Mrdrunk,
Are your chipset drivers up to date? If I remember right this is an Nvidia Chipset so you might want to go to Nvidia and make sure you have the latest drivers for the motherboard chipset.

Seems stable now with 4GB.  I am freaking amazed.  I've been struggling with this for weeks and your advice may have resolved my issue in a couple of hours.  Now I seem to have 4 extra GB of RAM along with a couple spare PSU's, an HD, the 9800GT will probably be mine to keep.  I may look for a MB/CPU combo deal on Newegg to replace the P4 setup in the living room or the Slot A Athlon in the garage!

Right on, the 8gb is not an issue with G.skill it is an issue with AMD CPU's. They have a heck of a time running 4 dimms. I only wrote about g.skill as I had difficulty running 8 gbs of it but it did run awesome on 4gbs with the standard timmings. I tried to overclock it and had some issues and that is why I swtiched out to the OCZ Black edition. I am not sure if I am going to try 8gbs of it as I do not know if it woudl work or not.
Seems the old man club around here likes to put it down a lot but it is good ram! (joking)
If you want to get your RAM running at the 1600 you are going to have to up the DRAM voltage to 1.65 and you may have to up the CPU-NB to 2400MHz to get the advantage of the 1600 RAM. If you do try to use 8 gbs again it will down clock to 1333 with 4 dimms.

  • MSI VOX software crashes

Folks I have Vista Home Premium on my Laptop but the MSI VOX keep crashing when I try to click program or device. "InterVideo?WinDVR Application has stopped working".
    Any help?

    This one?

    Has it ever worked?
Try running WinDVR (MSIPVS) in compatibility mode for Windows XP. Which driver did you install, as there are no Vista drivers for this device?

  • MSI-1036 Keyboard/mouse/hotkey issue

I recently purchased a MSI-1036 barebones notebook. It works great except for the hotkeys/shortcut keys. When ever I use some of them, nothing happens (as far as performing their function) and suddenly I can no longer use either mouse button. I can still move my mouse cursor around however. (I also believe it disabled my arrow keys, and enter key. I can hit the windows key to bring up the programs list but I can't cycle through it. I usually hit the windows key + L to logout, then logon as a diff user to logout the original user where it messed up. I've tried this with a new user account, they all have the same issue.  When this happens and I log on as a different user I tried to kill programs one by one, and log back in to the messed up user to see which program was causing this, but none seemed to help. I only tried killing programs 'owned' by that user though (no system tasks). I've reinstalled system control manager, hasn't helped. Not sure what else to try.
The keys so far that do work are the builtin webcam key, and the key to mess with the wireless card. The volume keys, or any of the other shortcut keys seem to freeze it up.
(sry if I typed too much, just trying to be thorough)

The best thing I can do is to tell you to adjust the 'palm check' on the touchpad drivers. It might even have the ability to disable the touchpad if typing is occuring. I'm not sure, it really depends on the driver for the touchpad and I don't have a GE70 so I can't elaborate more.

No, they don't. If they did, they would have the same name.
    http://us.msi.com/support/mb/990FXAGD65V2.html#down-bios
That should be a link for the 990FXA-GD65V2 bios download page.
Actually they do use the same BIOS. The link you provided stopped at BIOS 19.7 (7640vJ7.zip), BIOS files for the V2 are way out of date but the 990FXA-GD65 has updated BIOS files up to 19.9 (7640vJ9.zip) + K.x for W8. K.x should only be used with W8, not XP or W7.
    http://us.msi.com/support/mb/990FXAGD65.html#support_download
For the FX 8320 CPU you would have needed 19.9 (7640vJ9.zip)

sounds like along with drivers, you also flashed your BIOS and this failed and caused this issue

I tried to put the MSI Z97 BIOS on a flash drive and reboot with that, but nothing happens. There are no beeps, just the harddrives booting up and then nothing more..
place your old BIOS version on the USB key not renamed and place the USB key in rear USB ports
then see if BIOS can be recovered
else you have to RMA it as there is no dual BIOS solution on it

I'd try to update the motherboard bios as well. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4481#bios
cheers guys, I just flashed to latest F10b bios and changed pci-e slot from gen3 to auto in bios, running borderlands now for last 30mins in OC mode on card and no crashes or app hangs
fingers crossed, this has resolved the crash issues.....still doesn't explain why the latest Nvidia drivers are saying I cant install due to no digital signature.
I will try to update to latest 344.48 later and see what happens, don't want to mess too much at the moment as I've only just got this card stable....fingers crossed ;p
    thanks for your help guys

