Movie artwork being replaced by album artwork

A few of the movies on my iPad air are having the movie artwork being randomly replaced by album artwork. For example, my Goodfellas artwork was randomly replaced by Albert King: Born Under a Bad Sign. On my MacBook Pro, in iTunes the artwork shows up correctly. I synced to try to fix this and it did not correct it. The movie still plays fine, this is just annoying which does not help my slight case of OCD. Does anyone know of a fix? (other than wiping my iPad clean and starting over).

depends what music players you use on your computer. i use musicmatch jukebox to do all that updating, and itunes automatically recognizes the changes as soon as it is opened up. you can also do it in itunes itself. right click on the song or songs you want to update, there should be an option to edit or view info or something along those lines. there are different tabs for song info. in musicmatch, it is on the main file screen. don't know right off hand about itunes.

  • ITunes Movie Artwork Issue For Videos Purchased From iTunes

There appear to be a number of different issues with iTunes and Movie Artwork but my issue seems to be a little different – and I have a workaround for it – so I thought I'd post it here in the hope that it will save someone else some time.
Config:  iMac 27" / Latest Mountain Lion / Itunes 11 *in 64 bit mode*
Issue:  HD movies purchased and downloaded in iTunes won't let me add artwork.  I use 'get info' on the movie in question, select the artwork tab, and then drag a picture across from Google Images.  It appears to work fine.  I collapse the 'get info' window.  To check to see if the artwark was saved, I use the 'get info' command on the same movie.  The artwork is not there.  It was not saved.
    Additional Info:
    1.  I have no problem adding artwork (using the exact same process) to any movies that I've ripped from DVDs using Handbrake.
    2.  I discovered that the movies in question that I downloaded wouldn't play when launched from iTunes.  The failure message said that playback required Quicktime.  I have old and new versions of Quicktime on my Mac.  Didn't seem to make sense.  I researched the failure to play problem and the workaround for that also fixed my artwork problem.
    Workaround:
    1.  Quit out of iTunes.
    2.  In the applications folder, find iTunes, right click the app file and select 'get info'.
    3.  Tick the box that says "open in 32 bit mode".  Collapse the 'get info' window.
    4.  Open iTunes.
    5.  Launch the movie in question.  If you get a failure message, just hit 'cancel'.  The movie will open and begin playing, likely with no sound.
    6.  Quit the movie.
    7.  Select the movie in question and do 'get info' on it.
    8.  Select the artwork tab and drag your artwork into the blank window.  Collapse the 'get info' window.
    9.  Repeat steps 5 through 8 for all the movies you've had trouble with.
    10.  Repeat steps 1 through 4, but this time untick the box that says "open in 32 bit mode".
All your artwork should be ok now, and you should be able to make changes for those files from this point on without using this workaround.
So - my question is, does anyone know why there is an issue with 32-bit vs 64-bit and if there is a way to fix it so this workaround isn't needed?
    Cheers.

I am having this same problem ever since I upgraded to iTunes 7.x. When I was using 6.x, the videos displayed fine but after the upgrade, they were no longer viewable. The audio is skipping and I only receive flashing colors in the panel where the video should be displayed. I am currently using iTunes 7.5 and not only a problem with video display but also can not view album art in the Cover Flow display. Only a series of different colored squares where the album should be displayed. I have two Sony Vaios one works and one does not. The Vaio PCV-RZ34G with 1GB RAM does not work but a Vaio VGC-RB53 with 512MB works fine. I have searched for video driver updates and have not found any solution. The problem only seems to appear with any video played with Quicktime. Video played with other video applications works fine. I have just lived with no quicktime video or cover flow on the PCV-RZ43G. This has been an excellent system with the only problem being the video conflict with quicktime.

  • ITunes 11: Is there a way to see Movie artwork in list view anymore?

There used to be a small avatar of the movie artwork to the left of the title, anyone see how to do this again?
    Thanks in advance!

No, there is no way to quickly preview artwork of selected songs.      You have to commit with "Get Info".      I agree, the lack of a preview window makes managing the library far more tedious.      You can't trust the artwork in "Album" view because iTunes seems to pull that from the cloud, artwork you see may not embedded in the song.
This was the main reason I switched back to iTunes 10.7.     The other reason was the inability to open multiple windows.    I was trying to create a playlist of the songs on my daughters's iPod touch, and ended up having to create a screenshot of the iPod.   Convoluted workarounds for tasks that used to be done in one click is called "progress".

  • Need Help Adding Movie Artwork

Whenever I try to add a JPEG poster to one of my movies, nothing happens. In album view, there's a snapshot of the movie, but the snapshot doesn't appear in get info nor does "remove downloaded artwork" get rid of it. Does anyone know how to fix my problem so I can have artwork for my movie? Thanks!

Another one I'll have to try tonight.
It would also be nice to be able to have 1 artwork for an artist, so if you have 5 videos from 1 artist, they went under 1 category and you had control of the artwork that was on the link to that artist.

