I do not have a shorting jumper.
A flat tip screwdriver used 'very' carefully across the two pins will work as well as a jumper. If the one RAM stick doesn't allow post, then it looks like the G.Skill SPD programming manipulation curse. Most likely have to do as Bernhard suggests & get a basic DDR3 1333 stick to get the system to post. Get the OS loaded & all the drivers & utilities you want, then update the BIOS to the latest version & try the G.Skills again. You might have to set X.M.P. to get them to work.

Here is another motherboard model from MSI using the latest Intel Chipset Z68. It's a micro-atx motherboard but packed with features like - Instant OC, Click Bios, U3/S6, Winki3, Super Charger and OC Genie II.
Layout of the board is pretty good. Chipset heatsink hold by screws, two video card slots for multi GPU configuration, v-check points which are very useful for overclockers, power / reset easy buttons, military class II components - SFC, Hi-C Caps and Solid Caps, Sata 6GB/s ports which are directly connected to the intel chipset and same goes for the USB 3.0.
    More shots of the board
    Bundled Accessories
    I/O Input Terminals
•PS2 with auto sense if KB or Mouse
    •USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports
    •IEEE or Firewire port
•SPDIF and 6 rear audio ports
•HDMI, VGA and DVI for display output
    •Gigabit LAN
That's it. WIll update this post soon

  • MSI Z68MA-ED55

Hi, I was interested in this board (MSI Z68MA-ED55)  I was just curious if any of you have it and can check if it has dolby digital live or dts connect encoding.  Thanks.

I have this board.  No Dolby Digital Live output option in the sound device properties like my old nforce board had.
    Hope that helps

  • MSI Z68MA-ED55, or Z68 series, support XEON E3 series processor?

    Hello,
does anyone know if the MSI Z68MA-ED55, or any other Z68 series, motherboard supports Intel XEON E3 series, like the E3-1275?
    Cheers

You should look through the product information in MSI website first. If the board supports, then the processor will be listed under their support listings, else it's a no. For more information on any other supporting processors, please contact MSI as per the link given by HU16E.

  • MSI Z68MA-ED55 B3 + Cooler Master V8 CPU Cooler Compatibility

Guys, Anyone please advise if Cooler Master V8 CPU Cooler is compatible to Z68MA-ED55 motherboard. What i exactly mean is that will it fit without me having to move the RAM to other slots? Thanks guys!

Depends on the RAM. If you intend to get flashy RAM modules that have heatspreaders (useless for all practical purposes) as high as mountains, then you have a problem. If you stick to JEDEC standard modules, i.e. black chips on green sticks, or Low profile modules, then these should fit just nicely.
Suggest you read the technical design document of the cooler and check what the clearance is from the heatsink upwards to where the cooling fins start. Check the technical design specs of your intended mem modules and see what the height is. That should give you a good indication.
If you want an excellent cooler that has plenty clearance by design, consider the Zalman 9900 series.

    Hi Mechafire,
back from work (for which I had to leave this morning...
    3. When partitioning the harddisk for BootCamp Windows the space for the Windows partition is taken from the OSX partition, thus decreasing the size of it.
Usually this poses no problem for OSX, but OSX can become erratic when the amount of free space on its partition drops below 10% of the partition size.
That's what I meant with 'problem'
    4. Personally I haven't had any problem with installing programs on BootCamp Windows.
However there seems to be some very specific programs (usually protected with hardware-dongles) that do not run perfectly.
In the past AutoCAD was such one, but I'm not sure if this is still so.
    5. As said, I don't have a MBP so I don't have first-hand experiences with it.
When you look around the BootCamp Forum you will find some posts which mentions problems with the trackpad in Windows.
    7. I use BootCamp as well as Parallels with Windows on my Mac and I can say that I never had any problem with them.
BootCamp is the way to go when you know you don't need OSX at the time, while Parallels (and the VM apps) are quite handy when you are in OSX and just want/need to run a Windows program since you don't have to reboot the Mac.
    8. Right now Windows 7 is not supported by BootCamp and also is still in Beta.
At the time of release of Windows 7 there will be most likely a BootCamp update that supports Windows 7.
Nonetheless there are some people round here that are using the Public Beta of Windows 7 on their Macs right now with the Vista Drivers that are on the OSX Leopard DVD.
Personally I would say wait for Windows 7 if you can , otherwise Vista is the next best choice.
    Regards
    Stefan

