as long as you where careful and did not Physically damage the card your warranty will be fine (the sticker is mainly there to deter people from just taking the cooler off and damaging the card who have no idea what they are doing) but if you want official confirmation contact MSI >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • MSI 290x lightning crossfire

Hey guys I currently have 1 MSI 290x Lightning. A friend of mine just sold me his ASUS Rog Swift 27" 2560x1440 144hz monitor so I want to purchase another 290x lightning, will my EVGA Supernova 1000 G2 PSU be enough??

First of all please don't open multiple topics on the same issue. The one in Gaming (as you don't have a Gaming series vga) has been removed.
A system with a single reference design R9-290X requires 33A and a 600W psu. For a Lightning make it 40A and a 600W. Any further Lightning will add 20A more. This makes minimum requirements of around 60A and a 750W psu. Your EVGA psu offers 83A and 1000W and should therefor be way enough.

  • MSI X58M IOH Heatsink - Reapplying Thermal Paste

Hey guys, I just got a MSI X58M, and although I haven't tested temperatures yet, I want to deal with this IOH issue right now.
First off, is the IOH the one with the fins and the ICH the one with the MSI logo?
What procedures should I use for taking off both of these heatsinks?
How should I clean the existing paste off, and how should I reapply the Noctua NT-H1 I have?  More specifically, what materials do I need to clean off the heatsinks and what method should I use to reapply the thermal paste.  Then, how do I reinstall the heatsink onto the IOH/ICH?
    Thanks for your help!

Yes, the heatsink with the fins is the IOH. The Logo'd heatsink is the ICH. Before you take everything apart, I would recommend you read this link, & then the other links listed within it, to read & learn 'how to' should you decide to go ahead with a redo.

  • MSI 290x Lightning throttling (Power limit issue?) HELP ME OUT MSI

Ok so ive recently got a 290x Lightning and put a block on it to do some benchmarking. And it appears to be throttling when going beyond +300mV... I make sure to max power limit every time, i have uninstalled CCC incase there are any conflcits, i have tried the original bios, i have tried 13.12 WHQL and the latest WHQL, i have tried with and without powerplay, with and without unofficial overclocking , with and without forcing constant voltage. And i honestly dont know what to do anymore.
This was done with UOC and powerplay disabled so clocks are static, until they throttle apparently. If i stay under +300mV its working just fine and my graphics score on 3dmark Firestrike make sense, the FPS does aswell.
It does this in everything not only in Firestrike.
I used this at the end of MSIAB target to get +400mV. "/wi6,32,8d,40".
I hope you've got some answers MSI!

well the system had been working for 1 year. This trouble occurred 2 days ago, when I've tried to increase memory speed
Well, isn't that how it always happens, when stuff breaks? It works for a year and then suddenly, it doesn't?

when I've tried to increase memory speed
As I said: possibly northbridge (memory controller/PCI-E interface) related.
    Quote
If I remove all memory sticks I hear 3 bips in a row but nothing else (the pc is stuck at the black screen).
That still sounds normal.  The system fails to initialize the memory (since there is no module installed) and halts during the first step of memory initialization.  The same thing would happen on any other system.
Your problem starts once you insert RAM.  Since you don't get any beeps, the system seems to start memory initialization, but gets stuck in the process, or during one of the checkpoints after that.
I don't think there is a solution to this.  Something broke.

So I decided to RMA the card a few days ago. I'd been running perfectly on the integrated graphics while I waited for my replacement. I just recently installed it and it worked great... for about 5 minutes and then I got a black screen accompanied by the gpu fans blowing full speed. I immediately shut off the pc and have not been able to boot with the card anymore. Even if it's all installed and properly plugged in it is not recognized in windows and won't show up at all in the bios board explorer (says PCIe slot is empty). At this point I'm thinking it might be the motherboard but the card also refuses to work on other setups. I've also tried different power supplies with no success. At this point I'm thinking of just trashing this card and going with an nvidia since my friend's card (gtx960) works fine on my pc.

Back in the days of much slower RAM and single channel (before DDR) it was usually no problem mixing different RAM sizes, brands etc. as long as they had similar specs otherwise. At the high speeds modern RAM runs in 2, 3 and 4 channel they are much less forgiving and can cause many problems when miss-matched RAM is used. The fact is over time even though model, part number remains the same manufacturers change chip suppliers for various reasons (price, availability, etc.) so you can't even be assured to get the same if purchasing same model at different times unless you get lucky enough to get 2nd set RAM from the same lot number as the 1st set.

  • MOVED: msi 7970 lightning BE artifacts & weird stuff

This topic has been moved to Graphics Cards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=254585.0

    UPDATE:
B2 error solved. I tried the second bios on my msi z77 mpower motherboard and it wasn't update to the last release, so it was incompatible with amd 7970 card. Now I've update it the video card regularly boot.
Reading online i found that a possible explanation of the artifacts on 7970 cards is due to Hynix GDDR5 video memory ( H5GQ2H24MFR-R0C) voltages which are pushed too by manufacturers. So some people solved the issue reducing the memory voltages (see youtube) and clock speed.
Msi kept them under hynix scpecification, that's to say 6000 Mhz at 1.6 mV, maybe could be a defective module. I mean this card was build for overcloking so it seems weird to see these artifacts when the card is in full load and reaches 75-80 °C. In fact I've no issue, at least for now, with Crysis 3 at high details because the card never hit 70 °C.

I had similar problems. I resolved them removing all pci cards and battery also. Turn pc on without any cards on pci slots until windows boots.
Don't forget to adjust your system time. When windows boot normally I shut down the computer and put all the cards on pci slots. That procedure resolve my problems.
I suspect of the version of my bios. Recently I upgrade my bios version to the 1.E version avaiable on the MSI site.
I hope that you can fix your problem.

  • Msi GX70 wont start after bios setting change

Hello, can someone help me with issue? I changed 3 things in bios:
I turn off integred graphic(i thinked that it will speed it up)
Changed boot from ssd disc instead of cd rom
and turn off logo from start.
now i cant start my computer
    please help me with issue.
can i reset bios without dissasembly laptop?
sorry for my english never had it on shool;)

    Dear Meloon
I have done the same stupid thing few months ago, but I have just enter BIOS without display, just click DEL to enter BIOS (yes, it's still there, you don't see it, because you don't have a GPU at the moment) and from there click key responsible for Load BIOS to Factory Default (F9), then hit Enter, then just reboot with F10 key. You will have your system fully functional after reboot.
If you don't know which F key to click (I think it's F9 as far as I remember), you may use your arrows, hit right arrow 4 times (to Save & Exit), then 1 arrow down (to Load BIOS to Factory Default), hit Enter to load, hit Enter to confirm, reboot (F10 - Save & Reset).
I hope it will help you. Please let me know.
    Sincerely
