Movement Types that populate total usage quantity (MGVBR) in table S031

Can anybody tell me what material movements (Movement types) populate the field 'Total Usage Quantity(MGVBR)' in table S031? Any idea how to find out these mvmt. types.

Hi,
This is the field of a report.This field represents the total usage of a material on a perticular posting date.This is updated whenever a consumption happens for the material.
It is the Total of planned and unplanned consumption.
The planned consumption is updated when goods are taken from the warehouse as a result of a reservation. The unplanned consumption is updated when goods are taken without a reservation.
In the standard of Inventory Controlling this key figure is updated at the information structures S031 und S034 at the posting date.

Hi Karthi,
Usually your questions are of a technical nature, so I assume the answer for you in this case is table /SAPSLL/TLER3B. Select where APEVS_R3 = 'MM0C', and either CUSRV_R3, GCUMA_R3 or GRIMA_R3 are not initial. The result in field BARVS_R3 contains the Movement Type and Movement Indicator (KZBEW) concatenated.

Movement type that does not register consumption

When my client regularly moves material from plant A to plant B and consumes it in the production operaiton at plant B. When they want to move excess inventory BACK from B to A it registers consumption at plant B - and makes it appear that they are consuming more than they actually are. This causes the reorder point for that material to increase and the buyers are given signals to re-order the excess material back to plant B! Is there a movement type that can be used to ship excess inventory back to the original plant, using a stock transfer order, that will not register consumption?

Hello Nethe, please tell us which is the movement type used to return the goods.
From a planning point of view it can be seen as a withdrawal of material, but it should be a transfer movement (i.e. 3xx)

If a goods movement is an goods issue and if its going to reduce the inventory stock/value (goods issue posting causes an update of the consumption statistics of the material) , then its going to be an goods consumption also - ex. issue to a cost center/order
If a goods movement does not affect the inventory value but change in stock, then its only a goods issue - ex. transfer posting
If a goods movement is not an goods issue, but it reduces the inventory stock/value, then its only a goods consumption - ex. receipt of materials in a subcontract PO, here the raw materials is assumed as consumed for the finished product receipt.

Can any of u throw some light on the various movement types that are used in SD module.

The movement type is a three-digit key used to differentiate between goods movements in the R/3
System. Examples of these goods movements are goods receipts, goods issues or transfer postings
It plays a central role in Automatic Account determination. Together with other factors Movement types determines which stock or consumption accounts are updated in Financial Accounting.
We will use the Standard Movement types of SAP..
In case as per the Business requirement if you want any new Mvt type..
then you need to COpy the Standard Mvt type in OMJJ
Please find below the list of movement types
Movement type is the movement type + 1 (reversal of 101 = 102).
101 Goods receipt for purchase order or order
If the purchase order or order has not been assigned to an account, a stock type (unrestricted-use stock, stock in quality inspection, blocked stock) can be entered during goods receipt.
If the purchase order or order has been assigned to an account, the goods receipt is not posted to the warehouse, but to consumption.
In the case of non-valuated materials, the goods receipt is posted to the warehouse, although the purchase order has not been assigned to an account.
Possible special stock indicators:
u2022 K Goods receipt for purchase order to consignment stock
u2022 O Goods receipt for purchase order to stock of material provided to vendor

This movement type cannot be entered manually.

In this case, the material produced by the supplier is credited with the excess consumption / under-consumption. For this reason, if there is a subsequent adjustment, an item is generated for the produced material using movement movement type 121.
Movement type 121 does not have a reversal movement type.

122 Return delivery to supplier or to production
Using movement type 122, you can distinguish real return deliveries for a purchase order or order from cancellations (102).
In the standard version, you must enter a reason for the return delivery if you are using movement type 122. This enables you to carry out evaluations for return deliveries.
The effects of movement type 122 correspond to a cancellation of movement type 101.

647 Goods issue for a stock transport order in one step

Unlike movement type 641 when a goods issue is posted using movement type 647, a goods receipt line (movement type 101) is generated automatically in the receiving plant. If a purchase order item is flagged as a returns item in the stock transport order, you can post the goods receipt of the returns in the issuing plant with movement type 677.

Movement type 671 (like movement types 352 and 642) reduces the receiving plant's stock in transit and increases the issuing plant's unrestricted-use stock.

