Hello,
What power supply and gfx card do you have?
Set your FSB:DRAM (memory) ratio to 1:1.
This will make the memory run at the same frequency as the FSB.
So when you do eventually get to 400MHz FSB the memory will be at 400Mhz (800DDR).
Start with your default Vcore voltage, it should be near 1.136v.
Leave the other voltages/settings alone.
Your default FSB = 333.
Increase in intervals, eg +10Mhz so you are at 343.
Run memtest, run orthos.
If you are satisfied with the result, increase by another 10Mhz. 353Mhz.
Do the same thing.
keep doing this until it is no longer stable.
At this point you should incease the Vcore voltage. (CPU voltage)
You can try increasing it in very small steps, I would go straight to 1.2v. (CPU voltage)
Then continue your testing, if it is stable increase again by 10Mhz.
Just for now, do not exceed 1.2v. (CPU voltage)
Also disable all the Spread spectrum settings.
My gfx is 8800GT 256 mb, psu is acbel 510W..should be enough for the rig
U mentioned leave the others volts unchanged...but if i increased the FSB to 400, shouldn't i upped the fsb volt?
Thanks for the reply, would appreciate if u can help me......

Hence would like to know the min volt require for the below setting
    cpu voltage ,
    memory voltage (should remain unchange),
    VTT FSB voltage ,
    NB voltage
    SB I/O power
    SB Core power
Pls advise cos i have no idea the min volt as i keep having the BSOD once log into VISTA......should be due to volt too low causing sys unstable.......
Orthos stress test hang after 3 sec........
Thanks for any inputs and advise......

    it has a 150gb FAT32 partition and a 100gb NTFS one.
Old mobo was a FIC AN11, but that is probably erroneous now.
As for the motherboard not recognizing it, the ide cable was loose. after fixing that, it is detected fine in bios.
And computer management now shows "Online" for the drive after I initialized it, but still shows unallocated under it. It is not unallocated.
Anything I can do to ensure I don't lose information?

  • Is MSI P35 Neo compatible with new USB3 PCI-E adapters?

I've just bought a 1 Tb Samsung USB3 powered external HDD.  Currently I only have USB2 ports which can't handle the transfer speed of USB3.  Is my MSI P35 Neo mainboard compatible with new USB3 PCI-E adapters, if I were to fit one?
    Thanks in advance
    Pedro

If it is an add-on card, it should work if the drivers are properly installed.
However, if you need more information on compatibility results, I suggest that you log a technical support ticket with MSI.

  • Problem with my MSI P35 Neo MotherBoard [Cannot find harddrive]

    Hi guys.
So, I've been trying to install Archlinux for a while now, and I've been trying to figure out what problem Is by myself, and I've been asking a bunch of people, but it seems that it's going to a dead end.
What we figured out, and what we "think" it is, is that the controller on my motherboard does not support the system, and my SATA disk that I am trying to install on.
What i have tried is that.. I've followed the "beginners guide" to install arch linux, and when i noticed that i got a big problem with my harddrive i asked some people for help, tough we cannot figure out what the problem is..
Firstly i boot up with my ArchLinux CD.. Then i write km, to change the keyboard layout. Then /arch/setup ofcourse . After that when i try to partitionate and set mountpoints for filsystem it does not show any kind of hardware at all. So i tried to partitionate with gparted and then boot up with Archlinux again to install all my packages etc etc. But it seems like it does not write the information to anything.
This is a big problem for me cause i really want my Arch distribution to work, so please guys.. Help me!
    EDIT
Just in case you wanted to know.. My motherboard is a MSI P35 Neo

  • VCORE PROBLEMS WITH MSI P35 NEO F

To see if I can help or at least explain what's happening, buy a MSI P35 NEO F for using a quad, the topic is as follows handling vcore is rare
First thing I can not put less voltage that the cpu brings default, second what happens next if bios setting 1.3250 vcore for Quad, once in both windows everest, cpuz, like others programs tell me that this placed on 1.40 vcore which is excessive for the speed at which the quad, this is so in this mobo? Their story that was installed version 1.20 bios which handled vcore%, the upgrade to version 1.40 and is now handled in decimals (numbers) vcore, but still the problem
You pull more vcore which setting in bios and if you want to download the vcore eg put 1.26 vcore not let you because it takes the vcore default of cpu minimum.
i'm  not crashing or problems with the temperatures, but nobody likes to have more vcore's necessary.
Wonder because being rookie of this mobo, maybe there's some bios version that fixes this bug or someone knows something else, thank you guys

-- SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH --

You can slap 1.6v in that CPU and temps won't rise that much.
Core 2 Duo/Quad operates @ 1.250-1.425, anywhere in between those values is perfectly stable for Intel stock cooler and frequency.
Absolutely nothing to worry about. But if you want to complain about >1c I really can't see the sense in that.

Make sure that the memory timings are not set to 4-4-4-x but that they are set to the defaults values (5-5-5-x).  Also ensure, that the memory clock speed is not set to anything higher than 400 MHz (=DDR2-800).  The voltage at these settings should not need to exceed 1.95V.  So please lower it accordingly.  In case the freezes still occure, please run memtest86+ to check your memory for errors.

Please get rid of that tool for all further tests.  Uninstall it completely from your system as it is known to cause crashes and freezes on its own terms when running.

  • MSI P35 Neo-F (MS-7360): Computer randomly freezes while playing games

    Hi there,
I have reached the end of my technical knowledge right now and I'm not even sure if this area of the forum is appropriate. The problem:
While playing higher-end games like Crysis 2, Anno 1404, Mass Effect 2 etc. my computer randomly freezes and the last few milliseconds of sound are being looped on my speakers (kind of like a buzzing sound).
By "freezing" I mean that my computer becomes unresponsive to any action other than pressing the Reset-Button or holding down the Power-Up-Button (no reaction to Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+F4, Alt+Tab, no mouse movement... you get it).
There's no exact timing as to when these freezes occur. The fastest freeze happened after less than a minute of playing a game, slowes one (just today after switching to my newer case with better cooling) took about 2 hours.
This freeze only occurs while my System is under load. No freezes while browsing the web, using office programs, listening to music or watching videos.
    System Specs:
        Mainboard: MSI P35 Neo-F (MSI-7360)
        CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz
        RAM: 4x 1GB DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2
Graphics: Gainward GeForce GTX 560 Ti, 1GB GDDR5 VRAM
PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 620W (upgraded from Xilence XP600, 600W)
New CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 13 Pro (upgraded from OEM Intel Boxed Cooler)
New Case: Zalman Z9 Plus w/ 4x 120 mm Fans (Upgraded from a Case with only 1x 250mm side Fan)
        2 Western Digital HDD (1x 2TB, 1x320 GB)
1 DVD Reader/Burner (unimportant for that error I guess)
        OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
        2 Screens: 1x 24" Asus VS248H and 1x 21" LG Flatron Wide W2240T
Since this error is bugging me for quite a while now and since this is not the first forum I'm trying to get help from, here's a list of steps i already took to get rid of it, obviously to no good use:
reinstalled games where the freeze occurred
updated all Drivers (including cleaning old versions in safe mode; also tried older drivers)
        updated BIOS to v1.A0
        Reinstalled Windows
bought new Case and CPU Cooler to improve Air Flow/Cooling
checked Seating of all components (took out, cleaned, reapplied thermal grease where neccessary, re-inserted)
cleaned old case of dust (obviously no problem in the new case, which is 2 days "old")
ran 7 sequences of Memtes86+ without any errors
ran Prime95 without any errors for about 45 Minutes
ran Furmark for 15 Minutes under full load (burn-in test) without any problems, even though my graphics card hit the 100°C frequency-cut level
ran Furmark and Prime95 simultaneously without any problems
took records of component temperatures and system voltages without noticing anything unusual (at least not after i switched to the newer PSU, which is about 1 Month old - yet didn't resolve the problem)
tested with cyclic removal of 1 RAM device to further rule out RAM malfunction
tested with only 2 RAM devices in dual channel mode (Slots 1 and 3)
tried to reduce RAM clock (800 MHz --> 667 MHz) to no avail
checked S.M.A.R.T. values of HDDs, no issues reported
        tested without any background programs
raised/lowered voltages to RAM, CPU and Chipset in BIOS to increase logic circuit stability/decrease heat production
I need to mention: After I transferred my system to the new case, i was able to play longer than average compared to my old case. So I am guessing that improper cooling was part of the problem, yet improving cooling obviously didn't resolve it.
Since these freezes are really annoying and nobody could help me resolve this so far, I'm hoping to find some new ways of narrowing down the problem or even getting rid of it here.
    Regards
    Sebb

