Windows cannot boot because of missing/corrupt hal.dll! Help!
Hi,
make sure you have disconnected all non-essential external devices (printers, scanners, external harddisk) prior to installing BootCamp Windows.
Leave only mouse, keyboard and display connected.
Make sure that your XP CD is either retail or OEM/systemBuilder version and not a manufacturer-bundled one.
Also make sure that the CD is 'clean' (no dust, no scratches, etc.).
Use the BootCamp Assistant to revert back to one single OSX volume.
Use OSX Disk Utility to Verify your harddisk and repair permissions.
Retry the XP installation from scratch.
Generally using NTFS is more likely to not getting the 'missing hal.dll' error.

Satellite M70-360: CEekey.eke cannot run because its missing the dll
I accidentally removed the ekecioctl.dll and now everytime I start my laptop (Satellite M70-360) I get an error message saying that de CEekey.eke cannot run because its missing the dll. Does anyone know where can I download the dll?
ThanksHi
The CEekey.exe seems to be a part of the Toshiba E-key utility.
Therefore you should try to reinstall this Utility to get the keys working again.
Another hint; did you try to restore the OS to the early time point?
The XP supports an system restore tool. You can easily set the OS to a early point and the E-key should work again hopefully ;) -
The notification simply states that the file is incompatible with my current version of Photoshop, which is crazy because it was working fine until now and I need to work on this and multiple other files.
Thank you!

Because of missing component (MSVCR80.dll). What to do?
Have had itunes on computer for several months. Tried to install latest version. Installer indicated was successful. Attempted to open and received error message that itunes would not open because of missing component (MSVCR80.dll). What do I need to do and how?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I cant install windows via Bootcamp because I get an error. Help?
Every time I try to install windows with Boot Camp assistant, I get the error:
The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.
I looked at my Disk Utility and I only have one partition. I tried something out in terminal which lets you see hidden partitions and I saw that I had a second partition labeled EFI but that shouldn't be affecting Boot Camp Assistant right?
Anyways does anybody know how to fix this I really want to run windows natively on my macbook. For diskutil list command i got

Error Message: Missing \SYSTEM32\HAL.DLL
Anyone familiar with this error message when booting into Windows XP on a Macbook?
This problem began when I attempted to setup multiple partitions for Windows, using the disk management utility for Windows XP:
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<windows root>\system32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the above file"
Before trying to make more partitions, everything ran A-OK.
Please advise if you have run into this.
Thanks,
MbsI have the same problem with bootcamp and parallels.
Replacing the dll does not help.
btw: at the moment it seems to bee that xp does not work with bootcamp at all.
After installation I get a drive error. Looking up the support pages it is suggested to format the bootcamp volume before installing xp.
I tried this with the xp-installer (ntfs format) and from parallels using the old DOS format command.
No method worked.
After trying to run the bootcamp-xp in parallels I finally got the dll-error. -
Cannot restore because incompatible or corrupted
Hi,
I recently accidently updated my iPod to the newest version 5.1.1 from 5.1 and in the process lost all my app data and notes etc. According to a thread I read earlier, even if I could restore it, it would not downgrade it back right? I cannot restore now because it says my iPod is either incomptabile or corrupt etc. Basically, all I want to do is get back all my app data. But I cannot use any of the backups before I accidently upgraded and lost everything because I get that error because I think it was not compatible since there are two different software versions. Can anyone find me a solution to this? Is it possible for me to email Apple to have them fix something up or something. I really want my app data back and all that.
Thanks in advance.Well if iTunes still recongnize your iPod, then try to restore your iPod touch from DFU mode.
Put your iPod touch into DFU mode, then iTunes should be able to restore your iPod (I did this with my friend's iPhone).
Internet connection may be required.
To put your iPod into DFU mode:
1. Plug your iPod touch into your computer and turn it off.
2. Then hold down the power button for 3 seconds.
3. Then without releasing the power button, also hold down the home button for 10 seconds.
4. Then release the power button, but keep holding the home button down for 15 seconds.
5. Now you are in DFU mode.
6. Open iTunes.
7. Then there should be a pop up window asking you to restore your iPod and click restore. If not then find your iPod like you usually would and click restore.
8. Then wait until your iPod is done restoring. -

Update Retriever cannot retrieve because of missing files
Hello,
I'm working a while now with Update Retriever to ease deployment of about 40 ThinkPads and a few ThinkStations. The bugs already found and documented in this forum can be worked around mostly - sometimes you have to redownload the whole repository.
But there are some updates the UR fails to retrieve and it won't ever retrieve them properly because files are referenced but missing on Lenovo's servers.
What hurts us most at the moment is that we cannot roll out new Access Connection 5.12 for Vista, because the file 7vcv85wj.txt is missing and UR won't continue without it. With 5.02 being severely broken on Vista this means we may have bet on the wrong horse with TVSU and UR for getting TV-Software on our Lenovos.
Does anybody know how to get UR to work with Lenovo's repositories? If not - is there an alternative to UR short of letting all our Thinkpads download directly over the Internet (which also hurts me, because the content - transferred via SSL is not cacheable)
Update: Forgot that - Maybe there is a channel to report such errors - but I didn't find a clue on Lenovo's support site.

