Movie Artwork No Longer Shows Up

I made MP4 copies of home movies and imported them into iTunes for Windows, then added artwork. Everything worked fine. The artwork would show up on my iPad and within iTunes without issue.
I have no converted fully to the Apple ecosystem and have imported the same movies into iTunes. Problem is, whenever I sync movies with my iPad, the artwork that was there disappears and when I check "get info," it says artwork is not available. For a new movie that I converted into MP4, then imported into iTunes, I am having the same problem. So, it's not iTunes for Windows that caused the problem. It's evidently something wonky with iTunes for Mac.
What's going on here? How do I remedy this?

This had nothing to do with voice memos, no other items were connected so have tried this method and it works twice on both computers, the other is running leopard.
If all your music is on the main hard drive, check in finder and your itunes folders should be in music, all I did was make a new folder and call it music 2, make sure its under music on the left hand side, drag the itunes music folder containing only the music into this. From this go to itunes in applications delete itunes into trash, restart computer then download the latest version. When all opened up you should get a home page showing get music from icloud or scan for media, press scan and let the new version find it on your computer, when finished go to screen saver settings and notice the itunes screen saver working.
I don't know why this works either its a software fault with apple or just my luck, but I have had no problems since and looks greats on the screen.

Movie category no longer showing up??

My AppleTv 2nd generation no longer shows MOVIES category. Never been a problem before. Is this because of an update? How do I access movies for rent from Itunes Store?

I have the same exact problem. only the Internet-Computer-Settings icons are shown.
The internet features (youtube etc.) work perfectly.
i've checked the location settings as well, seems no problem.
still not working. i could rent only one movie ever since I got my ATV2.

Updated to iTunes 7 - artwork no longer shows on ipod

After upgradeing to iTunes 7 and firmware upgrade to 1.2 on my 60gb video ipod, I no longer see artwork on my ipod. In fact, everything was pretty messed up, so I restored my ipod, but retained the 1.2 firmware version and iTunes 7 on my PC (Win XP Pro).
I've now added some of my music back onto the ipod, and I've added some artwork and it all shows up correctly in iTunes, but doesn't show up at all on my ipod.
The only clue I have is an error I get when I enable the option to "Show artwork on the ipod" (in the Music tab) and hit Apply. I do not get the error when I uncheck this option and hit Apply. The error is "An Unknown Error has Occurred (-50)". I have spent the last 2 days searching the apple site as well as others but can't find anything with the (-50) error having to do with enabling artwork on the ipod.
I then thought that maybe one or more of my artwork .jpg files might be invalid or something, so I used iTunes to remove all of the artwork from every music file on my ipod, but I continue to get the same error everytime I try to set the option to enable artwork on my ipod.
I have to wonder if possibly there is something else going on here. I figured that after restoring my ipod back to factory and loading only a few of my music files back on, that the problem would resolve itself, but apparently it must be a bug in iTunes 7 or something else. I'm not doing anything I didin't do with iTunes 6.x and I've never had any problems seeing my album artwork on my ipod before.
Does anyone know what is going on?? I'm stumped.

Artwork no longer shows up after moving media to external hard drive

I recently, and successfully, moved all my media over to a continuously connected external hard drive. Although my media folder and all music, movies, and apps are there, No NEW art work downloads when I buy a new movie or song. I've also noticed that, under the old iTnes folder there are still folders there for Album Artwork/Cache/Download. Should these also be moved over to the new drive or somehow linked in some way?

If you moved the iTunes folder to your external drive, you moved the iTunes library file - iTunes Library.itl, which is in that folder.
You need to tell iTunes where it is, start iTunes with the shift key held down and iTunes should ask you to choose a library.

Movies Cover Flow Artwork Doesn't Show

Since upgrading to v10.6.1 my movies artwork does not show in cover flow nor on my ATVs. When new movies are added the artwork shows for a few days then disappears. Using Get Info shows the artwork is present in the file, closing the by closing the Get Info window the artwork then reappears in iTunes + ATVs - almost as if some kind if refresh is needed. Anybody else experiencing this problem if so have you found a solution?

