• Integrated sound card problems

Hi!
I own an MSI 845 Ultra-C motherboard. When I used my PC last night, I noticed there was no sound as I started windows XP. I tried playing MP3 with windows media, but an error message appeared, saying that there's a problem with my sound card.. either I don't have one.. or the one I'm using is not functioning properly. When I turned on my computer again this morning, my system was working properly... no more error messages whatsoever. But the problem recurred when I turned it on again earlier. What could be the cause of this? Could it be the integrated sound card on my mobo? This is the first time it ever happened. I checked my manual but found nothing there that could solve the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi!
I checked the BIOS, and under INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS, I saw AC'97 AUDIO which is set to AUTO... do I have to disable it? A friend of mine told me that If I do that, I won't be able to use the integrated sound card anymore. He also added that I should only do that if I decide to buy a PCI sound card. Is he correct in saying so? :D

• Radeon 9200 graphic card on MSI KT6V-LSR mainboard crashing

My problem is as follows: I'm running my KT600 mainboard (MSI KT6V-LSR) with a Radeon 7000 graphic card without any problems at all. However, when trying to upgrade to Radeon 9200, the machine crashes right after login in Windows XP and I actually have to remove the mainboard battery to be able to start it again. I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers (5.11). It works fine in safe mode and in vga mode. Any obvious solution on this anyone?

sounds a bit extreme. does your system have a reset button?
No, just a power button. However, no response on it after a crash like this.
Quote from: Dr Stu on 14-November-05, 04:30:20
have you tried uninstalling the Catalyst drivers in Safe Mode and then rebooting, then reinstall drivers once windows has loaded?
I have uninstalling/installing the drivers a couple of times yes.

lastly, Is your problem caused by your PSU? please provide your PSU specs in case that is the cause of your woes...
My PSU is a 350Watt powersupply. The case actually prevent me to see the brand of it, so this is all I know. BTW, the Radeon 9200 card is running perfectly fine on another mainboard I have (asus), so I guess the graphic card is fine.

• KT6V-LSR Sata Raid 0 problems

have been experiencing the following problem running raid 0 on sata.
Running any game after a period the game either stops working and crashes to the desktop or I get bluescreened with various error including IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Stop 0x0000008e  Win32k.sys.
Has anyone else suffered this problem and found a solution.
I have tried the following.
I have tried Raid 0 and jbod with no difference
Running a single Sata drive without raid the system appeared stable.
Games refused to run without XP SP2
The system ran fine on a single IDE
I have had long discussions with Microsoft who were very pleasant but unable to help.
I have rebuilt the system from scratch several times. It does not appear to matter what additional cards are installed.

What is your graphics card?
What are your temps?
Are there any error messages in Device Manager?
Final question: What optical devices, CD and DVD, do you have?
The thing about most of the 0x0000008e errors that Microsoft have reports on are pre XP SP2.  They claim to have fixed that for SP2.

• MB MSI KT6V-LSR & VGA ASUS V7100pro compatibility

Hi all,
I'm about to buy myself the MSI KT6V-LSR motherboard. In the specs it is written that the AGP slot supports 1.5 volt video cards. The problem is that my VGA card is an old one - Asus V7100 pro (geforce2 mx400, 64MB) which is a 3.3 volt card. I can't afford to get a new video card right now
Could you tell me if this combination is going to work at all?
Thanks in advance

Well, I've bought the mb and now the pc runs with no problems at all, no compatibility issues. The VGA driver is the standard Forceware 61.67 (not very sure about the version).
Great mobo btw - easy to install, well designed, lots of features
I didn't like the Core Cell software, in the left it displays only the FSB, for the others N/A is shown. When I increase the FSB in this program the system hangs (winXP). If I do the same in BIOS, it works ok... I think I'll uninstall the program.
The CPU in an old Duron Spitfire 600 MHz (6*100FSB), which used to go upto 850MHz by changing the multiplier (changing the FSB did't work) on the old motherboard. With this mobo it does 133MHz FSB with no problems - now running at 6*133.

