Your memory modules are recognized as DDR2-800 modules, because the SPD-Chips of these modules do not have an SPD-Profile for DDR2-1066 which the BIOS could detect to set memory clock speed to DDR2-1066. Your modules present themselves as DDR2-800 modules to the BIOS (because they are basically DDR2-800 modules). The BIOS can only read SPD profiles, not what Corsair has actually printed onto sticker that is on each module.

4gb DDR2 1066 (not sure if it infact does run at this)
If you check the official Corsair datasheet for your modules, you will see that it will say that these modules were tested @1066 MHz @2.1-2.2V, not that they are DDR2-1066 modules. At the bottom of the datesheet you will find a brief note telling you that the actual OC results "may vary". I am not sure which memory related settings you have tried so far. If you need advice and suggestions regarding memory settings, please let us know the precise model name/number of your modules and tell us which settings you have tried so far.

P45 Platinum - Overclocking Core2 Duo & Ram
Hi all,
I recently got a P45 Platinum. Have had alot of bother with it todate. It started off when it recognised my memory at 800Mhz when infact it was 1066 DDR2 Dominator. Bios update version 1.1 looked like I could set it too 1066 on auto but it still recognised it as 800mhz. However Bios update 1.1 would not boot with my Nvidia GX2. Cured that got the beta 1.2b and all works well.
However I am running 3dMarks06 and the max I pushed out of my system was 15000 :-( . Was kind of hoping for bit more, still very laggy in crysis at times.
I am thinking about pushing a little more outta my CPU but if i fiddle with the CPU FSB currently default 333 it does not boot right and resets to be done. I have set the voltage to 1.3 and ram 2.0.
Any thoughts on this issue.

P45 Platinum - overclocking 4870 X2
Ok so iam back again with another problem, it seems that overclocking a 4870 X2 is very hard ATM, Everything i tried to OC my 4870 X2 won't work, i tried almost anything ( ATI Overdrive, Rivatuner, ATI Tool Etc. ) but it won't work properly ( Many Artifacts ) and it won't run stable, the Temps stay good since iam using my GPU Fan for atleast 40%.
Any Ideas for this ?
Thanks for your time and wisdomSystem Specs:
P45 Platinum
Q9550 @ 3.41 GHZ + Zalman 8700 LED
Corsair Dominator 1066 MHZ 2 x 2 GB
Powercolor HD 4870X2
640 GB Samsung Spinpoint
Zealous 650 watt modulair
Recom Powerstation case
Ok.. the core clock is 750 MHZ and the memory @ 900 MHz.. i don't think its a power problem, more of a heat and Volt problem.. i tried some stuff already, making my fan run faster will give me less artifacts for some reason when its OCed a bit..
The temps are good.. IDLE its 40 -50 degrees and under load its around 80 - 100 degrees depending on what game iam playing ( Crysis for instance is around 100 degrees. )
Under 3Dmark06 around 85 degrees.. maybe Vantage will pull it up to 100 degrees, still need to test that today.
I am using the latest 8.12 drivers + catalyst center, so that should not be the problem i guess ?
ow.. and BTW my score in 3Dmark06 is just over 16000, maybe its some usefull info. -

Can you help me please?Quote from: Jack t.N. on 04-September-09, 20:13:52
I hereby officially refuse to tell you that because your question clearly shows that you have not taken the time to look into the mainboard's user manual which not only shows where the jumpers are located but also what you can do with them.
I can understand for that all. It is same like me when to tried help another people ask a question for that things but sometimes you can not explained with words. Instead you get bashing with short explained like that
(you know exactly what i meant...lol)

i have no mainboard's user manual taken, iám going to shop back asking for the manual.
but i think the jumpers are these
Right!! that is location of the jumpers, short the jumpers in strap potition what you need and dont forget to give this shot before do that:
1. Disconnected PSU from A/C power
2. Put your OC jumpers potition what you need (ex, 266-333 or 333-400)
3. Push button Clear CMOS at back your case
Hope this can help.

