Is there any way I can click on pypanel and pull up the "right click" openbox menu instead of having to minimize full size windows to get to that menu?
not sure on that one but you can set a border around the edge of the screen so that you can access the right click menu.
it's in the obconf options
pacman -S obconf
duh - I cant believe I didn't think of that....great idea - thanks!  I already had obconf installed and used it too - so this worked out great.

ctrl+d haha.  This looks like a great guide - thanks for the link.
Everyone else - thanks for the help so far!
New question...I added gDeskCal for a simple calendar application, and it works great.  However, it shows up on pypanel across all 4 desktops. Any way i could remove it from the panel all together or specify it should only be on pypanel on a certain desktop, etc.?  I dug through pypanels config and info and the config for gDeskCal to no avail...far from a deal breaker but it would be cool to change haha.
Thanks again everyone!!!

  • Wireing Question for Data Center

I work in what I would consider to be a small/mid sized data center. We use two 6513 as the core/distribution for ~25 racks of servers.
My question comes in the way of cabling the servers to the core. Currently they are using long patch cords between the 6513 and each server. Well it’s a mess, functional but messy.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to clean up the mess and make it look professional.
Most people seem to suggest 2 different ways to accomplish this:
    1) Install switches in each rack and run fiber from the core to the rack. Wire each server to the switch in the rack.
    2) Install 24/48 port patch panels between the core area and the racks.
I'm wondering what people think of these ideas and if there are any other suggested ways of accomplishing this?
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
Here's something that we used to do where I worked:
We had 6509's with three/four 48 port blades servicing between 150 and 200 phones roughly. I had four total switches, one on each of four floors. So this would be roughly similar to your DC environment, only we're servicing longer horizontal runs and phones, not servers -- but the idea is the same (i.e. high density cabling issues).
Lord knows that when you're plugging in 48 cables into one of those blades, it can get pretty crowded. And since we don't yet know how to alter the laws of physics that determine space requirements, we have to search for alternatives.
Back to my environment: On three of the four floors, we just wired straight from the patch panel (that ran to floor locations) to the switch. Quite a mess when you're running in 48 cables to one blade! However, this is traditional and this is what we did. My cabling guy (very smart fella) suggested something else. At the time I was too chicken to do it on the other floors, but I did agree to try it on one floor. Here's what we did:
He ran Cat5 (at the time, that was standard) connections in 48 cable bunches from an adjacent wall into the switch. They had RJ-45 connections so that they could plug in, and they were all nice and neat. On the other end, they plugged in to a series of punch down blocks (kind of like you see in a phone room for telephone structured cabling). These, in turn, were cross connected to floor locations on another punch down block that went to the floor locations. Now, whenever we wanted to make a connection live, we simply had to connect the correct CAT5 jumper wire from one punch down block to the other. You never touch the actual ports in the switch. They just stay where they are. All alterations are done on the punch down blocks. This keeps things nice and neat and there's no fiddling with cables in the switch area. Any time you need to put in a new blade, you just harness up 48 more cables (we called them pigtails) and put them in the new blade.
NOTE: You could do the exact same thing with patch panels instead of punch down blocks, but with higher densities, it's a bit easier to use the blocks and takes up much less space.
    ADVANTAGES:
    * Very neat cable design at the switch side.
    * Never have to squeeze patch cables in and out.
    * Easy to trace cables (but just better to document them and you'll never have to trace them).
    * Makes moves, adds, and changes (particularly adds) very easy.
    DISADVANTAGES:
    * Not sure that you can do it with CAT6.
    * You have to get a punch down tool and actually punch cables (not too bad though after you do a few).
    * You need to make sure that you don't deprecate the rating on the cable by improperly terminating it (i.e. insufficient twists)
Anyway, I haven't had a need to do this in a while and I no longer work at the same place, but my biggest concern would be if that meets with the CAT6 spec. Not sure about that, but your cabling person could probably tell you.
I'm not a big fan of decentralizing the switches to remote locations. It can become cumbersome and difficult to manage if you end up with a lot of them. Also, it doesn't scale well and can end up with port waste (i.e. you have 24 servers in one cabinet on one switch and then along comes 25; you now have to buy another 12 or 24 port switch to service the need with either 11/23 ports going to waste -- not good).
Good luck. Let us know how you make out. I'd be glad to go in to more detail if the above isn't explained well enough.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • Wiring question for MSI8800GT512OC