You are correct in your first post when you say you were able to replace the poster frame (or empty artwork) with specific artwork that you have designed to represent the content using the Get Info panel in iTunes. You are also correct when you specify this needs to be done prior to uploading your content to iTunes U.
Have you checked the Track Preferences within your iTunes U site? There you will find the option to "Override with Course Page image" if this is set, then it's the reason you are not able to see the artwork that you have just uploaded. A better preference is "If empty, use course page image." When this is set your specific track artwork will be used but in instance where none is present, iTunes U will use the course page image.

Hi- apparently I also had a similar moment of madness and thought that 'freeride games' would be fun. Well, so much for that! It added a ton of things to my tool bar, I would like to uninstall it, any suggestions for this one?

My movies, audio, purchases, etc no longer shows up on my iTunes! HELP!

i clicked to open my iTunes when all of the sudden not only did the itunes open but it started to "IMPORT" itunes rather than open to its window! i click "stop" downloading in the middle. when i reopened my iTunes icon i the only ones i see is my:
- music
- under PLAYLIST the only one showing is SHUFFLE everything else like purchased songs, and my folders are gone!
- movies: i downloaded are no longer showing up on my movies folder.
- audiobooks: the same thing i see!
i'm afraid to connect my iPod to my laptop in fear i will lose my movies, audiotbooks , purchased and added songs, recently added songs and the like!
what should i do? what happened? is my itunes libary corrupted?
please help. thank you.

i also want to add that i downloaded itunes 7 hoping i can restore the folders i lost. unfortunately it didnt work.
is my itunes corrupt?
is there a software like copytrans i can download that can save songs, movies and audiobooks?

Video Art Sync Problems: TV Shows Artwork No, Movies Artwork Yes

Strange occurrences since upgrade to IOS 8 on the iPhone 6: I have video cover art embedded in 100% or my movies and TV shows. Before the IOS 8 upgrade no problems with the cover art appearing on either TV Shows or Movies. Now after the update, video cover artwork does not transfer to the iPhone for TV Shows alone. If the type selection is changed to Movie, then the show appears in the Movies tab and the art appears! Change the type back to TV Show and it disappears again. Anyone else have an experience with this one? Seems like a bug to me....

For anyone who converts files so their apple devices can use them, Smart Convertor Pro 2 has just sent out an update which has the option for square artwork for TV Shows. So when you convert your file it adds the metadata to the file and includes the artwork in a square format, when you load this onto your device it works and you can see the artwork!
Well done guys, at least you looked at your customers issue and done something about it! Lets hope Apple sorts themselves out too!

Well, all my PAID, bought on iTunes movie poster art is now missing as well in iTunes 11.1.2. My largeish personal movie collection, wherein I hunted down the poster art and manually added it... all still work. Further, I note, in moving one of my processed films between Macs, the cover art is embedded in the H.264 movie file itself. It cannot go away. As a test of this, I transferred one of my files to a PC notebook of a friend, and even iTunes on the PC sees the cover art fine.
This tells us, code wise, movies from the iTunes Store do not have embedded, rather linked poster art assets, and thus, the link within iTunes between movie and poster art has been severed in this release. This is why an incremental update to iTunes can magically restore all the missing cover art.
A note to Apple Programmers Imagine were I Steve Jobs telling you this. (Oh, I am THAT guy who caused a rewrite of the Apple Store. Remember THAT?) Here is the permanent fix to cover art issues: In a hidden, locked (after edit) Unix file stored safely somewhere, you just have iTunes use an OUTBOARD FILE which simply contains the link data for the art. THEN, when ANY new version of iTunes comes along, it just reads that little file, and NO USER is ever left without art. The file is opened and modified as needed, and just locked up after each change.
Further, the poster art is not searchable by name on your computer if you wanted to do a manual add to permanently fix the problem.
From experience, I can tell you manually adding movie poster art, which iTunes then embeds, is painfully slow even on a fast machine. That is because a huge file must be rewritten. This is why Apple may have reticence - keeping user experience positive.
Further, Apple may be using a direct screen dump technology for the poster art, which puts a graphic onscreen without using further memory. Large collections could tank a lesser machine if this was not used.
Well, at least my movies look good in Apple TV.

