Moved to Mac computer, where is network map?

Hello,
We switched to a Mac computer, using the same router Linksys WRT110.  Connecting and using the router was a snap, and I can get into the router fine to see the configurations and all that.   But you know the neat graphic thing(network map) where you can see all your devices in your network and manage them?  Where is that?  Is it not available on Mac computers, or do I need to install something again with the disc?  Because I cannot find it on this computer.  Thank you.

I believe you are referring to Network Magic. It is a software that I believe came with your router software (which you can check on the setup CD that came with it). I do not think you can install it on your Mac now since the software reached its end of sale last year, August 31, 2012. It means also that there will be no updates whatsoever.

  • Removed a connection from network map, can not find again

I removed a home computer from the network map, intending to block access. While I did achieve that, I am now trying to remove the block and allow the computer to reconnect. There seems to be no way possible to do this. Everywhere I search has told me to simply remove the intruder status from the network map, but the computer I'm trying to unblock does not show up on the map whatsoever. I've reinstalled my router, and that affected nothing. Is there another way to completely revert the router to factory default? Or is there some piece in the software that could fix this that I am not seeing? The computer's OS is Vista-32bit (that can not connect).
    Thanks for your help,
    Steve.

    Hi Steve,
Make sure that the Network Lock is off in Network Magic.
thecreator - Running Network Magic version -5.5..9195.0-Pure0 on Windows XP Home Edition SP 3

  • What is the best product for network mapping and monitoring? I am an inexperienced user). Mac 10.9.2 laptop

I have lots of questions, but the gist is that I want to know the best product, preferably from the app store, that I can use for network mapping mapping and monitoring.
I want to get their mac address or other police trackable etc info so I can use my computer safely.
    I am also being cyberbullied.
I try just using ethernet but still get intruded on, for instance, messages that "other devices are using my ip address". The only other device I own is an iPod that I keep sahut off plus wifi turned off then.
(NOTE:  You can skip the rest of this message if you want. It regards hacking attempts etc,  a little out of the scope of discussion, perhaps).
Also a home intrusion where computer was thoroughly hacked with router(s) set up "very very close to me," according to Apple.
Also, hackers get into my Facebook and gmail and yahoo mail, really,  no matter what I try to do on my computer and how many times I change passwords it does no good.
Also,  The ip addresses for google and the one in syste preferences and the one looking up my ip address on ip chicken always gets three different results.
More worrisome it that hackers got into my Wells Fargo account a week after the intrusion even though I changed all account #'s and pw plus notified bank. They also broke into paypal using my new account numbers.
Also, stuff like Facetime pops up on my computer without my clicking on it even though I'm using ethernet to connect. I've given up on Time Capsule because I'm told that's how the hackers hacked my computer so thoroughly duriung the intrusion.
    Thanks.

    Aubry,
why don't you send your sequences straight to Compressor first, encode your movies as MPEG 2 and AC3 audio and import all assets in DVD studio PRO?

+You may have already done this, but do you have the first AirPort Express configured to "Allow this network to be extended"?+
Could not find that setting anywhere.
It's in AirPort Utility, AirPort panel, Wireless tab.
When I'm within the range of the base station I connect normally, but further away the connection drops despite the fact that the other Airport is very close and light is green. Interestingly, my PB Pro has signal almost everywhere in the house, but my iPhone and Mac Mini don't. Most likely just a hardware difference?
In AirPort Utility with the second Express, in the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, have you checked "Allow wireless clients"?
The second AP does show an IP address: 10.0.1.3.
With a "Configure IPv4" setting of "Using DHCP", that suggests that the second Express really is connecting to the first Express. In that case I have no other explanation of your your problem.