hey,
I noticed this in your sig...."Custom liquid cooling driven by Apogee Drive Block/Pump, Coolit System CPU Eliminator Mod/Tecs and pump, TT T2MG Radiator"
I have a coolit eliminator that I plan on ripping apart fairly soon....from reading your sig and looking at your avatar it seems you have almost an identical cooling setup to what I'm about to do
few questions I have for ya:
-what pump are you using?
-what kind of temps do you get with it?
-do you have some more pictures?
-my eliminator is still installed on my current system(squeals like a pig all day long tho) so I haven't had a chance to really examine it closely,Do they come apart fairly easy and will I need any rare screwdrivers or tools? (eg.like Nintendo Wiis tri-wing screws)
I'm thinkin of getting another eliminator (my friend has 1 w/ a broken pump he might sell me real cheap) and plumbing them both together than adding a rad and reservoir with a more powerful pump.
nice system
edit:I don't mean to hijack your thread (I thought I PMed this lol)...pm me back if ya prefer
Thanks for not wanting to even though did Jack me just the same .
Please respond only to the with overclocking suggestions if you don't have a MSI P45 Diamond and if you do please share your settings in the afore mentioned format.
youeffsee, I would be more than glad to share info and pic's. Please pm me because I don't appear to have those privileges yet or too unfamiliar with site and haven't fiqured out how to. -
MOVED: P45 Platinum MS-7512 won't post after shutdown without cmos reset
This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=124663.0As you may have seen on my own post, I also ran into lock ups on the memory side with the same board and OCZ 1066 memory. Turns out that the memory is actually factory "overclocked" DDR2-667. Anyhow, my P45 is stable now, running a Q9550 E0 stepping at 3,4Ghz. Ran Prime 95 for approx 4 hours and my CPU core temp reaches 60 deg C with the individual cores between 45 and 55 deg. I installed a Freezer 7 Pro cooler right from the start and it is very effective and very quiet in general use.
I have a question though to DougKmcse. You say your Dominators posted straight away at 1066. Have you checked in CPU-Z SPD what the reported maximum bandwidth is? I would be interested to know as I want to replace the memory I have with something that will give me true 1066 without problems on the board. Secondly, I am on BIOS v1.5. Did you flash to a beta BIOS, and have you had any issues since? Appreciate any feedback.
As a matter of interest, I see that the 3,4GHz barrier on the Q9550 is mentioned here as well.I have experienced the same. I can run my system stable up to 400MHz and after that instability. Tried 420 and got a solid lock. Then I read a post somewhere else where it was mentioned that one should not try between 400 and 470, but beyond that it seems to be OK again up to about 500MHz. Well, I tried that, 500MHz with a 7 multiplier. And what do you know, the system actually booted, but then my "Fake" 1066 memory wasn't up to it. I am also too inexperienced to want to attempt to change voltages on the board, barring VRAM. So perhaps if your memory is up to it, you may want to try that to get beyong the 3,4 GHz barrier. -

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=118515.0It stabilizes the power for the PCIe slots(benifit for graphics cards---mainly ones without their own power connectors). If you are fine, then you're probably okay with not adding it, but, it can't hurt having it connected and gives an extra layer of stability.

Hello!
Please say what PSU you got, and what it can do on the +12V.
You ask a good question, but I was thinking one of the sticks is not recognised for some reason. That would leave 2048 kB + 512 kB = 2560 kB. As for the OS part that is pretty close.
So make sure both sticks are in good order and seated well, by testing them one at a time. Make sure the memory has the recommended voltage, as by the manufacturer.
I have an Enermax Noisetaker II 480W with Dual Rail +12V SLi/Crossfire PSU

Turn on memory hole or memory remapping if you have one of those in the bios.
I've looked everywhere on the motherboard for such a function and there doesn't seem to be one. I tried using the overclocking feature once, and it just jams itself on the first try (boot/reboot forever). Maybe something wrong with the MB? -

you have got the right number of stand offs in the right places
Yes, that is correct. The board powers up now but apparently, per the manual, the code it's giving me (LED groups 1-4 all red) is that my CPU is damaged or installed incorrectly. I'm really hoping this isn't the case but I guess I'll have to look into it when I get home... luckily I have a spare mobo/CPU I can use for testing.
Anyone know any other reason to get that error? Hopefully not involving a damaged CPU? -

There is nothing like: Safely remove hardware etc...
I don't think there should be such an option for SATA devices (?).
But you might want to try USB Safely Remove which claims to make it available anyway.
They just released version 4.0 last week (and gave away free 1-year licenses to celebrate that). -

I'm fully aware of the difference on EIST and C1E.
Quote
The issue I had with EIST was that I had to clear CMOS in order to actually get it disabled (just booting to BIOS and setting it to disabled changed nothing what so ever).
If EIST is disabled and C1E is enabled, the multiplier is still reduced when the system is IDLE. You did not say anything about C1E in your first post and even in you reply you have not told us if you made sure if C1E was disabled as well. As I said before, since in effect, C1E does the same thing as EIST (multiplier and VCore adjustment), even if EIST was disabled, you probably thought it was still working, but what you saw working was not EIST but C1E. Clearing CMOS did not solve an "EIST-is-still-working-even-though-it-is-disabled-problem", but actually only forced C1E to be set to disabled by default. The bottom line is, there never was a problem in the first place.
Quote
Bottom line: The BIOS allows for adjustment of the Vcore, only it does not seem to be happening. The simple question is: why?
What have I missed?
What you are decribing is a know problem with BIOS v1.4. It was fixed right after it became obvious. All newer BETA BIOS Releases do not have this problem (1.5b1-1.5b6). -

I have an older Intel Mac Mini running fully updated Snow Leopard with an upgraded CPU (Core2 Duo), RAM (2GB), and hard drive.
Supposedly, this should be compatible with Lion, but the App Store refuses to download it.
Any ideas?
Thanks. It's not the graphics card it is the fact that it is an "upgraded"
system. Lion, as with any OSX install, is based on the
original computer ID. If the ID indicated that it was not
a model that was shipped with a CPU that meets the minimum
requirements it will not install.
The reason I say it is not the graphics card, is that my
Macbook has that card and Lion installed without issue. It
was, however, equipped with a Core2Duo processor. -