ITunes 7.6 Movie Artwork NOT Updating

First, everything was working fine in 7.5...
Upgraded to 7.6, when I import a movie, it uses the first frame as the artwork (as it always did). However, when I switch to the artwork tab and try to load an image, it won't save it. It acts like it did... but the image doesn't save. If I reopen the artwork tab - it shows empty. I tried dropping into the (Now Playing window - artwork tab - whatever it is called) this doesn't work either.
If it matters (and it hasn't in the past), my library (and entire iTunes folder) is located on an external NAS drive. However, before I got alot of suggestions on configuring this properly - it should be clear this worked 100% perfect in 7.5... and has been working fine for over 2 years. Nothing has changed but the 7.6 iTunes upgrade.
Any ideas anyone?
Anyone with this configuration - would you mind adding some artwork to a new video (movie) file.

I have a similar setup here. My movies and TV shows are all stored safe and sound on a RAID5 NAS drive. iTunes on my Mac Pro connects to this drive via Samba and serves up the video to a Mac Mini and an Apple TV.
I had no problems stashing movie posters in the artwork field before. But now that I've upgraded to iTunes 7.6 I have exactly the same problem, it will not keep the artwork.
If I copy the movie to a local drive and add the artwork it stays in place.
Right now I've got to add the movie to iTunes from the local drive and then move it to the external drive. It add a few steps to the process and I can't think why it doesn't work over the network.

Problems with iPod touch 5G - Artwork and TV shows don't show up

I've been having some problems with my recently acquired iPod touch 5G. When I change album art on iTunes for music or videos it either won't change the art on my iPod or no artwork will show up at all (just the default grey music note or TV).
When I change the Sort field to make my iPod sort albums chronologically instead of alphabetically, it will work until I've plugged my iPod into the computer a few times and then it will go back to sorting alphabetically (even though in the Get Info on iTunes it still says it's sorted by year).
Lastly, when I change a downloaded video from a Movie to a TV Show it will rarely show up in TV Shows on my iPod, the file can't even be found by searching.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all videos and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Videos>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by each video
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I went to settings on Apple TV and tested the network, which was o.k. Apple TV is connected through an ethernet connection to a Linksys router. Apple TV no longer shows up in Itunes. An aside question relating to Itunes: In my movie library, to the left of the movie name, a circle sometimes appears. Some movies have no circles. Some of the circles which appear are solid blue, some are half blue/half white. What do these circles and color codes mean? thanks

A blue circle indicates you haven't yet watched it, a half blue circle that you have started to watch it but didn't finish it.

Aple tv no longer showing up in iTunes

Anyone know why my 1st generation AppleTV's (2) are no longer showing up in itunes? I used to be able to see them and could tell when they are syncing. Now they no longer dowload content either.

Nano no longer shows up as device in itunes

My nano no longer shows up as a device in Itunes. Connection is good as it still charges, but nothing when I plug it in. Does not show up as device in windows either.

Until you fix it, make future purchases in itunes direct.

Any security software potentially blocking access to AppleTV from iTunes.
AppleTV1 as you know has 2 modes - streaming and syncing. It has to be configured as a sync library for purchases to transfer to itunes and for you to sync to it. Synced content appears under My Movies etc. Streaming only content appears under My Shared Movies etc if a sharing libarry is configured.
You cannot copy purchases back to a shared itunes library only the sync library. Both sync and share connected AppleTVs however should appear under Devices in itunes. Can you send a song to AppleTV from itunes using Airplay? The fact that you can buy on AppleTV means it's connected to the internet - it does not mean that it is connected with iTunes on your LAN - the 2 things are separate.
If you no longer have a sync library you would need to change exisitng settings which will delete current synced material but apparently (never tested so can't be sure) not non-backed up purchases.
Under AppleTV's Settings>Computers menu, the top entry is teh sync library - if this is greyed out then either it's no longer available (eg different computer) or AppleTV and itunes are not connected. If you select it and choose to remove it,you can re-add the AppleTV to itunes afresh - if itunes doesn't see the AppleTV requesting a pairing when you try this either there's a communication/network issue (hardware or software related) or perhaps itunes installation corruption.