If you post a goods issue for a cross-company stock transport order with returns items using movement type 643 via Shipping, the returns are transferred to unrestricted-use stock in the issuing plant in a second step using movement type 673.

Background posting in MIGO using 501 E movement type

Hi Experts,
I do have a requirement in which I have to post excess quantity to same batch , storage location and under same grid value by movement type 501 E after posting with 101 movement type is done.
I do need that after creation of a PO .
I have to do MIGO ,GR wrt PO by movement type 101.
Let PO Quantity(goitem-bsmng) be 100.
But when entered quantity in delivery note(150 ) is more than over delivery PO tolerance quantity(110) ,
then 110 should be posted as under movement type 101
and remaining 40 quantity should be posted to same storage location , batch and grid value under movement type 501 E and that too in background.
Any one if face the same situation , please help me out.

See that Mvt 311 is trf betwn st.loc to st.loc, where the goods are not leaving any valuation area, hence there's no value change, which means Accounting Documents are not created as they are not necessary.

Post extra goods recieved with 501 movement type

Hello experts,
I have a requirement that after PO, at the time of MIGO if extra quantity is received from vendor then that extra quantity should automatically get posted in background with movement type 501 and the actual quantity will work as normal.
Like: if purchase order is of 100 quantity and quantity received from vendor is 150 then at present when i am trying to post error message is coming "quantity exceeded by 50 quantity" but I want this 50 quantity should get posted with 501 movement type automatically in background.
How should I do this??

New Movement types (Urgent)

Hi,
new movement types are normally required for accounting reasons and not normally for MM reasons.
One example is the write-off movement type. The standard movement type is linked to the GL that is used by the account modifier allocated to that movement type and so whenever we use the standard write-off (scrap) movement for a material at a plant it will ALWAYS post to the same account (as long as the material and plant are the same).
But what if we want to use a different account for the same material plant combination, depending on WHY we are writing it off?
For example, if we drop the item during the process and damage it ourselves then we want to use a "loss account" that will capture the cost of this accident. But if we open the box and find that the item has been stolen, or was damaged by the vendor, we would wnat to write it off to a different account.
So we could add two new movement types, Write-off (stolen), Write-off (vendors defect) etc.
So basically wherever we want to have extra flexibility over which GL is used in standard situations we can use additional movement types (linked to different account modifiers) to achieve this.
I have not really ever seen a GENUINE need for a totally new movement type for anything other than financial reasons. After all you will not suddenly have a different type of movement in MM, they haev all been covered byu the standard (and if they haven't, then this is probably deliberate).
I did once have to generate a new movement type that would update "in-transit" stock but this was for a very special purpose and it is not one that I would ever recommend.

With the reference movement type it is used for the link between IM and WM
As the majority of decisions are made at IM level then the movement type in WM could be a generic movement type as the decision has already been made so for instance if you do a 321 in IM to release stock from status 'Q' you could have a 309 movement type in WM
The same with 322,343,344,349,350 etc.
movement type 309 in WM will work for all of these.
The 999 movement type in WM is normally used for bin to bin transfers as they are not linked to IM
If you have 100 pieces in IM which is actually 10 X 10 in WM and you want to move 10 from one bin to another then 999 is used and there is no link to IM as IM does not care where you put them. IM is only concerned when you increase stock or decrease stock or change the status of stock and these have specific movement types that are initiated in IM. Moving stock from bin to bin in WM has no affect in IM as the total is still 100

             -> Entering a Customer Return
" Entering a Customer Return
Since returns from the customer are usually examined, the quantity
returned is first posted to blocked stock returns. As is the case with
goods receipt blocked stock, blocked stock returns are neither valuated
nor do they count as unrestricted-use stock.
If an examination proves that the returned quantity should be taken over
into unrestricted-use stock, you enter the transfer to unrestricted-use
stock in a second step. It is at that time that the valuation of the
goods receipt occurs.
Depending on how Customizing for Sales is configured (the movement type
configured in the step Define Schedule Line Category), the delivery is
posted to the following stock:
- Blocked stock returns (non-valuated, not unrestricted-use) (movement
type 651)
- Unrestricted-use stock (movement type 653)
- Quality inspection stock (movement type 655)
- Blocked stock (movement type 657)
If the given quantity is posted to blocked stock returns first, you can
make a manual goods movement posting in the Inventory Management
component to transfer the quantity to valuated stock.
If blocked stock returns are to be transferred into your company's own
stock, you enter the transfer as a transfer posting. Choose movement
type 453 (to unrestricted-use stock), 457 (to stock in quality
inspection stock), or 459 (to blocked stock). "

I would like to use a standard SAP report to give me a list of all the movement types (much like MB51) but instead of material I would like to select on Material type e.g. ROH. The result should for example be a list of the movement types 501 on material type ROH.

