?

    Hello,
sorry to ask you directly to help me but I'm in trouble with my mobo.
    My Pc is:
    P4 2.2Ghz
    Mainboard: MSI 845e Max2-Blr
    Memory:512MBDDR(256Xms2700 Corsayr;256MB Seitec 333mhz)
    Video:Abit GF4 Mx440
    HD:60GB Deskstar IBM
    OS:Win XP PRO
    The problem is:
My computer worked fine until yesterday when the xms memory arrived.
I opened my Pc and put out the Seitec memory that I had to test the Xms memory. They went really good. Then I tried to put them together
but the computer didn't finish the boot process, it booted until the Win xp logon, so i tried to change the memory slots where the memory
were placed but nothing happened until when i mounted on the pc only the XMS2700 CL2 Memory module that funcioned before.
The computer didn't boot. The I saw that the leds on the D-bracket were all red, that means the Cpu is damaged or not installed properly.
I tried with the other memory stick but same problem.
Please help me as soon as you can.
    Thanks

  • E-72 Mobo Dead- help.

I have a recently purchased e-72 from UAE dubai duty free, which i dropped in water, and now nokia care centres here in india are refusing to repair.
They say that its motherboard has died, and even the local engineers, cannot repair it.
i need help, i seriously need to get this phone repaired, because of both financial and data retrieval reasons.
Please help, how can i find new/old mobo or even the parts that are needed in india/uae.
    Thanks.

Water ingress can do untold damage to a mobile phone. Apart from the motherboard every other part of the phone could also be damaged. The cost of getting it fixed normally exceeds the cost of replacing it. Even then you could still end up with a phone that doesn't work.
My suggestion is to leave it to dry out for a week or two. If it still won't power up then you should just consider getting a replacement.
Also have a look at this thread.

  • Is Mobo dead?

Have just bought a KT4AV and after connecting it up i cannot get my PC to boot.  When i press the on button at the front of the tower nothing happens.  Is there anyway of testing to see if power is going throught the board as the ASUS mobo i have replaced had an LED on the board that was lit aslong as a power supply was connected and the main switch was on.  I have tried putting the old board back in to see if the problem was the PSU.  The LED lights but when i try to switch on using the switch at the front of the tower nothing happens on the old board either, is it possible that i may have somehow damaged the switch on the tower case?

Would the LED power light on my old ASUS mobo still light even if the PSU fan wasnt working?  Ive put that 1 back in to see if i can get that 1 to work, but it doesnt (though the LED is on).
Without trying to sound too stupid.  I have identified the green lead, but there are 7 black wires.  I also assumed that the wire would be paired next to each other.  Below is the layout of the wires in the connector.
RED, RED, WHITE, BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, GREEN,BLUE, ORANGE
YELLOW, PURPLE, GREY, BLACK, RED, BLACK, RED, ORANGE, ORANGE
I have tried various combo's of green and black and nothing happens.

  • Mobo dead???

Problem with KT6V.  I cannot get the thing to boot.  I have used the D Bracket which is telling me that my processor is not installed corretly or faulty.  Neither of which is the case.  I have tried the processor back in my old system and is fine.  The 12v connector is in place.  I have tried resetting the CMOS, removed the board from the case and tried on a piece of cardboard with exactly the same result.  Heat sink is installed the right way around, new thermal paste blah blah.  The only conclusion I can draw is that the board is dead.
    Here's what I got.
    XP2600 Barton FSB 333
    512MB PC2700
    Gainward FX5200 128MB AGP8 graphics card
    Superflower 470W PSU (18a on +12v)
    Any ideas?  Pleassseeeeee!!!

    Sure you didn't get a Thorton 2600?
Check the inprint on the CPU, check it up against this to verify your L2 Cache Size
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=amdcpu
    L2 Cache Size Thorton/Barton:
    Thorton = 256K
    Barton = 512K

  • MOVED: Mobo H55-G43 + Intel i3 530 2.93ghz OC'd 3.96ghz

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=140423.0

I've had mine up to 4.1+ with voltage left on 'Auto' for CPU & RAM and the voltage did not increase any for OC to that speed.
If you're going to OC that high and be running CPU under heavy loads be sure you have a decent after market cooler on it. Mine went up to 100oC under 100% load on the stock cooler at that speed. A CM 212+ is OK for one that is not very expensive.

  • Neo Platinum mobo dead, NB still heats up when plugged in

I received a replacement neo platinum two days ago, and setup my computer. It was working fine and I went through several reset and power up/down cycles and it worked great. Yesterday I powered up my computer, did some work and then put the computer on hibernation and left the apartment. I came back in around 4 hours and the computer refused to power up.
I opened up the case and made sure everything was plugged in, but nothing happens when the power button is pressed. I checked for shorts by taking the mobo out of the case, I unplugged unnecessary components, tried resetting the CMOS to no avail. I also tried a different power supply.
I did notice that the ethernet LED lights up green as soon as the power supply is turned on, the main power led sometimes blinks once when the power supply is turned on, and the northbridge heats up when the power supply is turned on. If I just leave the computer sitting around like that, it gets so hot that I can't hold the heatsink.
Does anyone know why the NB might be heating up eventhough nothing else seems to work? Could the NB fry itself like that?
I already went through 2 RMA cycles, and had this problem before. I am extremely annoyed and confused... If I can't figure out what is going on I might have to go out and buy a different motherboard.
    thanks

I tried another power supply, that didn't fix it.
I don't have any other memory to try it with;the only thing I know is that it was working fine in the morning.
I do not have another CPU to try it with either
    I am using a Chaintech AV710 soundcard
the heatsink is an arctic cooling temperature controlled fan and heatsink combo
the NB just had the stock heatsink on
I had 4 other temperature controlled fans in the case, all connected directly to the power supply with 3 to 4 pin adapters, so the mobo only had the cpu fan attached to it
    ethernet cable was plugged in
a serial x10 remote receiver was connected
a Cornea LCD monitor was connected
There was a NEC dvd burner and a lite-on dvd drive was connected
two harddisks were connected (both parallel ide,one on each channel)
the last time this happened, the computer was working for over a month, and then one night it reset itself, and then shutitself down and never came back on. This time I put in hibernate myself.
Cool'n'quiet was on, everything else in the BIOS was pretty much in the default settings
is there any other information that would be helpful?

  • Valuation of Fast moving, Non-Moving Items, Dead Stock

    Hi experts,
Would like to take your valuable suggestions. My Client is procuring certain materials and those materials could be stored for one year, two year, three year.
My client requires the material cost to be depreciated by 33% after one year, and material cost to be depreciated by 66 % for Second year and similarly for third year they want 100 % Deprication.
Are there any standard transactions to check the validity of material. which has crossed one year, two year or three year ?
How to depreciate the value yearly ?
I Just heard of Maintaing some ABC indicator in Material master and running the stock report.
And to reduce the value of material using MR21 ?
Weather it is correct or advice any other solution is there ?
    Best Regards

    Hi Javeed,
There are two things involved in this.
Validity date for the material. This can be created by creating batch for material in MSC1N where you have the option to give SLED(Shell life expiration date). So those material belonging to particluar batch can not be used one SLED date is over. There are two other transactions through which you can chnage the batch properites. MSC2N( Change Batch), MSC3n(Display Batch) & MSC4n(Discplay Change).
For changing the material price you can very well use MR21.
    I hope this helps.
