Hi,
a related problem here with a pair of G.Skill 4GBPQ DDR2-1000. Can't get them to work at rated speed.
DDR2-667 works but 8xxMHz makes problems.
The E6320 runs @ max 2Ghz
MEM-Voltage is 2,1V
SPD-Settings are auto.
Bios: v1.6
PSU: Enermax Liberty 500W
Testing with memtest86+ v1.70
edit: tried uping vtt to 1,35V, mch = 1,425V ... seems to work, still testing

  • Any one ever posted on p35 platinum bios 1.3 with 1066 ram?

just wondering cause im outta options here.

i'm was testing P35 Neo2-FIR (nearly like Platinum) with 1066 memory (A-DATA, Kingston etc.) and it was w/o problems
well relatively because i needed to setup manually CAS etc. values (SPD autodetect seems to always set wrong CAS (6) etc))
with 1.4 it seems be bit better in autodetect area too

  • P45 Platinum won't POST with full memory banks

I have 4 identical 2GB DDR2-800 modules. If I install 2 the system runs fine. If I install 4 the system will not POST, hangs with the memory code. I am replacing an old P35 Platinum that had exactly the same problem (though I was using 1GB modules with that instead of these 2GB modules). 2 modules fine. It doesn't matter which 2. 4 modules bad. Won't POST. Is there some setting that prevents you from using both banks unless you change it?

They are PNY Optima. I am running them at the default timings (I think the default is for BIOS to handle it itself with SPD). I probably wasn't clear before but both modules are installed in the same bank (both in orange or both in green). I just can't fill more than one bank and get it to POST. These modules all work fine independently. There is some board/BIOS issue that is not allowing me to use both banks. I had the same exact problem with my P35 Platinum with different modules. I could run one pair, but not two pair.

  • Automator to sync with a memory Stick

i am looking to have a memory stick every time i plug it in to my mac, to automatically check with a folder on my hard drive and sync up any changes with the 1 folder (and subfolders) bi directionally (same stick and folder every time)
this is a mem stick that i take to work and sometimes modify files elsewhere as well as i modify the files on my computer.... sometimes there will be 1 file on the stick newer then 1 file on the computer and will beed to sync bi directionally. it would be nice if this was autmatic, but if it has to be a "triggered event" i can live with that too
    thank you in advance

Carbon Copy Cloner might do this for you (google it. free).
    1. Select the source. Deselect everything. Then select the one folder you want to backup.
    2. Select the Thumb as Destination.
    3. From the CCC Menu, select "Schedule Tasks..."
    4. From the "Run this task...." dropdown, select "when target is reconnected".
Now, it should kick on when you put in the thumb.

  • Synchronization with no network (swapping files with a memory stick)

I've been searching this forum and reading the docs for DbLite 10.2 and I have not seen this mentioned.
Is there any provision in the mobile server and mobile client to synchronize the DbLite database by swapping data via some physical media like a memory stick.
In a military application that we are involved with, we are being asked to provide for situations where DbLite will exist in locations with no network to connect to.
I'd appreciate if anyone can provide any info or documentation references on this point.
    Thanks

    Morgan,
There is a sample demo called Open Transport demo. It allows you to transfer data via a physical meduim, a floppy disk in this case. It comes as a part of Mobile Development Kit. I am on 10.2.0.2.0 at the moment. Please look at $OH\Mobile\Sdk\samples\Sync\win32\opentransport. I think this might be what you are looking for.
    Thanks.

  • Is there a problem with USB Memory Sticks and OSX?

This may not be the correct forum for this question but I don't know where else to ask!
I am having problems with a 64GB USB Memory Stick. Acrobat Reader can't read a pdf file on the memory stick but no problem from the hard drive. Acrobat Reader won't work from the memory stick. Music files (aif) won't play from the memory stick.
The memory stick came formatted for MS-DOS but I re-formatted it to MAC-OS Extended. I can write files to it but they don't seem to work from there. Is there some incompatability with OSX that I am not aware of? I would welcome some advice.

MAke sure the drive is inserted and mounted, then launch Terminal from /Applications/Utilities.  Type:
    mount
    and hit Enter.
One of the lines returned will contain the words, "/Volumes/<name of your flash drive>".  Copy that whole line and paste it here so we can see what's up.

  • P35 Platinum sits at post with Memory error.

Brand new rig, I put it all together, and on post it starts, does its reset after 3 seconds, (all LEDs red before it does the restart, in case thats wrong)
Then tries again, stopping at r-r-g-r, which the manual says is mem error.
I have tried only putting one stick in, and checked all the slots, i also tried the other stick.
No difference whatsoever. I have no video at all at any time, nothing has ever shown.
At the moment i have no other ram to check my ram against, So is there anything else it could be? The PSU seems to work flawlessly as
it's led system is showing correctly. And its not like theres any drain on it. I have reseated the cpu/hs and gfx twice now. No difference.
Any help would be appreciated, life really sucks without a good computer.

