system is rock solid through overnight stress testing at my current speed/timings, so i didnt complain
Yeah, it often happens, that the system runs fine during stress tests, but has problems to boot-up properly when there are memory related problems (initialization problems).

do you think my memory is defective in some way?
Not necessarely defective.  The question is what the native speed/timing ratings of the memory chips look like.  Also, DDR3-1066 is actually the max. memory speed that your CPU's memory controller natively supports (according to Intel Specifications).  So it is good to start testing here (does not cost anything and is not risky either).  If the system starts fine @lower memory clock speeds, we will know more.

  • X58 Pro not POSTing correctly

    Hi,
My new install X58 Pro system powers up OK, all fans running, DVD and HDs spinning up but I get no video output and the machine powers back to standby after about 2-3 minutes.
    A couple of noob questions:
    - For a single video card which PCI-Express should I use (I'm using PCI_E2 - i.e. top X16 one)?
    - Is there a list of any POST codes (beeps etc.) and/or can an Post LED be added (like on the X58 Eclipse)?
I have tried reseating the RAM (using the black slots), tried with just one stick in A0 and disconnected all but CPU, Keyboard and fans.  Same problem each time - 2-3 minutes of activity without video and then auto-shuts down to standby mode (yellow power light).
All power connectors on board are being used (8 pin and 24 pin).
I will try removing the board from the case this evening and running on a cardboard box instead.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    System details are:
Antec P-180 Case (3X Case Fan)
    OCZ - 750W PSU (Can't remember model but a recent expensive one - $100)
    X58 Pro
    Core i7 920
    OCA Gold 6Gb 3 * 2Gb DDR3 1600
    Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler + 120mm Fan
    eVGA GeForce 8800GTS card

Hi JustBGood, & welcome to the forum. I didn't see any beep codes in the manual, just the LED Status Indicator section on pages 2-27 & 2-28. The X58 Pro doesn't have the pinheader for attaching the D-LED2. With just one mem. stick in slot A0 (black), & CMOS cleared (with power cord removed), set XMP disabled, Spread Spectrum disabled, Mem. Ratio to 4, Uncore to 8, & retest for boot. Yes, use the PCI-E slot closest to the CPU (PCI_E2) for your graphics card.

  • MSI 975X Power Up Edition V2.1 Issue Beside Overclocking After Flash New Bios

    Hi all,
I hope I can get a lot of help here. I'm having a few issues with this board. I cannot find any thread that discuss other issue beside overclocking after you flash a new bios. Here are my problem:
    1.  I installed fresh WindowsXP with SP2. Windows cannot detect new usb device eventhough WindowsXP recognized the usb controller. If I plugin any usb device, windows does not detect a new device. I try to stick a USB flash and I can see the light for a few seconds but Windows cannot detect it. Before I upgrade the bios to version 715 (beta), I used usb flash to upgraded it. Now, the bios is not even boot from usb flash.
    2. Other things that concern me, the southbridge chipset is really really hot. If you touch it long enough, it will burn you.
    3. I cannot figure it out the front audio from manual book (JAUD1). Is any of you know where the mic needs to go?
    Thanks

I removed the Big Typhoon from the MB and I replace with stock fan.  I want to make sure the back plate from Big Typhoon doesn't cause any problem.  When I bootup the windows, I saw WindowsXP recognized the USB device but it disappeared again. I took the MB out from the case and test it without a case. It stills does not recognize the usb. Somebody mention bad PSU(Power Supply Unit) may cause a lot wierd problem. I changed PSU from RaidMax Vocalno 630W to Ultra X-Finity 500W. I don't have a lot of stuff that require power. Do you think the PSU cause this issue?
This is list of my comp:
MSI 975x Platinum PowerUp Edition V2.1
    Conroe E6600 Retail
    Seagate 300G SATAII
    Maxtor 120G IDE 100
    Asus 16X DVD-ROM
    NEC 3550A DVD-RW
    Ultra X-Finity 500W
    120 mm Fan
    80 mm Fan
    Big Typhoon
FYI: USB Controller and USB 2 Controller are enabled in BIOS.

