My ATI 3870 is bottlenecked...
No, no no it isn't. You need X38 for PCI-E 2.0. But cards don't even use PCI-E 1.1 bandwidth, nevermind doubling that figure...

  • Which BIOS for Overclocking a P35 Platinum

I bought the P35 Platinum based on the positive reviews of performance and overclocking ability.  Reading through the forums, it's not clear which is the most stable version (other than 1.0) to get to the performance numbers I have seen.  Also, some reviewers mention versions like P03, VP.0B4 (assume a beta, but 1.4?), etc.  What versions are they referring to?
I was thinking of moving to 1.1 or 1.6. I know the "if it ain't broke...", but I want to overclock and don't think the 1.0 BIOS will get the results I am looking for:

    PC Power and Cooling 750
    8800 GT
    Thermalright 120 Extreme cooling

    OMG !!!!
Something is really weird about this bios !!!!
I can't boot overclocked from bios even at 220 HT, and at the beginning i was REALY disapointed.
Then i set it to optimize defaults ( and yes i did the whole flashing thing ) and i am now IN WINDOWS with my cheapo Kingston Value that did MAX 230 with problems NOW AT A WOOPING 237 Mhz and still going UP !!!!
    OMG OMG....
If only i can get it to boot from bios.Seems pretty stable in windows even at 237.
Really strange guys.I thought 230 was my memory limit....
Gonna try higher and let you know.
P.S. this bios seems to like Kinston Ram....Value at least

  • Which drivers for K8N Neo 2 Platinum

I'm just about to place an order for a K8N Neo2 Platinum to go with my AMD 64 3000+ Winchester.
As is usual I normally download the latest relevant BIOS and drivers in advance so everything is ready to go when the hardware turns up.
However, looking at the MSI page, there seems to be a bewildering array of drivers for this board: Neo2 drivers and it's not exactly clear which ones are for my specific board.
For example, I can't seem to find a relevant SATA driver from the list.
The actual board I'm going for is this one from Overclock: link to board
Can anyone list clearly the drivers, BIOS and any other utilities I will need when installing this board?
    Thanks.

Well after a lot of reading, I've determined that the following files are applicable to my board:
    BIOS
    BIOS: 7025v14.zip
    Drivers
    NVIDIA nForce3 System Drivers: NF3_CK8S.zip
    Marvell LAN Drivers: MarvellWXP69.zip
Realtek ALC Series AC'97 Audio Drivers: Realtek_ALCXXX_73.zip
I still can't seem to find a SATA/IDE driver as none of the ones listed are compatible with a Neo2 Platinum.
The closest I can find is the Nvidia nForce3 SATA/RAID driver for Windows 2K/XP but that is only for K8N Neo Platinum (7030).
Anyone know if this is the same driver for the Neo2 Platinum (7025) also?
    Have I missed anything?
There are also lots of utilities, some of which appear to be useful, if not necessary:
    Utilities
    NVIDIA nTune: nTune_MB.zip
    MSI DigiCell: DigiCell_MB.zip
    MSI PC Alert 4: PCAlert4_MB.exe
    MSI Core Center: CoreCenter_MB.exe
    MSI Live Update: LiveUpdate.exe
    Fuzzy Logic 4: FuzzyLogic.exe
    MSI DMI Browser: DMIBrowser.exe
    MSI i-Speeder: I-SPEEDER.exe
    MSI WMI Info: WMIInfo.exe
    MSI PasswordKeeper: PasswordKeeper.exe
    MSI SecureDoc: SecureDoc.exe
    MSI InfoView XP: InfoView.exe
    MSI GoodMem: insgoodmem.exe
    MSI Lockbox: LockBox.exe
Anyone care to comment on the usefulness (or not) of any of those utilities?

That's too hot for 50c in BIOS for your CPU.
Re-seat all your hardwares especially CPU. Apply Artic Silver 5 as the CPU thermal paste.

  • Which BIOS for Corsair 3200XLPT??

Hi guys, is there anyone using the Corsair PC3200XLPT here, I really like to know which BIOS is the most stable with these ram?? Right now I'm using Bios 1.52 but somehow I'd always got BSOD with these ram installed, all running at SPD, but even at lower timing 2-3-7-3, these ram still gave me troubles. And now my WinXP became corrupt . . .  .
Any clue please ??? or perhaps I've to rma these ram??

There is a real difference between Corsair XL and C2 memory:
    http://www.corsairmicro.com/corsair/xms.html
The XL should run at 2-2-2-5 1T at stock memory frequencies and even a bit beyond. I'd set the memory to those specs and run memtest86 for an extended period to make sure the hardware was working as it should be before doing anything else. If this generates errors then you definitely have a hardware problem but it may not be your memory. See Tiresmoke's excellent sticky above.
And whatever you do, don't even thing about changing the BIOS until you have a stable hardware platform and are running XP with absolutely no major problems.

  • [AMD] Whats the best BIOS for overclocking on the K8N Neo-2 Platinum

any one know which one is best.
    thanks

I have no idea what biosversion that is the best in general for OC the K8N Neo2 P.
I use 1.5 and it´s the only version I´ve used.
I believe not many people have tested OC potential for all 6 versions 1.0 - 1.5.
( even more if you include the beta´s).
I would say OC potential depends more of what hardware you are going to use.
Good RAM and a good CPU stepping are in most cases more important then biosversions.

