MOVED: Network Driver Problem

This topic has been moved to Intel Core-iX boards.

OK:
Let's try this...
Download and run this driver again.
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6559745&swItemId=vc_140782_1&swEnvOid=405...
Now, go to the device manager and click on the ethernet controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Then click on Have Disk and browse to:  C:\SWSetup\sp69909\WIN7\64\hp64win7, and select the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller from the list of ethernet controllers and see if the driver installs that way.

I have two usb hardrives connected to an airport extreme and it works great until i close the lid of my laptop. When i turn my computer on from sleep/hibernate mode it pops up an error message saying "Network drive interruption" then i cannot connect back to that network drive for atleast 5 - 7 minutes. What can i do to resolve this problem or speed up the process of reconnecting to disconnected network drives?

I suspect the problem may be because if you are using wireless, then Airport is turned off when you put your computer to sleep. This disconnects you from the wireless network. That may be the reason for the interruption message. If this is why the problem occurs then a solution is not to put the computer to sleep or dismount the networked drives beforehand.

  • Import to network drive problem

I tried to import from my camera to my external hard drive that was plugged into my airport extreme. while importing, the external disappeared from my desktop, and the computer had apparently lost connection to the external. imovie however, continued to import, but it was importing to somewhere on the local HD, instead of the networked drive. i have looked in all of the obvious places for these approximately 15 GB of files, but i can't find them anywhere.
i have tried this twice, and both times it happened. i won't be trying this workaround for importing directly to a USB 2.0 external HD in the future because it clearly doesn't work, but now, i'm out of room on my computer's HD, and i have no way to find the files to move/delete them. any idea where imovie put these files? thanks for your help!

This is my post and I'm new, so I may not be providing the answer in the "usual" manner.  (Feel free to educate me!)
    Solution:
The mounted volume on MacBook is /Volumes/photowork.  Notice the lowercase 'p' in photowork.   In LR I had selected a mount point
with *uppercase* 'p'.  See screen shot.  Summary: The already-selected mount point was /Volumes/Photoshop.  LR had no complaints.  When
I changed the mount point to /Volumes/photowork LR imported as expected.
This only became an issue since the upgrade, as I simply never tinkered with mount points and so on.  This archive
server has files back to 2000 on it.    Thanks so much to those who responded.

  • ITunes library on network drive problems

Library source folder (on my network drive) defaults to the original folder locaton on my iBook after an, as of yet, undetermined time. How do I define the library source folder for iTunes on my network drive and force it to keep that location?
    Thanks.

On startup, iTunes checks the presence of the 'iTunes Music' folder as set in Preferences>Advanced>General.
If it doesn't find it, it will reset that location.
There is no way of forcing iTunes to keep the location.
iTunes must have a folder to store the next imports. That's the reason why it resets the location if it can't find the designated 'itunes Music' folder.
Always be sure your network drive is available before running iTunes.
    Hope this helps.

Can anyone help me!! I use a Maxtor shared Drive with various Roku soundbridges around my house.
What i want is Itunes to always put my music in my shared storage Drive (HOME:My Music:itunes.i tunes music), but everytime i restart my Machine i get
    the standard itunes Directory.(MacintoshHD:users:me:music:itunes:itunes Music)
does anyone know how to solve this

    imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

I'm using both itunes for Mac and iTunes for windows, I have a network drive that I have all of my music on. iTunes for windows reconizes the networks drive and all of the music. on iTunes for mac if you go to iTunes, prferences, advance you will find the folder on which all of the music is being stored. Have you tried that?
Further more I have not being able to link my iTunes for Mac to my network drive. when I tried it I had to first look for the network drive, connect to it and then from iTunes look for a folder to add to library. when I did that, itunes tried it to copy all of the music to the computer's hard drive, which I do not want. Do you know how to map a netwrok drive on to a mac computer?

