We wont use the Win 8.1 Product Key - We will Purchase new Windows 8.1 License for the fourth PC but install our copy of Win XP on the machine (we have only 3 License that we used for the older 3 machines).
Carey's reply only speaks to the technical aspects of installing a dual boot environment. It says nothing about licensing which is what I think you are asking about. I do not believe that you can purchase a Windows 8.1 License and apply it to a
Windows XP install. You need to enter in the Product Key when the OS is installed and I seriously doubt that the XP install will accept the 8.1 Key. If you don't have a 4th key for XP you won't be able to have a legal copy installed.

I please need some help here to get Intel (HT) Hypethreading to work in Windows XP Pro. I have a Intel SL6Z3 Pentium 4 2.4GHz with HT technology, MSI 875P Neo mainboard (i875P An Intel Chipset that supports HT techology), AMI Bios 1.9 that supports HT technology and I have it enabled! I had no support for HT in BIOS 1.8 because my new SL6Z3 CPU with the MO stepping had newer microcode then BIOS 1.8 had! So I got BIOS 1.9 with Updated CPU microcode and I got support in the bios now! Setting (Enabled)
Now how to turn on HT (Hyper-Threading Technology) for MS Windows XP Pro w SP1?
- Do I need to do a format c:?
- Do I just need to install Windows XP Pro w SP1 again?
- Or is there some thing to turn on in windows?
- Or do you see some thing that Im doing wrong?
It would be nice to have HT working with my new o/c, Spec's at the bottem.

I gess NO HT for me! Im bin trying for weeks now... and only one thing for left to do... Format the drive's (160GB Raid 0) and reinstall Windows XP Pro with these settings!

Tiger upgrade and need for a new qt pro purchase

i had a version of qt pro, purchased 2-05, and have now recently upgraded to tiger... now my qt pro version doesn't work and when i enter my upgrade key to re-activate it, i am told it is invalid... do i really need to re-purchase qt pro? do you know the cause of this?

You'll find a "warning" about older versions of
QuickTime right on the Tiger box.
Once you install Tiger you remove the older version
of the QuickTime Player and a new registration
(version 7) is required.

New to apple and need info about windows on mac

Hey guys
Im planning on buying a mac within the next few months and I know that users are now able to have a windows partition on the mac. Does this allow the user to use server side programming languages etc on their macs as you would on a PC? or is there software that needs to be brought to be able to do this? How do you do the windows partition on a mac?

video ati drivers there are 2 setup.exe setup catylyst both will install if I clk on exe [setup]

After several BIOS updates, this is still a problem (Same MB as the OP and sorry for Hijacking your thread Bud )
I am on E7760IMSv1B1 and it still shows up as not recognized (1.8 Official off the MSI website did not solve the problem).
It doesn't seem to be affecting the operation of the Motherboard but it is still annoying that it won't resolve.

Don't know if your old CPU supports HT if not, you do have to reinstall your OS because your new CPU will support HT and a new installation is requierd then.

Need Help Finding Windows XP Pro Service Pac

This is day four, and I still can't get my brand new Creative Zen M Vision to work at all.
I don't have Service Pack 2, and it was suggested to me that I need it for the player to be recongized on my computer.
I'm on dial-up, and last night I was quoted with 30 hours to download the software from Microsoft. I left my computer alone until now, with 5 hours to go, AOL signed me off for being inacti've. Clearly this is not going to work.
I went back to the Microsoft web site and ordered the Service Pack on CD. However it says it will take 4-6 weeks for the CD to arri've.
I really DO NOT want to wait this long to use my MP3 player, this is really ridiclious.
Is there anywhere else I can get a Service Pack CD in person? Or somewhere I can order one that will not take over a month to arri've?

Like I said above, it takes over 30 hours to download from Microsoft. I tried once, and I got signed off by AOL at 5 hours. It's unreasonable that I could ever be online through dialup for 30 hours, its just not going to happen, so I want to find the disc somewhere sooner then the next 4-6 weeks.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

both are fine to be installed on a Mac.
If you already have a XP with SP2, install it and later use the stand-alone SP3 updater.

Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out. --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.

How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

When i go to the microsoft store and click windows 8.1 it says it is only for who has windows xp or vista...
can you tell me where and how can i purchase the full installation 8.1 for download?
i will keep the ISO file on my flash drive.
