Moved video files to windows drive and now

I have an issue related to moving files from iPhone to my Windows Computer, files got moved without any error. I had never imagined this would happen. This all happened in 2 hours.
1. I moved few of video files total size 2GB from iPhone to Windows Drive.
2. Then went up to sync using iTunes without anything in Camera Roll.
3. Then Erased All contents.
4. Got the phone replaced from Apple Store.
5. Now came back home and shocked to see the files are not copied properly and see attached for details.
I was checking to see is there any remote chance of recovering the original videos that i record, or have to lose those memories for ever. It's all my kids videos that i shot for the first day school this year. Any experts out there please share your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks.
PS: I don't have any itunes backup or any other backup of my media on iPhone. I regret as i should have synced with iTunes, or synced with any cloud service, or at least do a copy paste and verify the files, when the iPhone is detected as a disk on Windows Machine.

Import is just a word for copying photos from the phone to a computer and not that different than what I do in Windows -- although I haven't compared the speed on a large number of photos. If you are importing and using iPhoto, you might try doing it with Image Capture which will allow you to copy them directly to an external drive. It may be faster than doing it to iPhoto but I haven't compared the speed. Instructions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 are shown below.
Connect the iOS device to the computer.
If Image Capture does not open automatically, you can navigate to your Applications folder and open Image Capture from there.
Choose the location to which you'd like to import pictures.
    Click Options.
Click the Options tab if it isn't already selected.
Enable the option "Delete items from camera after downloading".
Note: Deleting photos after importing helps to reduce Camera Roll size, and it improves backup and restore times. You may choose Keep Photos if you wish to import the photos to additional computers.
    Click OK.
    Click Download All.

  • Help - moved itunes folders to external drive and now my itunes is totally

A few months ago, in order to free up space on my c drive, i had to purchase an external drive - everything i installed via itunes since that date has been on the hard drive and everything was fine.
Last night i needed more room on my C drive so i stupidly moved the remaining itunes folders from my C drive to my F drive - unfortunately, when i opened itunes it was blank.
i've tried a few things - including adding the folder from the F drive - and that retrieved about 80% of my music/videos and the last playlists i had - however, they were all missing songs - even if all the songs that should be included remained on my itunes
i began the tedious process of manually adding files back in but soon realized this doesn't help itunes consider this the same ipod as what's still on my actual ipod.
*What I'd like to do (if possible) is to wipe itunes clean and somehow restore everything on my ipod into itunes so that i retrieve not only the songs and videos but also the playlists that i've spent way too much time building. At this point i fear that the various components to my ipod are in too many files on my external drive to be easily restored another way (though if i'm wrong please let me know)*
sadly (as this story might suggest) I am borderline computer illiterate - I've read a few posts suggesting some sort of software online (something the apple help line also made an "off the record" remark about) - but I can't for the life of me figure out which i would use or how to do this without risking the contents of my existing ipod (which has the playlists and songs/video I want to reestablish).
*Can anyone possibly suggest how to best handle this and walk me through it in painstakingly basic and specific detail? I would be forever grateful.*
    Thanks

iTunes uses the iTunes Library files - in particular the iTunes Library.itl file - to keep track of where your song files are located as well as playlist and related information.
Most likely in moving your folders around iTunes has been confused to such an extent that it created a new Library file. With a bit of luck you might still be able to find the old file which would restore your old Library.
So the first thing you want to do is look around your computer and make a note of any iTunes Library.itl files you can find. Generally speaking you'll find them in the iTunes folders on your system and depending on how you've been moving the folders - i.e. whether you "cut" them or "copied" them - you may still find at least one one on your F: drive and some on your C: drive.
Having noted where they are you know want to check each of them out as described in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base. In following those instructions you want to select the Choose Library option and use the pop-up window that appears to zero in on the various .itl files you've located.
Remember that each Library file will show a different Library in iTunes - perhaps slightly different, perhaps completely different - and if the first one isn't what you're looking for you'll have to close iTunes and repeat the procedure by selecting one of the other .itl's.
    Post back for any clarification.

  • Moved iTunes library to Go Drive and now cannot sync iPod

My hard drive was full so I moved all my music and photos to an external drive. I configured iTunes so it sees the library on the new drive but now it doesn't see my iPod when I plug it in to sync it.

