could you tell me what settings you use for fan?
Best to make a custom fan curve. The way I do this, is set fan at minimum speed and run benchmark without increasing fan speed. Once card exceeds e.g. 75*C, I increase the fan speed a little bit until the card will get down to this temp. Then set fan curve. At last you want 100% fans speed if card exceeds some critical temps like 95*C. I am on Nvidia card so you have to find safe temps yourself, as AMD's love to be much hotter.

Getting weird screen flickering when on my desktop or watching movies. I heard a vbios update can help this.

Then try removing current driver in safemode using >>Driver Fusion<<. After reboot install latest driver: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064#amd-catalyst-packages

  • Bios update request (R9 280X)- Also, How do I flash my BOIS?

    S/N: 602-V277-19SB130904****
Also, What tool do I use to update the BIOS? Never done this with a video card.
My current BIOS version is 015.039.000.001.003331 (113-C3865000-G77)

    There you go: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=173931.0;attach=12208
Eventually that is not even needed. It should be possible to switch between two versions with a hardware switch on your card and one should be GOP compliant. Thus no flashing would be needed.
If flashing is needed use attached ATI Winflash.
If you are just wanting to update to have an update leave it alone. vbios updates are just necessary to fix issues or add features (like GOP). If all is running fine don't touch the vbios.

  • R9 280x TF GAMING: Sporadic black screen on boot and system resume

AMD Catalyst Omega Driver: 14.501.1003.0 WHQL (latest non-beta driver)
When booting my computer in UEFI mode, occasionally, my monitor does not wake from sleep and the screen remains black until Windows takes over and the login screen displays. This seems to usually occur after the computer has been powered off for more than 10 minutes. Sometimes this never happens, the screen remains black the whole time, and I need to hard reset. Sometimes it boots fine.
This black screen / no signal issue also occurs far more frequently when attempting to resume from sleep. I strike a key on the keyboard or hit the power button while the computer is in sleep mode, the computer wakes up, but the monitor never turns on. This forces me to either hard shutdown or reset in order to restore graphics.
In addition, I have a Razer keyboard that shuts off its backlight when the display is turned off, and it remains off when this problem occurs. This likely means that there is a problem with the card, drivers, or something else, rather than cabling. I might just RMA if we don't get anywhere here.
Perhaps a good first step would be ensuring that my card is flashed with the latest vBIOS. Can you send a link to that?
I'm also wondering if ULPS might be interfering, even though I am not in a CrossFireX setup.
Other than this MAJOR issue, the card works fine when playing 3D games. Though, I had major issues with video artifacts when playing 2D games or doing anything else simple (web browsing, moving windows) because of the absolutely terrible decision to underclock the past couple generations of AMD cards so much that the GPU can't function. I solved this by modifying an OverDrive profile to raise the idle clock to 850 MHz, but not overclocking at all.
    Thank you.
Meta discussion for the mods (feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this further, in order to keep the discussion here on topic): sorry for not immediately opening up another forum topic when commenting on this issue. Every single other community that I've been a part of prefers to keep users with the same problem on the same thread. In my experience, mods yell at people for opening up duplicate bug reports and duplicate issues far more than they ask people to fragment information across multiple threads, therefore making it difficult to consolidate information.

It could be a mobo issue, but all of the quirks seem to point to the card.
I do not recall if I tested the card in another PC, but I no longer have a second desktop to test with.
I do think I tested an NVIDIA card on a separate Windows install with this build though. No issues there if my memory serves correctly. I've been troubleshooting this issue for months, and I'm becoming tired of this stubborn problem, so the attempts at problem-solving are becoming blurred.
    vBIOS is attached.

First of all don't hijack other topics next time please. The one you posted in was not related to your question about the fan issue but the normal fans off feature below 60°C. Your thread has been split off.
The issue is fixed in later batches and everyone with a card affected by the issue with one fan not starting at all had been adviced to rma the card as there is no fix for existing cards. The Fans Randomly Turning On issue has been fixed with a vbios update.
The thread you meant by the way has been continued in another topic.

  • MSI GTX 750 ti Gaming vBios

I was reading a review for this card on techpowerup and it shows the card comes with dual vbios, one uefi (GOP?) and one legacy. Is this unique to the new Maxwell cards? I see people here requesting vbios updates for other kepler based 700 series and below. Will upgrading the vbios no longer be necessary for this card (assuming Win8 features the main reason for GOP vbios requests) ?
    Can anyone confirm?
    Thanks!!!!!
PS: I am in the process of building a new rig from scratch. Because of the apparent great support here in the forums, I am developing a MSI brand loyalty for motherboards and graphics cards. I have only seen similar support from EVGA (but they are limited Nvidia) and MSI. Also TwinFrozr gets a lot of praise. Lastly, the card mentioned above has been reviewed as the best of the crop for the 750 ti chip. I have been a ATI/AMD Radeon guy for a long long time due to their price/performance combined with power/heat/performance , but this maxwell card looks very interesting.