* interestingly these files were already downloaded - nonetheless UR fails to import with error 404
(Update 2009-02-19: the broken package count went down to 1 for me - that's better)

Disc Building Cannot Proceed Because Of Missing Assets
I've been trying to build a disc, both a physical and an ISO image file. However, the process stops midway and at first it said "WAV File Is Missing" then when I tried it agin it now says "Was not found" [but what exactly? It didn't specify]. I've never had this problem last year so this is my first time seeing it. I've checked all of my assets and they're all in tact. What's wrong here?
What version of Encore?
It helps if you can narrow down what type of file is at issue. For example, the only forum reports of this error I saw were related to rendering menus. Do you have motion menus?
Are you transcoding your assets for video timelines prior to the build step?
If t hose questions don't make sense, tell us a bit more about how you are getting your assets into Encore. -

Cannot boot in Windows/Boot Camp anymore
Hello.
I'm Running OSX 10.10 Yosemite and Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
I had Bootcamp working pretty well in my MacbookPro late 2013. But I needed a bit more space into the Win7/BootCamp partition. So I went to Disk Utility and reduced the "Macintosh HD" partition and applied the modifications. Until this, no problem.
I restarted my Mac with ALT key to boot into windows and assign the unallocated space to the Win7/Bootcamp partition. I used "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition Free" in windows to allocate the space to the Win7/BootCamp partition. The program "said" it needed to reboot so that the changes could be applied because "Drive C is being used". And so I did.
When booting (in Win7/Bootcamp partition), Minitool partition wizard began making the changes, but right after they were done I got the message that "...changes were made to the partition..." and "...no bootable device...". So now, I cannot boot into Win7.
Also, if it helps, I followed this tutorial on youtube that seemed to work for the "youtuber" -- http://youtu.be/zhkdOLXT6Eg
So, anyone know how to proceed so that I can keep my partitions as is, whilst fully restoring normal BootCamp functionality ?
Thank you,

2. This is a tedious process and you want to check after the second 'p'rint command that it looks reasonable, before the 'w'rite and 'y'es to confirm.
3. You will need to reboot after the change, because the disk you are booted from is the one being modified. Reboot will rebuild disk0s4 using the start/end you entered.

Moved XP partition with Winclone - now getting hal.dll corrupted
I recently did an overhaul of my hdd setup and moved, using winclone, my Win XP partition to a different drive. Since then I get the error:
Windows cannot start because the following file is corrupted:
<Windows> \ System32 \ hal.dll
Please reinstall a copy of the previous files.
I've seen that this may happen when Parallels is also installed, but I don't use that.
I tried repairing boot.ini using [these Microsoft instrux|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330184], which were recommended in [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5840341]. Windows Recovery Console finds the current Windows installation. And when scanning for more installations using bootcfg /rebuild, I am permitted to add the one that is found using the Microsoft instructions (actually, there are no other than the original one but presumably the Recovery Console finds the re-located installation). But upon reboot, the error returns.
Any thoughts?
/pHi Stefan and danke schön for the quick reply.
Windows has to be on the last of the first 4 partitions).
I used FAT32 when I installed using Bootcamp. I also used FAT32 on the new partition onto which I put my clone of Win XP using Winclone.
I don't think I resized. The new partition onto which I cloned back Win XP is 22.9 GB according to Disk Utility, which is also what Winclone reports that the clone is in total when "unpacked".
On the drive where the XP partition now resides there are three partitions:
Mac boot drive
Win XP
Mac (scratch disk - easy to delete)
So I guess the problem is that the Windows volume is not the last of the three and that I would have to switch the order of the last two partitions?
Thanks again for your help.

Cant boot missing hal.dll file - HELP!
I have just installed my new MSI board, and I have a dreadful problem. I cannot get my computer to boot. It tells me that windows cannot start because the following file is mssing or corrupted: Hal.dll
In fact the file is there. I know this because if |I leave the windows install disk in the computer it boots ok. I have tried using the rebuild command from the recovery console, and the repair option, but so far it does not work.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? I had no problem with my old board, and so I thought it might be something to do with this new board. Are my settings incorrect?
I have SCSI as well as IDE drives, and I cannot tell if the boot.ini file is pointing to the right drive, but I suspect it is.
Please help!
Danhal.dll is a dll which interfaces your hardware to the operating system (Hardware Adapter Layer).
I don't know which operating system you are using, so I can't tell you the total answer to your problem.
When you boot from your hard drive (as opposed to floppy disk or cd-rom), it will always look for the initial hardware loaders ($ldr$, ntldr, etc) from the boot drive (normally "C") prior to looking at boot.ini. From there it will give you a choice of which operating system to load.
Incidentally, the loader is a dos based program so only knows about drives 1 & 2.
the easiest way to get the operating system on the second drive, is to use the install disk from windows by executing "cd-rom":/setup.exe from the start menu.
After removing the current version of the OS from the scsci drive, you may then install onto the scsi drive. Ensure that the scsi controller is enabled for booting, so it's BIOS is enabled.
Hope this helps.