  • MSI DR8 not found after flashing MB BIOS

Okay alll, I have a problem. Everything was working fine for me, then I went along and upgraded (via Live Update) to the new 1.40 BIOS for my K8TNeo-FISR2 MB. Now I'm having issues with my DVD burner (MSI DR8). Here's what happens:
After I reset my CMOS settings by jumping JBAT1, I go in to my Standard CMOS Features, and listed as the Primary IDE device (it's the only IDE device I have) is ATAPI DVD/CD 8x. That's great, what it should be. So, I go in and edit my boot order so that it will boot from my RAID set and make a few other changes (set the time, disable the Promise RAID controller, disbale QuickBoot and the LOGO page because I'm trying to troubleshoot), Save and Exit. It boots up into Windows XP (though it takes a lot longer now than before I upgraded the BIOS), but XP does not see the DVD drive. So, I shut down and go into Setup and now there is no Primary IDE Device found. If I manually set it to CD/DVD I lock up right after it performs the memory test.
I tried backing down to the 1.2 verison of the BIOS which I was running before but that didn't help at all. ANY ideas on what is going on here? I did *NOT* flash the DVD firmware, so that shouldn't be the issue. What really trips me up is the fact that it finds it correctly upon resetting the CMOS.
    Please help!
    Bob

At a idle my cpu with this board and HT enabled, 3.06 P4 runs around 50C but under heavier load it will get to 60C or so. I hope this doesnt shorten its life. However I have been overclocking my P4 to 3381.54 (Reported from WCPUID) and seem to be VERY VERY stable with conventional cooling. I am using an Thermaltake Volcano cpu fan on the "Medium" setting. Which is kind of loud. Once I change it to "Low" it wont cool as well and the temp rises. I would like to know the "recommended" temp for a P4 but cant find a DECENT answer. Even from:
    http://support.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/thermal.htm#Specifications
it doesnt say from X to X should be ok. Thats what I really need to know. I am now thinking about going to watercooling to keep this chip in check, get higher speeds and lower noise. Although the case is full now as it is with 2 DVD burners, a CDR burner, 6 Hard Drives and 3 PCI slots full!

  • Processes Not Posting After Maintenance

    Hi,
Periodically, processes will go to Not Posted status after we bounce the servers during our maintenance window. Usually, bouncing the process scheduler and clearing the cache does the trick. However, one in a blue moon, jobs simply will not post. We will spend hours bouncing servers, clearing caches, etc. and nothing works. Then a couple of hours later everything will start to post.
Any familiar experiences or thoughts on why this occurs?

The maintenance varies from week to week; it's generally OS-level patching that doesn't require a reboot. I've got an experienced Tech Arch team taking the servers up and down, so I'm confident that the servers are being bounced correctly.
In the past, when reports have not posted after maintenance we have shut down the process scheduler and cleared cache and reports started posting. More recently, we've bounced the servers for several hours only to have reports start posting on their own afterwards.
I pulled the stdout log and found the following:
Java exception thrown: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused (errno:239)
HTTP Status Code is: 900 (63,72)
Error getting report repository location. (63,85)
    SchedulerTransfer Servlet error. (63,74)

  • What to do with bricked motherboard? MSI P67A-G45 AFTER FLASHING LAST BIOS

I flashed MSI P67A-G45 by the last BIOS for IB CPU. The flashing goes twice with intermediate reset. Before I flashed P67A-C43 by the same version from MSI, and all was Ok.
I flashed new BIOS from version 1I under DOS mode. There was a problem with pen drive and I used hard disk without USB pen drive. That was my error. The exe file started and flashed BIOS  normally and then after reset started flashing Intel ME firmware. I thought all is going ok and the image is taken from HDD. But after the process finished and motherboard reset, it didn't start at all. The fan starts and stops, LED blinks and motherboard behaves the same way even without CPU. What can I do? Is there any way, suppose, using a EEPROM writer? I have one and I can take the BIOS chip off and flash by old version of BIOS. What can You advise? Maybe the second flash process writes another chip - can You tell me about it. Please advise how to manage this problem.
I received no help from support. I'm not a novice - I work in repair center and have soldering station etc. Can You explain me anything about second flashing process? I need only information and I will be able to manage th :lol_anim:is problem.

  • T60 Flash New BIOs freeze

T60 running win xp pro. I downloaded thinkvantage system upgrade and ran it. It froze on "Flash new BIOs". What now?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

flashing a new bios can be risky, if your system isn't stable you can end up destroying your system board. Make sure you have a valid reason for updating the bios, don't do it just because you can, and when you do update it, do it manually not automated. run ONLY the update program with nothing else, not through system update. It would also be wise to disconnect from the net so there is nothing else going on in the background that could cause a crash.
Also make sure you have a constant source of ac power and a fully charged battery.