  • Double computer name on network and NAT issue with Back to My Mac

These are the problems I am having:
When my MacPro workstation (which on the network is named "The Beast") wakes from sleep - I get a message saying "there is already a computer on the network with the name "The Beast". Other computers on the network can now find you at "The Beast-2"" and it gives me a new name in the file sharing preferences - even though it is the only computer on the network with that name.
    Why is this happening???
The other problem is with BackTo My Mac - When I try to enable it - I get an error message saying "Turn off NAT Addressing" - which I thought was turned off since the AEBS is in Bridge Mode. Why is this happening?
Here is my network setup which consists of the Modem / Router from my ISP - an Airport Extreme Base Station and one Airport Express - which is connected to my MacPro via ethernet. The MacPro does not have an airport card installed and is running OSX 10.6.8 - all other computers / devices are running 10.7.x and iOS6).
VDSL Modem / Router (from Internet provider) with wireless turned off - (so it is not broadcasting a competing wireless signal) - connected via ethernet to my Airport Extreme Base Station.
Here are all the settings on the AEBS and the Airport Express: - I am using Airport Utility 5.6.1 on my Mac Pro running OSX 10.6.8 - so the setup prefs are different than the newer version of Airport Utility found on 10.7.x systems - but both work fine. Although I did notice that the option to allow ethernet clients to connect to the Airport Express does not exist (or I just didn't find it) in the newer version of Airport Utility.
Airport Extreme Base Station is set up as follows:
Wireless Mode: Create a Wireless Network
    Wireless Settings:
Allow this network to be extended IS CHECKED
    Radio Mode: 802.11n (b and g compatible)
    Wireless Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal
    Access Control:
MAC Address Access Control: Not Enabled
    Internet Settings:
    Internet Connection:
    Connect Using: Ethernet
    Connection Sharing: OFF (Bridge Mode).
    TCP/IP:
    Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    Advanced Settings:
    Logging & Statistics:
Syslog Destination Address is blank (as in nothing appears in this field).
    Syslog Level: 5 - Notice
    Allow SNMP is CHECKED
    MobileMe:
Back to my Mac is turned off - but if I try to turn it on I get an error message saying "Turn off NAT Addressing - which I thought was turned off since the AEBS is in Bridge Mode. Why is this happening?
    IPv6:
    IPv6 Mode: Link-local only
As stated - my MacPro with no wifi card -  is connected via ethernet to an Airport Express which connects wirelessly to the AEBS for network and internet access.
    Airport Express Settings:
    Airport Settings:
Wireless Mode: Join a Wireless Network
    Allow Ethernet Clients IS CHECKED
    Wireless Security WPA/WPA2 Personal
Internet Settings: Are grayed out (as in I can't change these settings - I assume because they are being controlled by the AEBS) and read as follows:
    Connect Using: Wireless Network
    Connection Sharing: OFF (Bridge Mode)
    TCP/IP:
    Configure IPv4: using DHCP
All other settings are identical to the AEBS.
All other WiFi devices in the house (MacBook Pro, iPhones, iPad's, iMac, Apple TV, Nintendo Wii etc…all are able to connect to the network and connect to the internet - no problem.
Thanks for any insights into what might be causing the double name on the network and why it is asking me to turn off NAT addressing - when both my Airport devices are in Bridge Mode?

I am also having this issue... any updates on this??

  • Mac computer network vs airporte

    Hello fellow Mac-o-philes,
My question is:  Is the wireless network that the Mac computer can create the same as the network that an Airporte base station creates?  Question, being, I was working with a piece of recording equipment (Aja KiPro) that can be controlled via a wireless network, such as is created by an Airporte Base station, or other 802.11 compatible wireless router.  I created a wireless network from my MacBook pro, and although the KiPro could see the network that I created, I could not get it to connect with it.
    Thanks.
    Mike John
    late 2008 MacBook Pro
    OSX 10.6.8

All, after almost giving up, I solved the problem. I have McAfee installed on my PC. The firewall needed to be configured to allow access to my ip address. once i changed ip setting from "public" to "trusted" I was able to access shared files and printing.

  • Computer not showing up in Network Map

    Hi,
Running NM 5.5.9195.0-Pure0/Platform 11.2.9195.1 through a DLINK DIR 655 Cable (Comcast) Modem Hardware Version A3 and Firmware 1.21.  Connected wired to Dell Desktop Windows Vista 32bit. via Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection.  Home network consists of another Dell desktop (wired) and two identical Dell Laptops (Dell XPS M1530), Canon M6590 Network printer (wired) and a Hawking HWNREN1 300N range extender (wireless).  All computers have Norton Internet Security 2010.
The map in network magic shows all computers and devices with the exception of one laptop when it is powered off.  As I said above, the two Dell Laptops are identical.  When both laptops are powered up, they are displayed.  If both laptops are powered off, only one remains visible in the map (it shows a "dimmed" dotted connection line to the central modem in the map).
I can not figure out why the other laptop is not displayed in the map when it is powered off.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Oh!  And here's another weird thing.  My nephew was visiting yesterday, helping me move furniture and he asked could he get on my wifi.  I opened the network lock and put the password in his phone myself and it never gave me a notification that he had connected.  Later, my dad came over and when his phone connected to my wifi, it let me know that he had connected.  Wonder what's different about these 3 devices (blu-ray, 2 iphones).  None were listed in the network map before I allowed them to connect yesterday.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music yo will have to get them from you you got them before.

  • HT3819 I have Yamaha a/v receiver connected to network but it does not pickup my itunes from my Mac computer.  My os is snow leopard.

I have a Yamaha RX-A2010 A/V receiver which is connected to internt but it does not receive my itunes from my Mac computer.