  • Network Drive problems with Fast User Switching

I have a USB drive connected to my Time Capsule and shared to the network. On one of my computers (Mac Pro) I have 2 user accounts which access the data (music, photos). The first one to access the drive after a power on has no problems, and everything works perfectly. However, if I Fast User Switch to the other account, it can see the drive but cannot access it (permission problem apparently). I then have to click the disconnect button in finder, and reconnect, and then can use it again fine. Then when I switch back to the first account its the same deal, having to disconnect and reconnect. It is really annoying, since it marks all my itunes songs as missing and whatnot. Does anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Yes, under Sharing in System Preferences both users have been added to full access of the drive. I had to do that for the non-admin account to be able to access it at all.

I studied that link and can't any reference to disk controllers, yet many are admament that  the problem is poor sound caching which requires sounds to be loaded (from disk!). How the disk controller functions during intensive system use as typified by 3d games could be at the heart of the problem. Other games with large datebases also  stutter, such as Microsoft Train sim.
I'm not saying you are not onto something .. ive had very similar problems with a supposedly top of the range dell laptop with a bad HD interface, everytime it accessed the disk, everyhing would stop momentarily, there is no reason that should be the case and just shows that it is not releasing its interrupt quickly enough.
The reason I pointed the link out is that you were hinting it was the nvidia sata implementation but i think thats only for AMD (atleast now) yet the link implies that intel systems are affected also.
The sooner the cause is discovered the better.. I get it , its not too bad though. installing the new nvidia separate sound drivers helped alot.

  • Mac Mini Mounting Network Drive problems....  weird

Okay 2 Mac minis. Older G4/1.33/512/40/Combo, 10.4.11 Not as old C2D/1.83/2gb/80/Combo. First one mounts SMB shares from a NAS store no problems.
2nd one (newer) does SOME of the shares and not others. Will see, connect, mount and place icon on desktop. As soon as I click th icon on desktop or side panel in finder, it clears screen, closes the windows that are that open. Other mounted shares it will open and use. Its the same ones each time that cause the problem.
Anyone no why? Have checkled all network settings on both machines and there both identical in evy way. Connecting using same user name and password.
    Hellllpppppp

You could try reinstalling the OS?

  • Intel D946GZIS network driver - problem

I'm trying to get Zfd 4.01 ir5 to work on the abovementioned board,
which has an internel intel(r) 82562G integrated adapter, which is not
    recognized by the kernel.
ifconfig gives nothing back, i've tried insmod -f e100 / e1000 (with paths),
but this gives back "init_module: no such device".
intel however, distributes packages containing only the e1000.ko file,
but this is only usable on newer (2.6) kernels.
Kernel version we're using is 2.4.32-pre3.
Does anybody know which module is needed for this adapter?
ir7 is (currently) not an option, since we're in a bit of a version
freeze for Zfd at the moment (I'm calling it "being scared of change").
    Any help appreciated!

When trying an old eepro.o module, I'm getting "init_module: Device or
    resource busy" ..
I found an old Redhat 7 thread that describes a problem with the eepro.o
    module
and the initialization of the hardware, but the mentioned fix doesn't work.

  • P2050 on 2008 network - driver problem

    Hello,
I am using Server 2008 Print and Document services and have successfully added the HP p2050 x64 and x86 drivers to the server.
When from a client I add the network printer the printer installs OK but attempting to print or display the properties displays and error message.
"Function address caused a protection fault exception code 0xc0000005"
The printer is working fine as a local printer to the server and also as a local networked printer (but not managed by the server) on the clients. I found an application on HP drivers site "HP Install Network Printer Wizard" is this something I should have used?

I'm having this same issue, but sharing from Windows 7 Home Premium to a Windows XP client.