I moved all my music and photos to an external drive.
You used teh menu Advanced Consolidate, correct?
If you didn't iTunes won't see your music, even if you point it there.
You will need to File -> Add folder to library and select the music on the external drive.
but now it doesn't see my iPod when I plug it in to sync it.
See this -> Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Moved itunes folder to external drive and now lost playlists

To free space on my hard drive, I moved the folder to my external drive. Now, I successfully can access my music library, but my playlists aren't listed and I can't figure out how to get them/point to them. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

polydorus, you are my hero. I launched itunes with the shift key down and was able to select the library on the external drive. I would not have thought of that. Thanks so much.
shockme, I found changed the folder name under the advanced tab wasn't enough. I used File>Import and imported the music from the external drive no problem.
mlevin, I was really scared deleted the original file too. I checked several times that the exact number of bytes were moved in case I wanted to go back. Change the music location, do the import, fix the playlists and get all going and then I assume you can delete the contents in the music folder like I did. Then I did a defrag to clean things up. Good luck!

  • Existing piece won't run video files on windows 7 and vista

hi, folks - I need some help.
we have a series of older (2003) authorware pieces that use .mpg and .mov files. We run the lessons (exams, actually) at 10 or so sites across the country, twice a year. They've been running fine for 7 years with occasional updates and tinkering. At the sitting last week we had problems with a lab that just converted to Windows 7 and another laptop that runs Vista Business. In both cases the authorware file loads and runs until a screen that tries to load a video file. The placeholder shows up (a square with an x across it indicating its size), but the piece freezes and nothing runs. The piece runs fine on all the other sites and on a variety of pc's at our location.
In both cases, we are able to load and run the video files directly from the hard drive through Media Players, but they will not load in authorware.
I've tried recompressing the files into .wmv, mp4, mov, and avi. Still won't run. Tried recompressing on a different machine and still no joy.
would really appreciate any ideas or help on this.
    thanks,
    Ron

thanks, Steve and Eric. Replaced it and it's running fine - appreciate the response and advice.
    Regards,
    Ron

  • Was advised to delete system configuration file from hard drive and now computer will not start - any help would be appreciated.

Downloaded Yosemite and since then cannot connect to internet or bluetooth mouse - was advised to delete system configuration file from the hard drive and since then cannot start up computer. Any help would be appreciated - cheers.

Boot the MBP with the OPTION+COMMAND+R keys down.  The result should be a display showing a revolving globe.  By following the instructions, you will be able to reinstall the original OSX.  Then you may reinstall Yosemite.
A solid Internet connection will be required.
    Ciao.

  • Moved itunes to external hard drive and now cant import music

I am unable to import any CDs to my itunes, and my itunes does not seem to recoginze my ipod either. I get an error message that reads "error occurred while converting the file...(name of CD).... The required file cannot be found." I think the problem may lie in that I recently transferred my itunes folder onto an external harddrive to save room on my internal hard-drive. In doing so, I inadvertently moved the itunes library folder to the recycle bin, in addition to the itunes music folder. I recovered it and it seems I only lost my playlists, but I'm wondering if there was something else lost in the transfer that now prevents me from importing any data.

Try this -> iTunes Track CPR v1.3

  • I had a windows laptop, and I save files like photos, documents, videos and other things on an external hard drive, and now I want to move those files to the Mac book Pro, and then move those files again to another external hard drive 1T. My question is:

I had a windows laptop, and I save files like photos, documents, videos and other things on an external hard drive, and now I want tomove those files to the Mac book Pro, and then move those files again toanother external hard drive 1T. My question is: Is it possible? Doing this willnot affect the files that I had in windows? No information is lost? or how cani do it?

Connect the external drive to your Mac and drag the files from it to your Mac's internal drive. Then dismount and disconnect the external drive, connect the 1TB external drive, and drag the files from the internal drive onto the external. Nothing will have been deleted from any of the drives up to this point; the files will only have been copied. Verify that the files are readable. There's no reason they shouldn't be; this is just a precaution.
Now if you wish to delete the files from any of the drives, drag them to the Trash, and Empty the Trash while the drive from which they came is still connected. If you disconnect the drive before emptying the Trash, the files you were trying to remove from it won't be deleted. They'll remain in the Trash and continue to take up space on the drive.
Note that if your external drives are in NTFS format, you won't be able to write anything to them or delete anything from them, though you will be able to read and copy the files they contain. The NTFS disk format is read-only to the Mac OS, unless you have a third-party NTFS driver installed. To make your drives cross-platform readable and writable, you must reformat them in the FAT32 or ExFAT format.

  • I moved my FCP events and projects folder onto my external hard drive and now everything is gone on FCP.  When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened.  I still get the missing files image.