Lets be realistic. A system with a 560TI is recommended to have a around 31Amps under full load, a CX500 would be sufficient.
Have you monitored your CPU and memory utilisation ?
As suggested before, test the GPU in another computer to see if the behaviour is the same.
Whew, I thought for a second there that my common sense had left me when I saw that 60-Amp-Post ^^
Yes, I monitored CPU and RAM usage, there is no recognizeable pattern to be seen and it almost never happens under full load.
I will see if a friend of mine can test my GPU on his computer, and I will test it underclocked right away.
Though one more question regarding that: Should I only underclock GPU Core Clock or both Core and RAM clock?

  • MSI p35 Neo-Fi & PSU compatibility question

Ok I have a new high end computer system that is missing a PSU.
I recently got Coolermaster real power 700w psu which obsiviously wasn't working with the mobo (couldn't boot). Now I'm returning that psu and I have to ask which PSUs are compatible with this MSI p35 Neo-Fi motherboard.
So right now I'm planning to get Corsar 650w TX or Xilence 600W. I don't really want to waste time on returning another PSU so if any of you have any suggestions it would be welcome.

I'm going for that corsair psu then, thanks for replying guys. It has gotten good reviews too so now I'm convinced it's good.

The 650TX is an excellent choice.  I'm interested in what other components you are going to have in the system.

    Intel Core 2 quad Q9450 2.66GHz
    Club 3d 9800 gx2
    Gskill 4GB Dual Kit DDR2 800mhz
Nzxt - Apollo Steel Silver Atx case
    Msi P35 Neo-FI

  • MSI P35 Neo FIR IDE channels

    Hey there,
I have an MSI P35 Neo FIR and I'm curious as to how the single IDE port on the motherboard works. Where does the IDE's primary and secondary channel lie in relation to the rest of the channels on the system? It sounds like a weird question, but what I'm getting at is the board has several SATA channels which seem to be of higher priority.
I need to make a 320GB IDE drive the most prioritised "master" drive in the system, but I'm concerned that the other SATA channels mean that at best the drive would be master of the 8th channel or thereabouts. Am I making a small amount of sense?

Nowdays, SATA Controller treats the drives with individuality, where it can treat each SATA drive as IDE Master Number #x. Only for IDE where master and slave are still involved.
I have the same curiousity as Jack only why does the master drive concern much in your system? If it's the boot order and you have the SATA drive as the boot drive, you can simply go into BIOS and select that particular drive to boot off from. If it's a new installation and you need to run the installation disc off the optical drive, you can also select that to boot off in BIOS settings as well.

Your psu is very weak. That Cooler Master states it would be be able to do sli means nothing.
Funny, 43A on +12V is very weak, and a statement of CM is invalidated without proof.
Quote from: flobelix on 22-February-09, 00:26:11
It is a split rail with three rails at 19A peak each. Peak means seconds before it blows to pieces or shuts down.
How do you know that's a peak value and not a continuous one at 40°C? That unit is a decent AcBel unit, not groundbreaking neither a craptacular one, just a PSU who can power without problems a quad OC-ed on air and a GTX 280.
Quote from: flobelix on 22-February-09, 00:26:11
Across all rails it should do 516w on +12v (which means peak also), that's 43A peak total. So it won't do even 40A continous that's for sure. On each rail it won't do any more than 16-17A.
My god! How do you know that? If it's not PC P&C it doesn't mean that it's crap.
Read before blame a PSU for a failing MB.
Quote from: flobelix on 22-February-09, 00:26:11
I'd recommend trying with another and stronger psu before doing anything else.
I'd recommend buying a MB who's able to power on long term a quad, not only for a month.