  • ITunes/AppleTV Movie artwork issue

I have noticed an issue with the Movie artwork in iTunes and on the AppleTV.
I would love to post an image. The thing I have noticed is that part of the right side of the artwork is wrapped around and displays on the left side. It is more noticeable on the AppleTV big screen.

One way I have found to remedy this situation is to view "Get Info" on a movie which is showing the wrong artwork. Then change something irrelevant like ARTIST or ALBUM. I usually just delete that field which usually shows up as "UNKNOWN". Then I hit the "OKAY" button.
Now, the key is to navigate from the movie library window to another window, like your music library window. Then when you go back to the movie library window it should be fixed.
It doesn't make sense but it's been working for me.

  • Deleting iTune Home Movie Artwork

    Community
How does one (if we can) delete artwork associated with Home Movie in iTunes (version 12.0.1).  I recently changed the artwork associate with a ripped CD but I can't seem to delete the previous artwork in iTunes 12.0.1. Windows 7
    Jeff

I've always had this issue with my movie artwork.  I had it attributed to the location where I store my media, which is on an external server due to space limitations.  I had to first open the media in 32-bit mode, then do is just what you described, but since I upgraded to 11, it no longer works for me.
This has been a sore spot for me since I moved my iTunes media to my mac mini, I was hoping that I wouldnt need to jump through hoops to get my media to play with the upgrade.  Annoying...

  • What is happening to all the movie artwork since I downloaded iTunes 11?  All the art work is missing.  They down even show up on my apple TV anymore.  This is frustrating !!!!!

What is happening to all the movie artwork since I downloaded iTunes 11?  All the art work is missing.  They down even show up on my apple TV anymore.  This is frustrating !!!!!

Well, all my PAID, bought on iTunes movie poster art is now missing as well in iTunes 11.1.2. My largeish personal movie collection, wherein I hunted down the poster art and manually added it... all still work. Further, I note, in moving one of my processed films between Macs, the cover art is embedded in the H.264 movie file itself. It cannot go away. As a test of this, I transferred one of my files to a PC notebook of a friend, and even iTunes on the PC sees the cover art fine.
This tells us, code wise, movies from the iTunes Store do not have embedded, rather linked poster art assets, and thus, the link within iTunes between movie and poster art has been severed in this release.  This is why an incremental update to iTunes can magically restore all the missing cover art.
A note to Apple Programmers Imagine were I Steve Jobs telling you this. (Oh, I am THAT guy who caused a rewrite of the Apple Store. Remember THAT?) Here is the permanent fix to cover art issues: In a hidden, locked (after edit) Unix file stored safely somewhere, you just have iTunes use an OUTBOARD FILE which simply contains the link data for the art. THEN, when ANY new version of iTunes comes along, it just reads that little file, and NO USER is ever left without art. The file is opened and modified as needed, and just locked up after each change.
Further, the poster art is not searchable by name on your computer if you wanted to do a manual add to permanently fix the problem.
From experience, I can tell you manually adding movie poster art, which iTunes then embeds, is painfully slow even on a fast machine. That is because a huge file must be rewritten. This is why Apple may have reticence - keeping user experience positive.
Further, Apple may be using a direct screen dump technology for the poster art, which puts a graphic onscreen without using further memory. Large collections could tank a lesser machine if this was not used.
Well, at least my movies look good in Apple TV.

  • Do we really need the iFlick app to insert movie artwork into iTunes library?

As I noticed (many) earlier threads on this subject, this appears to be a recurring problem in iTunes. I have read that adding artwork to movies in iTunes could be done in 2 ways:
    - dragging the picture file to the preview pane of a playing movie
    - right clicking to "get info" and adding the picture file in the illustration tab
Some of the tricks reported were::
    - make the thumbnail of the movie poster the smallest as possible by sliding to the minimal value
    - transfer all movies from the default "home movie" folder to the "films" folder
    - drag the picture file onto the preview pane of a playing movie, wait until it hampers and then force-stop iTunes and restart (?duh?)...
None of these things seem to be working right now. Does it have something to do with the latest iTunes update maybe? I didn't have these problems before and all previously added movie artwork remains fine, I just can't add any new ones.
I saw a thread from Nov 2013 where someone mentioned that when using the "get info" function and adding the picture file to the illustration tab, the movie thumbnail blinks like in the way of processing, but afterwards, nothing is added. When going back to "get info", the picture file that has just been added, is not there anymore...
In the past, I also read something about file sizes of movie artworks, something about not exceeding 520px or so?
My iTunes library is on a WD NAS, I use a MacBook (2010), OSX Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.4.
I also tried a folder containing artwork files on the NAS drive itself: didn't work either.
Should the artwork source be somewhere in the iTunes folder or so?
It's quite frustrating and it shouldn't be rocket science to add an image file to a movie...