I have tried to see if this has been asked previously so as not to clutter up this site with repeat questions but I haven't been able to find it so here goes...I recently bought the MSI NX8800GT 512OC video card and I noticed when I was installing it that right next to the spot where the PCI-E power connector hooks on to the card there is a small two prong/pin connector sticking straight up off the circuit board.  It almost looks like the pins you find on a motherboard that you use to short/reset the CMOS.  I'm just wondering if this is something that needs to be hooked up to something or not.  I'm not talking about the SLI edge connection, I know what that looks like.  I should state that the GPU is installed and working great (I love it) so I'm assuming whatever these pins do it's not critical to the operation of the card.  Any help on the subject would be appreciated.  Thanks

It doesn't matter which scheme you use.  The reason is that, with all CAT5/RJ45 cables and connectors, the only thing that matters is that pins 1 - 8 on the RJ45 connector on one end of the cable are conected to pins 1- 8 of the RJ45 on the other end.  The colors of the individual wires is irrelevant.
The main reason the colors are used is for people who build custom length cables during installation: they often put one RJ45 on one end of the cable and then go to a different location to put the other RJ45 on.  In this situation you have to know what color wire goes with what pin, so there was a standard wire color arrangement developed so that everyone knew what wire goes where.
Most crimpers, which is the tool used to physically attach an RJ45 connector to a CAT5 cable, have printed on them the wire color/pin pairs - but even this can vary by crimper.
Bottom line: it's not the colors that matter - it's what wire goes with what pin.

  • E2000 dual band question for a noob

Can the e2000 use 2.4ghz for my laptop but use 5ghz for my wife's laptop.I know the band is selectable but what I am trying to find out is can I tell the router to use a specific band for each laptop.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The E2000 is a dual band single radio router. You can select either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. But as it is single radio only you can only operate on one frequency but not both at the same time.

  • Question for Forum Hosts

Sorry, this is a question for you about how this forum works or what options I am supposed to use, versus being a new problem... I couldn't find a "Contact Us" link to get this question to you any other way.
I posted a message (marked as a question), "Wireless-G Card causes Tecra 730CDT to Hang," on February 14th. I got a reply from "Quad" and I then replied to that reply (and marked it "still not answered"). The now 3-part message was on the main forum list for about 1/2 day and then it disappeared from it completely. I can do a search and find the original message and the 2 replies, but they are not on the main list.
I can't figure out why it is not on the main forum list. Did I do or say something wrong so it was dropped from the list? Did I fail to do some step or check some box that is required before it can return to the list?
I really would like the original message and replies back on the main forum list, as I still have the same problem and am hoping someone will see it and provide a solution to my problem. Please advise.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

    Hi Ivan,
First, thank you very much for clearing up what I thought was a mystery of my disappearing posting. Basically, I thought my problem belonged in the TE and Tecra Series forum (what I thought of as the "main page") and was dismayed when I couldn't find it in there. Yes, the Wireless Board is definitely the more appropriate spot.
Secondly, thank you too for your opinion on my attempt at jamming Wireless-G onto my old laptop. I am seeing that you and Quad must be correct... the fact that the 730CDT works so well with my 10/100 wired card made me feel it could handle everything.
I have to admit I have never tried slower Wireless-B. Technology has moved so fast and prices have dropped so much that it was cheaper to buy a brand new boxed kit (router and card) for Wireless-G than it was to buy an old Wireless-B set up... I got caught up in getting the best deal instead of making the best technology match.
I will close this question on "where's my posting?" but will leave the original "730CDT Hang" posting alive for awhile longer.
    Many thanks again,
    Wayne

