Beta 2 or RC1 candidate???? RC1 should support..........
Beta 2 is real, slow and you have alot of updates to DL, but both are pre-release products and will not work 100%.
Even when Vista is released, they will still be alot of hardware that will not work 100% and this is purely because software is always playing catch up to hardware.

Hi, what's your model name exactly?
90 degreee is quite normal on ultra slim laptop, such as GS60 series, especially when the system is on heavy loading.
The thermal system can bear such high for a long time without any problem.  If you want to lower the temperature, you can use FN+F7 to switch system to Green mode. (some new models have such feature)
When the system is using Nvidia graphic, the power LED will turn to orange, you can check that accordingly.
As for why the temperature is high on AC plug in, that's because only on AC mode, they GPU and CPU can run on full speed, such design is mean to save the battery power.  And most of the laptop brand applies the same design concept.

THE RETAILER SAYS THAT PLZ DONT FLASH BACK THE BIOS AS IT WILL COMPLETELY VOID WARRANTY
I am not mistaken, damages to your mainboard due to overclocking are not really covered by warranty either.  If you are really determined to overclock your system, you shouldn't really give much about which BIOS you are using.  Why the sudden panic attack?

  • MSI P67-GD65 (B3) Did I make a bad choice? I'm building a new system!

After reading all the problems everyone seems to be having with boot problems and freezing, did I make a bad choice? Here's what I'm putting together when the parts arrive.
It's been a few years since I built my own rig, but every pc I've ever owned I built myself except my Dell XPS 630i  (got a screaming deal).
    MSI P67-GD65 (B3)
    Intel i7-2600K unlocked and unleashed
    CORSAIR high performance Vengeance memory module 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz 9-9-9-24, 1.5V
    Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 1080P
Western Digital Caviar Black 1T Hard Drive
Dell XPS 630i Case and Delll 750W power supply (I know I shouldn't reuse this case)
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

"Dell XPS 630i Case~I know I shouldn't reuse this case"
Poor case for cooling with quad CPU and higher power consuming VGA card as you sure will end up with high temperature problems. It would be wise to get a better case.

  • Intel Pentium D 925+ on MSI 975X Platinum v1, won't install Vista

I have this 2 components - Intel Pentium D 925+ on MSI 975X Platinum v1 - and a licenced Vista Ultimate won't install with them. I had first an Intel Pentium 4 640 and worked great. Than I've changed the CPU to Intel Pentium D 925+. When I first boot in Vista it hanged the system during the green bar sliding. Changed to XP, worked just fine. Tried again to install Vista, after booting from DVD and loading the files needed, the green bar goes again and after 2-3 passes it hanged again. I found that there is the latest bios available 1.4 and made an bios update... Then I retried to install vista.. It worked just fine... Decompressed the files, copied them onto hard drive, and after the first restart , when the screen appears again on installing and says "Completeing installation ..." it hangs again.   I just can't pass this phase no matter what I do and tried to install about... 30 times, every install being a clean install, formatting the hard drive. Every single time it hangs just there. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

I've found the problem if anyone is interesting in knowing it and if maybe someone is having the same problem as me.... just disable EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) from bios and it will work smooth. Oh   PS, and if Vista isn't ment for public use then why was it released by Microsoft in so many versions even a home version? Do you even know what you're saying with that affirmation? Or you're just a end user that is just too lasy to try understanding Vista or even learning where these operating systems are going to? Saying that if it works just fine on XP why should I install Vista...???????

What do you do by the computer? Modern processors are rather powerful, and I bet you whatever you choose it will live rather a relaxed life 99 % of the time.
That said, I think if you have the opportunity and cash you should go for the most expensive processor you can. I hope that means the 6-core processor.
We usually want people to say what their PSU is, so we can laugh at them and tell them they made a bad choice: What PSU have you got?

  • A few questions about Memory and Power Supply for MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edit

Bought this Motherboard: MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edition
    975X Platinum V.2(7246-020)
    I have a P4 CPU HT in it with 2 512mb sticks of DDR2 memory (533mhz).
I am upgrading to a Core 2 Duo 6600 CPU which has a 1066mhz FSB
What memory speed should I purchase to achieve the fastest bus speed without overclocking???
I get confused as my current memory is 533 which I guess on a Pentium 4 with HT cuts the FSB speed in 1/2 to 266mhz.
    Any recommendations?
Do I need to buy Dual Channel or can I just buy 2 sticks?
    Thank you
    Peter

    Great info again guys!
I'll stay away from OCZ (I read it's more for overclockers).
    @DryHeat:
I watched your sig, great setup! I'm planning for about the same setup (MSI 975x PUE, P180, C2D, ...). But will try a Scythe Ninja for CPU cooler and use an MSI graphic card (maybe 2 cards for 4 monitors in total).
Is your setup silent or just quiet? Makes a big difference for me.
What would you change now? And what is the most noisy component?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm not an expert and by budget does not permit me from making any mistakes.
The case fans create the most noise.  When they are all on "low" I an hardly hear them and have to shake the mouse to see if it's on, but on medium it sounds like a "standard" computer.  Not terrible, but not quite.  On high they are down-right loud.

  • MSI 975X Power Up Edition V2.1 Issue Beside Overclocking After Flash New Bios

    Hi all,
I hope I can get a lot of help here. I'm having a few issues with this board. I cannot find any thread that discuss other issue beside overclocking after you flash a new bios. Here are my problem:
    1.  I installed fresh WindowsXP with SP2. Windows cannot detect new usb device eventhough WindowsXP recognized the usb controller. If I plugin any usb device, windows does not detect a new device. I try to stick a USB flash and I can see the light for a few seconds but Windows cannot detect it. Before I upgrade the bios to version 715 (beta), I used usb flash to upgraded it. Now, the bios is not even boot from usb flash.
    2. Other things that concern me, the southbridge chipset is really really hot. If you touch it long enough, it will burn you.
    3. I cannot figure it out the front audio from manual book (JAUD1). Is any of you know where the mic needs to go?
    Thanks

I removed the Big Typhoon from the MB and I replace with stock fan.  I want to make sure the back plate from Big Typhoon doesn't cause any problem.  When I bootup the windows, I saw WindowsXP recognized the USB device but it disappeared again. I took the MB out from the case and test it without a case. It stills does not recognize the usb. Somebody mention bad PSU(Power Supply Unit) may cause a lot wierd problem. I changed PSU from RaidMax Vocalno 630W to Ultra X-Finity 500W. I don't have a lot of stuff that require power. Do you think the PSU cause this issue?
This is list of my comp:
MSI 975x Platinum PowerUp Edition V2.1
    Conroe E6600 Retail
    Seagate 300G SATAII
    Maxtor 120G IDE 100
    Asus 16X DVD-ROM
    NEC 3550A DVD-RW
    Ultra X-Finity 500W
    120 mm Fan
    80 mm Fan
    Big Typhoon
FYI: USB Controller and USB 2 Controller are enabled in BIOS.

  • MSI 975X PLATINUM POWER UP EDITION

    today is january 23rd, 2010
i just bought the msi 975x platinum power up edition in new york, from a store that was going out of business, but i am having problems because this does not power on.
i am using brand new and tested functioning: thermaltake tr2 430w psu, intel core 2 duo 2.66GHz fsb 1066, and also tried a celeron d 2.66GHz fsb 533, 1x corsair 1gb stick 800 mhz, nvidia 7 series pci express vga card, connected to a test ctr monitor AOC 5en.
i connected the 24 pin atx main connector, the 8 pin connector that powers on the cpu and also the peripheral connector that powers the pci express, and all i got was the heatsink fan spinning, but nothing appears on my screen (all is black).
i hope somebody can help me, because now the store where i bought it has closed, and i dont know how to get a warranty from MSI since i dont understand their RMA policy.

if it is not sure that after updating bios the motherboard can use some more new cpu`s, then i think it would be a waste of time trying to do a bios upgrade.
I am not sure that I understood what you mean, but it is nothing unusual that an older board/chipset will not support the latest processor models.  And this has nothing to do with the board manufacturer.
    Quote
I only wanted to do that bios upgrade thinking it would be enough to avoid the karma of searching for those listed cpus
What is so hard about digging up a supported processor?  I mean, all you have to do is to decide which model you want to get (an E6600 would be a great choice for this board) and then buy it. You will probably be able to get a great deal on a used one on E-Bay.
This is not a complicated situation.

this is my first msi mobo!!!
... and it has nothing to do with this being an MSI Mainboard.  The only problem is that it is an old mainboard/Chipset and that the latest 45nm processors are too different regarding their specifications to be properly supported.
    Quote
where can i get a copy of the driver cd utility of this mobo?
i would like to get a copy from the original cd
There was no driver cd included in the mainboard box which you can make a copy off?
You can find all drivers for download on the product site for this mainboard:

  • Overclocking Issue's MSI 975X v2.0b

I've got an MSI 975X v2.0b , the newer revision.
I overclocked my cpu, and you all know.. since my other topics that the pc wont reboot
If i have an FSB higher than 300. Right now.. i have an FSB of 367*9 = 3300Mhz.
I want the cpu to run like this. It has been Prime stable for 14 Hours.
The only problem is that the computer won't restart after a reboot (Black screen.)
Then I have to push the restart button and it works again.
Now the question : Is it bad if I keep my computer @these overclocked settings. (Everything is perfect exept reboot issue.)
So will i get any problems if I keep this OC.
    Already thnx for the support.

