Moved users to new message store Unity Connection

We recently moved users to a new messwage store on exchange. These users can no longer receive their voice mail in outlook. Everyone else can. What is the issue here?
Unity Connection
8.5.1.10000-206
Exchange 2003

You may need to check the Unified Messaging profile setup in Unity to ensure it still has access into the new store.  In 2003, it uses WebDav, so if the account you are using is not setup to use WebDav on the new store, Unity can not deliver nor retrive information from this new store.  Also note, there is some sort of odd requirement with Microsoft and WebDav.. the account that uses WebDav must have a mailbox setup and at least one message sent and received to it.   (Or just logged into at least once for it to be active).  I have no idea why, but its documented at MS and seemed to fix a problem for me during a prior install with CUC and 2003 Exchange

  • Add moved /users to new install

    Hello,
I moved my /users directory using the 'Advanced Options' under Accounts in System Prefs to another drive.  My boot drive is simply for apps and only maintains an 'admin' user account for recoverability purposes.  My issue is that I recently installed a fresh image of Snow Leopard on the boot drive and am having a tough time adding that account that exists on another drive (that was created via a prior System) back to my newly installed system.
Did I have to 'import' that user partition on installation setup (as asked by the install process)?  or is there a way that I can re-use that /users account that is on a different drive with my new fresh install?
    Any help is appreciated,
    -J

  • Weird error message in Unity Connection - Email Notifications

I went to a user, notifications, email, and put in the email address and enabled it. I click save and get this message "The specified SMTP address cannot be in the VMS domain." I searched and didn't see anything here on the forums about it and googled it and didn't find anything either. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Chad,
Is the domain name of the email address you are specifying the same as the domain name that the server is using? For this to work, the email address should be in a different domain than the one that the Unity Connection server is in.
    Hope this helps.

  • After adding a new message store partition

    First , our version is:
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-6.03
    (built Mar 14 2008; 32bit)
    libimta.so 6.3-6.03 (built 17:12:37, Mar 14 2008; 32bit)
I have a question about the behaviour of users whose
mailbox are in a newly created message store partition
, which I call its nickname as mailvol2
    These were what I did:
I created the new partition using the command
    configutil -o store.partition.mailvol2.path -v /newdisk/par
    (then restarted the JSMS)
I tried to test it first on an existing user
(whose mails are still in the default primary partition)
and I added the "mailMessageStore" attribute to
his Ldap entry, with the value mailvol2
Now I tried sending him new mails.
The mail could be read. But it seems that they
went to the primary mailstore partition as I
could not see any subdirectories under the path
    /newdisk/par
(I expected there is a subdirectory called
    ==user under there)
Is this normal ? In other words, only newly created
users (with the mailMessageStore= mailvol2 attribute)
will have their mails under there.
For the old user, I must use the
    mboxutil -r ..........
command to move his old mailbox first in order for his
new mails being housed in the new partition ?

mboxutil -r should change the mailMessageStore attribute on the user.
It is important that the mailMessageStore attribute on the user be correct. This is not for the normal functioning of access to the folder on a day-to-day basis, but for recovery purposes.
For normal functioning, access to the folder occurs via the folder DB. The folder DB record includes the name of the partition on which the folder resides and the file system path to the folder.
But if folder DB information has been lost, the store access code looks for the folder on the partition specified by the user's mailMessageStore attribute. If it exists, the folder is added to the folder DB. This allows the store to recover dynamically. If the user does not have a mailMessageStore attribute, then the default partition is assumed. The reconstruct -m command will search all the partitions and work this out, but the dynamic recovery requires the mailMessageStore attribute to be correct and assumes the user is on the default partition if the does not have a mailMessageStore attribute.
This is mentioned in [To Change the Default Message Store Partition|http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Managing+Message+Store+Partitions+and+Adding+Storage#ManagingMessageStorePartitionsandAddingStorage-ToChangetheDefaultMessageStorePartition] in the Admin Guide.

