Movie and iWeb Problem

I posted a Quicktime movie (7.04) in medium streaming. My friends with PC's can't open it. Are there other settings I should use?

The problem is a lot of pc users are on company
computers at work and do not have the ability to
install software.
My sister-in-law is on her PC at home, has the latest QuickTime and still cannot see my video (she hears the sound, though). I've tried it on both my iBook using Virtual PC and Windows XP Pro, and on a real PC running XP, and I can see and hear my video perfectly well.
What's up with that??

PS. I'm exporting it as a Sorenson video right now - we'll see if that helps.

I have. I posted a topic on it and haven't gotten any suggestions. Movies, audio and video will work fine on the .Mac site, but won't work on the non-mac site. 1.01 worked fine on both but since upgranding I haven't been able to figure out the problem. Here are the addresses:

the "Test" page is a small audio file. The "Movies" page is a rather large file. The Fire Calls page has some audio too, that's more like a podcast.
I would appreciate any help and am not sure if the OP is publishing to .Mac or another site.

Movies and Audio Problem - PLEASE HELP!!!!!

If I am working on the music for a movie file i sometimes open a new project with no global tracks, so as i can focus on the music, when i then choose to open the movie and see what the music sounds like with the movie all is fine..... until i stop the movie. If the movie is not playing or doesnt have the volume slider raised high (on the movie window), no sound is heard when i press a key on my midi keyboard. This means i can only come up with ideas when the movie is playing. If i close the movie and/or the global tracks, the problem remains the same. I have to close logic an reopen it in order for me to hear any sounds (audio tracks and midi). Any advice or help would be great as this is really frustrating me. Thanks, Ben

I use Logic Plug ins and Korg/Steinberg plug ins. I have a multi instrument set up in my environment for an external Korg Trinity Keyboard. It is no longer connected as it was too difficult to control program changes etc and recording in audio takes too long for me. This many be the problem??? Maybe i could remove the multi and see if this helps. I am thinking of re-connecting the Korg to my computer but am not sure if it will cause more problems. Any advice? Thanks... Ben

Movie and audio problems on the classic

I just bought my first Ipod (a 160gb classic). I had a couple movies and a lot of music videos already on my hard drive, all of which I legally own. Some transferred to Itunes and some did not. My first question is how do I get the ones that didn't transfer to do so.
Secondly, of the ones in i-tunes almost all would not transfer to the ipod. (The message would read "this item was not copied because the audio format/file type is not supported by the Ipod 'administrator's ipod'"). I hit the "Advanced" and "Convert Selection for Ipod" options. Some transferred to my ipod okay while others still will not transfer, even though they were allegedly synced. Why?
And thirdly, of the ones that did transfer to my ipod, some are fine without any problems. But with others the video works okay but there is no audio. How do I fix that?
Any help that can be provided would be GREATLY appreciated.

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

Chrome and iWeb problem

Hi there!
I got my Mac a few months ago, and I've started working on an iWeb site. Everything was going REALLY swell until I published it to a folder and tried to run it with Chrome (which is currently my default browser). Unlike FireFox and Safari, Chrome would not display the navigation bar at all which basically rendered the site unusable to Chrome users.
Is there a fix for this, or can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

P.S. This website is for a podcast that I'm working on, which makes iWeb a great app for me to use.

Static pages created in iWeb do not require a server to be previewed locally
Test it yourself with Chrome and you will see that it is not true for that browser. In any case it is a waste of time to try to solve problems which people claim to have with sites they are viewing locally. Until you can see it on a server you never know if the problem really exists or has much relation with the way they described it.

Snow Leopard QT Movie and Lexicon Problems

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard but now I have two problems I was hoping you could help me with :
1) I write music for film, and when I score I send the movie out firewire using ADVC110 to a TV. To get this to work, when I get the .mov file, I open it in QT Pro, then do a save as, select options and save it as a DV movie file. This means it will work out the firewire. However this option seems to have gone in the QT in Snow Leopard? Can anyone tell me how to convert a movie to a DV PAL movie in Snow Leopard with Quit Time?
2) I also have a Lexicon PCM96. When I insert the plugin in Logic, it freezes and I have to force quit. Is anyone else having this problem? It must be something between Logic and the Lexicon plugin as I can get the Lexicon plugin to work on Snow Leopard with Pro-Tools HD and Digital Performer. Any ideas how to get this to work?

Don't know about the QT issue, but a Lexicon rep in another forum mentioned that the PCM96 and Snow Leopard are definitely not getting along well as of yet.
They are aware of the problem and are working on an update, apparently. Unlike SOME large software companies who shall go nameless, Lexicon actually has programmers and reps who take part in public forums and help answer the concerns and questions of professional users. What a concept, huh?
I'm still streaming my PCM96 over firewire on Leopard, so I'm probably not going to upgrade until Lexicon gets this sorted out.
(You may also be interested to know they just introduced a plugin version of the LexPCM verbs at AES New York. Makes me kinda sad to have invested in the hardware, but on the "bright" side, the plug retails for $1800.. which is about the same price I paid for my PCM96).

Most DVDs are encoded to VOBs -- video/audio files which contain MPEG-2 video data interlaced most often with AC3 audio data here in the US. Neither of these formatas are compatioble with QT/iTunes without additional components. If your files are not encrypted, simply convert them to an iPod compatible format before importation into iTunes. An application like MPEG Streamclip (free and available in both Mac and PC versions) can convert directly to iPod Baseline profile movies (320x240 @ max 768 video data rate) using the "Export to MPEG-4" option and the iPod preset. If you want iPod compatible Baseline LC files, then convert them to a QT compatible intermediate format and then import them into iTunes for final conversion to iPod compatible files.

that I would know to open the page in DW, find the word BOXTEXT and
replace it with my script.
BUT, not only does the DW search box not find the word
BOXTEXT, it doesn't find ANY of the words in my document. I tried
changing the word BOXTEXT to AARDVARK and then searching for
AARDVARK - still it says it is not in the document.
What's the problem here? I am searching for text and not
Source Code, and this does work with other pages...
Any advice?

Make sure you are in design view to search for text and in
code view to
search for code. You may have inadvertently put your key word
inside some
code so a text search won't find it. Switch to code view and
search for
your word in code. Next, try the notepad solution.

HomePage and iWeb problems

I am using HomePage as my download page for my iWeb site (which you can't do on iWeb, but does anyone know if you can do this on iWeb 8?). I have used this process before and have simply added pdf files to my Public folder in iDisk. When I try to add new files on HomePage, the files that I see on my iDisk are not shown in the editing section of HomePage. Why don't those files show up? I have always just dragged the pdf files into iDisk's Public folder and it has worked many, many times in the past. Can anyone help? What am I now doing wrong or differently?

in iWeb 2 there is an option to link to a document (and I guess it is download but I never used that myself). I put my files in a .zip and upload them to a folder. Then I put a normal link (external page link) linking to the zip files on my pages and as soon as someone clicks on the link the download starts. That would work on iWeb 1x too I think.
I don't have .Mac so I can't answer the question, sorry...

Move and scale problem

Since upgrading to the new iOS 7 I cannot move or scale my private photos for wallpaper?any help.

It's a glitch.
If you go in through the photos app, you can have a bit more functionality. The scaling may not work well but you can move to at least choose the part you see.
About all folks can do is wait for it to be fixed or to find a different wallpaper to use.

If subtitles are available on that film (those that do should have CC against them in the store), then you should be able to turn it on via Settings > Videos

The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that nothing could be further from the truth has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:

Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD.

How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.

Did you delete all receipts with iDVD in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder before installing the new copy? If not then do so and delete the new application also.