• K9N Diamond integrated sound card issue (XP64)

I´m having problems with the integrated sound card on my K9N Diamond MB,i cant seem to get the sound to work.
I couldnt use the drivers that came with the MB cause XP64 doesnt read the disc, so i tried the downloadable drivers from this site. To make sure it wasnt the speakers i´ve plugged in headphones in the line-out (green) slot and it still wont work.
And i cant install a separate card cause i use SLI GeForce 7900GTX and they take up pretty much all the space on the board. And i cant go with XP-pro either.
Someone please help

I did, said it found no compatible device for the drivers. Checked in the Mainboard manual for the exact brand of the card.
XP appears to identify the card in every way i´ve checked, and i´ve double checked the volume controls so that nothing is on mute just to be sure. There´s just no sound coming out.
download correct drivers for XP 64 (http://download.msi.com.tw/support/dvr_exe/mbd_dvr/Creative_Audigy_Drivers.zip)
ensure your onboard sound is enabled in BIOS.
install it. ensure its installed propery (in device manager--->multimedia device)
configure your speakers to correct configuration, ensure your speakers is connected property.
ensure in mixer settings "digital output only" is uncheked.
if you wana install drivers from creative: after download correct drivers pack. right click on it and select extract to xxxx folder. then update it manually.

• PCI Sound Card Problems in MEGA PC

Added a new Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card in my PCI slot. I use a special audio program that creates 2 stereo outputs from that card.
I've had this card in my older PC and it works fine. When installed in MEGA PC PCI Slot one of the outputs has a low volume and the other is normal. Why?
I tried to use the stereo outs of the integrated sound card with my programand got the same problem. One stereo out has a much lower volume than the other.
I using Win 98SE/and Sound Blaster Live 5.1. I hope I can get some help or I plan on returning this unit to my local retailer.

Thanks for responding. I did try disabling the onboard sound via the BIOS. No change to the problem.
Even the onboard sound card has this problem when trying to use 2 stereo outs. I found I could balance the outputs by using the AV Rack application. You use it to control the volumes on each output channel. The problem is I can only decrease th louder channel's volume I can't increase the volume on the other and this is what I need to do.

• HD Samsung SP2504C SATA II vs MSI KT6V-LSR: How to install?

Hi everybody,
Ok, i will try to explain the problem with my bad english, so please dont laugh!
I have two modeboards, the MSI KT6V-LSR and ASUS A8N-SLI SE, recently i acquired the HD Samsung SP2504C SATA II for the ASUS, and it works perfectly. So i needed to install this HD SATA II in the KT6V-LSR and i followed some proceedings first:
*The HD already had the XP SP2 installed using the ASUS one
1_i placed the jumper and the HD changed to 150
2_i pluged the data cable in the right conector and the power cable (i tryed in both channels, but only in one the hd is reconized)
3_removed the ide pata 40gb (samsung too)
4_Enabled ide sata in bios
5_configured to boot using hd sata
The system rebooted always just after the bios scrreenies. Strange, the HD PATA worked, came from the asus too! So i decided to format this HD sata. Like always i followed this steps:
* My XP cd dont have service packs and boot system
1_i used a floppy with WINME boot + smartdrive
2_delete partition, create and set active
*3_format c:
4_f:cd i386
5_f:i386\winnt
*Other strange thing, the formatting time just take a few seconds unlike the several minutes that normaly takes.
I started to install the XP anyway, and after the copy of files from cd to hd, during the first boot appears a blue screen, and the messages are relationed to the new HD, so the installation stop. I tryed several times but the same thing happened.
The HD sata is reconized in the windows, shows patitions, i transfered 13gb from it to the hd PATA, but i had to boot using the PATA one. I want to use this HD SATA like master, bootable, not like slave.
How to install it, how to format it properly?
I hope that my confusing explainations are sufficient to you understand the problem.
Some help please!
And thank you very much

HD 40GB SAMSUNG
HD 250GB SATA II (that dont works in this motherboard!)

This being really difficult to explain the problem with my so bad English. I go to try to use a translator online, ok?
I use the floppy of boot of the WIN ME, is through it that I obtain to define the partitions, to format hd, and to install the XP. I always made this and always it functioned, also with this HD SATA II samsung 250GB, but only using motherboard ASUS A8N-SLI IF. But when I go to make these procedures using the KT6V-LSR, I do not obtain to format hd right and I do not obtain to install the XP. Then the problem happens before installing the XP, during the formatting. So i want to use only de hd sata, not the HD PATA.
Another thing, I read in one fórum of my country that the KTV6-LSR can damage and even though to “kill” the hd sata. This is really?