  • Userdata restore after moving users to new pool

    Hi
I recently moved users from one Lync standard pool to another but users have lost all there contacts.
I never realised you needed to back them first before the moved users, is this now lost or can i get it back somehow?

    Hi tonysolinas,
If you select Force, the user account is moved, but any associated user data is deleted (for example, conferences that the user has scheduled). If you do not select it, both the account and
    the associated data are moved.

  • Moved User to new account.  How to connect to old Time Machine backup.

Hello.  I've just upgraded my wife's macbook pro to Mavericks.  There was an issue with the install and we couldn't launch programs.  I noticed that while logged in as Guest everything worked, so after many other futile attempts I created a new user and moved all her docs, etc. to the new user.  I've renamed her old account and changed her new one to her previous name.  All appears to work and everyone is happy.  Except Time Machine.  She now has a bcakup for an account she no longer uses and no backup for the account she does.  Is there a way to connect the new account to the old backup so as to retain all the historical data?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Time Machine backs up the whole computer, not just one account, so unless some hardware was changed or you erased the internal hard drive, I think Time Machine should continue to work. What are you seeing that indicates it's not backing up?
If it's indeed not working, see Pondini's excellent website for everything having to do with Time Machine: http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html

  • Moving users to new drive - Questions

Okay so I just received new MP today.
Boot drive will be on separate SSD. (Intel x25-M)
I want to move my user accounts to my data drive (4x 1TB RAID 0)
I'll have Time Machine backup, but my question is if the RAID
goes down will I be able to boot back up and restore from the
external Time Machine drive? (Remember my user accounts will be on the RAID)
    Thanks

I agree with Kappy here. It really isn't a good idea to have your users on something other than your boot drive. You can, however, keep all of your files on the RAID as you would like. iTunes/iPhoto doesn't really care where the files/library is stored. Everything else is pretty easy to store elsewhere. I have a three disk RAID0 (with multiple backups of course) that is used for all of my files/media etc. but I keep my Users on the single drive boot volume. It has worked pretty much flawlessly since I bought this machine in Oct 2006.
Another thought is that keeping your users on the startup volume will also decrease the amount of read/writes to your RAID and possibly prolonging the life of your RAID. I've had this same RAID setup for almost three years with two operating system upgrades and the RAID hasn't failed yet.

  • In iMS5.1 on Solaris 8, how do I define imsbackup groups by giving a list of users or by Message Store Partition?  TIA

    Have you looked at http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/messaging/ims51/ag/store.htm#25747?
List of users I believe, not per partition.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 Accessing and Purging user messages as admin

Is there a way as an admin I can purge a users saved voicemail messages in Unity Connection 8.5 without deleting their entire account and recreating it?
Also is there a way using an admin account I can access a users mailbox and export messages to individual files (.wav, etc.)for storage/playback/evidence purposes?
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
I'll just add another reference to the great info from Jonathan (+5 "J")
The best way with Unity Connection to delete VM's is with the use of this excellent tool from
    the great suite of Unity Tools (** "reset" feature);
    Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox,  resetting greetings, deleting voice names, resetting passwords,  removing private lists and a number of other options you may choose.   For installations where the user base “changes over” frequently such as  schools this may be a nicer option.  This option is also allowed for  CoRes installations since it does not involve the removal of user  objects from the Connection database.

  • Message Store Moving

    Hi guys,
I ' m running Sun Messaging Server 6.3, i have to to move my MSS (just the message store) from an old/small FS to a new and bigger FS.
I need to plain the best method to do it with the lowest downtime.
Cause the customer disagree to do it live (switch and imsrestore to an emtpy MSS fresh installation) at the moment i identified just two methods:
    - ufsdump 0f – /mss | ( cd /mnt ;ufsrestore xvf – )
    - tar cvf /mnt/mss.tar /mss; cd /mnt; tar xf mss.tar
    Questions:
Is it necessary to run the reconstruct after moving mss with these two methods??
Do you know a more safe method ???
    Any ideas?
    Thank's for replies

