I can check these timings using AMD Overdrive 3.02 (AOD).  Performance control lets you play with lots of features in memory timing that are not in the BIOS.  I used it to tighten up on memory timings get memory benchmark >2900 consistently with AOD's benchmarking utility.  I did this at stock settings.
And the problem is there is a bug in the bios.  Least I think it is a bug.  The only time you get EPP limits on the values you can choose in the memory timings configuration screen of the bios is if you set the memory multiplier to 2.66:1, with or without EPP enabled.  Otherwise it puts JDAC 400(DRR2 800) limits on the values.  I want to have the freedom to set my timings to EPP 533 limits(DDR2 1066) when I am using a memory multiplier less than 2.66:1, like 2:1 or 1.66:1, so I don't have to up the voltage to much to get a solid stability test.  I can get a good stability test with the DRAM Voltage set to 2.2, and memory is cheap enough I just might see how long they last like that, but I really want this bug in the bios fixed.  I am sure it is in all of the MSI boards that use ATI 790GX chips.
I have been trying to figure out is enabling EPP does anything except lock you into the EPP timings when you are at 2.66:1.  With EPP set to enabled I should be able to set my timings to CL=5, tRTC=5, tRP=5, tRAS=12-18, tRC=25-31, tWTR=3-5, tWR=8.  Having the freedom to set these to EPP limits at any memory multiplier is crucial to successful overclocking on the nb/ht reference clock.  How can we get MSI to make this a part of the next bios update?  Without this correction, I am limited to tRC=26, tWR=6, tWTR=3, these are the JDAC limits not the EPP limits.  We should see EPP limits if it is enabled.  Least that's what it says in the nearly not informative help side panel.

I have the same problem with XFX HD5770 XT 1 GB on my P965 Platinum mainboard. I have tried 1.8 bios and 1.93b with no result.
I have contacted the support and hope for a new bios update. That must be the problem ?

    Dear Daniel Granér,
Thanks for contacting msi technical support team! Regarding your issue, this mainboard doesn't support ATI 5770 card. So please change other VGA card to use.

  • MSI P6N Platinum OEM, BIOS update needed

Hi, I got an p6n platinum oem board, which looks different to the original board by msi. There are no heatpipes inside and the e-sata is missing and it looks like the p6n sli (without platinum). The BIOS ID: MSI P6N SLI Platinum A7350NM7 V1.08 110107.
Where can I get the BIOS update/is it possible to flash with original msi BIOS update?

We can not offer support for OEM products. Support is only available for MSI Retail products.
Remember, there may be slight design differences between the OEM version and the retail version. The retail bios may brick or distabilize the OEM version.

  • P965 Neo 7325 BIOS update issue

Hello, I'm having a problem updating my bios. I recently upgraded to win 7 64bit home premium and installed 4gb of ram 2x2g corsair xms ddr2 along with the 2x512mb of corsair xms2 ddr2 memory that was already in the pc. My problem started that the bios doesnt recognize all 5gb it on shows 3.25gb. I've tried a few different approaches to the situation nothing has worked. this is how i have the memory seated in the dimm slots cpu> 2gb|512mb|2gb|512mb. I tried to clear cmos still nothing, unchecked the max memory setting in system config. I've tried just using the 4gb and still reads 3.25. So i downloaded the most recent BIOS update tried to update and i get the error saying its not compatible with the version in windows i'm using....Im at a loss and do not know what else to do..any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • No LAN on 915p neo2 platinum after bios update.

I have updated my MB bios from 3.3 to 3.6, after that the onboard lan has disappeared from the system. it is enabled on bios setup. I flashed back version 3.3 with no results. I've read there where similar problems with the sound card, and it was solved with the previous drivers, but it didn't work in this case.
someone has had the same problem?

i'm sure it's enabled. I also disabled it and the audio, enabled the lan and disabled   the audio adapter, afterwards i enabled both...
in all the cases the lan adapter didn't apear in the device manager...
i don't know what else to do...
did it hapen to someone else?
i searched in the forum and all that i found was the problem with the audio... but i have re-installed all the drivers, even i have re-installed windowsXP whith no results.
may the mac be erased whit the bios update?
than you all for your answers.

I dont' know what people say but one thing is clear: MSI 965 Platinum is JUNK!!
The only cpu which could be clocked is p4 3Ghz. I've clocked it to 3800, bios ver 1.4
with bios 1.5 1.6 system reset at 3500.  1.7 was ok again.
Next cpu E2140 cloked from 1600 to 2144+corecell=>2270. note that sistem won't boot if fsb higher than 268 in bios (ver 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8) but could be clocked if DOT activated.
Next cpu E6750 clocked from 2.66 to 2.98  FSB 366. with fsb higher than 370 sistem reset, also with DOT i see higher instability.
OT: i read on this forum that MSI told us that this board is for gamers/not overcloking ))))
well then, why the F*** put PLATINUM? it's the same S*** like NEO but 60E more..for what?
So my friends, i ordered an ASUS(i don't like brand but i like quality), i'm sad 'cause i've used MSI since 815E but now even P35 Platinum with rev1.1 is not more than a BULK, JUNK (look how poor clocking is).

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I have tried to clear the cmos with no effect.
Still the board boot with the 512mb pc4200 memory-module (I have no specs the this, sorry)
    This is the pc:
Motherboard: 975X PowerUp Edition (with default settings in bios)
CPU: Intel Dual 2 Core E6600
Memory: OCZ 2x OCZ Gold XTC pc2-6400 1024mb timings: 5-5-5-12
    Power-suppy: 550W 3.3V-35A... 5V-40A... 12V-16A...

    Video: Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 7800GT

    That's your ram ?
    Clearly says 1.95 - 2.1Volts ; Standard ddr2 voltage is 1.8 volts - not enough
Put VDimm to 2 Volts in bios...

Please read this topic. It's a bunch of info, but it will tell you a lot about this board. Your DRAM is not the issue at hand, BIOS 1.2 is. Flash 1.51 beta to overclock stable. CAS Latency 4 is not an option in the current BIOS versions, it gets set to 3. So for the time being it's either CAS 5 or CAS 3.