Hi, i tried too the modded LN2 BIOS and i have experienced very strange behavior:
After flashing the LN2 BIOS with this one (80.04.47.00.42) and rebooting - the PC did not start, there was no signal to the monitor (the two DVI ports were not working), only through the HDMI (connected with a TV) i saw that the motherboard was reporting some kind of an error and was asking to make a choice - F11, F12 ... but whatever i was choosing there was no reaction. The keyboard was operational, it seemed that the motherboard BIOS was freezed. I tried hard restart -> same situation. Then i changed to the default bios (80.04.47.00.18) and the PC booted and seemed to work normal. Ok, i tried once again the modded bios (80.04.47.00.42) -> the same behavior (BIOS crash). Somehow (i do not know exactly how) i succeeded to boot Windows with 80.04.47.00.42 and everything seems fine. But when i play games for a long time (for an hour for example) suddenly the game freezes and the cpu usage raises near 100%, the whole PC hangs and only hard restart fixes the problem. The problem repeats randomly with and without GPU overclock.
    My PC configuration is Biostar TZ77XE4,I7-3770K@[email protected],Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.C,2x8GB DDR3 2133Mhz GEIL EVO LEGGER ,SSD OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SATA3;Seagate 500GB,WD Black 640GB,MSI N680GTX Lightning@1359/7600,Creative 24bit,Cooler Master HAF X,Chieftec CFT-750-14CS, 22' TFT Benq 1920*1080
I think that the problem is between the motherboard BIOS and the GPU BIOS, but i cannot explain it to myself - why? The motherboard bios is the latest stable (Z77CF419.BST). Now i am with the unlocked 80.04.28.00.3A LN2 bios and everything is working fine with and without GPU overclock.

Yes you could potetntially improve the FPS by increasing the core clock. By how much, you will need to test in the specific game.
There are really 2 ways to go about finding the max core clock. Gradually increase the core until the card produces artifacts or crashes and then increase the voltage.
Or, max your core voltage and then increase the core clock gradually until your card crashes, and then reduce it slightly until its stable. Monitor the temps and see how that goes.

It is not unusual that oc behavior can change with a different driver version. Might be also that stability wasn't 100% checked with first driver and it would now just crash in a different situation when it would crash before as well.
Add specs and settings for Afterburner to apply oc -> >>Posting Guide<<

doing a stress test puts the GPU and VRAM under heavy load 99-100% and will show any instabuility in the clocks that normal games won't and helps you to identify if the clocks and voltage your using is stable or not!
if it crashes under a stress test or just suddenly powers down your system you know that the clocks are not working as they should without being in a game and having the machine crash losing your game progress!

no, my shadowplay is disabled. but this is not the only game, every game crashes and i get the message "Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 344.48 stopped responding and has recovered successfully". ryse son of rome, watch dogs, skyrim, far cry 3...all the same. one game that didnt crash is CoD MW. i was playing mp for a couple of hours and it all went fine but i was running that game on low so it didnt put too much pressure on graphics card. people say that uping the voltage on gc would solve that problem but im not sure how good that is for the card.
also i was monitoring the temp, once it crashed on 67 °C next time on 61...but it should be safe up to 100 right?

Interestingly enough, after reading your post, I did some checking with mine. I have the core voltage bumped up to 1.237 in afterburner (note: it rounds the voltage to the nearest 3/10 of a volt I think) and the clock at 1150 for testing, down from 1200 where it's been for a couple of months due to recent crashes in BL2.
Both GPU-Z and HWiNFO64 show 0.825v at idle and 1.219v under load! Afterburner, however, shows 1.3v using it's in system tray monitoring tool.
So now I don't know what to believe. It seems as if it's not changing for me as well.
Tomorrow I'm going to hook up the leads and check it with my VOM so I can see for myself.

    msi neo4 + 3500 winchester can't overclock

    Hello All,
I'm a real newbie when it comes to overclocking.  I spent some time reading through various technical threads from various forums before I decided to tweak my newly built system.  Found an article by "Some1ne" on overclocking with a NEO4 Platinum and found it to be quite useful.  Last night was the first time I went through with the tweakis and probably didn't do it right or at least get the best possible performance from my components.  Below was what I did from the bios (1.2v) to the best of my knowledge without the system failing to post or crash when running programs or playing games.  Other than 3dmark05, I haven't use any other programs to benchmark the hardware's performance.
    FSB:   225 MHz
    Memclock Index:  200 MHz
CL2-3-3-5 all other settings on auto
    Memory voltage:  2.85V
    Chipset voltage:  default
    CPU VID:  1.45V
    CPU Voltage:  6.6% OverVID
    CPU multiplier:  11x
    HTT multiplier:  4x
    Aggressive Timing:  disabled
    All "... Spread" settings:  disabled
    3DMark05:  5800+ (don't remember the exact score)
With the current setup I have, can someone give me some advice on how I can better tweak my system?  Thanks!