  • P35 Platinum front panel audio with Antec P180 case?

God I have a headache after reading all those "front panel audio" threads.  Why can't mb's all use the same freaking pinouts!!!!
The case doesn't have a HD front panel.
    MB pinouts are:
    1. Mic_L         (MIC Left Channel)
    2. GND
    3. MIC_R        (MIC Right Channel)
    4. PRESENCE#
    5. LINEout_R   (analog port right channel)
    6. MIC_JD       (MIC jack detect)
    7. Front_JD
    8. NC (empty)
    9. LINEout_L    (analog port left channel)
    10. LINEout_JD
Case Front Panel connector is a preconfigured block with pigtails hanging off in case it doesn't match up.
    1. MIC Signal
    2. MIC Power (MIC BIAS)
    3. Ground
    4. FPOUT-R (front right)
    5. FPOUT-L (front left)
    6. RET-R (rear right)
    7. RET-R (rear left)
glaring differences are the ground and the MIC connectors.
How do I connect these?  I don't want to fry anything.
    Thanks.

They do have the same pinouts. There are two standards is the reason for two different pinouts. It's just that your MB is Intel HD and your case is AC-97.
For Intel® High Definition Front Panel Audio
    Pin  Signal Name  Description

  • X48c User with Freezing Problem! Please Help!

    Hi Guys,
I just recently built my new pc with the new x48c platinum motherboard.
It worked fine for about....3 days, then it just started to freeze on me.   And its happening all the time! Mouse, keyboard, sound....everything just locks up! So i have to keep restarting. I try to play my games, but they all freeze after about 5 minutes of play. But the really annoying thing is, its happening while on the net, listening to music and so on as well.    I could cry out of frustration!
Anyway, Ive had to restart it so many times, ive had to replace the battery several times too. I get a cmos error constantly, but if i decide to go into bios and save anything, it restarts without screen, mouse or anything working. Just blank screen. So then i have to restart it manually and push the reset button at the back to get it going again...but then i get the cmos error again...it a vicious circle.     I can choose to not go into bios and skip everything, to use computer, but then, it just keeps freezing.
If anyone can help me it would be so appreciated hey.

Hey, Its a good set-up, just this damn motherboard is driving me nuts!
Only one way for me to boot it up, and thats by pressing the "on" button and simultaniously pressing the little "reset" button next to USB slots on the back panel. Its stupid, but its the only way to get it working for 5 minutes... lol
where do u find out the slb8v thingy? if its on the actual processor, i dont wanna pull it apart cos i go mega cpu fan attached...
Yea, im using this mobo my self also, but on Q9450
The SLB8V thingy is the S-SPEC, on MSI website, the CPU support list states it support Q9550 with the S-SPEC of SLAWQ
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1393&maincat_no=1
The S-SPEC thing can be found on the processor box itself. You can look at my thread, Jack the newbie posted the pics
I might flash the bios to the beta tmr

  • Users with NoClassDefFoundError & nested jars - PLEASE READ!!

A hell of a lot of the traffic on this forum is to do with getting a NoClassDefFoundError while trying to access classes that are inside a jar within your own jar.........please please please read this if you're having this problem, it will explain what's going on, and will save you from having to post the same question for the millionth time!!!
Unfortunately you can't embed jars within a jar and expect them to be referencable for the classpath from outside the main jar. The "Class-Path" attribute in the manifest is used to refer to other jar files outside of your jar file.
The usual approach to solve this problem is to unpack the jar files you want to embed and then rejar everything together in one big jar file again. This isn't always a great approach though, I know I'm looking for an alternative. So far my only alternative is dynamic class loading using a classloader, however this isn't great if you need to refer to several hundreds or even thousands of classes.

As I replied in another post (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=22&thread=416726&tstart=0&trange=100) I think Sun should really add this capability to the JVM itself. Perhaps a new file format, .aar (for Application Archive) that the JVM DOES read embeded .jar/.zip files from. Even if it is only one level deep, that would be extremely helpful. I have built a plugin engine and originally was packaging my plugins in .jar files. But if a plugin "wraps" a library like ant.jar or something, you are out of luck, the plugin has to be un-archived to the disk for it to work. We came up with a solution, which is a .par file (for plugin archive) that does embed everything, but the engine itself at runtime un-archives the .par file into a "working" directory behind the scenes. While this does work, the main problem is if you deploy an app with a lot of plugins it takes a while to un-archive everything before the app initially starts.
Our next step is to do what Carter says, build a custom jarjar classloader. That is, we'll extend URLClassLoader, and in the loadClass() call (for our plugin engine we break the normal go to parent loader first tradition) we'd have to "scan" a plugin .par file for any .jar files. If the .par file contains .jar files, we then retrieve those and scan them in memory for the class we are looking for.
As I explained there are no doubt several ways to make this fast. The classloader would want to keep a list of all packages found and in what .jar/.zip they were found in, so as more classes within the package of a given .jar are asked to be loaded, the engine knows exactly what .jar/.zip to jump to. Also, OS hd caching will most likely take affect somewhat thus if many classes from the same .jar file are required it is possible that .jar file would be cached and multiple i/o access will not take place.

That sort of thing is typical of incompatible modules. Turns out that unless you order your add-on memory from Toshiba or buy memory made by Kingston, you'll likely as not have that difficulty.

  • What is the difference between P35 Platinum and P35 Neo2 FIR?

What is the difference between P35 Platinum and P35 Neo2 FIR?
    P35 Platinum
    P35 Neo2 FIR
    BIOS is identical?

The P35 Neo2 is FIR is actually listed as P35 Neo2 FR/FIR. It is what you could call a "modular mainboard".  Even if it has the same PCB as the P35 Platinum mainboard, it doesn't necessarily mean, that it will always come with the same features.
If you look at the mainboard manual you will find that the ICH9R-Chipset and Firewire are mentioned as optional features. That means you will be able to purchase versions of this mainboard that will only have an ICH9 chipset and therefore won't support RAID or that don't have a firewire interface.
The abbreviation F,I and R have the following meaning:
    F...Gigabit LAN
    I... Firewire
    R...RAID
In case you decide to buy the P35 Neo2 mainboard, pay close attention to the feature list. Even if the board is listed as FIR by a specific dealer, make sure it really comes with firewire and an ICH9R-chipset. If someone decides to sell the board with the full name that appears on the MSI Support Site (FR/FIR) he might be actually trying to sell a P35 Neo2-F trying to get a better price.

  • P35 Platinum Problem

    Update:
Have not got standard memory yet so tried other options...
Replaced floppy drive with one that I verified was working, but no change so floppy drive is ok. Another possibility ruled out.
Reseated memory, floppy cable, graphics card multiple times, no result.
Changed FSB jumper to 333 setting, no result. Changes back to 200, result!!! Booted to bios config multiple times. Some times I got 4 red leds though, in which case the system stopped and rebooted. Then booted to bios again. I decided to try again to reflash the bios to 1.1 using ctrl-home keys. This time it worked. Verified bios is now v1.1.
Started getting cmos errors though. The bios gave me the option to reset to default values, when booting. I did this, and rebooted. The system stopped working again then, showing two green lights, two red. :(
I reset the FSB jumpers to 333, turn system on/off, switched back to 200. Again, I found I could now boot to bios again.
This is as far as I have got. Havenot been able to boot to OS yet. Any advice appreciated.
Starting to think this is not just a bios issue.... :(

    Gainward GeForce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3
    2 x Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 500GB

    Update:
Before my last post, I had previously flashed the bios back to the original bios which originally worked for me (1.1, the version which came with the machine, got it from the web site), but I ended up with the same problems. Last thing I did that night, was flash the bios to 1.4b... bios, but seeming same problems reproduced.
I was ready to return the motherboard on Saturday but curiosity got to me so I decided to follow Bosskillers advice and try out some other memory. Not that I doubted Bosskiller but this meant I had to bite the bullet and go buy some vanilla memory. Another 128 euros less in my pocket, after replacing my PSU also
Before installing the memory, i decided to try to again boot the PC (using bios 1.4b... beta) with the high perf memory. Didn't work the first couple of times, then it did! OS booted even, first time in a week. Occasionally  (30% of boots) I got the four red lights followed on the next boot by an error messages highlighted in red saying the previous overclocking settings prevented the machine from booting, did I want to keep current settings or reset them. In each case, I kept the setting and simply rebooted.
I then noticed I had not switch the FSB jumper to the 266 setting.  Not sure if this matters, as I though bios automatically detects / sets the correct FSB setting in any case. This seemed to improve matters a little.
I then changed the memory, and things improved further.  I am now able to boot most of the time, only seeing the 4 red lights when I cold boot the machine after it has not been used for a while (this happens 100% of the time). While running, it seems stable. If i do mess about a little, and constantly hit the reset or main power switch on/off every 10 secs, I will occasionally see the four red lights, or 1G1R2G so I avoid this
Will run the memtest tools you suggested. I am not convinced the high perf memory is bad yet. Will try out some more tests on it at a later date though. The cold boot issue sort of suggests a PSU issue to me but I am unsure. In any case, my Antec power PSU is not in yet  , but will install when I get it and hope it resolves the residual issues.
Much appreciate all the help from folk, especially Bosskiller. It has been interesting, I have learned quite a bit I believe.