    Hi,
Post S/N of the motherboard and we are able to tell you (roughly) which BIOS version it has.
What if you try without graphics card?
Did you try to clear CMOS? --> >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
If it needs updating, you will either need:
    -Supported CPU by current BIOS
-SPI programmer (some IT services has one)

  • MSI Z68MA-ED55 Vt-d support?

Hello does anyone know if the ED55 support Vt-d or not?  I know the GD80 does but it is a too expensive for my budget.
    Thanks in advance.

The answer is "yes" as VT-D is a standard feature of the underlying hardware.  To be sure I checked the UEFI Changelogs and found the following entry in the changelog for one of the pre-release BETA/Development UEFI Releases [development state before the intial first final UEFI Release for this mainboard]:
    - Add "Intel VT-D Tech" in OC\CPU Features page

If you have just 1 known working ram mod installed, the vga works in each slot except for the top slot, don't see much around damage to the board  Stick around a bit someone else may have some other ideas
You can perhaps try a different pcie card of some type in slot 1 to see if that is seen, but you should be able to take care of the rma through mail.

  • Z68MA-ED55 (B3) SSD Caching - hard-drive noise

    I have MSI Z68MA-ED55 (B3) with three hard-drives
      (1) Intel 320 Series SSD 40 GB
      (2) Intel 320 Series SSD 120 GB
      (3) Seagate Barracuda 1TB .
I use the 120 SSD for Windows 7 and programs.  I use the Seagate for storage and games and the 40GB SSD to accelerate the Seagate in Maximized mode (for performance: write to SSD first, and delayed writing to spin disk).  This set up is about a week old.
I have noticed that the hard-drive makes a clicking noise, very audible, a couple times per 10 minutes.  I suspect that the Z68 SSD caching might doing this.  When I turn off the SSD caching via the Intel Rapid Storage Technology program, the Seagate went 'crazy'  and was clicking every other second for about 1 to 2 minutes while it is unloading the cache.  I have turned SSD caching back on, so far no clicking.
I am concerned about the noise if it comes back.  Anyone have experienced this?

To me, it sounds like a bad disk drive. I would swap out the Seagate before fussing with the SSD.

  • MSI GE60 2OC-014NE - Install Windows 7 or 8 on new hard drive

    Hi forum
So I just bought the new MSI GE60. I installed my hybrid harddrive in it easily. Now I wanted to install a fresh windows 7 on it. Is it possible?
And if not, how do I install a fresh windows 8 on it, without spending extra money on the OS? Windows 8 came with the laptop, but without a disk.
And what is your opinion? Should I use windows 8 or 7 on it? (I really hate the looks and feel of windows 8.. It's way more complicated and non-user-friendly than 7..)
I hope you can help me out
    Best regards
    Aleksander

The least problems would be installing Win8 a it came with it (your key is embedded in the bios by the way) but I'd also prefer Win7. According to MSI downgrading to 7 should work with the EC of the Win8 version. As drivers and utilities are available for this model and Win7 it should work: http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GE60-2OC.html#download
Be sure to install DotNetFX40Client and SCM as that is needed to make the machine work properly.

  • Moving everthing from emac to XHD b-4 new install

I have an emac 1.25 10.39 and am getting ready to do a new install of Leopard 10.5. Our main priority is moving music and photos to an XHD and bringing them back to the emac intact and in their proper folders. Anything to be aware of or to watch out for? Been putting this off because I'm afraid things won't go back to where they were.
    Thanks.
    Mr. McTev

Better is to put a bootable backup/clone onto the ext HD, ensure that it works like the original, and just upgrade the original or the backup/clone. That guarantees everything is in place, including all of your user information. See these for details:
