  • This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570 reference card.

Hello my name is James king.
and This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570  reference card.
(5/27/12) Day one. I update my driver from Beta 301.24 To WHQL 301.42. and as you would expect, it worked. so i restart and go play kerbal space program (if you haven't played this go, play it now i love it) 5 minutes later it starts artifacting, eg. textures stretching, random green spots. "ugh" so i start troubleshooting, reinstall revert and so on. later i give up and go play  Portal 2, i load the game opening screen i see lots (100-250) of little flickering green dots. first instincts says its the cable, test nope. then maybe the screen, test nope. i keep testing  throughout the night, to no avail.
(5/28/12) so to the internet, for help. 3 hours later nothing, but people with bad cards.                 at opening i call NVIDIA Tech Support, they say to call MSI so i do. 3 calls no pick up, 4th call      and i get a "Support technician" who is no help, says to fill out a RMA form online.                    and so i do more troubleshooting for the rest of the day. and i give up, and go to bed.
(5/29/12)  i fill out a RMA form, end of day i get an email from MSI that says; "Dear Valued Customer [email] your RMA is pending approval, and you will get an email within 1 weak with shipping information.
(6/1/12) shipping information, instructions, but no shipping label.
(6/4/12) i ship the card, via UPS
(6/12/12) after using the most round about route eg. it got to MSI.

(6/14/12) email from MSI, says it is in procesing.
(6/20/12) email from MSI, saying they shipped it and that [this] is the tracking number.
(6/26/12) end of day. i receive the card, and see the case is badly scratched. i install it in my pc and hey it worked (for now). watch some YouTube, and go to play skyrim. start up load my save and i make one step, and my pc hard freezes. "sigh" half an hour later, i give up and go play minecraft 10 minutes in, and it hard freezes. so now more troubleshooting,5 hours later no luck.
(6/27/12) i have called MSI Tech Support 2 times, when they picked up the phone they say to call customer service. 7 calls later no pickup.
and that is it MSI have sent my on the run around too long.

So are you asking us for help with your PC issues or simply complaining to us about your RMA which we on this forum have nothing to do with. • My RMA experience with MSI

    Hi all,
I finally got my system together after receiving a replacement board from MSI.
The original board, an msi k7t pro2-a rev 1, was faulty in which the voltage regulator was bad(?).
3 weeks after I sent the defect to MSI, a new MSI k7t pro2 turbo arrived.
I read allot of horror stories when it came to msi being lousy with the technical support, but these guys really came through and always replied
    to my email.
I'll definitely stick with MSI in the future.
    stevensly

I had an equally positive experience with MSI when I recently got a K7T266Pro2-RU replaced. It took about 2 1/2 weeks from mailing my defective board to receiving the replacement and all is fine again.
Thumbs up to MSI for a painless RMA procedure.  )

Need help with msi mega 180 + athlon xp-m combo

AFAIK, you shouldn't need a pinmod for a Mobile Athlon XP CPU to work in a nforce2 mobo
did you have any other CPU installed prior to this one? if so, refer here to clear the CMOS: Clear CMOS Guide
next, refer to your manual, or download from MSI, for location of the FSB jumpers; ensure J8 is shorted across pins 1-2, and J7 is shorted
finally, enter your BIOS setup menu, and under Advanced Chipset Features, set CPU FSB to 133mhz (or even 166mhz if you have DDR333 memory). the only thing i can't see in the Mega 180 manual is where you set the multiplier...
which is where the BIOS has limited overclocking features, and you might have a problem here
i think i'll pass this over to the Overclockers forum, where someone may be able to give a better answer....

  • Vox Eminor partners with MSI Australia!

After a long road through CS:GO the Vox team was fortunate enough to get a shot at qualifying for last year's MSI Beat IT world championship CS:GO tournament. It was the opening of a door for us in not just one way as we were able to not only compete against some great teams from around the world but we also made some new friends along the way.
One of these new friends was the team at MSI who were very gracious and kind hosts and really stepped up to change their tournament to make room for Australia. We went in with a great respect for them as a result and we soon struck up a great rapport with the MSI team who soon came to love our mascot Kev!
Over the last few months we have worked closely with the MSI team to come up with some great ways to work together to help build on our successes and help us succeed in the future. MSI has all the tools we need to succeed in gaming and it was this base that has created a strong bond between our two brands. We look forward to a future where we can game without restrictions on quality MSI notebooks and components and also help the community by sharing this opportunity with our wider community.
Alicia Oliver Marketing Manager for MSI Notebook Australia had the following to say:
"Today MSI Notebook is very proud to welcome a team who we have followed for quite some time. Vox Eminor first caught our eye at MSI Beat It Finals and have continued to impress us with their recent results. We look forward to seeing Vox Eminor perform with the power of MSI Gaming Notebooks and Components behind them! For us they are our Top Players and Top Choice!"
MSI Component Marketing Manager Chris Szewczyk added
"MSI's motherboard and graphics division is thrilled to partner with an e-sport organization of the class and professionalism of Vox Eminor. MSI's know how in professional gaming hardware combined with Vox Eminor's continuing presence at the highest levels of international gaming is very exciting. We are honoured to be a part of Vox Eminor's push towards worldwide gaming success."
Thanks to MSI for the opportunity to work alongside their brand, all of us at Vox are excited about the opportunity and big things to come!

I'm a new owner of Digi Vox and have being looking around for new software that support Digi Vox.
I came across an article highlighting this issues before. Seems to be happening in Australia only???
Some cannot receive UHF Channel while other cannot receive VHF channel.
The Problem seems to be on the driver or sort. The OEM maker is Twinhan (another Taiwanese coy). Apparently similar to TinyUSB DVB-T another brand but i think the driver is different. However, some one manage to solve the problem by adding some source code.
Google for Digi Vox UHF and browse a bit. If I find it again I'll post it here.

    Thats right, as 10acjed said
    (2x) 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (6-6-6-18 @ 400Mhz) (5-5-5-15 @ 333Mhz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266Mhz )
I can also choose 800 Mhz like the picture of his, but the adjusted dram frequency differs and 800 will result in like ~999.
Btw the dram Mhz is on generally on [auto], but that is the same as 800.
So I set it to 667, So the adjusted dram freq will be around 830.
that could be your problem right there. Is that when you are running at 300 FSB??
Try it at 533 and see what happens... If it is at 830 when set to 667 and you try and raise the cpu  higher its also raising the ram higher, probably causing an issue..
I am still pretty sure you are hitting a wall with that board, its just not a great overclocking board. I am extremely disappointed with my NEO-F as far as overclocking goes. But its been running stable for about 3 years now so its a good board....
If all else fails run it at 300 - 320 (as high as you can get stable) and put the ram at 667 so it runs around 830, ou will have a nice moderate OC...

the problem with your thread is we do not know what memory you intend to use, and why are you  talking about 266 MHz while you can have 800 MHz memory ?? usually you can increase cpu speed by up to 30% and naturally FSB will go up accordingly. so tell us more
Sorry, for me it is complicated to speak English   I have got already ram ddr2 at 800 mhz. I'm talking about 266 mhz because my CPU works well without change v-core (since 280 mhz) and this mainboard doesn't allow to change v-core

anyway , after arriving at the welcome screen of Windows (it was such a sweet image !!) , the same thing happened. The pc froze and after restarting then it doesn't post again ... the proccessor is ok , the mobo was showing bios version 1.8 , so i guess it is an issue with the RAM ... I will run a test with different ram and let u know ...

It should be related with your Maxtor SATA-II HDDs. You might connect them to SATA1/2/3/4,which are controlled by nForce4 chip. So first set them as SATA-I mode and update their firmware. You need to contact Maxtor Technical Support and get the latest firmware. Check Maxtor's knowledge and you can find the correpsonding information. Also you can also find the related in this forum such as the following thread.

Yes you can sli different manufacturer as long as they are the same series of card (like 7900gt with 7900gt, not 7900gt with 7800gt) and you run the later drivers. Oh, and people here will tell you they prefer the msi card of course

Thinking it may be the latest bios release that is has an issue or two.

  • My experience with MSI FX5700 256LE TV out

I want to save some folks a little time and pain that I suffered through on the subject of the TV out on this card.  I fought and fought trying to get the dual display function to work on both my standard computer monitor and my TV at the same time.  I could always get one or the other, but not both.  Somewhere in the manual they forgot to tell that in order for the dual display function to work at all you have to have BOTH standard monitors hooked up!  Once I did this I could access all of the dual display functions in any combination of monitors, be it both standard monitors or a combination of either standard monitor with the TV output.  Just thought you'd like to know.

I have modified the subject line, common sense tells me it would be ignored or lost. At least a search regarding TV out will include this now. Or at least it should.

  • MOVED: Using 4xsata drives with MSI K8N NEO2

This topic has been moved to AMD64 nVidia Based board.
    Using 4xsata drives with MSI K8N NEO2

    Hi , yes unfortunately it's true !
Sata ports 3/4 is the fully nforce3 native chipset integrated (uses nvidia integrated PHY).
Use only theese if overclocking .
Satallink clock will be retained at 100mhz always .
Sata ports 1/2 are bridged from the nvidia chipset to an external marvell PHY .
Theese ones can not be used with HTT ref clock beyond ~230mhz +/- a few mhz without producing data corruption .
Satalink ref clock of 100mhz will scale upwards with increased HTT .
This issue applies to all nforce3 250GB/Ultra based motherboards with more than 2 sata ports regardless which vendor/make/model.
It's the chosen hw design that is the issue and no bios ever will fix it .
If you must have 4 sata drives , do like me and install a pci SIL sata controller card for the drives used for storage .
Take Abit NF8 (nf3) as an example .It has only 2 sata ports .
    Why ?
Only the true/fully chipset integrated sata ports is used .
Although the nforce3 chipset supports a sata link to an external PHY for port 3 and upwards some has chosen to not utilize it .
Nforce 4 chipset has corrected this hw design by adding more sataport by the link to external phy .
In nf4 four ports are fully/true chipset integrated , and does not suffer from this overclock barrier .