  • Please answer a programming question for an admin

I'm not a programmer (although my interest is growing), so I can't answer this question in a discussion regarding how Win32API w/OLE and COM is SO much better than programming for Unix/OS X applications.
The original discussion was in regards to OS X's superior Unix based security, he devolved to this. Having only begun my venture into programming, his questions are a little above my head at this point. I'm also interested (as an amature programmer), how this would be accomplished in OS X/Unix.
    Thanks in advance.
    Here's his position:
    *(1st entry)*
I have unsed Windows and many flavors of Unix and I have written programs in Assembler, Fortran, Pascal, Cobol, RPG, Smalltak, Basic, PowerBuilder, Delphi, C, C++, C#, Java, and Perl, and I have been programming for over 20 years, so I do have extensive knowledge about programming.
So I have one question for you:
If you had to build a business application that has to allow users to, spell and grammer check, and perform financial calculations, and render the HTML, how would you compare the effort to do this in Windows versus that in Linux, AIX, Solaris or any other Unix operating system?
I can make this business application have these features in ONE DAY on Windows, because COM and OLE lets me, use Word to spell and grammer check, Excel to do the financial calculations, and IE to render the HTML!
I make my living building complex customized business software, and Windows allow me to build these applications by myself in weeks, when it would take me and a team of programmers months to do these same things in Unix because of the lack of an the Win32 API, COM, and OLE, or I would have to BUY third party libraries that did these things, and deal with the licensing, versioning, and vendor problems that go with them, and none of those third party librabries would be close to Word, Excel, and IE in CAPABILITY!
HONESTLY tell me and others reading this thread how you would go about create the customized business application I described above by yourself in a Unix instead of Windows, and tell us how many MONTHS or YEARS it would take you, or how you would have to BUY some other third party libraries to do what Word, Excel, and IE!
Anyone who thinks a Unix has more CAPABILITIES than Windows, has never used Win32API/COM/OLE/.Net, and does not build customized complex business software for a living, because we people that do are the reason that you find some much customized business desktop software for Windows, and so little for any Unix.
I have nothing against Unix, and it is great for simple business tasked server software, but for complex business tasked desktop software Windows with Win32API/COM/OLE/.Net wins hands down!
    *(2nd Entry)*
A System administrators view of an operating system and an application developers view are entirely different, and the Win32API/COM/OLE/.NET simply make my job so much easier, and you simply don't understand because you do not have to deal with the "dirty' details of making what a user wants, which is why your definition of "integration" and mines are totally different!
With the spell check you talked about, how will you keep in in synch with the dictionary in Word where the user is constantly adding and removing words?
No, you would have the user to have to maintain two different spell check dictionaries, and you would totally ignore the grammer check requirement!
Cutting and pasting data between applications is simple integration, and not the complex type that I am talking about.
Can you make your application display and use the MacGourmet menus appear in its own window, and to access and use the MacGourmet functionality (ie. search for a recipe) in its own window?
Give me one example of a Unix application that can display the menus of another application, yet alone control its features!
Of course you can't, because you need COM and OLE!
I am quite familiar with different flavors of Unix, but those operating systems do not have the rich API and program integration features namely COM and OLE that Windows has, because it violates the Unix idea of security by process isolation!
Yes that idea of process isolation keeps the operating system safe from malicious code in applications and from one application taking the others down, but you lose the power of programs working together, and you simply cannot build the type of customized business applications that I build by myself, without reinventing the wheel over and over and without having a large team with lots of programmers.
For example, my customers and millions of others spend all day working in Word and Excel, and the Windows idea that I can transparently integrate my complex business applications right in Word and Excel menu, and into their templates and macros, is why third party developers like me prefer Windows over Unix, regardless of how much better security in Unix is.
Do not get me wrong, Java improves business application development on Unix, but unfortuantely it is not feasable to rewrite ever legacy application in Java, and Java does not integrate well with other programming languages.
I used to code business application for both IBM MVS and Sun Solaris, and I never want to go back to those "bad" old days again, once I took the time to learn how to PROPERLY code using Win32API/COM/OLE/.NET!

