Change the VCore voltage with + and - keys by number pad. If you set it to a value like 0.125, you add 0.125 to stock voltage of chip.

Right now, I am using the stock Intel CPu cooler but I don't think temperature is a problem though cause at 2.45Ghz, its running stable at 35C. The Antec 900 case also does a very good job of cooling the system down. And its not a stability issue either (yet) cause my problem is that the system won't even boot when I set the FSB to 1600 (400x7=2.8Ghz) so it does not even have time to heat up as well.  Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I will try fiddling with the NB voltage to see it would help.  I have read in one of the reviews for this MB in Newegg.com that he was able to OC his brd with the same CPU to 440x7 but unfortunately, he did not give details on how its done and since its not a forum, I have no way of contacting that person. Anyway, I will try your advice and see if there would be an improvement.

To overclock my cpu from 8*266 to 8*333 i just change the cpu voltage from 0.0000 to 0.10000, with cpu voltage to 0.000 my computer don't start
To understand why when i resume to suspend to ram my computer freeze i try this.
No overclocking but just cpu voltage 0.100000
    I start windows and read the vcore with cpu-z ( 1.325 + 0.1 V )
    suspend to ram
    resume
    read cpu-z ( 1.325 + 0.0 V )

  • P6N won't overclock

I am feeling totally stupid here, but I cannot overclock this board even a little bit.
I've tried setting the FSB speed froim 1333 to 1340, and it boots fine, but then hangs with a loud noise from the sound card.  There is also no way to adjust the CPU voltage in the 1.5 BIOS.  It displays 0.0000.
    What is going on here?
I have loaded the latest nForce 650 SLI drivers from nVidia, All nTune will do is increase the the PCI-E bandwidth, and not touch the memory or CPU speed settings.  System runs fine otherwise.
Should I ditch the Creative Audigy sound card?  Does that play in a OC situation?
    thanks

Right.  Not enough power then? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028
This is extremely vague.  This could indicate you want to purchase a new PSU, or it's the one you had.  I chose the former as your answer was, guess what?  Vague.

YOU experienced 1-2fps increase but the first person to respond to this thread linked the settings for a 10% increase in fps.........
Two games, I believe.  Dirt 2 and Far Cry 2.  I can assure you I tested far more than two games.
    I'll quote my reply:

It was 1-2 FPS in most games at best, and I clocked the sucker to 980 MHz core.  Can't remember for the memory.  Not sure if it was down to earlier drivers (the card had just came out), but I did not see 10%.

Did you even read anything in this thread or are you just bouncing around blurting out comments at random??
I obviously can't read every word thoroughly, as I try to reply to a lot of threads.
I'll give you a big hint why you can't get it to work; you're doing it wrong.  Or, your card simply won't overclock that high.

It has been tested and no problem to pass 1200Mhz barrier....
    Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 and corsair 800MHZ memory. OC to 1333MHZ.
    memory used in a test:
    the first group:Geil 1G 800MHZ
    the second group:HyNIX 1G 800MHZ
    the third group:Corsar 1G 800MHZ
    the forth group:XTreem 1G 800MHZ
    the fifth group:Vitesta 1G 800MHZ
If you experience the problem suggest you try with different memory brand/type.
And what stepping/revision Q6600 was this test done with?   I've tried with Geil 800mhz rated sticks and Corsair 800mhz sticks in addition to my own personal Buffalo 800mhz sticks and it's all the same.  At exactly 1200mhz it's like someone flipped a switch and the board won't POST.   The ONLY way I've found to get it to POST past 1200mhz is to increase the VTT to 16% which is a bit worrysome...   and with the 1.1 BIOS absolutely no increase in VTT is needed with the same setup.   Keep in mind this has been tried with not only my own personal P6N Platinum, but also with two different P6N SLI FI boards I've got here in the shop.   Heck I even ordered a brand new one just to test to see if the problem was based on a particular hardware revision.
    Very puzzling...   ??? ???

Oh no, they are not, as you can OC the GPU and the BCLK if you so wish.
First peruse the facts before making wild comments that are untruthful. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4830/intels-ivy-bridge-architecture-exposed
It does help to gather technical facts before purchasing HW that one expects to support the intended outcome.
No H67 board out there supports "K" edition CPU multiplier overclocking. Sorry mate. Cry on Intel's shoulder.
Never buy a Yaris and then tell the manufacturer that he forgot to give you the Lexus luxuries.
OK, just gotten the box of the mainboard, let me qoute from the box:
OC Genie is an auto-overclocking technology for any type of user. Just enable the OC Genie function and the CPU memory, and iGPU will be automatically increased for top performance!
    Benefits:
Auto detect and overclock CPU, memory, and iGPU in 1 second
Unlock CPU Ratio and overclock to 4.2GHz
    Unleashed 36% iGPU increase
Tell me how this is not a lie, overclock to 4.2 GHz...

It's common to suggest to upgrade BIOS. I recommend not to unless it is essential, and reading the comments on manufacturer site do no harm either.
There are two ways to OC SandyBridge and above CPUs, one is change the clock, and the other is change Turbo settings, so lets try that way.
Load optimized defaults, change vcore as before then set all cores boost ratio (in CPU Features) to 42 (Turbo must be enabled). On my board is enough if I set 4 cores to 42 but would be safer to begin with all of them at 42.
Try with OverSpeed Protection disabled, or enabled and power limits 130 for short and 120 for long.
My CPU runs 4 threads of Prime95 (v28.5 AVX) at about 100W at 4.2GHz. So maybe for testing only, disable hyper-threading.
Another thing may be insufficient vcore maybe? Not sure what safe vcore is for 2600k, so look it up before increasing.
Ok, I tried this all and still got the same results. I enabled Turbo, then changed all the values that you suggested with the ratio at 42 and vcore at 1.3. When running 8 test threads in prime95 I still only get up to 3.9. I tried again, enabling enhanced turbo, but it didn't change anything. The only thing that I did not try was disabling overspeed protection, and I'll try that now, but if it doesn't, what is going on?

Brinbane,,my e6750 runs all day at 3600mhz.  However, I have learned from experience that every CPU is different, I had a 630 that overclocked better than a 670 CPU...it's a crap shoot at best.   Also, just wondering if Vista is less tolerant than WinXP for overclocking?  I have CPU-Zd to 3800, but it's not stable due to my budget memory.  The 680 boards have always been decent overclockers, but an Intel board will almost always reach higher bus speeds than a Nvidia board....but, we do have SLI..!!     If Intel ever comes out with the Skulltrail board, I'd buy it..two processors (ala server board) and Nvidia 100 chipsets for SLI..woohoo.!!

Disabled: Limit CPUID Maximum, Power Technology, C1E Support, Overspeed Protection, Spread Spectrum
     Also Turbo enabled.

Interestingly enough, after reading your post, I did some checking with mine. I have the core voltage bumped up to 1.237 in afterburner (note: it rounds the voltage to the nearest 3/10 of a volt I think) and the clock at 1150 for testing, down from 1200 where it's been for a couple of months due to recent crashes in BL2.
Both GPU-Z and HWiNFO64 show 0.825v at idle and 1.219v under load! Afterburner, however, shows 1.3v using it's in system tray monitoring tool.
So now I don't know what to believe. It seems as if it's not changing for me as well.
Tomorrow I'm going to hook up the leads and check it with my VOM so I can see for myself.