    Timings 5-5-5-15 (works @stock voltage @ 4-4-4-8 @ 780Mhz , not bad for valueram )
Voltage is 1.8V , works @ 2.2V without any problems , but it doesnt disapear the reboot issue.
I have 4 Case coolers.. very good airflow. The ratio of my memory is 1:1,25 with an FSB of 299 atm.
    This is = 9*299 = 2691Mhz. And the memory @ 750Mhz. 24hours Prime Stable.
Now here is the weird thing , when i put the FSB @ 300 the system has the reboot issue even when my ram is 1:1 what means that the ram is underclocked. So from my point of view it ain't a RAM problem. Anothers thing , it stays the same @ FSB 333
What makes it 333*9 = 3Ghz. Memory @ 1:1 = 667Mhz (standard) and it also works @ 1:1,25 = 832Mhz (Stock RAM voltage , the same if i higher it , I think I am lucky with the RAM  ) When I put the FSB 333 I can boot into windows without a problem , even an FSB of 387 works and it's alsow 24Hours Prime stable. The only problem that I have is that the system wont reboot.
I start up fine.. but not always like I want it to. So if I do Shutdow pc -> Pc shuts down. And I can start it up again.
Sometimes I need to put on the startbutton twice. When I want to reboot the system I get a Blank screen (Black , monitor won't go on.)
Then I have the reboot it manually then it load into windows and everything works as stable as hell
U got an solution for me? Stock cooling , memory , and PSU ain't the problem. Then what is it ?
My case is almost exactly as yours. I have good psu, good cooling, my memory can run without any problem at 777 Mhz, but running FSB higher than 316 Mhz, the reboot problem appears, even with the memory downclocked at 632 (316 x 2 x 1). Once the system booted ok, it is rock solid, and can pass all tests.
Today I've received good news from the OCZ Support:
I have that Powerup board here now, but I don't have that exact kit of ram, I will see in the next few days about the FSB capabilities of the board at 1:! and I will let you know what I find.
    so stay tuned...

  • Vista Sleep Issues - 975X Pentium Powerup Edition

    Hi
Hopefully someone can help me out with this one. I've got a 975X Pentium Powerup Edition running Bios 7.4.
I have a continual strange problem with Vista 32 bit entering sleep mode. It will enter sleep the first time and successfully start again but on the second time it freezes whilst entering sleep with the two blue lights staying on on the front panel. Then nothing will clear it except unplugging from the power socket which isn't great!
I've updated the graphics and sound drivers but these have made no difference. Is is possible it is to do with the Bios and is is worth me flashing it to the latest 7.8 version? If so how do I so that with Vista as the instructions on the MSI site don't seem to cover it.
I have checked the Bios setting and it is set to support S3 sleep.
    Help appreciated as I'm stuck!
If its not the bios does anyone have any other ideas?
    Thanks
    Jim

  • Overclocking @ MSI 975X problem.

    System :
    Intel C2D E6600.
MSI 975X v2.0 Powerup Edition Platinum.
    2*1024 MB DDR2 667Mhz Kingston (Works perfect @ 760Mhz , Voltage 2.15).
Point Off View Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX.
    Antec NeoHe 550Watt.
So again , if I set and FSB higer then 300 , and i save the settings the computers fall's off and restart to windows.
Did some Prime testing , 14 Hours stable. Then I rebooted the pc and I got a black screen , It wont even get past the bios.
My temperatures are 31°C idle and load 60°C
I have bios 7.2 latest official from MSI.
One other thing I tried to do to make sure it wasn't my memory.
With an FSB set @ 299 it works , and if I put the divider 1:1 , 1:1,25 , 1:1,5. It al works without problems.
    Just if the FSB is higher then 300 (Or 300)  it won't restard @ 1:1 , 1:1,25 , 1:1,5.
    You guys know any solution?
    Thnx.

No one can guarentee an OC's stability including MSI using D.O.T.
Personally I would not use any automatic OC as none of them test stability nor can they sense when things are going wrong. The only good way to overclock in my estimation is by OC'ing in baby steps and testing at each stage to determine everything that is going on and how things work together at each step before you make the next step. You want to look at temps and voltages at each step to truly see what is happening and to determine where the sweet spot is with your gear. I test with multiple aps like Memtest, 3D Marks, SuperPi, OCCT and Prime95 to determine what is going on.
Automatic OC'ing is simpy not a good idea if it goes over what your hardware combo is capable of as it can damage componants without you knowing what is going on behind the sences.
Your welcomed to your opinions but I am going from experience with seeing first hand what kinds of damage happens with folks OC'ing without having a clue as to what is going on. The damages can even show up down the line after the rig has been in operations for many months. The damages can be very costly harming expensive componants like CPU's or vid cards.
It's your gear and your money so we are not going to tell you not to use automatic processes. We will be happy to explain what is a good or bad idea and why, and at the end of the day it is your call as to what you believe or do.
Oké fine for me ? Is there gonna be a fix for the reboot problem?
And can you make and official MSI 975X Overclocking topic.. where everyone can post there things.

    Hello everybody!
I was wondering how strong/heavy powersupply i need to get my system stable and running smootly when i use an Msi 975x platinum pu edition & Gainward 7950gx2??
Every reply will be greeted much appreciation!

Depends on what else you are putting in your system. hard drives, optical drives, sound, etc.? A good 550-650 watt PS should do pretty good. I am partial to Antec power supplies myself but there are many other good manufactures out there and also some bad ones.