I moved my FCP events and projects folder onto my external hard drive and now everything is gone on FCP.  When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened.  I still get the missing files image.  When I try to import the folders manually something pops up that says it is incompatable.  It is possible to retrieve everything that was lost?

"When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened"
Brownale6 how can  u reload folder in to FCP.
As you said folders are moved to external disk but have you checked it should be like this
    For Event
external disk>Final Cut Events>your event folder.
    For project
external disk>Final Cut Projects>your project folder.

  • HT1364 If I already moved Itunes media folder to external drive and now music is not matching up in iTunes?

    Dear Itunes Community~
This is my first time using glad you are here, but all the passwords!!
    Question/Quandry:
If I already moved Itunes media folder to my external drive and now my music is not matching up in iTunes, what should I do?  I have tried my solution !?, and now I have 17,000 songs, instead of 9,000!
Should I just uninstall Itunes, and then reinstall Itunes, and let it do it's thing, and then figure out how to move to the external hard drive later?
Help, I screwed it up all on my own!
Any/all help and Itunes educated suggestions appreciated!
    Thank you very much,
    Doris =:o
PS ~~ Is there anyway to easily delete duplicates?? Seems not?

I have a very similar problem. Hope I don't confuse people trying to help us since the solutions may be different.
I had my iTunes path directed to a 2nd internal hard drive. Everything was working fine - except I found that purchased Apps were still being downloaded to the Mobile Applications folder on my main hard drive instead of the 2nd internal drive. I decided to retry directing the iTunes path to my 2nd internal drive, hoping that might get iTunes to save my Apps there. Big Mistake. Suddenly, there were no Apps showing in my iTunes Library Apps window at all. I verified the downloaded apps are still in my main hard drive's Mobile Applications folder, but I cannot get iTunes to display them in my Apps Library window anymore.
I decided to try downloading a new app and, sure enough, iTunes once again downloaded it into the very same Mobile Applications folder on my main hard drive, where all my (now orphaned) original apps are, but the only one iTunes will only display in my Apps window is the new one. I read you can redownload purchased apps, but my apps are not missing. iTunes just won't display them in the Apps window anymore.

  • I moved my itunes library to external drive and now itunes wont work.

I moved my itunes library to an external drive and now itunes cannot find the library. I followed a youtube video and all seemed to work fine until i deleted the old library and emptied the trash. Prior to deleting and emptying the trash I checked preferences to verify the path of Itunes was to the external drive. It seemed to work even when I moved the original library to the trash.
Now when I launch itunes the song listings show but the songs cant be found. I checked the volume of my itunes that I moved to the external and it was about 4 GB that i moved. I have approx 2000 songs.
    Any suggestions?

Hold down the alt/option Key when you start iTunes a dialog box will open
Select Choose Library and select the itunes library on your external drive

I have over 200 hours of HD video on 5 different TB Thunderbolt GRaid hard drives. I need to reorganize my projects, moving large files from one drive to another. Advice?

Do some testing to get your method working right with some less than important footage.
Copy/paste files where you want then.
Use the FCE Reconnect feature to tell FCE where the newly copied files reside.
Make sure the new location and files are working as expected with your Projects.
Delete the original files if no longer required.

  • FCP 7.0.3, Canon XF100, saved some clips to a portable hard drive and now they won't import?  Tried moving them back to the CompactFlash but still won't import?

FCP 7.0.3, Canon XF100, saved some clips to a portable hard drive and now they won't import?  Tried moving them back to the CompactFlash but still won't import?  iMac, 10.6.8

Well, for FCP to see this file structure and recognize it, you need to download the Canon XF Log and Transfer plugin...
    http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0040354.asp?model=
    >I don't have the original clips on the card.
Meaning that they didn't back up the full card structure?  Lordy...very few shooters do this and it is maddening.  If you don't have the full card structure, even with the plugin, FCP cannot log and transfer.
As for ClipWrap2...that should work.  Do you have the right files?

  • I partitioned a small drive for a windows program, and now the computer only wants to boot to Windows.  How do I get back to Mac so I can have a choice of drives?

I partitioned a small drive for a windows program, and now the computer only wants to boot to Windows.  How do I get back to Mac so I can have a choice of drives?

That doesn't sound good. It sounds like the power outage might have corrupted the partition for OS X. I would suggest booting from the Install DVD that came with your Mac while holding down the C key. Once you have selected the language start up Disk Utility from the pull down menu and repair the disk. Once you have done that then repair permissions also.