  • System does not post after Bios Flash

After using Live Update to flash my Bios to the new version, the computer does not POST. The Bios Flash was successful - it rebooted and started normally. When I tried to restart it the normal way, it will not boot. The fans run when the "power on" button is pressed but nothing more. I cleared the CMOS using the jumpers but the problem was not solved. Can any one help?
Can some good Samaritan give me a step by step method to resolve this problem?

I followed the link you provided and managed to resolved it:
    1) Removed one memory stick and floppy;
    2) Cleared CMOS and rebooted successfully;
    3) Inserted floppy and reverted to the previous BIOS;
    4) Inserted the other memory stick and brought system back to full power again.
Thank you very much for your assistance. I am sure MSI is aware of the problem and will take steps to rectify it ASAP

  • MSI 770T-C45 won't post after flashing BIOS with M-FLASH

After flashing AMIBIOS 8.3 to v8.7 with M-FLASH via USB stick I can't get any post.
Had I read this forum before I wouldn't have done it, but here I am.
Fan starts, LEDs are off, no beeps at all, power button does nothing. Black screen.
After force flashing (yes, I am THAT stupid) the prompt said it would reboot in 5 seconds and after that nothing.
    Here's my setup:
    Board: MSI 770T-C45
    Original Bios: v8.3
Flashed Bios:  v8.7 (flashed with M-FLASH)
VGA:   EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
    PSU:   Enermax FMAII EG465AX-VE 460W
    CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9650
    MEM: Kingston DDR2-667 4x2GB KVR667D2N5/2G
    HDD: SAMSUNG 840 SSD 250GB
    OS: Windows 8 Pro 64bit
I tried every CMOS clearing method found in previous posts and threads (including this and this.)
    1. Unplugged from power, waited 5 minutes, removed the battery (5mins), changed jumper position (5min), switched it back (5min), plugged it in (5min) and powered up with and without USB stick in the hub next to network hub with old BIOS (v8.3) inside. Pressed CTRL+HOME, anything, not a single message or beep or LED flashing.
Also I removed all RAMs and kept one in the first socket. Nothing.
I really don't know what to do next. What seems to differ from other users is LEDs non working, what does that mean?

The problem here is that after update 8.6 the m-flash module was updated, so yes your mobo is a brick, but there is still hope for it. I had the same situation a few days ago with the exact same model and was able to recover it by following the steps on listed on the below posts:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=133578.0
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=129989.0
It may seem complicated at first, but trust me its not at all.
Anyways you probably already have another mobo, send it for RMA or used it as frisbee, but it may come handy for some other doing the same noob flashing as we did

  • X58 PRO NO BOOT AFTER IOH HEAT FIX.

Hello everyone, I have a strange problem with my x58 platinum setup after fixing the heat issue with the ioh.
My board says ms 7522 rev 3.1. My booklet and package says x58 pro but greenpower says platinum.
Running core i7 920 with 3 gigs of ocz 1066 ddr3 all in black slots, vista home premium sp1, msi ati 3450 hd graphics card, thermaltake v1 cooler, antec 680w iceburg psu,3x320 seagate barracuda 7200.11 harddrives, nzxt
sentry 5 fan cooler control and lg dvd/lightscribe writer.
I had ioh idle temps in the 70c range and near 80c at load so I read the threads in the forum and carefully removed
the heatsinks. cleaned off the hard white and dry tmi. Reapplied correct thermal compound. Plugged everything back in and when I turned it on all I got was a quick hdd light blink and no post,no display. I might have mixed up the order of the sata drives on the board so i've tried to switch them all to other ports and to no avail.
I cleared cmos with power off and unplugged several times with each sata port change and it's the same thing.
Power on just the fans and all leds come on but no hdd light and no boot. Leds on my graphics card slot are on and the cpu leds are all on and green light on board is on. Maybee it's my boot sequence from the drives that are
out of order. The system was a little touchy but for the most part stable and working fine before fixed the ioh.
I am an electronics guy and repair amplifiers and radios and I deal with Blown voltage regulators and output chips
all the time so I'm not unfamilliar with this kind of repair. I wore a static strap and had the board on a non conductive surface. Sorry so long but I wanted to give as much info as poss. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Well, tried all sata combos that I could out of the drives and no results. To answer your question earlier. the black ring is in tact under the heatsink and I did not see any tim overflow to the surrounding area. Also it doesn't even
trigger the monitor to come on and no beeps from system speaker. Checked all connections and everything seems to be solid. Is there a way to wipe bios and harrdrives and basically start over? I unplugged all hdds to see if I would get a screen and nothing. I've turned the thing off and on so much in different combos that I'm worried about it totally fragmenting the drives with bad sectors that it wouldn't boot even if I found the right order.
The way my luck goes I probably fried it. Thanks again.