At risk of feeding the troll I'll wander in here:
NOTE: Since this is an Apple programming boards and I have limited experience programming on traditional Unix systems (and most of that in college) I will confine my answers to the area I know.
Note that this scenario assumes the user has Microsoft office installed. The person argues that they don't have to purchase libraries to program but what they are effectively doing is simply transferring that cost to user. I don't have to purchase libraries but everyone of my users needs to. Good for you, very good for Microsoft but bad for your customer - IMHO. OK, I know "But all Windows business users have Office installed already." When it comes free with the system then I'll retract my objection.
Under OS X and Cocoa many of these functions are intrinsic to the system layer and do not require any applications to be installed. Using Cocoa you can write a simple Word processor that has rulers, full font manipulation (including kerning, spacing and leading), Document Save and Load, Printing, Export to PDF as well as spell-checking in under 10 lines of actual code. Adding a custom file type and icon for full system integration will add another 5 minutes to your programing.
In case you think I'm blowing smoke here is a tutorial from 2002 (yes, this has been possible for over 5 years) outlining the 8 line Word Processor build in Cocoa. http://www.stone.com/TheCocoa_Files/What_s_sofunny.html
And yes, Cocoa also includes Webkit so I can add full HTML rendering by dragging in a WebKit window to my user interface. For an experienced Cocoa programmer this certainly sounds like less than a day of programming - in fact it sounds like a good tutorial for a middle-experienced training day or 2 day class in Cocoa.
I won't include the link to the 1 line web browser you can build in Cocoa using Webkit because it's shorter than the description. Feel free to search for it if you want to.
HONESTLY tell me and others reading this thread how you would go about create the customized business application I described above by yourself in a Unix instead of Windows, and tell us how many MONTHS or YEARS it would take you, or how you would have to BUY some other third party libraries to do what Word, Excel, and IE!
BUT this is all done from the stock system that is on every OS X computer not simply those with Office installed. Obviously you'd need to add some features that were more complicated than this - because any halfway decent programmer could turn this stuff out - and polish takes a while but to meet the requirements of the challenge it would take 2 days tops.
Is every *nix programming environment like this? I don't know I can only answer for the system that I have experience with and is the concern of this board. If you really have questions regarding *nix programming then I suggest you find an appropriate board and troll^H^H^H^H^H ask there.
If you're ever serious about programming on the Mac feel free to stop by and actually take a look at it. I think you'll be surprised.

  • 'Genius' related question for anyone with over 1.2TB of music?