Yes, putting the new storage on a new message store partition and moving the users to it using mboxutil -r is the easy way to to do this. mboxutil -r will use the appropriate locking to allow you to do this during normal operations. Of course whether that is a good idea depends on the IO capability of the system.
Also, please review this knowledge article in MOS:

  • Unity Connection 8.5 message aging

In Unity connection 8.5, if message aging policy "Permanently Delete Messages in the Deleted Items Folder in" is set to N days, does it permanently delete the messages individually exactly N x 24 hours after the message was deleted or does Unity Connection run a purge of all messages past due to be deleted at a specific hour once a day (for example, at midnight).
In other words, if I have it set to 1 day and a message was "deleted" by a user at 1pm today, will Unity Connection purge such message at (1) 1pm tomorrow or (2) some scheduled time tomorrow after 1pm.
Thank you.  An answer will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
The Task agent runs every 30 minutes
Hence the message will be deleted  as soon as  task agent runs after 1 pm Next day.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 accessing/uploading custom messages

I would like to create a custom auto attendant script / audio text application in Unity Connection but I am having difficulty understanding how I upload or add my custom pre recorded messages to unity connection so that I can access in the call handler configuration. In researching a different post, someone commented that you can upload via the "media bar" but I have yet to locate a 'media bar."

    Hi Tim,
    Here's the path;
Find List Call Handler > Edit > Greetings > Specified (Alternate,Standard,Closed etc.) >
Play/Record at bottom of page (this opens media Master) > Options > Open File > Browse

  • Unity Connection Integration with CS 1000 and Meridian 81 - PIMG

I have a customer who have  (2) Nortel Meridian 81 and (1) CS1000  for their 3 locations along with Octal 350 servicing 2500 voicemail users today. Customer also has a  Cisco UCM in their network today which is servicing their wireless phone users.
UCM and CS1000 are networked together using Q.Sig trunks today. Customer is looking at replacing their Octal solution with a new Voice mail solution.
I was looking at integration documents for Unity Connection using PIMG.
In this  scenario, would I need 3 separate PIMG 's at the three remote sites and integrate it with Unity connection or Can I achieve this using just one PIMG at one of the sites, considering the three sites are trunked together using tie-trunks.

    Hi there,
Just to add a note to the great tips from Hailey (+5 Hailey!)
We are in the final stages of replacing our "old" Octel with Unity Connection, part of
which is integrated to our CS1000 and CUCM in a "Hybrid" deployment like yours
    Centralized Voice Messaging
Cisco Unity Connection supports centralized voice messaging through the phone system, which supports
various inter-phone system networking protocols including proprietary protocols such as Avaya DCS,
Nortel MCDN, or Siemens CorNet, and standards-based protocols such as QSIG or DPNSS. Note that
centralized voice messaging is a function of the phone system and its inter-phone system networking,
not voice mail. Connection will support centralized voice messaging as long as the phone system and its
inter-phone system networking are properly configured.

Centralized voice messaging provides voice messaging services to all users in a networked phone system environment. Connection can be hosted on a message center PINX and provide voice messaging services to all users in an enterprise assuming the message center PINX and all user PINX phone systems are properly networked. For a centralized voice messaging configuration to exist, a suitable inter-phone system networking protocol must exist to deliver a minimum level of feature support, such as:•Message waiting indication (MWI).•Transfer, which ensures that the correct calling/called party ID is delivered to the voice messaging system.•Divert, which ensures that the correct calling/called party ID is delivered to the voice messaging system.Other features may be required depending on how the voice messaging system is to be used. For example, if it is also serving as an automated attendant, path-replacement is needed as this feature prevents calls from hair-pinning.

  • Cisco Unity Connection Single inbox with Exchange 2010

I have a new installation of Unity Connection 8.6.2 using single inbox with an Exchange 2010 cluster frontended by a Netscaler load balancer.Functionality that does not work is when a new message comes into outlook and the message is read or deleted it does not update the status on the phone- IE turn off the MWI or if the message is deleted it is still a new message in Unity. If you click reset in the user unified message account, the status gets updated.
TAC says its a blocked port on Exchange TCP 7080 but that is open.

      I followed this document :