  • MSI installer closes with error 1327, Invalid drive on Win 7 Ultimate when My Documents is moved to a network drive

I have several computers with Windows 7 Ultimate installed here at the Pioneer Library System. We have ~20 workstations running XP Pro on a Active Directory domain and are planning on rolling out Windows 7 this fall. I am running Windows 7 to test our programs
(have since RC1) but I am running into an issue when installing software.
The problem I am running into is that when I try to install any program that uses the MSI installer on Windows 7 , it fails with a 1327 error at the point where it is preparing to install and says "Invalid Drive H:\".
All the users in our domain have the "Home Folder" on their active directory profile set to
H:\ (which is mapped to \\PrimaryDC\user$ in the same place). We have also moved the
C:\Users\user\Documents folder to H:\ so as to keep all documents on the server where they get backed up regularly.
If I move "Documents" back to C:\Users\user\Documents the MSI installer works fine. When I look into the registry as suggested in
this thread I found that in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders " and in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders " the key "Personal" points to "H:\".
But, H:\ is a valid connected network drive. Installing from the same account on an XP computer with
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents moved to the H:\ drive works fine.
I have tried setting up another 7 machine and get exactly the same results on it.
Is there a workaround for this besides creating a admin account that does not have Documents mapped to the network drive
H:\ to use for installing programs?
    Thanks

    PLS

I do not have the option with some of these files to pass parameters to the MSI installer. For example, if I download the Acrobat Reader installer from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe and run AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe
it extracts the MSI file to C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files and then runs it.
To reproduce this an a Windows 7 computer (does not have to be on a domain):
    Prep Work:
    Create a user (test1)
Create a folder on the root of C (C:\Test)
Set permissions on C:\Test to allow the test1 user to have full access to it
Share the C:\Test folder as test1 (again, set the permissions to allow the test1 user full access)
Set the "Home Folder" for the test1 user connect to Z: and point that to \\127.0.0.1\test1
    Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
    Check that it works:
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
    Note that it works
Uninstall Acrobat Reader 9.3 using "Programs and Features"
    Break it:
    Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
    Go to C:\Users\test1
Right  click on the Documents folder and click on properties
    Click on the Location tab
Click on "Browse" and select the Z drive
Allow Windows to move the files to the new location
    Check that it is broken:
Check that you have access to the new Documents folder at Z:\
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
Note that it extracts itself to C:\Users\test1\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files
and runs the MSI installer from there
Note that after the MSI installer is started it pops up an error saying Error: 1327, Invalid drive Z:\.
I also see this with various other install programs (VMWare vSphere Client, VMWare Player and Kaspersky Antivirus for example)
Is there any reason why this should not work? Is there something that I should be doing differently?
    Thanks