  • P67-GD65, change Turbo multipliers in BIOS for overclocking

    Hi,
    Here are my specs
    Intel Core i5 2500k
    MSI P67-GD65 B3, Bios 1E
    8GB Corsair ram
I have read a lot on guides and other forums on how it is possible to keep the base multiplier, i.e. at 33 and to go into the CPU features part in the Overclock menu and change the core limit for Turbo multipliers so that the over clock comes into effect when turbo kicks in. As yet, though I haven't been able to pull it off. I have changed the multipliers and increased the watts given in the menu. But still in windows the CPU only goes up to 34 multiplier. Even when I set the multipliers to a relatively tame 40.
Am I missing something here. Is this sort of thing not possible in the new BIOS, because all the guides and topics have referee to old or beta BIOS. Bt I don't want to start flashing them all and screw something up.
So any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

    http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=183670
Please check down below where he shows how he over clocked using turbo, "Latest Successful Attempts using Speedstep Turbo overclocking"
That's basically what I am aiming for. I will be over clocking through the BIOS, I want to leave the base multiplier at 33 which is default for my processor and over clock by changing the turbo multipliers.
I have tried an older BIOS, 1.9. In it using the instructions provided I have been able to do what he mentioned and with prime95 my clock speed runs at 40x.
I'm trying each BIOS to see which one essentially killed this feature. Because in later BIOS this doesn't work and for some reason the turbo multiplier cap seems to be fixed at 60.
A review by Guru3D mentioned a similar way to overclock the board

  • Which BIOS for Windows 7?

Hi.In the moment I am with windows Vista x32 bios. I would like to know wich one Bios shall I use for windows 7? Thanks in advance.
And I am sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi
I think this is depending on your notebook Which one you have exactly?
On the Toshiba website I can different versions for the notebook, like one for 32bit OS and other one for 64bit OS. So I think thats the only difference because I dont see a special BIOS only for Windows 7.
If you have installed the latest BIOS version, everything is ok! :)

  • MOVED: Updated Bios, Now Overclocking Won't Work

This topic has been moved to MSI Intel boards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=253974.0

Tried changing the ratio and vcore in the Control Center without any Bios changes, it changed and saved, 4.5 ghz with 1.310v . Then my pc went to blue screen. What would stop the overclocking in this set up:
Enabled: Internal PLL Overvoltage, Execute Disable Bit, Intel Virtualization Tech
Disabled: Limit CPUID Maximum, Power Technology, C1E Support, Overspeed Protection, Spread Spectrum
     Also Turbo enabled.

  • How to update a BIOS for a P6N SLI Platinum motherboard

I'm running Vista x64 with 4GB RAM.  I'm having the same problem as everyone else that the OS runs slower with 4GB.  I installed the Microsoft's hotfix and that didn't correct the problem.  I downloaded the 1.5 BIOS drivers but I'm having trouble installing them.  I created a boot disk by right clicking on the A: drive and selecting Format.  Then I checked of System Disk or whatever it was called so I can boot off of it.  It loads the A: prompt but it wont see any of my hard drives.  I have two partitions; a C and a D.  Since that didn't work I grabbed another floppy and installed the drivers on their.
Problem is that I don't understand how to Flash the BIOS.  I run Afud408.exe from the command prompt and I get a list of options. I believe I selected the /p which did something, but then I rebooted and the BIOS is still v1.1 in the boot up screen.  Can someone please help me?  What do I need to type in the command prompt to get it to update?
    Thanks.

In order to make this work you need to run the afud408.exe from a pure DOS command line (not a DOS box).
The correct command line needs to be:
    afud408.exe BIOS-File name
    Example:
    afud408.exe A7350NMS.150
However, the best thing is to use the following tool, it will make the whole procedure a lot easier since it automatically prepares everything for you:
    >>MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool<<
It works with Vista 64bit as well. All you need is an USB Flash drive.
If you don't have an USB-Flash Drive you can also prepare a CD for flashing. Guides can be found here:

Maybe...that dude used different module other than "TruePower" by Antec.
Antec's work fine and dandy with a64's for the majority of ppl, the issue arises when it is heavily o/ced I don’t mean 220 o/c mine starts to have probs @ about 2800mhz up, the 12volt rail gets taxed and usually shows up in dropping back to desk top and blank blue screens or plain old random restarts when loading the system i.e. bench marking.
To give you some idea my system would drop to about 11.2v with my msi neo and about 11.6 on the asus, a lad I know has just brought a k8ne asus board with 3200 Newcastle and his is even lower. But with all the o/cing these days more ppls are trying it hence problems all though some really have nothing to do with psu's
Not a huge issue as most ppls with a64 will never see O/c’s like that
I think that was over at AnandTech the review on the 64 mentioned the problems
he was having with antec's when O/Cing
I should add with antec , my tagan runs sweet as and didn't cost a arm and a leg

  • Bios 1.9 on P35 Platinum Problems

As i stated, I recently purchased a 8400 cpu and I'm having issues with the bios.  No matter what I do I can't get the bios to change my ram settings from 5 4 4 12, I am running 4x1gig of crucial ram.  I have tried to change it manually and let the bios due it in auto and it always goes back to this setting.  Is there another bios update on the horizon for this issue?

    Quote from: Viktor92 on 17-August-08, 07:43:44
It seems that there is another beta bios in msi site (A7345IMS.P09 / 2008-08-06), but why don't you try v1.8 ?. When I had 4 x 1GB I could set the memory at 4-4-4-12 without any problem.
Just downgraded the bios to 1.8 and no change.