Well, I see a few things that can be in the way:
    1. MAC address filtering is really not a security measure since the MAC addresses are sent in the clear (unencrypted) and many devices can have their MAC addresses changed easily with software.  I'd recommend losing the MAC filtering and just use WPA2 and be even more secure than you are currently.
    2. If you disabled the firewalls during the install, that may have been a bad thing.  The installer is supposed to create ports through the firewalls during install, so if they are disabled and later enabled, the ports are not there.
    3. Does your printer show up if you type its IP into a browser?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • AE: only one computer connecting to network

We recently moved back from Northern Japan where I originally had the network settings programed. Yes, it is an American spec product, I bought it on Post.
So when we finally moved to the states I tried to reset to the factory settings with no joy. It was a chore just to get my network reconfigured on just one computer. Every time I reset the settings to factory, it still had its name and all the settings in place.
the problem is that i cannot connect one more than one computer. can anybody help??
i have a MacBook Pro that the wireless is actually working on but the desktop Mac computer which is inches away from the AE is not able to get on the internet.
    HELP??

It could be a combination of things. Try the following
Complete reset of your cable modem (when you say modem, I am understanding that this is a simple modem with one ethernet port, correct?)
Push the reset button on the modem
    Power it off
Pull the battery if it is easily accessible
    Leave it off 30 minutes
Power off everything else, AirPOrt Express, computers, etc.
Connect the modem to your AirPort Extpress with the ethernet cable
Power up the modem only and let it run 3-4 minutes by itself
Power up the Express the same way
Power up your computers the same way
Check to see if multiple devices can connect.
If no, open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
Make sure that the settings for Connection Sharing is set to Share a public IP address (if you have a simple one port cable modem).
    Post back on your progress

  • Windows can't create a network map/appearance of B...

    Hi
I have had BT infinity for somewhat over a month now without any problems, until yesterday. That I am aware of two things have changed but in what order they changed I do not know.
'Firstly' I connected a brand new but several years old i.e. unused, LG 1T network drive and tried to get through the software installation process without success (can't create acceptable login details ). However I could see etc. the drive if I typed its network address into a browser's address window. BUT at that point the Windows network map started breaking. That was yesterday and I have, for the moment, removed the drive and deleted its info from the Homehub 5b.
Today I noticed that two new wireless networks have appeared, BTWifi-X and BTWifi-with-Fon. These appear and disappear as and when my homehub is switched on and off and, given what I have read, I assume these are the hotspot networks I am providing.
If I have my laptop connected to the homehub via LAN, Windows can create a network map providing no other computer is connected via WAN. Conversely when any computer is simultaneously connected to the homehub via WAN Windows loses the ability to create a network map, this includes the situation where one computer is connected via WAN and LAN. I often use my employer's WAN when at work and frequently forget to switch the WAN off, meaning that when I come home the laptop is initially often connected via WAN and LAN. That I am aware of, Windows has not previously had a problem creating a network map when this has happened.
There does not seem to be a problem if my phone (android) is connected to the homehub via WAN or if I have two computers connected to the homehub via only WAN nor if two computers are connected to the home hub via only LAN
One other thing I have also noticed is that the network map, when created, seems to contain, at times, a switch, a hub, Homehub5 and BThub5**** as if there a multitude of connectors.
I would like to get back the ability for windows to create network maps whatever connections are made.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

You seem to be using WAN to mean a Wireless connection when it means something else. Is this correct.
Your HH 5 B should provide a better network map than windows. Do you know how to log into your Home Hub Manager to get this and other information ?
Have you set up your HH 5 B as recommended in this forum ?

  • Problems with seeing computers on the network map but they are not able to connect with each other

    Hi All,
We have 6 HP pavillion Slimline s3620f PCS(Pentium Dual COre ED200) with 10/100 and wireless connections.  They are running Windows Vista Home 64.  We are also trying to connect a macbook, a laptop with vista 32, and a a mac with win xp running via bootcamp.  We upgraded to the WRT160Nv2 for wireless access.
We have the cable modem connected to the router.  The router is connected to a switch.  On the network map, all connections are working/green(can access internet).  Before this, in the vista network map each computer could connect to the other.  NOw each computer can only connect to the router and one particular other computer.  Each computer lists itself and that one particular other computer and the router.  If I look at the full map, all are listed but they cannot connect to each other.
I hope this makes sense.  Any suggestions?

  • Awful new Network Map -- how can I get rid of it?

The latest upgrade, to Network Magic  5.1, is awful.  There is a terrible new circular version of the Network Map.  Many of the devices now are listed off the screen on three pages.  The display is very confusing, with some devices on the screen, and others off the screen to either side.
Where is the the option to go back to the old version of the Network Map which was much, much easier to use?
Is there a way to select the old network map as an option?
If not, how can I go back to an older version of Network Magic?

Hi gabrielse, Right now the only version of NM that you can go back to is 4.9, which you can find on the download page on PureNetworks.com
...but I think you should wait a bit before going back to 4.9
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.