Anyone out there with a iTunes library with over 1.2TB of music?
Reason I ask, is that I've not been able to solve a problem in updating Genuis - I'm getting the error - 'Genius results can't be updated right now. There is not enough memory available ~ Please try again later.' or the 'unknown 4002 error'.  The steps I've taken to try and correct sometime back can be found in https://discussions.apple.com/message/12584815#12584815 and also shown here in sequence below.
I keep thinking this will be fixed with the next version iTunes but so far with the latest, things still the same.  So looking to see if anyone with a similar size library is having similar problems and it just a limitation of the program or it's something specific on my end that I can fix.
    Appreciate...
Up to this weekend I've had not issues with Genius. Worked beautifully and updated last Sunday as I have been doing every week since Apple added Genius. Yesterday I added a few albums and went to update and now getting the error of 'Genius results can't be updated right now. There is not enough memory available ~ Please try again later.' Now my library is well over >200,000 songs and only added 6 albums this time. Music sits on a external 2TB drive ~100GB free and my MacBook Pro has over 60GB open. Running latest Mac OSX and latest iTunes. Nothing new installed or changed since last Genius update.
To the points raised in this thread.
    1. I've been updated weekly with a Library with over 200K songs till now with no problem. Majority is what I've ripped from my albums & CDs.
    2. Deleted the albums recently added since last successful update - same result.
    3. Connected directly to the network bypassing router as suggested here - same result.
    4. Reinstalled iTunes program - same result.
    5. Repaired permissions - same result.
Problem remains. Welcome any additional thoughts.
Question for anyone with a music library
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/12584815#12584815
Ok, tried all the suggestions here yet the problem remains.
In addition what I posted above -
    1) Dumped the cookies in user/library/cookies folder
    2) Deleted the apple cookies found under Safari Preferences "Show Cookies"
    3) Repaired disk permissions
    4) Deleted iTunes Library Genius.itdb file
    5) Reinstalled iTunes (with the new 10.1 version)
    6) Restarted computer
    7) Rebuilt iTunes Library folder http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
    8) Deleted all iTunes dead tracks
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=removedeadsuper
    9) Increased internet access speed
    10) Removed all open "[" and '}' brackets from songs, albums & artists
    10) Rebuilt my entire library from scratch!
Is there anyone out there with over 200K songs that can update their Genius? One thing I noted is the genuis.itdb file is just over 2GB. I'm wondering if there is a maximum size on this based on the error I'm getting. Any thought or know info on this?
Ok, think I may have found something here with this. I backed out all the music added prior to this problem occurring and ran the Genius update. All worked fine. I then started adding the music back little by little (running the update each time) until the problem returned. When the problem came back I ruled out the specific music added by backing that bit out, verified all was ok and added a different batch back in.
Bottom-line it appears that when my library exceeds exactly 1.208TB the problem appears. Interestingly enough it does not appear to be related to the number of songs, the size of the genius.itdb file (in fact when it was working the file was at 2.25GB - larger than what I reported before). It specifically seems to be related to the size of the overall library - when I have it for example at 1.2079 all is ok, 1.2081 it fails with this error.
I did try moving the library and related files to the external drive but same result. abavetta, I think your suggestion of this script may be a workaround for now - although from what I read, is this not the same that you can do anyway with iTunes by holding the alt/option key open start up? In fact I do have two libraries now - one with the 2TB drive which I use at home and another for 2x500GB disks I carry with me when i travel. I just reported the same back to Apple but doubt if any immediate solution will come for this. Too bad as one of the great things about having such a large library is the mixes you can generate via Genius. Anyway, such is life and will just live with this for now. I also just found this program called Tangerine! http://www.potionfactory.com/tangerine/ which creates playlists like Genius - although through a different technique I might also take a look at.

Just to let all know that may be having a similar problem, what I found by accident to fix this problem.
Reset all my Home Folder permissions using the resetpassword method from the startup utility in Lion.  Then turned off/on to reset Genius and cleaned out the cache folder for good measure.  Finally after more than a year without, have Genius up and running again.

  • Firewire question for 30" Cinema Display

Hooked up display this afernoon. AWESOME. Have a question about the firewire that comes off the display -- there is a plug-in for the power adapter, the DVI, the USB and the firewire. oddly, the firewire does not fit into any of the three firewire ports on the PowerMac G5. This is one of the first models -- had to upgrade graphics card -- checked another G5 which is newer model --- same firewire ports. It appears only to have 3 gold spots inside (3 pins?) Anyone can shed any light on how I plug this in? Display works great without it --- am I guessing that without this plugged in I can't use the firewire ports on the actual display?
Emailing me at [email protected] is always an option. Thanks.

If you are really serious about electrical shielding in the room you may want to consider a fibre-optic DVI link

For the DC power, if you can't find a matching connector, just cut the cable and use your own connectors and wire to make an extension. Presumably, you have to run the wires through a filter where they enter the shielded room, so a ready-made extension cable wouldn't be enough, anyway.
Have you checked for electrical radiation from the display itself? It may need some metal mesh in front of the screen, attached to the metal case all around.