• MSI KT6V-LSR (MS-7021) Can't Boot From CD/DVD

New to the forum and would like to say hello to everyone first.
Here's my problem i can't boot from my DVD drive, my 2 HDD's and 2 DVD drives are working fine inside windows.
Inside the bios screen they are detected in the right order, and are in the right boot order. I checked the jumpers on them and they seem fine and i haven't touch them since i changed my dvd rewriter 6 months ago and i have booted from a cd since then.
I just booted up the Windows Xp disc on a differnt pc and it worked fine, yet on mine it goes straight to my XP OS.
I was hoping someone could help me out, thanks.

Did you install Nero 9  by any chance?
Even if you didn't, and old version of InCD can cause this too.
The problem is upper/lower filters, they are screwed and thus your CD's are missing in action.
Run this tool inside windows: ftp://ftp6.nero.com/tools/General-CleanTool.zip
As for booting, change the boot order in the BIOS, probably set to harddisk first.
If that doesn't solve it, disconnect one of the CD's and test with a single one, maybe one is broken and hinders the other, but that is my last guess.

• Audigy 2 sound card problems

I am hoping that someone out there can help me in a crucial situation.
I am using an Audigy 2 sound card with creative 5. speakers.
I also use Adobe Audition to edit, record sessions for my voice-over jobs.
Recently, I attempted to hook up a web cam so that I could see my grand daughter on the west coast.
After hooking up the web cam, I noticed my home studio environment changed drastically. I began having trouble with recording using my microphone through my Macki mixer. I began hearing a continuous hiss that I had never experienced before.
In fact after uninstalling the web cam, and restarting my computer, I got that horrible blue screen on my computer indicating the world was about to end! Smile
Long story short, I was able to finally get my computer back up, but I continue to experience problems recording "clean' audio".
Three things, after reinstalling Creative from disc several times and restarting my computer I receive a window stating Creative Media Source Detector.....Unable to load needed components....Please reinstall the application"
Also, when trying to test my sound hardware I get a message stating...Direct play voice setup..."an error occurred during direct play voice setup....error code 0x80004005
Last but not least I cannot access the "Creative diagnostic feature on my computer. I only get a small window for this feature that will not open up fully and allow me to run a diagnostic test!
I know this is a lot to absorb, but I cannot get anyone from Creative to address my problems because I am out of warranty and therefore not getting any love from this company.
Need your advice and or guidance on this.
Please respond when time allows.
Vopro

Re: Audigy 2 sound card problems? use add/remove programs and remove all creative software and drivers, then do the same for your web cam and unplug it
restart your pc
download and install and use it to clean up any left over creative bits and bobs and restart your pc when it asks you to
now download and install the
once your back in to windows try recording something and see if everything's back to normal
now reinstalling your web cam but don't reinstall using the cd that came with it
find the manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers
install cd's best avoided simply because the software and drivers they contain are typically the initial release versions, and so potentially very old
and i think we can all agree that old, buggy drivers can be a real pain

• Both Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and Integrated Sound Card Does Not W

Hi! I <B>just</B> installed a new mother board and cpu. Its an ECS 755-A2 mother board with a 3200+ AMD Sempron/64-bit CPU. It's not the best, but i was trying to save money. Before, I had a soyo and a 2800+ AMD Athlon XP and i had the Sound Blaster Li've 5.. Now with this ECS mb, the sound card doesn't get detected anymore, even in device manager. I downloaded the new driver for the Sound Blaster Li've 5. from their official website and when I came to install it... it said that there were no Sound Blaster cards detected on my computer even though it was securely pushed in IN a pci slot!!Then I decided that I don't need sound blaster so i installed the driver for the integrated sound card on my mb (realtek AC-97) and everything LOOKS fine according to their program and the control panel (sound and audio options) but i dont receive any sound from anything at all. I was planning on buying a NEW sound card but then i decided to test this Sound Blaster Li've 5. on my bro's computer. Ironically, it was detected on his .2 ghz AMD Athlon Thunderbird and now i'm puzzled as why it wasn't detected on mine.<B>What solutions have I tried?</B>I installed numerous drivers for both the sound blaster and the integrated sound card repeatedly and there wasn't any hope. I re-installed the OS twice (I'm willing to do a third though)I don't know what else I can try.. can anyone help and please don't say the mother board :[?<B>Specs:</B>3200+ AMD Sempron/64-Bit CPU (2.2 ghz)ECS Elite Group 755-A2 Motherboard52 DDR RamGeforce 4 Ti4200 Video Card