  • ITunes library repair/moving to external network drive

Hello all, I wonder if you can help.  I have searched high and low for a solution to my situation, but to no avail, and so you really are my last hope.  I've been trying to get my iTunes library in order for quite a while and things have gone wrong, and it has really got me down as I'm worried I'm about to have to start again from scratch.  It has taken me about 6 weeks (spread out over the course of a few months) to rip the 18,000 tracks in my library, then another month or so to get all the metadata right, weed out duplicates, etc.  However, the music collection is so big I have had to place it on a network drive in batches (which has the benefit of being able to access it on any laptop at home - but whatever I do iTunes just doesn't like it.
I can't actually bring myself to recount everything I've done as it's a bit upsetting so I thought I might just summarise the situation that I'm now in to see if anyone could help.  I would be very grateful.
I now have a network drive with an iTunes style folder structure within it's music folder, and within that artist/album/song.wav file path.  For reasons I'll explain later I have many MP3s, a few AACs, and *lots* of WAV files - which sadly, don't hold track metadata, otherwise I could have just re-imported all the files into a new iTunes library.  However correct metadata and having the files as WAVs are vital (again, I'll explain later), so it's not something I can change.
I have moved iTunes libraries before when I have moved PCs without any hitches, by moving the music folders and files and doing a search and replace in the library file to point to the new locations.  I thought this would be the same situation.  It's complicated by the fact that I had been hoping to put the music files and library on the network drive so that iTunes on my Mac and PC would be able to access it and write back metadata changes, play counts and so on.
I've not been able to work out how to do this as file paths to the network drive differ on both OS's - Windows paths are more like \\DISKSTATION\Music\ etc etc whereas Mac ones are more like file://localhost/Volumes/Music etc etc
I don't understand networking very well so quickly gave up on the idea of trying to get my library to work off two machines with two OSs (though is someone can explain how/if this is possible, I'd like to try it again).
Now I was left trying to get the library to work with iTunes on either just the Mac or just the PC, and I haven't managed it yet.  When I have been experimenting with amending the file paths in the library and opening it iTunes again I get little WiFi style icons, like the ones you see in the radio section of iTunes - indicating an audio stream - next to every track, and if you click play, it tries to open the track - but doesn't - and keeps trying.  It does this on both machines.  I've tried windows style file paths on the PC, and Mac ones with OSX, I've tried referring to the drive's network IP address and so on - but can't get it to work.  Most of the time it behaves as described above.  Some times it deletes the whole library and starts again from scratch.  At present the file seems to have reverted to the point after I had added all my tracks but before I'd amended the metadata.
(I have a backup of the library file with all the correct data in it, but pointing to files in the wrong places, so I am happy to experiment.)
I've read a lot of threads on similar external drive nightmares people have been having, and it is often mentioned elsewhere to consolidate the files to the iTunes folder once you have told iTunes of the new location, but this wouldn't have been practical - there was over 400gb of them to move over a (relatively) slow network.  And I can't consolidate now with the music files on the network drive as iTunes has all the information in the library, it just seems to not be able to find the files.
So my question is what am I doing wrong and/or how can I fix the library to point to the files in the new location?  It must be possible as I have a version of the XML file with all the artist/album/filename.wav structure intact - it's just getting the bit before it correct and getting iTunes to accept the library once I've amended it.  Is there a way to get my library to recognise the files on the network drive properly - even just on one machine?
I would be happy to start reloading tracks into a new, clean library but there is no metadata WITHIN the wav files like there is in the MP3 and WAVs and so I'll be left with a lot of wavs that aren't titled properly (and I really can't face going back and adding the titles and artists for thousands of tracks again).  Before moving the library I *did* rename the files with artist - track - genre - year etc. etc. information - so if there was a way for iTunes to rebuild the library with information from the filename, I'd be happy to try it.  But even the great Doug's iTunes Scripts website can't even offer anything like that.
To explain the point about the files being all WAVs - the files are going to be used for broadcast and so need to be in the best quality in a format that can be opened - FLAC won't work.  And similarly, the metadata is important as it will be used in a professional situation too.
Any help would be gratefully received as if this doesn't work I seriously think I will stop buying music as I don't want to add to the problem!  I can't face months of ripping everything in again.  I'm so fed up.

Yes it's quite possible, that's how I have mine set up, and Moving iTunes Music will tell you how to go about it.
Pitfalls? Can't really think of any.
    Regards
    TD

  • Problem putting songs on shuffle from network drive

Hi - I was hoping someone here might have an idea on a frustrating problem I've been dealing with since I purchased a Network Attached Storage Drive.
Prior to having the drive, I had my music on my laptop and it x-ferred to the 2G Shuffle no problem at all. Once I've moved my music to the Network drive, synching is next to impossible. If I select a playlist w/about 200 songs or so, it will not transfer. I let it run overnight and it was not finished after over 8 hours. Itunes keeps saying updating ipod, do not disconnect. If I cancel it, I'll have about 15 songs on the ipod and the remainder did not transfer.
If I do one or two songs at a time, I have a 50/50 chance of it working one or two songs at a time, it won't change from the updating songs do not disconnect message if it doesn't work.
Does anyone have any ideas? The song bit rates are anywhere from 128 to 320, but has no bearing on what will end up working and what will not. Thanks in advance

well, i just do it the way i always do. I check all the songs I want updated (which includes the ones that dont work) and hit the update all button. All songs will show up except the ones i got off my website. No message will appear saying it did'nt work or anything. I tried just adding the songs that dont work and still they dont show up in my ipod.