  • Thinking about switching to Intel Mac Mini... questions for the cognoscenti

    Greetings:
I've been checking out the new Intel Mac Minis and I was thinking of purchasing one to replace my AV computer (PC) in the living room, which the GF currently uses. She's a typical user: watches video files/DVDs, uses iTunes excessively , sends web email and surfs the Net.
I've fairly decided on an Intel Core Duo Mini. Since I know the basics about Mac, I had a few questions:
    1. What's an appropriate amount of RAM for a non-power user? Would 1 GB be more than enough or overkill? I'm used to running 1GB in a Windows machine. Plus, I'm also used to popping in memory when I needed to upgrade, and I see that's not really an option on the Mini.
    2. How would I integrate it into a Windows network? Would the Mini be able to share files with a Windows machine and vice versa?
    3. Regarding network integration: how easily would the Mini integrate into an existing Linksys 802.11g home network?
Lastly, this isn't really an (easily) answerable question, but how easy do you think it would be for an average computer user to get up and running on a Mac after having used Windows machines all their life?
Thanks, I look forward to your responses.

Hello, I can only really answer Q's 1 & 3 as I've only owned a mini for the past 24 hours.
I purchased the Single Core after taking advice of the Apple Store staff in Manchester, they were quite helpful. I only really produce music (have used Ableton, Acid Pro etc on PC for quite a while), surf the web, do my banking etc so was advised that the Single Core with 512mb would be sufficent. I work for an ISP and have 10 years plus knowledge of Windows but I was prepared to listen and learn having never used a mac before. From my own experience, I'm used to having to use a pc with minimum spec ie min 1.2GHz processor, 1gb ram in order to produce music without any pops or clicks (latency), though sound cards also play a part. I've also had to keep internet activity well away from any PC that I produce music on in that respect. Anyhow, I'm going off on a tangent here but I was playing around with garageband last night and I've never known music production to run so smoothy on 512mb RAM, never known it before so was extremely impressed and certain I made the right purchase opting for Solo Core. You may not actually NEED the full 1gb though this depends what you're doing. To answer your other question, my mac slotted straight into my home nertwork without making any additional configuration.
i.e how long does it take to get used to a mac, I've found there is a learning curve but it's not THAT difficult, it's just the odd thing such as no right click of the mouse that takes some getting used to.

  • Suggestions for disks from Power Mac G4 Tower?

    Hello fellow Mac users,
I still have the complete disk set for my old Power Mac G4 desktop system (it died and I've moved on to two MacBook Pros). Any suggestions for what I should do with them?
    Thanks for the advice

Suggest you join LEM-Swap for buying & selling Mac stuff. http://groups.google.com/group/lemswap After you join, post a FS (For Sale). Be specific about what model G4 they came with, because they may only work with that model.

  • TOP questions for Eseries devices - not so new!

Just noticed that the thread titled:
TOP questions for Eseries devices - start here [new]
Really isn't so new dated 30-Cot-2007 11:48 AM - last edited on 30-Oct-2007 11:48 AM
The post suggests that the first thing to do is update to the latest version of software.
Alas the last update for E72 was 27 October 2010 which is flawed!  I know as my phone has misbehaved since installing it and I see other users reporting similar if not the same issues here.
    *#0000# reports version 052.005.217.11
Question - How does one down grade to previous version?
The post then suggests "If you still experience problems, you can try if formatting your Eseries device helps. Format the device by dialling *#7370#. The device will request a security code, the default code is 12345 unless you have changed it."
Well actually on the E72 this does nothing!  I Type in *#7370# and its displayed to me and nothing else happens.  If I enter *#0000# I get the version number so it seems the software/firmware does not understand the code above!
I did try 'factory settings' option from one of the control panel menu's instead at some point of my misery but was surprised by just how little effect that had - many things were not reset.
If your still reading, I thought I would share some steps I have found to sometimes help on E72 when it appears to hang / stall:
    1. Try holding down the home button and if the running applications bar is shown try closing the applications by pressing the delete (backspace) key.
2.- If that fails try pressing the off button and selecting 'offline' mode - This sometimes works - if it does then try previous point before going back to an online mode such as 'general'.
    3. If that fails - try holding down the power button to turn device off - that sometimes works! But sometimes the keyboard lights simply stay on until the battery goes dead...
    4. Remove the battery wait a moment and then re-insert battery.  You may then have to enter the time and date. Do check your alarms - during GMT I noticed all my alarms would have incremented by an hour!  Not seen this since BST started.