If you had change the motherboard then I suggest you format your harddisk and start from a fresh install of the OS and not just reinstall the OS.

• MSI KT6V-LSR, (MS-7021) and WinXP after upgrade

I upgraded from K7T266 Pro 2 to MSI KT6V-LSR (VIA KT600) and Windows XP (Home edition) boot correctly, but after auto-loging they stop responding to me (I can move mouse+keyb), but the system is running (after 5 minutes screen saver starts). I see, that XP wants (P&P)to install new CPU (Athlon XP 2200+). Safe or debug mode does not help. Is it necessary to reinstal Windows ? Is there any chance to repair the system?
(When I gave there old CPU - Athlon 950, the system P&P halted on detecting CD-ROM).
Thanx for helping or giving me some link on the web.

So then this is not a fresh install of win xp on the KT6?

• [VIA] MSI-7021 (KT6V-LSR) and Sempron 2500 problem.

I bought a AMD Sempron 2500 1.75ghz and a MSI-7021 KTV6-LSR, I connected the Sempron to the motherboard and powered up, well I got power to the fans, but no activity and no sounds. I plugged in the LED diagnostic kit that came with the motherboard and all 4 red lights are on, according to the manual this means either a fault with the CPU or it aint seated properly. So I reset the CPU and the same 4 red LED's came on again.  I thought it could be a PSU supply problem, so I disconnected all the hard drives and the DVD-ROM drives and still the same problem occured.  So I decided to test my old Athlon 1.2gig CPU in the motherboard and the same problem occured again, no activity and all 4 red LEDS on the diagnostic.  I also disconnected the 2 DDR memory chips.
I dont have one of those 4 pin power connectors, do I need on of these.
I tested the new Sempron in my old PC motherboard, an ASUS A7V-E and it powered up without any problems, so obviously it cannot be the new Sempron CPU that is fauly.

I would need the 4 pin even for a old Athlon Socket A CPU too.  Why is this exactly, does the KTV6 use more watts than a normal older mobo.
You need the 4-pin because it is part of the mainboard's design power.  That 4-pin connector exclusively supplies your processor.  No 4-pin lead = no power to the processor.
And you are better off with the Antec than the Tagan.  Tom's Hardware, based in Germany where Tagan is prevalent, has had nothing but failures from Tagan power supplies.  Most recently THG chose a Tagan for their Intel and AMD Stress Test - the Tagan died.  To be fair, the Tagan was a pre-production test unit, but the authors did make a point of saying this was not the first Tagan that has died in their lab.

• MSI Ultra 745 on-board Sound Card Problem

I have a MSI Ultra 745 MB (ms-6561 is stamped on the board itself) that I bought barebones, no software. I had XP running on it, but had to reload everything a few days ago. Now I cannot get the built-in sound card to work.
It is a RealTek AC97 onboard soundcard. I DL the software from the MSI site, and it seems to install fine. But when you go to the sound controls in CP, it says that no devices are installed.
Device manager shows the software installed with no conflicts.
If I try to reinstall the software again over top itself, about 2/3 of the way thru the install, it wil reboot the whole machine. This has happened several times.
If I remove and then reinstall the audio software, it installs fine with no errors and reboots normally. But still CP shows no sound device installed, and there is no speaker on the systray.
I am lost on this one, especially since it worked fine the first time.

That was my next move.  Like I said, this one baffles me.  I just can't see why it won't work.  I have installed prob 40-50 systems in my day and I have never had this kind of problem.  Thanks for the help anyway.