  • Movie Artwork

    Hi
I have just upgraded my MacMini to Lion 10.7.2 and iTunes 10.5 (141)
My MacMini serves all my movies through 3 Apple Tvs in my house.
Up until the upgrade I could add a movie - give it a name - add the year etc etc in the Get Info Window.
The main issue is I used to be able to select the "Artwork" tab and add the artwork from the imdb data base or wherever I could find an appropriate image file.
NOW the "Artwork" tab is greyed out.
    What is going on?

    Hi massew,
Any movie artwork you might have bought from the iTunes Store has a 679x960 size.
If you would like to put every movie art work also with a square size, you'll need to do it yourself. You'll have to use any photo program and then resize it to square size (350x350 for example)...
    Hope it helps.

  • Movie artwork and movie extras disappear from iTunes. How do I fix this?

When downloading a movie from iTunes store the movie artwork image will appear as intended for the remainder of the download, but once finished the artwork disappears and does not allow you to add artwork yourself. Same happens for movies with Extras, but it is the entire extra that disappears from iTunes and the only way to get to it is actually visit the movie folder located within the iTunes folder on my computer. This is an obvious issue to the most recent iTunes update because all movies downloaded prior have the artwork still. Also, any movies added other than purchasing through iTunes allow me the abillity to add or change artwork.
I have not been able to find any post similar to this situation other the most recent update to iTunes was rushed and not properly tested as a lot of other posts suggest unique issues that are annoying.
If someone knows how to solve this issue it would be much appreciated.

    Hello daddyleon75,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Movie Artwork loads slowly/incompletely

I have the aTV 3 since release.  Originally movie artwork for local content was always displayed.  Now, it does not populate until I select the movie (it just shows the movie ticket icon).  This makes looking through the movies very slow as you have to wait for each movie artwork to repopulate.  Once repopulated most seem to stay there, but if I go through the whole movie list (300+ movies) and I go back to the beginning, the first ones have lost their art again.  It's seems like the buffer can only hold "X" amount of movie coverarts.  Is this possibly something to do with the latest FW, as I did not notice this early on?  Everything is streamed wifi using TC wireless n, 2.4GHz.
If I go away for a week and start the aTV all movie coverart has disappeared and has to be repopulated, even though iTunes, wifi, aTV have not been turned off.  Also, the coverflow movie artwork on the left side of the screen seems to work just fine (all artwork present).  So does it get it's artwork differently?

I too find that movie icons/artwork does not properly repopulate. I believe that there is a memory caching error in the apple software.  When I unplug the apple tv and re-plug it back in, the artwork repopulates.  Then, after a period of time, the same problem recurs.  This is definitely an apple issue.

  • Movie Artwork "Get Info"

    MOVIE ARTWORK
I have copied a number of movies to my iPad2 for my grand daughter to watch. I downloaded the movie posters for each movie, shrunk them to about 26kb jpegs and then added them to the Movie on the get info screen. Problem is about 1/2 of the movies will not take the artwork, the other 1/2 did, what is going on?

When you add a movie to iTunes you have to make sure it makes a copy of the file in the iTunes Media folder.  Otherwise, you can't edit any of the information on the movie or video.
In iTunes 12, go to Edit-->Preferences
In Preferences, go to Advanced and make sure the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library".
Unfortunately, you will now have to re-import the movie files into iTunes using "Add File To Library..." Once imported, the movie will sometimes appear under "Home Movies" instead of "Movies" but if you right click on the movie file it will list a menu item called "Get Info" where you can change the "Options" to "Movie". You should also be able to click the "Add Artwork" button.
    Hope that helps.

  • ITunes movie Artwork

I'm trying to add Artwork to some of my movies in iTunes. I've done this without issue in the past, but now it just won't work. I go to Get Info/Artwork/Add, the file displays properly in the Get Info window, but then, when I click OK, the window closes, but no Artwork is added, nothing displays in CoverFlow???
    Any ideas???
    THX!

Having same problem. I put a post up too... so I'll monitor yours and post results if anyone responds successfully to either.
This works fine in iTunes 7.5 with either a local or external iTunes folders.
Tagging information gets updated with the file just fine.
Oddly, after you "unsuccessfully" try to add artwork to the movie, going to Frontrow gets corrupt results (read: no movies or TV shows display). However, restarting iTunes will get Frontrow working again.
Another odd issue, if you attempt to delete the iTunes Movie entry, a dialog box will ask if you want to keep or delete the file... if you tell it to delete the file, it won't.
I'm guessing Apple mucked around with the Movie/Video stuff to some degree for all this rental functionality... and it typical (we release it - but don't really test it - apple fashion), broke the Movie artwork stuff.
    Nice release Apple!

Some of my inbox received mail content is being replaced by older mail from my inbox.  Since I receive mail from my gmail account, I have to go there to check the mail which is not replaced.  An ideas/suggestions?

Did it work correctly before now?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