  • HDR is not working after a new installation of Photoshop

After a system crash of my computer I had to reinstall all programms. In the past I made a lot of HDR pictures, I will say I know what i have to do. But after the new installation of PS when I merge some photos with HDR pro the result is much more darker then the darkest of the braketing photos, and there is no way in the ACR (adobe camera raw) to get an acceptable result. I will show you screen prints:
Do you have a solution for this?

  • 785GTM-E45 not POSTing after a week (Need help)

    Hello guys and girls,
    Good day to you.
I am new here as I just happily purchase my new MSI motherboard last week. Yay~
However, I am now currently facing problem in POSTing the PC after it was working beautifully for a week. Hope someone can help me as I have exhausted my testing/diagnostics options.
Some other infos that might be informative :-
1.) APS LED does not light anymore.
2.) No longer have successful POST beep anymore. (CPU Cooler comes on though)
3.) Of course the black screen.
4.) The last boot time, I remember seeing CMOS related error in the POST screen. After that loaded into Windows XP 32bit and I restarted the PC. Then the No POST happened.
    My PC hardware components :-
    CPU: Athlon X2 5000 (2.2GHz)
Motherboard: MSI 785GTM-E45 (ver 1.4) (No idea on how to check the BIOS as I can't even POST now)
RAM: I have 4 units working memory that I have tested to be working in this motherboard before it is not POSTing.
    a.) Kingston DDR2 667MHz (KVR667D2N5/2G) [1 Stick]
    b.) Mushkin DDR2 800MHz [1 Stick]
c.) Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066MHz 2x1GB Kit [2 Sticks] (using this one as the main before it failed to POST)
    Graphics: Using onboard
    PSU: Seasonic S12D 750W
    a.) +3.3V = 24A ; +5V = 30A. (150W)
    b.) +12V Combine = 62A (744W)
    c.) -12V = 0.8A (9.6W)
    d.) +5Vsb = 3A (15W)
Diagnostics that I have done :-
1.) Checked whether the motherboard is touching the casing which will ground it. The motherboard is screwed on the standoffs with a 1.5cm away from the case. Checked the motherboard edges, not touching the casing either. Checked whether is there any screws that are short-circuiting the motherboard, nothing there as well.
2.) Unplug the HDD and ODD. No POST as well. Plugged the HDD and ODD to another computer, it works.
3.) Triple checked the power connections in the PC. No POST. After that plugged my Seasonic PSU to another computer to test. It was working.
4.) Plugged another working PSU (Xigmatek 550W) from a working PC. Quadruple check the power connections is correct. No POST still.
5.) Test the memory DIMMs with different slots (all 4 of them). Installed one at a time and each time is in different slot. No POST still. Tried the board with NO memory, it beeps non-stop (Good news it is still working?)
6.) Did the Clear CMOS method according to manual. No POST still.
7.) Checked the monitor by plugging into another computer and see whether is it faulty. Is working.
8.) Retest all the memory DIMMs in another PC. All 4 DIMMs is working in another PC.
9.) Carefully remove the CPU and reseat the processor. After that retest all the 4 memory DIMMS (No matter which slot). No POST still.
10.) Disassemble the motherboard from the casing and other components to checked whether the capacitors are bad. Didn't detect any.
11.) Plugged in a working graphic card to check whether the onboard graphic is faulty. No POST still.
So now, I think I am left with 2 possibilities. The processor or the motherboard, however, the motherboard was the one showing symptoms based on the LED thing. So I am siding towards the motherboard is faulty?
I am out of ideas now. Hope someone can help me.

Yes, the CPU power is connected. both the 4 pins and 24 pins.
Some updates, I went to buy a Sempron 140 processor to test just for the sake whether the mobo works.. I just burnt some money on it.. it won't work.. Brought the motherboard back to the shop, they tested it and it is faulty.. so warranty claim. Guess I wont have a mobo for sometime..
Consider solved and I just burnt some money buying a spare proc which I think I wont be using also. haha.
Thanks for everyone who attempted to help me.