I hope you are right about the dual VBIOS on an nVidia GTX. That has been one of my biggest bitches ever since this stupidity came out of no support out-of-the-box for both. Maybe nVidia came to their senses? Worth researching. At least my faith may possibly be restored with nVidia.
I don't think this is Nvidia but MSI adding the new bios. At least, according to TechpowerUp.  techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_750_Ti_Gaming/5.html

  • MSI R9 280X 3G Gaming artifacts and freezes

I just bought a 2 month old MSI R9 280X 3G Gaming card. After I installed the card my PC didn't POST, so I went into the bios and resetted everything to default. Then again my computer didn't POST. I checked the bios switch on the graphics card, it was set on position 2, I switched it to position 1 and my computer booted into Windows. I installed the catalyst drivers and started to play some games. It went quite bad, I had artifacts, game crashes and overall bad performance.
I read out the bios version on switch position 1 (the one that does work), this is ver. 015.040.000.000.003435. I flashed the bad bios version on switch 2 which was version 015.040.000.003.003435 with 015.040.000.000.003435.
After the flash I was able to boot windows on switch 2. Still I do have performance issues with games, like artifacts and game crashes.
    My S/N is 602-V277-38SB1312093272.
Can you guys help me out with this?
    Thanks in advance!

Alright, I tried to flash my bios to E7681.430 with the USB DOS tool available on this forum. After my computer booted the USB stick, I was prompted to do a memtest. It hanged, so I wasn't be able to memtest before flashing.
I download the last version of memtest86+ 5.01 and tried to memtest test 5 and 7 for 20 loops, it passed with 0 errors, so it seems my system is stable. Then I copied your provided BIOS to my USB stick and tried to flash it with M-flash in my current BIOS. M-flash wasn't able to recognize this file, so I won't be able to flash it.
So with not be able to pass memtest (only my own downloaded memtest86+ v5.01) from the MSI Bios Flash Dos tool and not be able to flash a new bios with M-flash. I'm not sure what to do next, I won't try the Windows flash option, because of this https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=177335.0  topic.
On the other hand I looks like I need to update to version 4.3 for me being able to use the r9 280x card.
Can you give me any advice about what steps to take next? Thanks in advance.

  • Driver Crashing Issues (R9 280x 3G Gaming)

I am having a problem with my new R9 280x 3G Gaming. I know the drivers are buggy, but I'm not quite sure what the issue is. Sometimes the card is stable, I can run Furmark on it and game and everything seems fine. Then on reboot I will have issues with the driver crashing, sometimes right on boot when the desktop loads. I have tried the drivers supplied on the MSI site as well as the newest 3.11beta9.5 from AMD, both seem to act the same.
I'm not sure if its a bad card or just driver issues. Anyone experience anything similar?

The first driver I installed on it was the 13.11 Beta 9.5 driver from AMD. That had crashing issues, so I uninstalled and installed the driver from MSI. The issue continued. I have now ran driver sweeper and reinstalled the 13.11 Beta 9.5 and it has been stable for the last day or so.
    Current vBIOS is: 015.040.000.000.003435 (113-C3865000-G77)
The 6870 from my old machine seemed to work fine in this unit, though I did not do too much testing with it.
    I am using a Thermaltake TR2 850W PSU.

  • Can not update request in data target

    Hi,
We have a process chain for master data (10 parallel) loads.  One of the load
failed with error "can not update request REQU_46xxxxxxxxxxxxxx in data target".
    When I checked the InfoPackage
    (a) update: full load
    (b) it has data selection

    (d) Data targets: update in all data targets for which active rules exist.
But I do not see any list of data targets here.
Can some one please suggest me how do I correct this load failure.

  • One or more of the updates requested by Final Cut Server could not be...

We are getting the warning " One or more of the updates requested by Final Cut Server could not be applied. (one or more replacement file(s) had unexpected track settings.)" when a FCPv6.06 (possibly also FCPv7.0) project file is checked-out of Final Cut Server v1.5.1. The assets linked to the project are cached down successfully (this in not an XSAN environment) but opening the project alerts to some offline media files (not all) and we need to manually relink them to the assets in the Final Cut Server cache. All is good again until the project file is checked-out of FCSvr to another workstation.
Having a look at the path of the offline files it is referencing the path of the assets as they were on the previous editor's (different) workstation. None of our workstations have the same path to the Final Cut Server cache.
My understanding and experience is that FCSvr manages the paths for FCP linked assets and modifies the checked-out file's path to point to the workstation's FCSvr cache?
Can you tell me how I can resolve this issue?

I may have resolved this issue today or I'm at a stage where I can't replicate it. The problem may have been propagating from a within a template FCP project file we use to start our productions. I assume it was a corruption of the FCP file that FCSvr didn't recognise?