Very strange - or perhaps not that strange but just another issue....  I tried the Hard Reset code again at this time it worked!!!  I'm now re-entering my details and remembering what I didn't back up   But if it fixes my issues it will be worth it.
FYI from another fine post I found:
    FOR SOFT-RESET:
    - at Standby Screen type-in => *#7780#
It will ask for “Restore all phone settings-phone’ll restart….”
Then it asks for security code enter factory default => 12345
    FOR HARD-RESET:
    - at Standby Screen type-in => *#7370#
It will ask for “Restore all phone settings-phone’ll restart….”
Then it asks for security code enter factory default => 12345
FOR FLASHING- TOTAL RESTORE: (Do this if your phone does not boot up)
    1) Remove the battery, and then wait for about 20 min or so before putting it back
    2) Press and hold these three keys together -Green dial key, Star key[*], Three key [3]
    3) switch ON the phone.
    4) Do not let go the three keys until you see the WELCOME screen displayed and just let it complete the boot process

  • Questions for I/O interface experts

I have few questions for I/O interface experts:
I have a Power Mac G5 2.3 Ghz 8GB of RAM, PCI-X slots, and am running Final Cut Studio FC version 6. I currenly have an HD project on my timeline (uploaded directly form a P2 card via 400FW), and I'd like to be able to output on a HD VTR deck as wellas a BetacamSP deck:
    1) which AjA Kona cards (3, LHe, LH) is right for me?
    2) did you personally experience, or are you aware of any issues with this Kona card and Final Cut version 6? Any tips before I purchase?
    3) will this card allow me to output uncompressed HD, that is, the same quality I uploaded?
    4) in which of the slots on my back tower does it go? 64bit 100MHz or 64bit 133MHz?
    Cheers,
    Rinaldo

I think FireWire is probably the best route.
The main difference between the two seem to be that the 1814 has more inputs and the ADAT interface, the 410 has more outputs.
So are you planning on recording, then go for the 1814.
If you envision that 2 mics and 2 inputs is enough for your recording needs and you eventually want to mix surround you'd need the 410 as it is the one with enough outputs.
If you want specific advice about interfaces I suggest you ask in the Logic forums as those users would be most experienced with this aspect of an audio system.

  • Moving average price for finished goods

    Hi All
I am using moving average price for finished goods.  My question is, Does the price on the material master record adjusts, when we do goods receipt on a production order( If there are variances)?
    here is a scenario:
Moving avrage price  of finished goods=2$ and total stock =1
it has two components in the Bom
    Raw1-3$
    Raw2-3$
Now when I am producing 1 qy of finished goods with 6 $ of Raw materials, moving average price of fert should  be 6+2/2=4 $. But I noticed the moving average price  in the material master record is not changing.
My question is, Does the MVP changes with production order goods receipt, If so, what setting should I change to acheive that functionality.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Guys
    Thanks for responding
I am aware that sap does not recommend MAP for finished goods. But we have a weird requirement. And I am doing a demo on this. My thought on MAP is, It changes for every goods receipt. But when I am doing goods receipt on production order, It is not changing the MAP, Even though there is variance on production order. So, My question is, Did I miss any configuration ?