I have managed to join the two tables and created a report that will work, except that the amounts in local currency that is given by movement type 201 is not negative (as in MB51). I need all movement types that generate a debit must be shown as a negative value. Wo when I summarize all the movement types I end up with the value of 101 minus 201.
Is that possible without ABAP programming?

Issue with Return Delivery for movement type 262

Hi,
I have got a strange issue, the user is trying to do a MIGO Return Delivery for a material document using movement type 262, this he claims has been doing it for many materials. However when i go to the MKPF table i see the transaction Code field to be MIGO_GI for all the material documents for which he claims to have done return delivery. But under this transaction code we have only 4 options - Display, Issue, Cancel and Remove from storage.
Now when he tries to do the return delivery for movement type 262 he get an error message "Check table T156N: entry RL 262 does not exist" , but this has been very well maintained in the table.
Can you please let me know -
If it is possible to do a return delivery for a movement type 262?
If yes how to address the above error encountered.

Hi Sachin,
If you think of return delivery to vendor with or w/o PO reference you can use movement types 161, 122, 124 as default settings.
Movement type 261 means withdrawal against production order and its reverse is MVT 262. The latter can be used e.g. via MB1A (or you can make storno of a confirmation by 261).
Are you sure your user is using the correct terminology ('return delivery')? Please check the material documents he/she claims to have booked as return delivery. (in MB51 you can get a list of all material movements of MVT 261 that belong to 'your user' and after that you can open the material document and check through which transaction the booking was made.)

Restriction of Selecting Reason for movement based on the movement type

HI,
Defined Reason for movements for the movement types and made the field as " mandatory" in the control reason for the movement type.
So, during the Goods movement transaction it becomes mandatory to enter the reason for movement code.
But during the Goods movement transaction, it is possible to enter any reason for movement for any movement type. It needs to restricted with subject to the movement type.
Example:
Defined the Reason for movements 0001 & 0002 for the movement type 561.
Defined the Reason for movements 0003 & 0004 for the movement type 563.
During MB1C, now it is possible to select 0003 or 0004 for 561 as well as , it is possible to select 0001 or 0002 for 563.
it needs to be controlled w.r.to the movement type.
that is, if the movement type 561 is entered, then system should only allow the reason for movement either 0003 or 0004.
Is it possible to control, the selection of "reason for movement" based on the movement type ?

Check the transaction OMBS.Here you can make the entry of reason for movement mandatory check:controls and in reasons for movements you can maintain the allowed reasons for movement for the perticulatr movement type.

Goods movement (movement type 601), Assign GL account

When you craete an outbound delivery (picking, packing & goods issue), it creates an Financial document (the goods issue), the goods issue have a plant and sales office & profit centre. When the financial document is created, it post to a specific GL Account, I want to change the GL Account, but don't know which field (plant, sales office, profit centre) determines the GL account, and where this setting is made, so that I can change it.
The movement type that involve is 601. This means for every goods issue we generate, there is a accounting document, and this account document is posting to a GL account, and I want to change this specific GL account. It is not in VKOA, OKGB or GGB1.

601 is created for goods issues against sales order. Look up the material document in MIGO and look for the FI document entries taking place. Then go in OBYC, and look up those account keys and you will find the G/Ls assigned against those accounts keys.
Whenever you create a delivery with reference to a sales order, goods movement takes place in the bacgground. eg. In case of standard sales order, you create an outbound goods delivery to the customer.
Here movement 601 takes place. This movement is configured in MM.
When goods issues are posted for sales:-
Movement type used for posting u2013 601
Accounting entry posted:-
Cost of goods sold -
Debit
Inventory of Finished goods -
Credit
For cost of goods sold transaction key----

is updated with general modification key----
